Creative ways of telling the grandparents-to-be???

I would really like a creative way of telling our parents that we are expectant parents, any ideas and/or experiences that were fun?!

We wrote them a card and watched them open it.
it read 'dear grandad 7 grandma, i will be arriving on the dd/mm/yy. I'm looking forward to meeting you then. baby newsocks. xx'

I asked my mum whether she wanted to be called granny, nana or grandma. It took her a few minutes to figure out what I was going on about but then she just started screaming and crying at me (in a good way)

wait until you have a scan pic then hand them a photo album with it in amongst the other photos or pick a date after the baby will be born and ask if they can babysit!

We went round for sunday lunch and dad opened a bottle and went to pour me some and I said no thanks, que very strange stares and why not from mum and dad, II replied that I'm not allowed....cause i'm pregant. Big smiles and mum crying and she wasn't even able to eat her lunch she was so excited!!

With second baby, I showed the pregnancy test to my grandmother and asked her opinion on whether she could see a line or not. She was so busy squinting at it, it took her a few moments to realise what it was

Dh casually told them to dish up a second serving for me as i was eating for two. Then we waited to see how long it took to sink in. Not very long

I just said "how you do feel about being grandparents then?" and my mum went into a flat spin and couldn't even make a cup of tea!

all great! thanks guys! I think i might do the wrap up the frame with the first scan pic. I have the added problem of the fact that my family lives overseas so will need to tell them they have to phone us before they open the present (good because i do that frequently) Wooohoo!! This is the fun bit!!!

we had all the gp's round for lunch and gave them all a little wrapped present. Inside I had put hideously cheesy cheap mugs saying things like "World's Best Grandma" etc.I then hid in the kitchen opening a bottle of champagne while DH and I waited for them all to work it out......

I told my dad I'd got him a present for his birthday, but it had to be delivered and usually took nine months . Very cheesey! He cottoned on straight away but my mum sat there wondering out loud what on earth could take nine months to be delivered.

Ours found out in various ways, none particularly exciting! I told my mum quite early, called my dad up to tell him (they are not together), and we told DH's parents over curry. DH was supposed to tell them, but got halfway through and chickened out, so I had to tell them the rest!

Contemplated telling them by text and then turning my phone off for a few days In actual fact, turned up at my Mum's workplace on Comic Releif day - because I knew she couldn't bollock me in front of a room full of two year olds Told Dad he might want to sit down for a bit... DP called his step-dad, and left a voicemail, asking him to tell his mum because he couldn't...

My friend recently got her partner to tell her mum via facebook - wouldn't recommend that particular route!!!

I gave my mum a grain of rice on Mothers Day with her card and as she sat squinting at it asking did it have her name wrote on it told her 'no, thats how big my baby is now!' (I was 6 weeks at the time) She promptly threw it in the air crying then made us search down the back of the sofa to find it again, apparently giving her another grain out of the big asda bag wouldnt have been the same, she had to keep that one

oooo...now thats good boogellyboo...i might tell my mum to go and get a grain of rice over the phone then say that (they live overseas)...i like that!! LOL at your mum needing that grain back though..lol, both my DH and i are in line for twins...fingers crossed i only need one grain of rice....but would be ecstatic about two!

I asked my mum what she was doing on Due date and asked her is she could look after dd. Didnt really work as she said it was too far away to commit.
I then said, well, your second grandchild is due on that date so it might not exactly be that day.

Thinking of something better for dc3 (currently 8+6)

Oh and with dd, I wrapped up some knitting wool and needles and gave them her for xmas.
She looked very confused, and finally warmed up to the idea about a month later!

With DS1 our 12 week point fell just after Christmas week. I gave my mum a wrapped up present. It was a knitting pattern for a baby jacket and a note asking her if she could make this by the 11th July. (Sent DP all the way to John Lewis, Oxford St for the pattern as couldn't get a local one anywhere!)

The only mistake - I gave it to her just before Christmas Dinner - she didn't eat a thing!

Just found out - pregnant with No 2. Might do the same again or might just get Ds1 to give her a card with the scan picture in it.

The parents of one of the girls in my NCT group live overseas and they were chatting to them over Skype apparently and asked for the parents opinion on their new purchases and held up a baby gro. The girl said they were quite tempted not to say anything and just go and visit with the new baby!

As for me, I was watching TV with my parents and there was an advert for nappies being half price somewhere and I said that I might as well stock up. It took a while for the penny to drop but then there were lots of shrieks and tears.
