Bikini Wax while Pregnant

any experiences of getting bikini wax, or even brazillian wax, while pregnant? am i ridicilous for even thinking this may be a good idea?

Not at all, I'm a brazilian fan, though I have now stopped as in last pegnancy only because at my size (nearly 7 months) I feel very 'naked' even with a towel to cover me. I have heard people say your skin is more sensitive but if you are usedto having it done it still makes you wince pregnant or not!!!

I went to have it done when I was about 7/8 weeks pregnant and she wouldn't do it because I hadn't had one before. I think if you're used to it (i.e. it won't shock you) and/or you're out of the first trimester then you're ok, but I hadn't even thought they would refuse to do it.

I had brazilians the whole way through my last pregnancy towards the end I could see DD wriggling around when the hot wax went on my lower abdomen! But no problems whatsoever, particularly if you're used to them. It used to help me feel a bit more feminine and groomed.

I've since stopped having them partly because of time/expense but also problems with ingrown hairs on the bikini line (sorry TMI probably but it's such a pain) so now shave but I can imagine that'll get more tricky as time goes on so might have one last wax before the birth

Had a standard bikini wax at 38 weeks and all was fine, did hurt more than usual, which is why I didn't go for the brazilian.

I've only just started having (standard!) bikini waxes since being pregnant and finding it a lot more verdant down there. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't when pregnant? I have to say being a novice waxer I find that it hurts, A LOT. I can't imagine how much a Brazilian would hurt

I've just had a brazilian at 38 weeks pregnant, had only had standard waxes before that but wanted to be very neat for after the birth. Didn't find it very painful, just a bit uncomfortable for the last 5 mins or so.

somethinganything you'll probably find ingrown hairs even worse with shaving! You should exfoliate your bikini line twice a week with a grainy scrub, moisturise and also use something called Tend Skin which prevents and treats ingrown hairs.

Try doing it yourself with a tub of hot microwaveable wax from Boots and the cotton strips from the Body Shop - its less painful than someone else doing it and far cheaper.

I typically have Brazilians or Hollywoods... was fine early on (1st trimester) but booked in for a brazilian at about 24 weeks and had to revert to a standard bikini half way through. Was astonished by the pain! I knew people had said it hurt more when pg etc but I just pooh-poohed it. I have to say, I'll be having my c/s with a hairy minge n- cannot possibly face the waxing again this side of pregnancy

Have just come back from my Brazilian and full leg wax (am 37 weeks) as I'm booked in for CS next week and can't even see my bits without a mirror, never mind shave them usefully before the operation.

Hurt a bit, but not nearly as much as getting my eyebrows plucked. And it's a second of pain per rip then it's all over. And at least I won't have to worry about stubble around the wound while it's healing or hairy legs while I'm in the hospital (yes I'm vain ). It's even more inelegant than getting it done when you're not pregnant as you have to contort yourself round your bump, but the lady who does my waxing says she gets loads of pregnant ladies in and is used to getting around it.

Give me the name and number of your waxing person lucky1979 - I might have to travel length and breadth of country to get one that doesn't hurt. Must say that mine doesn't even put hand over quickly (you know as some of them do) to take the hurt away..... I know exactly where you're coming from on getting sorted before the CS!

my beautician said that she often does brazillians for people having elective CS, rather than them waiting to be shaved. i will be going for my ususal bikini wax before the big day. have found waxing a tad more painful than ususal, whilst PG, but not too bad. go for it!

God, I had just a normal bikini wax at about 20w and nearly hit the roof (and generally have a pretty high pain threshold). The lady actually stopped doing it because she said she could see me swelling up and starting to look a bit 'raw' (nice). Mind you I did already have probs with varicose veins in my upper thighs and increased blood flow to lady bits... Seems that I am in the minority though, you'll prob be fine! (Just ask them to stop if it's agony.) Good luck!

I had my bikini line done at 17 weeks and it was fine. I am booked for a brazilian next week when I'll be 24 weeks. I want to tidy this up as I can't do it myself as I can't see down there anymore!

I didn't wax at all when pg with dd and let things get a little lush down there (well I couldn't see it so it didn't matter!) but this time round I want to feel a little more groomed. Having a large roomful of people staring at an unkempt fanjo was actually more mortifying than nearly giving birth in the car park

I was waxed in 1st trimester and didnt find it any more painful than normal. Also - you're not really telling people then are you?

I just found it really v v v painful later on but think, as some on here havent found it particularly bad that I just need to find an alternative waxist!

I'm still managing to do my own brazilian at 28 weeks by pushing belly out of the way. My partner may have to start doing it soon though!

I guess you can take a paracetamol before getting waxed if you're out of the first trimester can't you? Or is that not allowed now? It's been aaages since I was pregnant with dd so I suspect all the rules have changed

I too was mortified by my big bush when giving birth to dd - she came 3 weeks early, just before I was about to get myself sorted. Ridiculous I know
