iris66 · 21/06/2009 12:51

jw surely your mean "cacaoooooo" lol

ermintrude - noooooooooo! - you mean this'll go on for weeks???? (you really know how to hurt a girl)

heron - colds often leave you a bit dehydrated - could that be the problem?

DH enjoyed his lunch and has ordered me to bed (bless) so I'm off to see if I can catch up on some zeds whilst he watches F1.

mrsboogie · 21/06/2009 12:58

enjoy the zeds iris

jw finally, after nearly two weeks he reverted to happy chappy on Friday he was so miserable before he was like a different child, wouldn't smile even, just looked mournful 24/7. Poor lump.

Think I have caught up now but didn't see anything about Iris falling down stairs. eeeek. poor jj

johnworf · 21/06/2009 14:13

It's 2 pages back (or maybe 1) mrsb about iris and the stairs.

Glad to hear the little man is back and firing on all cylinders

iris pack all that sleep in while you can. Won't be long now til you join us lot in Night of The Living Dead

We're nowhere near lunch yet. It's always a late one on Sunday. DD#1 has just rung to tell me that The Yank doesn't know what trifle is but I could have predicted that. It's not his fault. They just don't have it over the pond. Like we don't eat grits I suppose.

We also have formula one on here iris I'm only tolerating without comment today as it's Father's Day. He's still looking for a good place to put the dartboard without spearing children, adults or dogs.

mrsb did you and D make a card for daddy?

johnworf · 21/06/2009 14:15

Saturday (y'day) 12.27pm post.

mrsboogie · 21/06/2009 14:41

we did do a card- well we didn't make it - it was one of those ones you get off the tinterwebs with your own photo (of D natch) as the nursery had already done the making one and he was given it on Weds and told not to open it til Sunday. We also bought daddy a ped egg (which he has always wanted) and presented the lot to him on bed this morning.

I said I would do Father's Day to make him feel bad because he did nowt on Mother's Day - on account of me not being his mother I have held that grudge ever since and kept it warm with many digs in the interim

We don't do lunch in this establishment- it'll be Sunday dinner in front of Top Gear later.

johnworf · 21/06/2009 20:18

When I say lunch mrsb it was served at 5ish. Went down a storm

I forgot your OH didn't do anything for Mother's Day. That's bad. I hope you've sufficiently shamed him today.

Seems Ped Eggs are very popular at the mo on this thread!

ermintrude anything yet?

Wonder how tee is getting on?

heron22 · 21/06/2009 21:00

are these ped eggs any good? my heels are in dire need of some tlc!

jeanjeannie · 21/06/2009 21:11

Evening all. Am sooooo tired...and a bit sunburnt Day was nice although Iris was very shouty and tired....she had a nap but not long enough.

jw sounds like you can tick off yet another successful Sunday roast...ah, the Yank will have such memories. Did he partake of the triffle?

Iris was fine after her awful tumble down the stairs - thanks all for asking. We've got really steep stairs and no carpet...bless her. She kept saying "what happened? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear" Awwwww

Sounds like we all had a nice low key Father's Day and didn't go wild spoiling our other halves DP made me a gorgeous dinner - I know, that's all the wrong way round. Mind you I did make him a lovely card...I got a pic of Sportacus and put a pic of his head on it and drew in a moustache!

mrsB good to hear D is back on form. I love the pics on FB - he looks SO happy.

Poor erm and Iris ...it's like watching paint dry - come on ladies Actually you have my sympathies - I'm not good being preggie let alone the final furlong and in the warm weather.

tee how's it going?

jeanjeannie · 21/06/2009 21:13

heron I love mine - I've got TWO! It really is a Pedd Egg fest on here Perhaps they should give us some as we're so good at that word of mouth marketing or what-ever it's called!

johnworf · 21/06/2009 21:21

JJ sounds like you've been spoilt today too

Yes mrsb the pics of young Mr D are superb. He's very photogenic.

He did partake of the trifle (even though my cream went a bit weird and flat - although he wouldn't know as he's never had it) even though the first spoonful went onto the table! DD#1 duly took a photo and uploaded it to facebook immediately

Yeah come on you two. Do we have to get the dynamite out?

Tee2072 · 21/06/2009 21:49

evening!

typing one handed, so 'scuse the lack of caps!

we had a very busy day with the PIL here for lunch along with my mum and step dad.

adam has been asleep most of the day, so expecting a busy night! I even got a two hour nap this afternoon!!

erm...

jj glad iris is okay

jw did you give the yank a hard time about living in scranton?

heron i also love my ped egg. gonna haul it out tomorrow in fact

iris hope you are feeling okay

johnworf · 21/06/2009 22:05

Hi tee. Glad it's all going well. Sounds like you've had a house full today OOOH you'll have to get your little lad switched around; his days sound like the nightime and vice versa! We had that problem at first with K but once you switch it around it's sorted.

