I am 38 weeks today. Have been taking raspberry leaf capsules since 33 weeks, been troughing the pineapple and actually had SEX today! How about you?

Bubbaloo2 · 07/11/2009 09:48

Hi Katster,

I took an 1000mg Evening Primrose capsule as a pessary last week, had mild period pains all night but then just needed the loo the next day. I took that as a sign he wasnt ready.

Am rocking on all fours and using birthing ball. I wish I knew what position he was in!!

Aiming for a long walk today...off to make raspberry tea

I am! I am SO uncomfy!!! Haven't tried any accelerants yet- but with DS- sex, curry, a long walk and a sweep worked! Off for hike later!

Am with you....

Bubbaloo2 · 07/11/2009 18:01

Long walk has not worked...I even think all the rocking I did yesterday has turned him back-to-back now :-(

Am very frustrated as I want him to be in the right position before I go hell for leather with every type of self inducing trick!

38 weeks on tuesday. Had false alarm when thought waters had gone on thursday but baby still hanging on in there. DD was born at 36 weeks and I'm not a patient person.
Have resigned myself will go full 40 weeks or more!
Having strong braxton hicks today, but been having them for weeks and weeks. They are slightly more uncomfortable but in no way regular.
I'm having a home birth. Not straying far from the house is driving me crazy. Today I felt like someone's granny when DH took me out to a cafe for tea and cakes!

katster37 · 07/11/2009 19:12

Bubbaloo also had a long walk today, nothing though... I may try the evening primrose thing in a few days!

biggernow · 07/11/2009 22:24

walk didn't work for me either.......
I have dreadful wind. my poor DH. I am resigning myself to 40 weeks...given DS came 40+2......and that was with encouragement......
Anyway - night night all.....off for another night of huge discomfort, weeing every 2 hours and braxton hicks!

prettyfly1 · 07/11/2009 22:42

whats the evening primrose thing and does it work??

ErikaMaye · 08/11/2009 03:28

waves 39 weeks on Monday. I'm bored now, and I want my little man here to hug him! Have been having contractions inconsistently for the past few days, some of which have been really strong, but am most certainly still pregnant... Am awake again because of them, and of course as soon as I woke up I had the worst pins and needles in my hands. grumpy DP is sleeping away quite happily

I think I shall eat some pineapple...

Bubbaloo2 · 08/11/2009 08:43

Prettyfly1 : the Evening primrose thing is to insert a 1000mg capsule as far up as you can towards your cervix and it should soften it. Do this every day if you are ready. I have heard you can do 2 then 3 a day...

however it just made me rush to the loo the entire next day as baby was not ready.

You can take them as normal pills but havent tried that yet.

I have read the spinning babies website to get this baby into the right position.. maybe it will give me a sign then. Have woken every hour last night due to anxiety about being back to back :-(

Bubbaloo mine was back to back and finally moved at about 37+5 - I hadn't noticed, but MW said yesterday that it's definitely in the right place. I daren't sit back on the settee in case it wriggles back though!

I read you can take 4 - 6 evening primrose oil capsules orally - tbh I think I prefer the sound of this to 'putting it up'!! Mine are eve primrose with vit e - do you think the vit e is ok?

Erika hello!! Any more strong contractions?

I had a lot of strong braxton hicks, but nothing else to report.... I WANT MY BABY!!!

lindso · 08/11/2009 09:22

I'm 38 weeks today. DD came pretty much bang on time. Just finished work and having major building work starting in a week. Feel like I'm on the edge of a mountain about to be chucked off....

ErikaMaye · 08/11/2009 09:46

Bubbaloo he's back to back as well. Have been on my hands and knees a lot, but getting back up is a mission!!! My MW said that with strong enough contractions during labour, he will turn but I dunno... Still scary.

Katster no, they eased off last night. Guess I should be okay with it, knowing he'll turn up when he's ready but still... I hope your BHs lead to something!!!

