I'm in pieces for no real reason. I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Scan tomorrow but with two miscarriages, I'm really terrified something will go wrong,. and work is being really unsopportive and I have no way out.I'm feeling sick all the time, and exhausted. And I asked in laws to watch ds for for an hour tomorrow afternoon so dh can come to scan with me and they said no, so now I'm going to have to go on my own, and I just feel very alone, and not sure how I'm going to cope.

Good luck today x

Kayzr · 04/09/2009 07:17

Good Luck!!

I had 3 scans with DS2 and DS1 came to all of them. I think it depends on the sonographer.

Harimosmummy · 04/09/2009 07:20

Good luck today,

I had to go to all my AN appts and scans without DH and it's horrid sometimes. I also took DS to my appts with DD - he didn't mind abit and seemed to like the day out!!!

Hope it all goes well.

Weegle · 04/09/2009 07:27

Good luck today

I also recommend takng DH and DS with you - I needed to take them with me to mine (DS same age) and my scan was 1hr 40 min (twins, one in the wrong position for the measurements!). DS was brilliant for about an hour but then DH walked him around the hospital. But it's that first bit, all the waiting you need DH there for, so even if that happens you'll have him for the bit you need...

Have a lovely day oranges

I have never had a mc but am always unreasonably nervous before 12wk scans (had 2, both fine), the thought of doing it without DH would terrify me.
How mean of your in-laws to deny him the first look at his new little one

4andnotout · 04/09/2009 07:36

I have always taken my dc's into the scanning room with me, last time there were 3 dc's a pushchair and dp!

Good luck for today Oranges

Good luck Oranges.

PanicMode · 04/09/2009 08:45

Good luck today (I've taken my DCs into a scan before - your DH can take your DS out if he gets difficult?)

mustrunmore · 04/09/2009 08:56

Did you sort out what you're doing? I'd have gladly come with you if I didnt have two kids here . Mine would absolutely not be trusted anywhere like that!!! I've had severe tooth problems for the last couple of days and keep wondering how i'd get to a&e if ity came to it, with these two in tow...
Enjoy your scan; it'll be fine

suwoo · 04/09/2009 09:02

Good luck today oranges. I also took my 2 year old DS into all three scans with DS2. Definitely get DH to come to the hospital with you.

AngelaCarleen · 04/09/2009 09:08

I went to my 12 week scan on my own as DH is away and all of my friends were very busy (I'm sure they would have come if I asked them to, but I was a bit embarrassed asking for someone to come and hold my hand , especially as I had already had three scans). I had a threatened miscarriage and this is our first baby so I was absolutely terrified and very tearful.

If you can I would take DH and DS along, while I was waiting there were loads of people there with their children, and at the end of the day a new arrival is something exciting for the whole family not just mum and dad and the sonographers should be used to it.

Good luck today.

Good Luck Oranges.
I'd had one MC, so when I got pg again I was quite relucatant to take DD to the 12wk scan with me (she was 3.5yrs then). We had to take her though due to no relatives close by. A bag of Hula-Hoops kept her quiet during the scan! Hula-Hoops were a real treat for her so she savoured every one!
When DD asked why were at the hospital I explained that we were going to see if there was anything in my tummy- we didn't say the wod baby just incase. After the missed-MC we were not taking any chances.
All the very best. Please post an update.

Bibithree · 04/09/2009 09:15

Oranges, I'm sure it'll be fine to take your ds. They aren't keen on it at our hospital and have signs up asking to not bring small children where possible, BUT if you haven't another option, they really aren't going to say anything.

Good luck, try and enjoy it, I'm sure you will once you relax and post back to let us know how it was

pecanpie · 04/09/2009 09:24

Good luck today. Been in the same situation so know exactly how you feel (eyes closed, feeling nervous until they confirmed everything was ok - and that was after 4 prior scans in the EPU). Why don't you take DS with so that you have DH there for support too? My hospital (NW London)were absolutely fine about it - even had toys in the waiting room!

scoutandjem · 04/09/2009 09:32

Thinking of you, best of luck.

I took my DS1 to scan aged 2 ish and he just sat in chair playing with new toy. Scanner lady said it wasn't prob. at all.

oranges · 04/09/2009 10:22

Thank you all for your support. Things seem a bit more cheeful today. Dh has taken ds out for the morning, in the hope of tiring him out, then we will take him along to the scan. I'm going to run myself a bath. It's also made it clear that I need a local babysitter that I can call on for times like this.

Good luck Oranges, thinking of you today will come back later to see how you get on!

ZippysMum · 04/09/2009 15:11

How did it go?

oranges · 04/09/2009 17:57

There's a baby! A very stubborn, active one who would not lie still to allow sonographer to take measurements easily. I kept having to roll onto my side and back, to persuade the bean to get into the right position. NOw just have to wait for results of combined test.
I took dh and ds - ds behaved beautifully throughout - just sat there and clutched his toy giraffe. THank you again for all your support.
