I think K is too hot as well. She's wearing the short babygro's (legs and arms short). I still put her in the 0.5 tog grobag though as her feet get cold during the night. She grumbled right up until 9.30 tonight

I don't normally bathe her everynight but this week I have done. Needing vats of Oilatum to cope. Actually wrote it on the repeat prescription in case the GP thinks I have a market stall.

Is it this week that Iris goes to nursery? Very exciting if so. She'll come on in leaps and bounds once she gets in there

Just found nighties in M&S - think I'll stop by there tomorrow.

jw yep, she has her first induction day this Thurs - just for a couple of hours. I think she'll love it. We're still keeping her on at the nursery Friday morns - and then the pre-school go over and collect the LOs from the nursery crocodile-style as it's just across the way. How sweet

Verity has a streaming cold - I think we're going to postpone the MMR - can't see it clearing up enough - it's just come out today. Plus, if she's not 100% and in this heat...MMmmm, think it could be awful. Think I'll do it for next week.

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 06:46

morning, a crap night O was awake every 2 hrs , I think it's teeth (still none are through) and the heat.
floria you are indeed a saint, I hope DH brings you a nice pressie or 2 back for you.
Erm hope you are OK and the sweep worked.
MrsB enjoy your day off

iris66 · 29/06/2009 07:45

morning all -

hedgepig - ouch - especially in this heat - Have you tried Ashtons & Parsons teething granules in his water? (I think these are the ones that are homeopathic chamomilla - very calming for clingy, teething bouts & worked for mine - when they could be bothered to grab their cup!)

FloriaTosca - South African Sapphires are very nice (I don't think people die mining them there like they do diamonds)

jw - I think we're all in for a hard week with LOs overheating this week. I'd rather be pregnant than just delivered though - I seem to be more of a furnace when my milk comes in

jj - glad you had a good time - the organisers of these things never seem to think of coverage do they for sun or rain!! Hope Verity's cold clears soon.

Tee - well done on cooking the roast Did childbirth release your inner Delia?

johnworf · 29/06/2009 08:03

Good moaning ladies.

No signs of ermintrude so I'm wondering..............nah. That baby won't be born until at least November

mrsb are you sat by the window in excitement/anticipation of your new washing machine?

The heat is bad already here. Very stuffy. There's an article on DM website about how the hospitals are on high alert for anticipated illnesses sparked off by the forthcoming weather. I've had a look at getting another fan for DSS's bedroom which I think I'll go and pick up today before it the heat really gets going.

I have K's MMR on Wednesday which will be fun for her if she gets a temperature afterwards JJ prolly wise move postponing with a cold although I was told off for cancelling K's last one. The nurse said if it happened again I was to still take her and let them decide. I don't think so.

DH is covered in bites on his legs and going mad with the itch. Think it was all the ivy he cut down on Saturday. I did warn him but.....ah well.

Hoping your unpopped ladies are ok with the 'cankles'! I bet bonzo was really on fire last weekend.

tee hows A coping with the weather?

hedgepig oh you poor thing And poor O even more so. I always feel so helpless as there's not much you can do apart from get up with them and comfort them.

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 29/06/2009 08:35

Hot and bothered morning to you all.

hedgepig Ooooo, that's nasty - every two hours (((hugs))) Sounds like O's really struggling to cut those teeth - poor lad Seems that they either pop through effortlessly (like with Iris) or are a painful, protracted affair like poor O - and Verity. She's practically 13mths and only has 4 teeth; Iris had 8 by now.

erm do you think I'm on for winning with my prediction for tomorrow? Or - will it be today?? Gosh, I hope you've got a stack of fans!

mrsB OOooo, a washing machine....fab!

jw let them decide on what's right for your daughter - bloody cheek!

Oh lordy - girls are already lacklustre and moany Doesn't bode well for the next 10 hours of entertainment....

Tee2072 · 29/06/2009 08:40

Morning all.

Well, it would have been a awesome night with Adam sleeping from 11:30 to 4!! Only mummy woke up at 2:30 in a blind panic because she hadn't heard a peep from him. So he was asleep for another 1.5 hours and I was awake watching him breathe. Very good use of my time.

I think its not quite as hot here as it is on the mainland, so Adam is doing okay. He was very warm when he finally woke up at 4am, so I took him out of his Grobag and he slept the rest of the night in just a short sleeve, short leg BabyGro. He really seems to like the swaddling aspects of his Grobags, so I might just be putting him a grobag and nappy tonight.

I am totally nauseous watching Beyonce accept her award last night and saying it was for MJ. Gag me.

floria I am with everyone else. You're a saint for letting him go and have fun. Big fat gems are definitely in order!

JW at that nurse telling you to let them decide. Yeah, no. Your baby!! Did you mean to type 'good moAning' rather than 'good moRning?'

