Hi everyone,

I'm currently 9 and a bit weeks pregnant and my due date is 1st July 2010. Am very excited and thrilled to be expecting my first baby! There are so many questions and thoughts though and I want to share these with other women in the same situation. lol at bigger boobs, I dont know how many times I have moaned when someone brushes against them or I squash it when I roll over in bed

del I am having my 12 week scan on 6th of January but I will only be 12+4, have you already had a scan?

blackcurrants Maybe the hip pain is because your not used to sleeping on your side, I'm sure it will calm down hun. I said to DP today maybe all the going to the loo at night and not being able to get back to sleep in the morning is natures way of preparing your body for the lack of sleep when the baby comes, I hope I am wrong. Can't remember it being this bad with ds but at 19 I could have fallen asleep on a knife edge lol

buckler Dp feels surplus to requirements since I fell pregnant (I have polycystic ovary syndrome so had to get fertility treatment to fall pregnant, needless to say we were very active) but now due to tiredness and sickness I can't be bothered. When I do I find I get quite a bit of cramp afterwards. GP says its fine but I can understand why its worrying for you.

How have you all been feeling? I had a couple of ms free days but it came back with a vengence today, roll on 12 weeks for it going away lol

kapars · 20/12/2009 20:40

blackcurrants - I have had terrible problems with hip and back pain. I had twinges for a few weeks then one night I couldn't sleep for the pain and the next day I couldn't walk!!! I was very worried so hobbled to the drs.
He was initially concerned and sent me off for blood tests to check it wasn't something serious like viral arthritis. However, tests were ok and the hip pain went all together. It has now moved into back, but only very slight twinge. Dr said he will just keep an eye on it and if it gets worse I can have physio.
It might be to do with ligaments softening etc.. there are lots of twinges and aches in pregnancy.
But in bad cases it can be something like SPD.
Here is some info that another mumsnetter gave me on that -
www.acpwh.org.uk/docs/ACPWH-PGP_HP.pdf

The good news is you can have paracetamol. It is safe in pregnancy. So if you suffer at night have a parcetamol.
If you are worried or the pain gets worse do go to see the dr or the midwife.
It may just be aches and pain of pregnancy and just one of those things.
One thing the dr said is make sure your husband gives you lots of back massages! And take it easy as much as possible.
Also I plan to start yoga again once in second trimester.
Hope your pain has gone already!

stac - ms has been gone last few days - really hope it doenst return. I'm now 11 plus 4 so maybe this is the light at end of the tunnel.

stac14 · 20/12/2009 21:44

kapars so hope your right, wish I was at your stage lol how have you been keeping? Whens your next scan? xx

blackcurrants · 21/12/2009 00:46

Aww, thanks Stac14, Kapars, and everyone for being so reassuring! I looked up 'hip pain pregnancy' on google (and the "what to expect" site) and was pleased at least to discover that it's NOT going to last for ever and ever. So I'm not sulking. Can't promise I won't be at 6am tomorrow morning, if it keeps up like today - but we'll try! Also, it reminded me to get off my bum and go to prenatal yoga (haven't gone at all since BFP, due to ms, no cash, and being too tired) - I think a bit of stretching might help things out.
But my sofa is sooo comfy!

JBroRo · 21/12/2009 08:17

Hello all,

I haven't been on for a while and feel a bit guilty now as I started this post and feel overwhelmed to see so many comments!

Well, I've broken up for a 2 week Xmas holiday so am really looking forward to rest and relaxation and starting to feel more human again after throwing up for the last 8 wks or so. I hope the rumours of a 'glowing/energy filled' 2nd trimester are true.

Sickness is starting to pass thank god and am starting to get a taste for more foods again.

I had my 12 wk scan last Thursday and thankfully everything went well. I just have to wait for the results of the blood test for downs.

I was just wondering if anyone else was in the process of having treatment/observation for abnormal smears? Before I got pregnant I had had a colposcopy and was due to have another one in January. I now have to have an appointment with a consultant?

On a lighter note, has anyone got any tips for surviving the Xmas period whilst pregnant?! xx

Hey Jbro nice to see u again glad you are feeling better and congrats on the 12 week scan.

I'm a little worried as haven't felt very sick the last few days and worried it means something sinister, i'm only 8 wks so surely too early for sickness to go, also back to being constipated which i normally am when not pregnant (IBS) should i be worried?

