Yes! I was 42.9() and my Ds was 8 when Dd was born. They are both fab!

mogwai · 15/06/2009 19:46

I'm 36 and about to have my second. I'm knackered all the time. I'd be horrified at the thought of having more in seven years time, but if it happened, I'd think it was just meant to be!

ilovesprouts · 15/06/2009 20:56

me and dh are trying for another one

TripleTroubleMuffin · 15/06/2009 21:02

Yes.

I should be so lucky.

expatinscotland · 15/06/2009 21:03

Yes.

That's why I'm so desperate for DH to get the snip.

Yes, I had my second when I was 42 and I am so grateful to have a healthy, lively DS.

It is a bit more tiring now I suppose, but I know what I'm doing and can enjoy him more because I'm not worrying about daft little things like minor ailments and whether he has enough clothes on.

Good luck.

ilovesprouts · 15/06/2009 21:59

Yes. My mum had my younger sister at 45 and she came out fine and healthy and is now travelling the world.

I think we've become so used to young parents, that suddenly, having a baby when we are more "mature" (I use "we" as am also 43) becomes a bit

I was almost 38 when dd was born and having been in the midwife's waiting room with girls young enough to be my grown up daughter, and being "oooooh, elderly prima gravida'd" at by the m/w, when I got back to Italy I expected the doc here to be the same...when I asked if I would need any special care (had been packed off to consultant in UK simply because was "old") he looked at me like I thought I was something special and said "why would you need special care?"

Waffle waffle, but what I'm trying to say is the same as everyone else I s'pose...if your age is the only thing stopping you, then I wouldn't worry- after all, you did it at 41!

Gateau · 16/06/2009 09:01

I'm not in that situation but yes, I would want to keep the baby.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.

I'm 43 and expecting my first in two weeks' time. I've had a totally straightforward pregnancy, apart from SPD which apparently has no connection to age. I've been less sick or tired than women half my age, and been treated totally low-risk and routine by all the medical staff.

Nuchal fold results were naturally a bit higher risk, due to my age, but all turned out to be fine.

In fact, I'm already wondering if I can squeeze another one out before the menopause!

Blu · 16/06/2009 12:03

Cruisemum, the reservations you have are reservations you would be having whatever age. I think if you have a 2 yo, and a plan to get back into work, then you would feel very 'det back' to discover an unplanned pg, but then you may find that once it has asserted itself as 'plan b' then you may be delighted.

But of course, it's completely up to you, what you decide to do.

You have had a lot on your plate recently so it's understandable that you would feel very daunted.

Ther's always childcare, you know! Expensive for 2, but once your 2 yo is in school...

chuffinell · 16/06/2009 12:09

im 43 in October and would LOVE another child..so much so that i have just had a fantasy pregnancy where i imagined all sorts of symptoms....i am sad!

seeker · 16/06/2009 12:09

I did! He's 8 now!

beanieb · 16/06/2009 12:11

yes

cruisemum1 · 16/06/2009 12:58

thank you all. If i find i am pg then i know where to come for support! I feel so selfish wanting my life back on track and I am swinging from one idea to another. I am soooo confused! I wll let you know results of test....... and then I will panic!

DH's mum got pregnant with his sister when she was 43 and she was born two days before she was 44.

SIL has just finished her A Levels and I often feel that FIL and MIL have more energy than us