JJ sorry to hear about Verity's cold. I would agree that postponing the MMR is a good idea.

hedgepig Poor O, and you. Hope you can both get some rest soon. My MIL was telling me that neither my DH or my SIL had any trouble with teething. I looked at her like . I'm thinking she just doesn't remember. How can it not hurt?!?!

iris I released my inner Delia years ago! Just never cooked a roast before, I cook lots of other things!

Think A and I will have a quiet day today. My mum thinks we should walk up to Botanic Gardens this afternoon and have some air, but it looks like rain. And I think my HV is popping by again today. I swear I am beginning to feel watched!

dawntigga · 29/06/2009 09:04

Am off to buy a fan from Argos - it's to blinking hot!

dxx

johnworf · 29/06/2009 09:06

tee yay to A !! We've all done (are still doing) the breathing thing btw.

Good moaning is a joke from 'allo 'allo. Not sure if you've ever seen the show. It explains it on the link tho.

i do love this hot weather

tennis is back on today!

tee well done on A sleeping for so long! it is funny how us mums then wake up in panic!

jw good luck re: MMR on wed. hopefully K does not get a temp, in this weather it will be so miserable!

hedgepig so sorry about your sleepless night! have you tried calgel?

EstherOnions · 29/06/2009 10:15

Dear all, Well, by some miracle have come through the last week and weekend with my pregnancy intact (this is after 3xmiscarriages preceded by a stillbirth in August 2007. I?m 41). I?ve also experienced a tiny bit of morning sickness, which is a hopeful sign (with the miscarriages there was no morning sickness). But to be honest, I ?know? that this pregnancy is viable, just as I 'knew' that the others weren?t. Don?t ask me how, but you just know instinctively sometimes, don't you. So I do believe things will progress although am obviously not gonna start telling friends and family until after 12 weeks, just to be absolutely sure. What happens after that is anybody?s guess. My son, who died shortly after birth, had Trisomy 18, and clearly I will be offered tests and will be closely monitored for that and other conditions related to being an older mother. There are many bridges to cross but we will wait until we arrive at them to decide what?s the best way to get over them.
Have a lovely week, y?all.
EOxxx

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 11:02

Tee we are comming for a visit it is too hot here. O has conked out I have put him to sleep on his play mat as it is much cooler down stairs.

Esteronions how many weeks are you now? I think your attitude of crossing the bridges as the come is the best one, there is no point getting stressed until you need to. It's good to see you feeing wel and positive

Tee thinking about your HV, you can always ask for how ,long she is going to keep up these regular visits (in the nicest way of course ). After I had O the mw kept coming for much longer than the 10 days I was expecting. So I asked how long she would come for and she explained she would come until he was back to his birth weight (which took a long time since he was a hopeless feeder). So then you would know. It may be because Adam was in the Scooby Do that they want to keep and eye on him for a bit longer.

Any sign of Erm ????

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 11:04

Oh forgot, I have Ollie on teething gel, baby teething granule things and ibuprofen so hopefully that will cover all bases , thanks for all your suggestions. He wil ot eat anything only drink milk today, I was however wondering if an ice lolly would help .

mrsboogie · 29/06/2009 11:38

morning all

estheronions yes I know what you mean - its a good sign that you have that feeling. I hope things continue to go well for you and you keep on feeling a little bit sick for a while yet Are you having any scans?

The washing machine is here hurrah! T'was a tight squeeze getting it in and the old one out but its here!

tee I have a terrible suspicion that your LO will be sleeping through in a few weeks while D is still not doing it at early ten months!!No fair!

Sympathies on the teething hedgepig its a pain for everyone.

jw I am looking forward to getting the MMR over with - before he catches measles at nursery! don't blame jj fr postponing though, they say its not a problem with a cold but with this heat as well - too much!

D doesn't like the heat either altough it doesn't put him off his kip. Although he has refused to go down for a nap today, which is odd.

so...no erm yet today? I hope she doesn't have to endure another sweep.

/crosses legs in sympathy.

herbaceous · 29/06/2009 12:00

Hello again forty-plussers

I think I'm in the same boat as Ermintrude now... Was due yesterday, but absolutely no sign of action, unless slightly gippy batty and sudden bouts of needing to lie down ? despite urges to do weird things like dust the dado rails - are any sign. I suspect not. Bump still seems very high, and I haven't got that 'bowling ball in the gusset' feeling I hear about.

So, any handy hints you ladies have about ripening cervixes, or generally bringing things on, would be gratefully received. It's rather too hot for a curry, but I could probably handle pineapple or raspberry leaf tea... Not the sex though. What an effort...

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 12:00

I just checked the June thread she hasn't been on there since yesterday either MrsB,
Oooo how exciting we may have a new baby soon

hedgepig · 29/06/2009 12:16

Oooo how exciting Herb if you could manage it a nice long walk it may help, but it can be a bit tricky at 9 months pg and in this heat.

johnworf · 29/06/2009 12:30

Phew. I'm not even gonna mention the weather

K is throwing herself around in a fit of not knowing what to do with herself. It's driving her and us, dotty.