Can you take evening oil of primrose with raspberry leaf tea? I guess being scared of giving birth is silly, because it has to happen, but still...

Bubbaloo2 · 08/11/2009 10:29

ErikaMaye Hi there,

I would say yes to taking both. They both help to soften the cervix... I have read posts by people who have done both.

Also the pineapple has to be fresh for the right chemicals...dont bother with tins... unless desperate!!

Unlucky timing with building work Lindso... dont envy you there! Hope they finish and clean up before baby arrives.

I'm 38 weeks on Thurs and have had absolutely no labour imminent symptoms. No BH, no twinges, no show, nothing, nada! Probably a good thing as we're not quite ready but I am impatient nonetheless and have been bouncing on my ball like it's going out of fashion. I've also done plenty of walking.

Hubby managed to find an article online that claims prostaglandins are better absorbed through the gut than the vagina. I hope things don't get that desperate

Bubbaloo2 · 08/11/2009 18:44

Hi Mrssixx

Do you have the link for the article.. would be interested to read it.

Hiya, I'll be 38 weeks on Thursday - currently cripped with horrendous SPD/PGP so I may try the DIY evening primrose oil induction if I can't get stuff moving courtesy of the midwife.

I remember what got me going with DS 2 years ago was walking - lots and lots and LOTS of walking. The day before I gave birth I walked 4 miles (not all at once - went for 3 shortish walks). Obviously that's not an option this time due to being on crutches (and even then it hurts like hell) so I'll be opting for the spicy curry and clary sage baths options. Pineapple also not an option for me as I'm allergic!! I found out last time that the stuff in fresh pineapple that induces labour (called bromelain - only found in the core of fresh pineapple, NOT tinned) made my come up with ulcers and blisters on my mouth so bad that the skin on the inside of my mouth all peeled off, and I STILL didn't go into labour!

Fingers crossed I can avoid a c-section, I really don't fancy 6 weeks of STILL being unable to pick up DS.

funtimewincies · 08/11/2009 20:16

Hello, 37 weeks today and dh has gone abroad this week with work so I'm doing the opposite and sending my baby vibes to stay put for the time being !

Yesterday I was getting fairly regular tightenings and the baby was giving my groin a good old punching. I was also getting a strange 'bulging' feeling but that might just be my slightly prolapsed bladder, my souvenir from ds . Luckily, things have settled down today - phew.

I can't advise on getting things moving I'm afraid as I ended up being induced 2 weeks over with ds.

I'm 38 weeks today, if pregnnacy is same as DD's then baby will come on Wed (38+2) or DS's then it'll be next Wed (39+2) - but sods law says i'll go over!! Can't say i'm getting impatient as for some reason i don't really feel prepared for the labour / baby (everything is ready, just mentally!) so a little bit laid back on when it all happens (doubt i'll be saying that this time next week).

Am looking forwrd to beng a bit more mobile with a very lazy 16month old & a very active 2 and a bit year old!! Think they are getting vey sick of having a fat tummied mummy!

Last 2 labours got going after a load of pineapple, a curry and walking a lot. With DD I got so desperate we even had sex (shock horror!)

LifeOfKate · 09/11/2009 08:15

I'm 38 weeks on Wednesday. Part of me is excited about the baby arriving, but the other part is thinking I have far too much to do before it arrives!! We have a new bed being delivered on Friday, so it can't be before then, as I need to be here to let delivery men in .
In all seriousness though, I have absolutely no signs of imminent labour (even BH have decreased!), so not expecting baby to arrive until at least due date, probably way over...

ErikaMaye · 09/11/2009 10:21

Right - tried the sex thing a couple of times this weekedn (don't know if I feel more sorry for myself with the SPD, or for DP attempting to mount me ) I have more fresh pineapple in the fridge. I would consider the Primrose right now if I thought I could reach Haven't been able to do any pernial massage because I can't!! I'm such a shortie...
