Due Friday and bored to tears, have tried everything I can. Trying to tempt fate tonight by sending hubby to the football under strict instructions to go to the pub and have a few pints afterwards.

Have started just to shout 'get out!' to my stomach like some old mad lady. It doesnt appear to be listening

If it keeps going like this, I'm going to ask work if I can come back for a few days!

puffylovett · 09/09/2009 21:01

ah AWTF those photos are lovely ! That one of the 3 of you = so cute. How is DS1 coping ?

Hope you other girls get your homebirths.. I know how disappointing it is to miss out due to going overdue. I didn't get induced with DS1, but did have to go into hospital - which was actually not too bad in the end, nice dim room, toilet in the en suite - it was afterwards that wasn't so good ! They wouldn't let me leave grrr. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you

AwayWithTheFaries · 10/09/2009 19:34

thanks puffy ds1 is being pretty good bless him hes starting school tomorrow

holliejobber · 11/09/2009 09:22

Well im still here... 40+13 today. Off to the hospital later on for some monitering as i declined induction. Feeling a bit fed up and not really in the mood to fight any pushy midwives! Why cant they just except that some people have longer pregnancys than others! grrrr

Ah Hollie

When you get there, explain to them that high levels of catecholamines produced during stress inhibits the production of Oxytocin, therefore delaying labour even further

can't you tell I was reading up last night, in preperation ! I've got my discussion re induction booked for next friday which I think is my actual due date, but at that point I will be 5 days 'overdue'.

I shall be declining.

Are you going to still push for a homebirth ? I've also booked myself an acupuncture appointment for next week in readiness - never tried it before for childbirth, but apparently it gets good results. Fingers crossed for you Hollie... good luck

holliejobber · 11/09/2009 11:09

Thanx puffy! Its good to know im not on my own. I went 21 days over with my last dd, and have changed my due date this time to my scan dates to give me more time. By my periods im actually 17 days overdue!

OP posts:
puffylovett · 11/09/2009 13:47

They've changed the regs up here, so they insist on using the scan date as the more accurate date, rather than LMP. LMP is where I had trouble with my last DC as I have a 33-35 day cycle, so I went '18' days overdue...

more ammo for you - I read last night (yet more research that the margin of error with scan dating was 5-7 days either side in the first trimester, 10-14 days in the 2nd trimester and upto 21 days in the 3rd trimester... as it's based on mathematics rather than the individual babies growth rate.

holliejobber · 11/09/2009 22:01

Well nothing hs happened with my cervix!! All is well with baby though. A very lovely midwife told me after my scan that the babies head is not in the best position. It is looking up and is facing to the right, so this might be the reason I haven't gone into labour yet. she suggested that this might be the way I carry my babies so am always overdue. She gave me some exercises to do(I've forgotten most of them and can only remember 2!!).

Hopefully if I can get the babaies head into a better position it might start happening for me.

She also told me that if I went for induction it would be pretty awful at the moment with the head the way it was and I was probably doing the right thing...hurray!! A supportive midwife..I love her

wow, I nearly fell off my chair in shock at that Hollie ! Is she going to be present at your birth ? How amazing, nice knowledgable supportive midwives DO exist
So good news that all is well (did you expect any different ) but bad news that baby has some shifting to do before you can birth him/her .
How about trying some reflexology or acupuncture ? Did I mention I'm going for acupuncture next week - (probably - brain not working properly anymore )apparently it can be quite effective within 48 hours and make for a shorter birth. Encourages baby to get in correct position and improves blood flow to the uterus...

naturelover · 13/09/2009 13:20

An update - I had my baby on Thursday early morning. I was one of those planning a homebirth. Everything started well and I had a fantastic first stage with two lovely midwives, but second stage was problematic: after pushing for two hours (bearing in mind this is my second baby) it was clear that he wasn't moving. They suspected either brow presentation or cord around his neck so we transferred. Turned out he was brow presentation and I had a c-section.

Poor boy came out with a bruised and swollen brow from being pushed against me so long. Anyway he's big, healthy and beautiful and we're thrilled. I was discharged after 48 hours and am feeling quite well.

Good luck to those of you still waiting for baby to arrive. I look forward to the birth announcements.

Any more news from anyone (Holliejobber )

holliejobber · 15/09/2009 21:54

Hello. Sorry i posted this on the childbirth thread.

I had a show today after some painfull but irregular braxton hicks last night. I have got the same thing tonight, but at least i know something is happening with my cervix.

How about you Puffy? Did you decline the induction?

puffylovett · 17/09/2009 10:28

Yay !!! things are starting to happen, great stuff. It won't be long now

Got my appointment tomorrow to discuss induction, so yes I shall be declining. Had Acupuncture yesterday and baby was SO active all day, lots of tightenings and more movement into the right position. I have another appointment tomorrow, so fingers crossed it will help move things on a bit. I still have another week or so before they decline my homebirth, but I'm not expecting to see baby any time soon, given past experiences and date fiascos

TOMATOQUEEN39 · 17/09/2009 11:21

Hey Puffy,

I've got my appointment on Monday to have the same discussion and am going to say no to induction too. Keep us posted as to how yours goes tomorrow. I'm interested to know whether they'll blackmail you into doing what they want. My hosp says it's their policy to not let you go over 10 days.

Good luck for tom.

holliejobber · 17/09/2009 12:24

I had my baby! Eventually. She was 18days late but it started on its own.

So glad i refused induction. I know Its hard when the midwives are pressuring you.

Congrats to those who've had their babies in the last few days! Me too! Just got out of hospital hell yesterday evening.

Not a single thing on my birth plan happened the way I'd wanted (induced, no water birth, episiotomy) but tbh I was past caring by that point. The labour wasn't too bad once we'd finally convinced the midwife to examine me ('You're not in labour yet...ah yes, you're 6cm. I'll go and get the drugs'). To make up for it she moved us to what seemed like a palatial room (it had chairs and everything).

Malcolm was born on Sunday lunchtime, 8lb 13oz and utterly gorgeous!

mummy2t · 17/09/2009 20:34

congrats lupa xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

liger · 17/09/2009 21:25

Congratulations Lupa, and Hollie and Naurelover and AWTF too! I'm so glad the babies have made it into the world safe and sound.

My ds3 is doing well, 10 days old already. I'm a tired mum of a newborn, but loving it all as he is so gorgeous.

Enjoy the next few days and weeks with your babes.

Gonnabamumma · 17/09/2009 21:49

Hi Ladies, can I join too. I was due yesterday, but have zero happening. First baby, entirely too comfortable! I am feeling pretty dispondent today. Have done the curries, pineapple, reflexology (twice!!), walking, swiss ball bouncing, even the nasty...help!