I managed to get the last 2 air con machines in our local Maplins so just put them in the children's rooms. Heat at night doesn't bother me as these days, I can sleep on a clothes line I'm that knackered.

On the upside, the washing is getting dry quickly...which leads me onto you mrsb and your shiny new machine Exciting when you get a new thingy isn't it? I bet you've already put a load on with urgency just to try it out........or maybe I think that everyone is as sad as me.

herb poor you in this weather. For ripening your cervix I suggest sex. The prostoglandins in the semen are supposed to do the trick

I'm getting excited thinking ermintrude might have finally popped! Come on Mr ermintrude, tell us all about it

We're at the eye hospital tomorrow for K's review. She's not been since Oct 08 so she's well overdue. She was only wee when we last visited and now she's not and can fight them off with their eye drops I'm putting my money on her.....

OP posts:
hedgepig · 29/06/2009 12:38

how exciting!!!!!!! O has worked something out .
He has just realised that using his backwards crawling he can use it to get things rather than just getting frustrated with going backwards rather than forwards. Right baton down the hatches ekkkkkk

herbaceous · 29/06/2009 12:46

JW I did suggest sex to DP, but he looked horrified. Been so long, he can't remember what to do, apparently... I saw you in the Observer yesterday too! Well, I didn't know it was you, but saw that the baby was called Katherine, and did wonder...

hedgepig I would do the whole walking thing, but have been suffering for months with SPD, which has got lots worse in the past couple of weeks. I managed to walk to Peacocks the other day for a cheap summer frock, a total of about 500 yards, and was done for by the end.

jeanjeannie · 29/06/2009 13:06

Afternoon all. Yes, - don't mention the weather! Especially for those in the cool over in N Ireland

herb Gosh, I hope it happens soon! I can understand not wanting sex....I'm not preggie and I couldn't be arsed! I think a nice curry - should get things moving....although possibly not the baby

hedgepig get that lead out - once he tastes freedom!

esther I agree that crossing each bridge as it comes is a fine idea. Yes, remind us how many weeks you are now? Morning sickness is a good sign - so fingers crossed and keep us posted.

heron I bet this feels like OZ eh?! Surf board in the centre of London may look a bit odd though!

jw wow - is it that long since the last eye appointment....that's flown by. Hope it all goes well.

mrsB yep, I reckon tee is going to get a sleeper...grrrrrr I do't know if it's depressing for you or a consolation to know Verity is still waking 3 nights out of 7

erm????? Is that you I can hear yelping???

BonzoDoodah · 29/06/2009 13:58

Hi all
back from a lovely weekend in Scotland - fortunately it was lovely and cool (read: raining) but we had a relaxing time. No cankles have appeared this time so feeling very lucky.
Had a nightmare on Thursday though - after me praising John Lewis on their Fridge replacement they seriously messed up.
Were supposed to deliver between 2 -9 and had mum on standby to cover for when we were not there. Plus they were supposed to phone half an hour before so either my mum or me could get there. I phoned at 2 and they said they were delivering 5:30-7 so I told hubby and he made sure he got home before 5:30. I also double checked by phoning at 4:50 to see when they were coming (as had had a missed call) and they said it was now 6-8:30. . Hubby arrived home at 5:20 to find they'd already called!!! Without phoning me before hand! Grrr - livid! He phoned the depot and they spoke to the drivers who said they'd make sure they called back - as we live 2 miles from their depot so they have to come near us anyway. Hubby explained we were driving to Scotland that night and they said they understood.
So we waited til 9:30!!!! And they didn't come!!!!!! At this point we had to plug back in the old fridge-freezer and unload all the cool-boxes of stuff into the fridge before setting off to scotland.
LIVID!
Didn't arrive at PIL's til 2:30 am!!!!!
And darling M was awake and ready to play at 7am. Happy Days! (sorry for the rant)

Oh and I bought the Independant on Sunday and scoured it for jw but no luck... I thought it was because it was the Scottish version. Typical as we normally get the Observer if we get anything! Mum and Dad have it so I'll pinch theirs tonight. Which section is it in??

dawntigga · 29/06/2009 14:35

The fan is fabulous and poor Sam had to be moved from it as he got to cold - yay!

dxx

johnworf · 29/06/2009 14:50

bonzo what an effing mare you've had with that fridge. However, it must just be a one off with dodgy van drivers as I've had no probs whatsoever in the past with deliveries from JL.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh rain! Oh, I wish

It's in the main part of the observer. Around page 13 methinks....

dawn excellent news on the fan front

I've just noticed that I should have put ice in the water compartment of the fan I've just bought. Think I can put the blocks that you freeze for cool boxes (bonzo will know all about those!) to make the air icy cool.

Madam still zzzzzzzzzz in bed. Think the temp has finally knocked her out.
