yawn Thank god for grandmothers. My mum took care of Adam for 3 hours today and I slept until I couldn't sleep any more. Bliss.

Of course I woke up to a cranky baby. It is cooler here than it is on the mainland (it hasn't rained yet) but the cool it was earlier has gone. And we think his tummy is upset. Sometimes he burps on command, other times not so much. Well, he is 2 weeks and 4 days old, after all. Oh, and the HV decided during a phone call that she didn't need to see him for another week. Thank god.

EO glad you're feeling like that. I do think sometimes you can tell if something is going to work okay. Much good luck vibes coming your way.

hedgepig sounds like you have the teething thing covered.

mrsb yay on new washer! Enjoy it!

herbaceous good luck to you! I have no helpful suggestions for brining on labour that haven't already been mentioned!!

Still no sign of erm on either thread...this could be it!

JJ come on over to NI! You'll have to put up with a very cranky baby, though.

bonzo glad you had a lovely weekend and grrr at JL. I hate it when stores do that sort of thing.

Well, Adam is safe in Daddy's arms, maybe I should go off and take a shower....

jeanjeannie · 29/06/2009 16:41

slinks in, hot and generally feeling PAH bonzo sorry about your JL trauma. We had a bit of those with JL with our freezer - they really didn't want to give us our money back until all our food had gone off and FIVE different, hapless engineers came to look at it. We really weren't happy with the after-care at all.

tee any day that you get a shower is a good day. I had one back in the latter part of last year....yes, I think it was then

dawntigga fans are all go here...one minute it's lovely the next it's freezing!

erm.....ERM* ......I think this is it ladies. OK - who had Monday down on the sweepstake???? Why are we not getting a blow-by-blow video-cam account???? Can't understand why she wouldn't want us lot there!!

BonzoDoodah · 29/06/2009 17:14

Am getting excited about ermintrude ... tee hee ... she may beat me yet.
And she has a date to beat now....

I had a sizing scan this morning and then saw the consultant straight afterwards to talk about the birth again.. SOB! I'm only 36weeks+2 and this baby is estimated at 8 1/2 pounds with a head diameter of 9.6 cm (yes we dilate to 10cm max) ... so with 4 weeks of growing to go they've said it is HIGHLY unlikely for me to get the VBAC / natural birth I wanted unless it comes very early. They've booked me in for a C-S on the 22nd July. I had a good cry whilst waiting to talk to the consultant (and two midwives and the student .... do you think they needed back-up?). So there's a reason why I feel HUGE this time and why I'm shattered and can I go and curl up until this is all over now? Reallly gutted - know it's for the best but it is still something to come to terms with.

mrsboogie · 29/06/2009 17:17

Yes, jj the very least she could do is pop on here every now and then and give us an idea of how much longer we will have to wait. The nerve of the woman to leave us in the dark all this time...

Mr D stood on his own for about 3 seconds today!! he was stood at my knee (where he has been most of the day) and wanted a plastic cup that was on the floor at his feet. So he let go of my knee, balanced for a couple of seconds, and started to bend down to pick up the cup!! I ruined it by screeching OH GOOD BOY at him making him wobble and collapse. But still!

washing machine not plumbed in yet as my new frugal lifestyle prevented me paying the extra £35 to have them do it. Will have to wait 'til OH gets home. Can't wait to get a decent wash done! Did a handwash of D's shortie body suits yesterday as he had nothing light to wear in the heat.

Tee2072 · 29/06/2009 17:26

bonzo that's exactly what happened to me, only he was measuring very big starting at 34 weeks. By 36 weeks he was waaaay above the line on the chart that marked normal. And I had a CS a week later, give or take a few days. Sorry you may not get the birth experience you were hoping for. {{hugs}}

iris66 · 29/06/2009 17:58

Bonzo Sorry you can't have the birth you wanted. Dashed expectation is a horrible thing The huge plus side (IMO) is that you know exactly when you're going to meet your LO now!! chill until then I say

ermintruuuuuuuuuuuuude - where aaaaaaare youuuuuuuuuuuuuu?????

Sorry - no time to catch up properly - will catch up with rest of news later currently dying from heat here

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 18:29

breeze breeze (says hedgepig excitedly jumping up and down) I just felt the air move, I must go and run around the garden with no clothes on (poor neighbours )......actually I think I will keep the clothes on.

Right must watch the tennis

heron22 · 29/06/2009 19:34

bonzo i am sorry you are majorly disappointed with your birthing option. i've had 2 sections, both big babies. i know how you feel. with my 2nd one, i was at one point hoping that i would be able to do vaginal delivery. but deep down, i knew that the baby was too big.

good thing about big babies is that their tums are bigger when they are newborn so they can go on 3hr feeding schedule

ermintrude13 · 29/06/2009 20:26

Heh heh, at long last here is the news:

Arthur Joseph born at 8.29 this morning, at home, 4.5 hr labour, no stitches and weighing in at 10lb precisely!

You see, all I needed was an induction date to get pushing .

Baby is gorgeous, DH and DC elated, me tired and happy. Will catch up properly tomorrow and post pics if he'll leave the tit long enough.

Hope someone's winning some lemon drizzle cake on me xxx

iris66 · 29/06/2009 20:31

OMG! just logged on as you posted!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! bloody well done ermintrude and 10lb!! no stitches!!!!!!!!!! - you must have done some kind of calm breathing him out there girl - fab!!!!

