EEEEEK! Last night I thought this baby was coming

I'd felt really unsettled and 'emotional' (read, bloody grumpy!) all day and exhausted in the evening.
When I went to bed I kept waking up for no apparent reason, felt really restless and at one point was sick (I think now because I am still fighting off a cough). I had a few period pains but constant not contraction like.
Do we think baby is on the move?! Am due 9th Jan, this is number 2.
I really want to get Christmas done first. Perhaps this was just a mini warm-up...!

lol at your DS

I have felt a continuous period pain too but now i have been on the monitor and saw them myself, i can tell when they are coming on and then tailing off again. Ive never felt contractions before so it just felt like a bit of pressure and period pain. I didnt think they were contractions but i could feel them at the same time i was seeing them on the monitor so obv they were. But it was recording contractions sometimes when i wasn't feeling anything. So they are not "real" ones iykwim.

Hope this makes sense, ive got DH and DD arguing over bloody sweets and chocolate here lol can't think straight!

HeadFairy · 27/12/2009 19:41

Thanks for that... sounds very similar to what I'm having, though they're not all the time... generally they're in the evening. Maybe I'm over doing things?

I've never had contractions before either as ds was born by cs at 39 weeks before I even went in to labour. I'm so clueless at all this!

maybebaby23 · 27/12/2009 22:43

Me too, my DD was born at 39 weeks by cs as well, she was breech. I never felt a single contraction. Im 39+3 now so all these signs and symptoms are new to me!

Up until now ive been having the period pains and lots of pressure during the night. I haven't been sleeping well at all because of it. But they have started to happen during the day now. Ive had lots of waves of period pain/pressure today. Hope you manage to get a good nights sleep headfairy, not long for us now!

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 09:06

How funny... same here. I'm now 40+3 and this is all totally new to me. I appear to have the crampy feelings at night too, but they go if |I move around. I didn't have the greatest nights sleep but that was more to do with ds having nightmares than anything!

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 09:16

Haha we have the same prob with DD!! How old is your DS? DD is 3.10 and she was in and out of our room all night crying about a nightmare she had! It took ages for her to calm down and believe me that it wasn't real, just a nightmare! So i feel like i never went to bed lastnight!

I find the cramps go if i walk around. Ive had a couple of really painful ones in the night but it felt like baby was lay on a nerve or something, really wierd!
Wow you are 40+3! It definately won't be long for you now!

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 09:34

DS is 2.3. I have absolutely no idea what his nightmare was about, he kept saying there was a brolly in his room (at least that's what I thought he said). He woke up at 11pm and refused to go back to bed... I eventually managed to persuade him to go to sleep in our bed at 1am, and when I woke to go to the loo at 3sm I took him back to his bed. So not a great one for me.

I know for sure that I don't have long because I've got another section booked for Thursday... I cannot face being induced so I came to a compromise with the consultant. I'd give it a week and then have another section.

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 09:47

I have a section booked for thursday as well!!! I have been unsure about VBAC so booked in "just incase"

Im thinking that i will probably try if i go before thursday, otherwise just go for the section.

Bless your little DS DD's nightmares are always about monsters she has a very vivid imagination and descibes the monsters in great detail which is quite amusing once she has stopped sobbing obviously It is not amusing at 2am (yawn)

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 13:29

haha what a coincidence! Nice to know there's definitely an end in sight... only 2 and a half days left!

I've just spent two hours crawling around a soft play thingy with ds so if that won't set it off then nothing will!

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 13:44

Wow, that should do the trick! I on the other hand have just spent 2 hours shopping in the sales, with everyone pushing and shoving as if the world is ending lol!
3 more sleeps til the end, i can't believe it.
I will be thinking of you on thursday!

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 13:47

haha, the crazy things we do when we really should be sitting down eating endless chocolate biscuits!

I was really keen to hold out for the cs before, but now I'm really at the "just get her out, now!" stage! I'll be thinking of you on Thurs too... I'm the first one up in the morning, so should be holding dd before midday!

I wonder how Blondie is doing?

