I would really like a creative way of telling our parents that we are expectant parents, any ideas and/or experiences that were fun?!

I found out i was pregnany on December 16th. i waited to tell my Mum till we saw them at Christmas. I gave her a Xmas card address to nanny and Grandad and wrote inside 'to Nanny & Grandad.....see you in 34 weeks. Love baby.

Took a few seconds for her to realise - then she cried !!

PBR just watched the link and I'm also in floods on tears. I want to tell my family again

My booking-in appt was just before Christmas and the mw did a foetal heartbeat scan on the audio thing, so it was like an early scan. DP recorded it on his phone right there (took a lot of attempts, mw was very patient with us!) We were giving both sets of parents those digi photo frames anyway, so we loaded the audio on it and waited for them to notice. Actually we'd told my parents already because otherwise we knew there'd be no non-alcoholic drinks in the house and we were going there over Christmas. DP's parents didn't get it at all, they asked their neighbour what she thought this funny noise was when they switched their present on. But after that they loved it!

Lynette you're wicked - nearly spat my coffee out.

With dc3 I could barely tell my mum as i was laughing so hysterically as it was a total surprise and dc2 was still a baby.

Congratulations!

We told my parents that dd had learnt something new today, shes 20mo and they were expecting a new word or dance. We then told them she had learnt she was going to be a big sister. My mam clicked immediately but it took a few seconds for dad to catch on.

P.S at 6 weeks pg this thread is not good for my emotional instability. Welling up at each post.

Not the same but... for DH I found his tshirt with 'Who's the Daddy!?' on it and put 2 pregnancy tests on it on the bed, he came home from work, went to get changed and just stood staring at it for a good few minutes!

My Mum knits a lot and my brother and sister-in-law handed her a baby pattern and asked her when she would be starting to knit. She was ecstatic and has since knitted loads of gorgeous stuff for my nephews and my DS. And DC2 will be next.

I disovered promotions company which could organise those banners behind aeroplanes. So they hired a plane, and tied a banner to the back with "LYNETTE is HAVING A BABY" on it. It was flown over my parents house when I went round for sunday lunch.

Oh and for some heart warming videos if you go on You Tube there are loads of Grandparents finding out - alot are cheesy and most are American but it's all very heart-warming.

like this one

Honestly - you will now be here all night going from one to the next....

At DBIL wedding we told DH's Grandparents - (3 of them) - BIL asked us to btw.

We said - now it's all over etc. (at reception) we have some news too - all 3 said in unison "You're pregnant"

We said "how do you know?"

They said (again in unison) "PBR isn't drunk yet..."

The parents of one of the girls in my NCT group live overseas and they were chatting to them over Skype apparently and asked for the parents opinion on their new purchases and held up a baby gro. The girl said they were quite tempted not to say anything and just go and visit with the new baby!

As for me, I was watching TV with my parents and there was an advert for nappies being half price somewhere and I said that I might as well stock up. It took a while for the penny to drop but then there were lots of shrieks and tears.

With DS1 our 12 week point fell just after Christmas week. I gave my mum a wrapped up present. It was a knitting pattern for a baby jacket and a note asking her if she could make this by the 11th July. (Sent DP all the way to John Lewis, Oxford St for the pattern as couldn't get a local one anywhere!)

The only mistake - I gave it to her just before Christmas Dinner - she didn't eat a thing!

Just found out - pregnant with No 2. Might do the same again or might just get Ds1 to give her a card with the scan picture in it.

"Hey mum and dad, I'm up the duff!"

Short and sweet

Oh and with dd, I wrapped up some knitting wool and needles and gave them her for xmas.
She looked very confused, and finally warmed up to the idea about a month later!

I asked my mum what she was doing on Due date and asked her is she could look after dd. Didnt really work as she said it was too far away to commit.
I then said, well, your second grandchild is due on that date so it might not exactly be that day.

Thinking of something better for dc3 (currently 8+6)

I gave my mum a grain of rice on Mothers Day with her card and as she sat squinting at it asking did it have her name wrote on it told her 'no, thats how big my baby is now!' (I was 6 weeks at the time) She promptly threw it in the air crying then made us search down the back of the sofa to find it again, apparently giving her another grain out of the big asda bag wouldnt have been the same, she had to keep that one

Contemplated telling them by text and then turning my phone off for a few days In actual fact, turned up at my Mum's workplace on Comic Releif day - because I knew she couldn't bollock me in front of a room full of two year olds Told Dad he might want to sit down for a bit... DP called his step-dad, and left a voicemail, asking him to tell his mum because he couldn't...

My friend recently got her partner to tell her mum via facebook - wouldn't recommend that particular route!!!

Congrats

Ours found out in various ways, none particularly exciting! I told my mum quite early, called my dad up to tell him (they are not together), and we told DH's parents over curry. DH was supposed to tell them, but got halfway through and chickened out, so I had to tell them the rest!

I told my dad I'd got him a present for his birthday, but it had to be delivered and usually took nine months . Very cheesey! He cottoned on straight away but my mum sat there wondering out loud what on earth could take nine months to be delivered.
