No bath in the house, only a shower?

Wasn't sure where to post this! Does anyone who already has children NOT have a bath in the house? We only have a shower, and I'm wondering how long i'm going to be able to bath DC (am 26 weeks) in the baby bath? And then what? Put it in the shower?

I realise most of the world don't have baths, and seem to manage, but how will it work in England??

I know someone who still bathes their nearly 2 year old in a baby bath, both of them quite happy with it.

For my part I never had a baby bath, he was in the big sink until he went into the main bath. Not sure what I'd do now without a bath, as he's very cautious of showers but that might be a result of never having experienced one.

we do have a bath but i thought i'd reply anyway!
actually i thought it was relating to you, cos i weas gpiong to say when i got to a certain stage of pg i just couldn't stand in the shower any more and had to have nice lie-down baths lol

as for kids, mine were all out of the baby bath by about 6 months, i think it would be really pretty difficult to shower a baby/toddler tbh
specially if they're like my 3- hate hacving water on their faces.

you can get a thing that sits in the shower cubicle though i think, i'll see if i can find it, saw someone link to it on ehre ages ago

sil has a 7 month old and only a shower. I'm not quite sure how she does it but she does do it and her baby is lovely and not SMELLY! Baby baths are pretty massive tbh.

ahh i can't find it now, i hope the person who posted it sees this though.
it was a foreign site i think, and it had a frame with a plastic inner and you sat it in the shower cubicle and used it like a bath

My two have had showers since really young - at three months or so I carried them in there, then they used to sit down under the running shower, and as soon as they could stand up they've had showers every morning. So they're not at all scared, which I understand some children are.

I always put bath mats down so it isn't slippy. My 2.5 year old showers on her own, with a bit of help from me applying soap, but she's pretty good at washing herself and rinsing off.

Thank you so much!!1 I was looking whilst MN was having problems and search function not working.

We're having to have our bath taken out and that will be our back up if dd won't take to the shower!

Could you see measurements anywhere?

Wow - i didn't think anyone would respond to such a crazy question. Thank you so much to all those answers - both reassuring me about the possibility, and the bibabath link! It looks like so much fun to me! Will probably get one of those when it grows out of baby bath!! x

same as wondering here. We do not have a bath so dd who is 3.8 has always gone in the shower with daddy. It is their special thing. She is completely fearless in the water now and not at all scared of having water on her face. If you are having difficulties with the transition into the shower I would suggest taking lots of plastic bowls, whisks, jugs etc in with you and getting a bottle or two of really cheap shower gel and letting them play away. Dd spends hours in their making 'mixtures' and 'soups'.

we live in India where baths are not that common. We bought a big plastic round tub which our 18 month old loves and works very well. Uses a lot less water than a bath too and not so much chance of him slipping around!

How big is your shower? When my 1st 2 were born we just had the shower upstairs but it's one of those big rectangles with a kind of "drying off" section outside the shower itself. The baby bath fitted in that perfectly. We now have a wetroom downstairs as well so won't be a problem for DC3 as there's lots of space.

And the we got them in the shower as soon as we could. With DC1 this was when he started walking at 14 months, but DC2 wanted a shower earlier - as soon as he could crawl he was constantly trying to climb out of the baby bath / into the shower when someone else was in there.

Huge positive is that they have never complained about having water on their heads / faces as some of their friends do.

we sort of have the same dilemma. we have moved to new house with only a shower. kids are ok in the shower, but they miss soaking in the tub. Also, even with the heating on in the bathroom, they get cold really quick, probably cos shower is not very good.... anyway, was looking on internet and found this www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002EPXK56/sr=8-6/qid=1257517967/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid =1257517967&sr=8-6&seller= on amazon which is a folding bath but much cheaper than the one above, anyone got one?

I lived in a flat with just a shower until dd was 10 months old. It became a bit of a nightmare tbh. Baby baths will wreck your back and the sink was just too small. It was far too cold to expect her to just sit in the shower. I think if you can live with it it shouldn't be a problem, but for me I was glad that we moved when we did

DS is 18 months and still baths in the baby bath which I put inside the bigger bath - I don't like wasting water by running a big bath for a little boy (a hangover from my childhood in drier climes).

He also likes the shower but is inclined to get mucky and usually needs to seep in the bath in order to get the dirt off.

Baby baths are fine but it's better in the early days to stand them on a dresser or kitchen counter than bending over with a slippery bundle. Carrying a bath filled with water is not much fun though.

We did not have a bath when DS was from 6 to 18 months, and we managed to bath him in a small portable bath tub which we used to put in shower sink. It is more fun in the big bath now but it is still possible to bath properly in a small baby bath.

DS is 3.9 and we don't have a bath (kills me!) but he still has his baby bath. He just sits with his knees bent (think old style bath position) and loves it.
He also has showers and will get his hair wet no problem, I gently introduced him to them by taking him in with me. Now he will stay in the shower for ages, especially if I let him have the shower head.
He loves 'washing' the walls and screens.

That folding bath looks good but it is very small - only 23cm wide? The smallest bibbabath is 70 x 70!

cargirl, I saw that too, and I measured our shower tray and it won't fit in there. I liked the idea of the bibbabath fitting in the actual shower, suppose will be easier for filling and if it leaks!!
Not sure what is the best idea...

We have one of these, it's bigger than a normal baby bath, dd3 who's 3 can still fit in it, although she mostly showers now.