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 14:00

I have spent the whole pregnancy holding out for the section too, until the last 2 weeks, now i just want her out, i dont care how lol! Ooh the fist one up, exciting. I don't know about me yet, will find out at the pre-op tomorrow! New years eve on the ward with our lovely new bundles what will your DH and DS be doing? Mine said he may as well just go to bed when DD does lol

How are you egtting on blondie? and anyone else who is nearly there!

HeadFairy · 28/12/2009 14:35

It's funny isn't it? I was almost happy to be told last time that I had to have a section, but I never got to this stage, so I guess I never felt that "get this baby out of me now" feeling. Now I'm starting to think a 12 hour labour (or whatever) is a small price to pay for not waddling around like this!

Dh hasn't said what he's doing on NYE, he has joked about going to the pub across the road (taking the baby monitor with him) - or at least I hope he's joking. I might have to add something lovely to our Sainsbury's order for this week so he can at least have a nice dinner and a bottle of wine to come home to. I would cook him something special if I could stand for more than ten minutes without aching!

NYE on a post natal ward is going to be surreal!

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 15:59

I know me too! Last time i was afraid of labour and when they found that DD was breech and said i would be having a section, i was happy! This time i don't fear labour, more worried about my scar really. But definately have that feeling of just hurry up and come out now!

It will be surreal on the ward, and nice hearing/seeing the fireworks outside! we will be able to cuddle and kiss one of our DC at midnight but not the other one

LOL at your DH saying he's off to the pub mine has joked about dropping DD off with my mum and going to the pub for the night! Cheeky mares arn't they lol

blondiep14 · 28/12/2009 17:30

Hey girls, no news here, just got another stinky cold to contend with - I've been ill for 7 of the last 8 weeks now I think . Did have a bit of a jippy tum last night and got some period cramps but nothing of any real significance.
Midwife tomorrow so will see what she says. Last midwife appointment she said she thought I would be their New Year Mummy so maybe we will all be having our babies at the same time after all?

maybebaby23 · 28/12/2009 19:19

Sory to hear you are feeling rough blondie! Good luck at midwife appt tomorrow! Let us know how you get on!

Aww New year mummy, maybe we will all have babies at same time then!!

blondiep14 · 29/12/2009 20:50

Hey girlies, how are you all? Still here or snuggled up with newborns?!
Saw MW earlier and baby 2/5ths engaged, was quite shocked as didn't think 2nd ones engage til labour. Had more period-like pains but that's it so far.
Am in no hurry really, kinda dreading the whole process!

HeadFairy · 29/12/2009 21:13

I'm still here too.. had all my bloods done in preparation for section on Thursday. Still not sure if dd will show herself before then. She hasn't dropped much, still got chronic heartburn.

I too have some period like pains, but the mw I saw today said that I would know when they were contractions because they would have a definite start and finish rather than lasting an hour or so and kind of drifting in and out irregularly. I didn't have anything yesterday, a couple of hours of pain this morning and then nothing all day, so I guess that means they're not contractions.

I hope you're feeling better blondie.... you still hanging on maybebaby?

maybebaby23 · 30/12/2009 10:29

Im still here! Had all my bloods done yesterday for section..i was monitored again yesterday and they didn't pick up any contractions! When i went in to be checked 3 days ago they were regular! Bizarre. Also not had period pains or anything, just a couple of tightenings but not strong ones..no idea what my body is doing lol.

Well if this baby doesn't make a move i am going in for a section tomorrow, have to be there at 7.30am. Im sooo nervous and very excited to meet DD2!

Should be on later but if not, good luck headfairy i will be thinking of you and you too blondie, hope your baby gets moving soon!!

blondiep14 · 30/12/2009 11:40

How exciting Maybe, I think I've still got a while to go to be honest, but I guess I don't really know, s/he could turn up anytime!
I still have chronic heartburn too Fairy, did right up until DS was born last time even though he was very low down.
Hoping the trauma of labour will finally get rid of my cold at least . Just hope all the MW's and friends I've been speaking to are right and second time labour is better!
Feel bit odd again today but it's probably in my head after dreaming about hospitals and stuff last night!
