people are now emailing me asking for news & photos!!! photos!! .
Will send them photos of what huge bump & very angry stretchmarks look like, this may shut them up for a while, hehe...
Seriously, things wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't for all that kind of unwanted attention, reminding me that, yes, I may be the most annally punctual person on earth, but this baby clearly isn't... 40+9 and counting...

unyummy · 03/09/2009 18:30

I'm still here at 40 + 9, going to be induced tomorrow but think things are slowly happening so fingers crossed for tonight.. i cannot believe people are asking for pictures why dont you take a picture of yourself holding up a big sign saying THERE ISNT A BABY TO TAKE PICTURES OF YET AND WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THERE IS!

My friend who's travelling emailed me 3 weeks ago saying it must be my due date, was i back from hospital yet and hope it all went well and congratulations..beat that for being a bit previous!

holliejobber · 03/09/2009 18:42

I am 40+5 and running out of sarcastic replys to 'have you had that baby yet?' text messages. Yesterday i told everyone i couldn't be sure but i think the coz baby fell out in tesco but i cant be sure. And the day before it was. 'oh god yes im still pregnant thank you for reminding me'

even my mum asked me today on the phone - 'Oh you're still with us then?' meaning - you haven't gone into labour.

Still? I'm not even due till tomorrow.

I wanted to say, 'Oh no Mum. Actually I had the baby yesterday morning but I couldn't be fecked to let you know. I figured you'd find out eventually.'

KateMess · 03/09/2009 19:36

I'm 40 plus 8, so unyummy and mimile just behind you..

I'm bouncing on a swiss ball and trying to ignore the plaintive wails of my mother who seems to think I had it last week and kept her out of the loop...

It's awful though, I went to the mw yesterday and she said 'ooh he's a lazy little toe-rag your baby, can't be bothered to breathe on his own or eat while you're prepared to feed him through his belly button...'. I nearly throttled her...

lupa · 03/09/2009 19:47

lmao at blinder. Why does everyone think you won't tell them? Am I likely to forget? Do they think I won't want to tell the world?

Who knows, maybe I'll change my tune when this baby turns up. I'll be too busy staring at his tiny face to give a toss about anyone else.

AvonBarksdale · 03/09/2009 20:17

Ahh ladies there is hope for us all! Am now 41+1 and went to see wonderful midwife today who did a not too unpleasant sweep and as a result I started contractions about an hour after! They're about 10 mins apart and really not that bad yet although I had forgotten how much this business of birth is going to hurt (is dc2). Good luck to you all - I've no idea how long this will take now (dd was 4 days) but at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. xx

liger · 03/09/2009 20:39

Well I've made it to 40 weeks today, and am just tired. Bending to pick up a crawling boy numerous times a day at full term is not all that much fun!

I'm using an independent midwife (same one I had for ds2, she's wonderful!) and she was here yesterday and we will think about a sweep next week - i'm not in the right headspace yet so unless the full moon has a more powerful affect than the last two times then i expect to still be here next week.

Good luck for those with contractions on the way!

breakingnews · 03/09/2009 20:54

Hello ladies... little update... I am officially in labour now.... just got home from the hospital (my choice to come home).... contractions have been coming since 6 this morning.. every 5 minutes from about 3ish.... went to hospital for about 7pm this evening for a check and I'm 2cm dilated...

decided to come home as I needed to do the washing up ?????

xx

naturelover · 03/09/2009 21:00

Wow Breakingnews - good luck! I'm sure keeping busy and upright is the best way to keep things moving.

I'm not 40 weeks yet and DD was born at 40+5 but I can't help wondering about the full moon theory. I feel so huge and have had a few niggles this week.

Does anyone else have shooting pains in their pelvis/groin? Baby engaging? SPD? Surely if I had SPD it would have appeared earlier than the last week of pregnancy... Baby was 2/5 engaged a week ago but then it's my second baby and I've felt my bump rise and fall a few times since then.

liger · 03/09/2009 21:27

Ooh breakingnews! Well done you! You sound very composed and calm, being home is the perfect place to stay in that frame of mind. Good luck!