Welcome to the world to Arthur Joseph and may he have a happy, healthy, love filled life

yay!!

jeanjeannie · 29/06/2009 20:41

OOOoooo, I was a day out - who had Monday???

YAY!!!! CONGRATS and WELCOME Arthur.....FAB, FAB name!

Bloody hell - TEN pounds and you're not laying back on a chaise lounge with smelling salts...blimey erm I take my hat off to you - you're a pro!!!! That's lovely news - and I see you clearly perform well under pressure....an induction is enough to make any woman get on with it!

I'm cracking open the lemon drizzle as we speak - I shan't now post about how I've put on 5lbs in one week! Congratualtions and a huge cuddle to the lovely Arthur xxx

Iris there we go - erm has set the bench mark...so we're expecting at least 10lbs 2oz and 3 hrs start to finish

*skips off with lemon drizzle in mouth all pleased**

Tee2072 · 29/06/2009 20:48

I think I had Monday!!! Congrats erm!!

10lbs!!

iris66 · 29/06/2009 20:49

jj - bugger off!!! I'm hoping for less than 9lb thank you very much I'm only 5ft 2!!! (will try for the short labour though )

johnworf · 29/06/2009 20:59

I bloody well knew it! I had a feeling while I was out that the no show of ermintrude that something was going on Well done! And 10lbs without stitches...well....you must have a stretchy fanjo is all I can say Really pleased for you all and glad that you got the birth you wanted.

mrsb D is doing fab! He'll be walking soon I bet. How exciting

Too hot. K is upstairs with DH screeching so best go and rescue them both.

Laterz.

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 21:07

Ermintrude wow! CONGRATULATIONS

another awake baby here, so best go and try and get him to sleep

jeanjeannie · 29/06/2009 21:10

mrsB WOW - yes, I reckon D will be tearing along in no time. Unlike Verity who has decided she's now going to get around by some weird form of yogic flying...

iris OK - just go for the birth record - I'll let you off the weight!

I see the roof is over at WImbledon - good, hope this means some rain for us - it feels as thought the sky is going to fall in.

Neddie · 29/06/2009 21:22

Well done ermintrude takes hat off in admiration of home birth at 10lb .
Congratulations .

Tee2072 · 29/06/2009 21:23

Grrr. My good baby? Has not slept for more than 30 minutes all day long. And those 30 minutes? Have only been in someone's arms. Me thinks it could be a long night, even with DH on night shift tonight...

mrsb that's fab about Mr D! He'll be running before you know it!

mrsboogie · 29/06/2009 21:32

hurrah, congratulations ermintrude !! we knew it! well done you - you managed to avoid the dreaded induction and a ten pounder to boot, blimey! lovely name. We demand pics as soon as can possibly be managed!

right, so now Iris' turn for the nagging

I wouldn't mind if D didn't get his walking boots on for ages - I would prefer it if he would sleep!

tee dunno how warm it is there no but the heat is definitely having an affect on sleeping here

johnworf · 29/06/2009 22:04

Oh dear tee. The magic never lasts does it? These babies like to fool us into a false sense of security than BAM! it's gone in a trice.

Sorry.

K's been a miserable madam today. Flinging herself all over the place and unable to settle. I hope the fan helps her sleep although I had to drive her around the streets of Bury to settle her

Hope your babies fare better than us tonight

OP posts:
hedgepig · 29/06/2009 22:07

Tee the weird thing about babies is the more they sleep the more they sleep (if that makes any sense at all) so if they get a day with little sleep they sleep less. No answers I'm afraid but as MrsB says the heat does unsettle LOs.

O is finally asleep the sum totale f solid food tday 1/2 a yoghurt, 1/2 a fruit pot and finally tonught a bowl of porridge. He has had a reasonable amount of milk so he should be OK, heres to a better night.

I want to watch the end of the tennis, but it is too late, must get to bed night night sweet dreams to all the LOs

Ermintrude forgot to say good weight, O at almost 9 months has just got to 15lb so I think Arthur will take him over in the not too distance future

iris66 · 29/06/2009 22:16

Going to hit the sack too now (late one for me! - I've been finishing off the oilcloth chair covers I started ages ago - I'm really pleased with them now they're done)

mrsb - neither of my boys slept through until they walked (DS1-14mths, DS2-11mths)so here's hoping this is the start of sleep filled nights for you too!

Here's hoping for some rain tonight to clear the air a bit and let all the LOs sleep!

Night all

mrsboogie · 29/06/2009 22:22

D still up, no intention of going to bed barely slept all day in line with the general theory!.

johnworf · 29/06/2009 22:41

Glad it's not just me that's rattling around here.

DH glued to the tennis and keeps coming in office to drop me updates

hedgepig I get what you mean about sleep. K is a nightmare if she goes beyond a nap or misses one...she won't sleep then! Much crying and throwing herself around too.

Is D watching the tennis mrsb? He's very cosmopolitan your LO.

hedgepig I'm glad that O is like my K weight wise. She is 9 months corrected and is between 16.5 - 17lbs. She's on the 25th centile but kinda dropped downa bit at the last hospital check. They keep throwing me disapproving looks but what can I do? Force feed her? She's had loads of solids today but won't take the milk so we're opposite to O. She's had apple juice and water instead. She bats the bottle away and with the cup she wants to feed herself - which she can do - but then turns it upside down and starts rubbing the liquid everywhere

duchesse · 29/06/2009 22:42

Erm, hooray! How sensible of baby Arthur to come before being induced...