Buckler · 21/12/2009 09:48

Blackcurrants sorry ur still having pain hope it eases soon. Everyone is so near their twelve week mark

stac14 · 21/12/2009 11:05

Hi jbro good to hear from you again. Great about the scan. To be honest I think the only thing I will be doing is trying to make sure I rest as much as possible. Luckily for me my MIL does xmas dinner and my aunt does it on boxing day. Try not to get stressed out with it all. Whats your plans for xmas?

buckler the morning sickness comes and goes hun. I felt great for a few days then it came back with a vengence. I also have IBS but constipation is very common in pregnancy so try not to worry, remember your scan showed a lovely strong heartbeat. Have got your 12 week booked?

blackcurrants hows your hip today? glad kapars put your mind at rest, I was getting a stitch like pain for a while but just assumed it was all the walking about while xmas shopping lol

kapars, viksam and del how are you all? Its cold and snowy here so I am wrapping xmas pressies, but have to start gutting the house for Friday, wish I didnt still feel so tired. xxx

kapars · 21/12/2009 12:18

Hi Jbro - Welcome back - good news about the scan! think you might be the first on here to have had the 12 week scan - is that right or has anyone else had it? Mine is not til 29th - I will be nearly 13 weeks then. But did have one at 10 weeks (sent from A and E) and all was well then so am feeling hopeful it will be ok. Fingers crossed.
I have finshed work for Xmas too. I have my booking appointment with mw today - which is very late as I am 11 plus 5 now.
Buckler - as Stac said the sickness comes and goes. Think mine has gone all together now.... Try not to worry. (though I know that is impossible!)
Hope everyone is feeling Xmas-y. Make sure you don't overdo it with the cleaning Stac.
I've been feeling a little bit fed up as my dh has been going to loads of xmas parties and coming home v late while I have been stuck at home!! But then I remember that what is going on inside is much more precious than a few drunk nights out (still not fair though! lol)

kapars · 21/12/2009 13:06

actually spoke too soon. feel really sick again now!! can't face eating anything. yikes!

Buckler · 21/12/2009 13:10

Thanks for replying it's just hard i'm worrying about everything!!! Got a scan booked on the 9th at epu then all being well 12 week scan on 19th. i am very lucky that the epu where i live is so good and supportive.
When is everyone else's 12 wk scan?

stac14 · 21/12/2009 16:48

My 12 week scan is 6th of January but I will be nearly 13 weeks, just looking forward to seeing the baby again lol

Try not to stress buckler I know its really hard, my gp gave me a bit of a pep talk about it as I am generally quite an anxious person so I have been trying hard not to panic

kapars hope your feeling better hun, Dp wont let me overdo it cos he is a worrier lol

blackcurrants · 21/12/2009 17:10

Kapars - I keep thinking I've cracked m/s and left it forever, only to wake up vilely sick the next day. Like today - I swing between sick and STARVING like an insane-o-meter! Oh well. Just out walking the dog round our town and ended up inhaling two McD's hamburgers 'to get me home.' Now I have a crappy sour taste in my mouth and I'm terribly thirsty.
I finally managed to get through to the midwives unit at the place where I want to give birth. Now I'm waiting for them to call me back and see if they'll take me on. It's so complicated in America - I'm having a homesick, preg-sick, and generally grumpy day. May eat more crisps...

fairy472 · 22/12/2009 10:46

hippopo · 22/12/2009 10:55

Can I please join?

I will be 12 weeks on Christmas day (ahhhhh)it is our first and have been TTC for two looooooooooong years. Due 8th July.

We have our 12 week scan tomorrow and am very excited and also tiny bit nervous. Don't know why but still a very very tiny part of me feel someone is going to take this away from me. Am also feeling very positive though and over the moon happy. We also hada 9 week scan and everything fine and dandy.

We are going to phone around friends and family Christmas eve and day (ahhhhh!!)

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to being on the journey with all of you.

stac14 · 22/12/2009 11:25

Welcome fairy and hippopo be good to share the journey with you both

hippopo thats lovely your doing the phone round on xmas eve, I'm 12 weeks on new years day. We also took 2 years to conceive, I have polycycstic ovaries. Enjoy your scan hun

fairy Your scan is the day after mine, but you are further on than me lol, this is my 2nd as well but I have an 11 year age gap, mad or what lol

blackcurrant how are you feeling today hun? I put my sea bands back on last night so woke up feeling quite good, think I will just keep them on.