Naturelover, yes I'm also getting the occasional shooting pain in the pelvis groin, I think its the head engaging or moving about a bit, but sometimes it feels like there is a hand in there twanging ligaments! I had the same with ds2.

Whitetara · 03/09/2009 21:35

Hello. Thought I'd join you all. I'm 40+1 today and had a sweep and some reflexology yesterday. Show on Monday and Tuesday but nothing much else.

Breakingnews - good for you! I'm jealous. Hope things go well.

Mimile · 03/09/2009 21:45

a few twinges too, but it has proven unproductive so far. Tomorrow maybe?
also plenty of BH, very crampy, but no pain. Sadly, I read about a women who didn't feel any pain during birth in one of the pregnancy mag, I have started fantasizing about it being the case for me too wishful thinking probably...

Mimile · 03/09/2009 21:46

and good luck BreakingNews!

naturelover · 04/09/2009 15:14

Does no one have anything to report yet?

Anyone else pinning their hopes on tonight's full moon? My doula seems to believe in it.

puffylovett · 04/09/2009 15:29

oh is the full moon tonight ? Here's hoping for a week early then

naturelover - I think it feels like fingernails are scraping down my bladder ! Horrid sensation

I was 4/5s engaged last week and I'm sure it's bobbing up and down. Basically I go from agonising pelvic pain to heartburn depending on what the little blighter is up to

AwayWithTheFaries · 04/09/2009 15:56

well my little toad is back to back and causing me pain! just like his big brother was ill be a week late tomorrow just like ds1 was so im hoping history is gonna repeat its self!!!
oh and i had a sweep yesterday morning and im softening up and 1cm so heres hoping!!

Mimile · 04/09/2009 18:23

nada, and induction is booked for Sunday I feel let down by the moon...

KateMess · 04/09/2009 21:44

Yes, what a big old lunar let down by the full moon!

I feel guilty about evicting my little one tomorrow but I am going slightly out of my mind.

We just had a quiet dinner and I've dispatched DP to the shops for extra supplies of strawberry cheesecake ice cream. It's his birthday today, it would have been nice to share it with the baby.

Mimile, will be thinking of you on Sunday (there's no guarantee I'll be done by then either!).

Awaywiththefairies have you tried the spinning babies website? They have lots of tips for turning the baby around.

audreyraines · 05/09/2009 01:43

stupid full moon.

stupid insomnia.

keep getting twinges, but nothing more than that.

sigh.

puffylovett · 05/09/2009 08:29

good luck for the weekend inductions... wishing you all the best

I'm keeping my legs crossed today, just realised I have no change mat or monitor . oops !

Mimile · 05/09/2009 10:39

Good luck for today KateMess! I've prepared my list of questions for this afternoon, since I have no clue what they will do (found the NICE guidelines on induction yesterday, and what I read wasn't quite like what I had been told...).
Will see how it all goes... scary!

naturelover · 05/09/2009 20:17

Well the full moon didn't do anything for me, but I've had various twinges today so maybe tonight's the night. I'm very very twitchy and restless, and my cat is acting weird... a sign of something?

Mixture of nerves and wishful thinking I think...

Good luck ladies, I'm sure we'll all have something to announce before too long.

AwayWithTheFaries · 06/09/2009 12:04

well im 8 days over now but iv had a show thismorning so maybe things will kick off very soon! im getting bored of waiting and all the texts of have you had him yet? im sure people think im gonna have him and not tell them!!
fingers crossed for you naturelover!!

blinder · 06/09/2009 12:42

ooh a show! well done awaywiththefairies.

I'm having braxtons like nobody's business. Sometimes regular - every 5 mins or so for hours at a time. But they never really develop into anything else.

Ho-hum.
