What did you wear for labour?

Silly question, really, but for those of you who have done this already, what, if anything, did you wear?

A long T-shirt, every time.

first time a huge old shirt I was happy to bin afterwards - second time round, nothing for most of the time as I kept feeling too hot and was so irritated I had to get dressed to go to the birth centre where I thankfully stripped of again to get in the pool. To be honest you wont really care too much what you wear for the labour as pretty much all dignity gets left at the door

A very unattractive maternity nightie from Mothercare - basically a long baggy t shirt.

Agree with dinkystinky, you couldn't care less what you're wearing once it happens.

A big T-shirt with buttons down the front both times, although ended up naked anyway so my forward planning for breastfeeding ease wasn't needed.

I was in my daytime clothes when I went into the hospital - I think they changed me into a nightie I had in my bag at some point (which was essentially a long t-shirt) then I ended up in a hospital gown. But with about 20 people in the room and my legs up in stirrups, I really didnt take much notice of what I had on

My dad's old XL tshirt, and an old shirt for afterwards to help breastfeeding.

Granted the tshirt didn't last long after overdoing the gas and air and was sick all over myself so ended up in hospital gown.

much to my horror - nothing at all.

I am the shyest person in the world and yet as soon as the births started I always could not bear having any clothing on at all. It felt just hideous just so hideous. So I had to take off my gorgeous nighty/t-shirt whatever. By baby three I had bowed to the inevitable.

Fucking nora. Still all these years on...

Long Tshirt of dh's first time, t-shirt I came in wearing second time (no time to change - I only just managed to get my keks off )

Nothing in the end, both times. Oh apart from my socks with DD1 which I thoroughly ticked my DH off for. I was so far along by the time I got to hospital, he had to undress me. Afterwards all I could say was " I can't believe you left my socks on! ".

DD2 was a HB. When I was naked, but struggling to get her out, the MW's suggested I tried to go to the loo. They asked if I wanted them to help me put some clothes on before I went - I told them, in no uncertain terms that I couldn't care less as I waddled off to the loo.

It did the trick and DD2 was born a few mins later. I am no godess, believe me, but It felt right for me .

1st time, cheap £3 nightie from Primark. The broderie anglaise neckline looks lovely in my first photos of the baby, shame the bottom end looked like it had been twice round the floor in a butchers' shop. Went straight in the bin. Next time I did it in the top I arrived in.

Nearly ended up wearing my pants to give birth to DD2. After clambering up on midwives table thingy mid end of labour contractions with a baby's head appearing between my legs, the midwife realised that I still had my knickers on so suggested that I "slip down and take them off''.

As felt unable to re perform superhuman effort of getting on the table, declined midwife's suggestion and told her to just cut them off. At first she didn't want to as she said "it was a shame to ruin them" then she couldn't find any scissors. Honestly what sort of midwife doesn't have some scissors handy?

Anyway she snipped them off and DD was born about 20 seconds later.

Think I had charming hospital gown on top half.

Apparently I was naked for DD1 but I can't actually remember.

A huge long nightie, which was whipped off after 30 mins so I could be naked and legs akimbo lol. There is no dignity in labour.

Cheap nightie from primark like jaype. Kept it on til baby came out and then whipped it off for baby to feed straightaway. I'm sure I got one with buttons for the job specifically, but I distinctly remember being in a rush to take it off before holding the baby.

one of those M&S top with a built in bra...
very comfy, not too hot and very good for breastfeeding.
I recommend it!