How's everyone else today? xxxx

blackcurrants · 22/12/2009 16:35

Hello everyone! Welcome, fairy and hippopo - I'm so pleased there are lots of 2nd time mums posting here, you seem to be able to reassure me about all the things I'm stressing about! I'm feeling less sick this morning, just got back from a pretty dog walk in the snow, and husband is cleaning the kitchen - how cool is that?

Have worked out how to sleep on my side (Big cushion between massive thighs, high pillow) without hurting my hip or neck - so I'm in a better mood about everything! Still waiting for Midwives to call me back and say if they can take me on or not. If they can't, I have to try another group of midwives - weird US system!
I'm feeling impatient cos I really want to get booked-in in time for a 12 week scan, so I'm feeling really impatient!

del1 · 23/12/2009 19:37

Hi everyone, hope you're all ready for xmas !? I feel great today, morning sickness has defo gone !! ( 13 1/2 wks) Virus has long gone aswell! And to top it off, had my physio session which consisted of a back massage for half an hour ! got home home from work, and boyf had my tea ready ! bliss ! x

hippopo · 24/12/2009 08:32

Hi JBroRo,

Sounds like I am in similar position to you re abnormal smears. I had a routine smear days before I conceived and results came through when I was 8 weeks.

I have high grade (CIN3) abnormalities and need to have colposcopy every 8 weeks until baby is born and then treatment 6 weeks after birth. It really, really freaked me out at first but with everything I have read and speaking to consultant I feel a bit more reassured that nothing much will happen in the next 6 months and it will be treated following birth. Still a bit of a worry though.

Am now just focusing on pregnancy until my next appt in Feb. Had 12 week scan yesterday and all well and we are not starting to tell everyone.

Take care and have a good Christmas

xxxx
PS due 3rd July

minimouse88 · 24/12/2009 09:16

Hi - i'm 10 (almost 11) weeks pregnant with my first baby - yippeeee!!!! and am due on 16th July 2010, although won't find out properly until my dating scan which hasn't been booked yet. Have been sufferring horribly with nausea that is worse some days than others and i've been getting lots of period pains etc like lots of the other ladies. I'm very cautious until i've had my scan so am not getting too excited about it until then. Am v nervous about the neuchal side of things as well, not for any reason other than i worry about just about everthing!!! Anyways must sign off now, its been great reading lots of the posts.xxx

kapars · 24/12/2009 10:51

Welcome fairy, hippopo and mimimouse!
And to all you ladies have a wonderful Xmas and New Year.
I no longer fit in any of my trousers at just 12 weeks this week so was forced to splash out on some nice maternity jeans and tops the oter day which made me very happy.
Still feeling a bit nauseous though getting better and my hip and back still playing up.
del - did you get referred for physio through your GP or midwife? I need to get some.
Had one tiny sip of my husband's beer yesterday and it was like nectar of the Gods.
Have a great day tomorrow ladies and take it easy! xx

stac14 · 24/12/2009 12:24

Hope everyone has a fab xmas. I'm looking forward to my xmas dinner just hope ms stays away so I can enjoy it lol.

How's evryone else today? Are you all sorted for tomorrow? XxXx

JBroRo · 24/12/2009 13:15

Hello all July ladies,

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Let's hope that we all manage to relax and enjoy all the festive food (fingers crossed)!

Hippopo - thanks for your message, it's reassuring to know that there are others in the same boat. I'm seeing a consultant on the 20th Jan.

After my scan last week my due date was moved forward to the 29th June. Hope no-one thinks Im a fraud for being in this group now! . I think chances are though that the baby will arrive in July!!

blackcurrants · 24/12/2009 16:29

Hello!
Almost ready for Christmas - guests arriving tonight and going to stay for a week. How am I going to get up to pee in the night from an airmattress? eek!
Also still have to do a supermarket trip. Not looking forward to that one, I must say.
Happy Christmas to all! Enjoy some delicious mocktails, and get your feet up!

del1 · 24/12/2009 22:53

Well, have just sat down for the first time today !! Waiting for the other half to come home from work, but doubt I will stay awake that long ?
Kapars - I am lucky that work refered me to physio,my back has been dodgy on and off for a few years after I injured it lifting something at work!
The physio was a bit reluctant to do anything with me, being so early in pregnancy. So just been doing pilate type exercises so far! She said I have a 'rumbling' disk?
Merry Xmas all x