Didn't give the Yank a hard time about anything. I did give him some nice British hospitality though

Hope you have your feet up and your mum and DH are doing everything for you

ermintrude13 · 21/06/2009 22:15

Yaaawn, I'm soooo tired, not helped by having thrown up gruesomely for the past 4 nights - not sure what I'm keeping down and it's making me a bit weak and feeble, which doesn't help, and it's been such violent retching that what are left of my stomach muscles are in agony, which doesn't help either . I daren't even have a cup of tea with sugar in as a pick-me-up in case it makes me hurl again.

Sounds like all daddies were well-treated, hope they reciprocate on our special day next year, especially Mrsb's OH.

Must waddle to bed, night all.

Tee2072 · 21/06/2009 22:22

JW how did you get her to switch? Just keep waking her during the day?

mrsboogie · 21/06/2009 22:32

D was the same tee in fact he hasn't totally given up on the idea of going nocturnal - he's doing it by stealth at the moment. There's not actually much you can do except try to encourage them not to sleep too long in the day - tempting though it is.

D is over 9 months now and still has two or three night feeds

\sigh

ermintrude

/taps watch

BonzoDoodah · 21/06/2009 23:15

Tee oh lovely news that the boy is home - how super is that. Good luck getting the BF going.

jj PMSL at the suncream incident (only coz it's you and not me) ... and anyway ... what's this about being a bit sunburned??
SUNBURNED??? We went all the way to bloody Anglesey and endured a weekend of pigging rain - only to phone home and find out it's been glorious sunshine here (not absolutely ruddy livid at all nonononono).
Plus shattered -M slept in the car on the way from 8-10 then woke up just before we arrived there. Then she would NOT go to sleep. Screamed and cried every time we put her in her travel cot. Tried leaving her (til she was nearly sick), cuddling her, letting her run round, everything (my tired, hormonal pregnant divine-ness was ready to feed her to the wolves by this point). We didn't get her to sleep til gone 12:30 ... and then she was up a 7!!! So much for a relaxing weekend. Grrrrr.

heron hopefully things will pick up once your cold goes - your body may just be protesting at being run down.

ermintrude where's that baby? I've been off here for 2 days now! That's time enough!

OP posts:
iris66 · 22/06/2009 05:54

morning all Early start again here - I turned over at around 3am and somehow twisted something in my groin which was so excruciating that I yelled and woke DH (DH "you ok?", me "owwwwwwwwww!dunno yet sniff*", him "ZZZZZZZ" ) Needless to say I couldn't get back off again so plan to enjoy another little siesta this afternoon

ermintrude - hope you had a better night - I reckon there's nothing worse than being violently sick when heavily pg - it bloody hurts doesn't it and I only had one night of it! for you. With any luck (and a following wind).....

DD comes home today! she should be home around 9pm but is staying until 28th which will be just soooooo lovely (I really miss her company - DH doesn't do idle chat at all) I'm so excited I may even waddle down the road and get some flowers for her room.

I've just noticed how many posts this thread has had - someone witty (clearly not me )needs to think of an amusing title for the next one soon!

hedgepig - still absent I see hope you're ok (cycle training injuries aside!)

have to go - overwhelming desire for food... back later no doubt

johnworf · 22/06/2009 08:04

Morning ladies Especially to you early risers! Wow iris you've had a really early start How's your groin? Sounds really painful. Praps you've twisted a muscle/ligament. At your stage the baby is probably stretching everything in those areas.

tee we tried to keep K awake during the day. Easier said than done. If there was a lot going on in the house with people/noise/talking etc then she wouldn't settle and I wouldn't try and settle her. It took us around a week to get her to sleep when it was dark. Easier for us then as it was winter and darker evenings. These long evenings don't help and y'day was the longest day too I'm sure you'll get there with him though.

Cor, I was really tired last night from having everyone over. I'm getting far too old to entertain (excellent excuse).

bonzo that waking scenario is one I always dread when we go anywhere out of the norm (hardly ever thankfully). It puts me off tbh as it turns into bloody hard work. Was M just excited because it was a semi holiday or it was all new or there were other people there??

ermintrude why are you throwing up still? Doesn't your body know that you're past the 3 month mark? Methinks not as it's not letting this baby out!

DD#1 had mother/daughter chat with me y'day in the kitchen while I was making dinner. There's nothing going on with the Yank and herself..although I think that is on her part and not his as he seems very interested. I gave her a little sermon about how it's a big world out there and there's not much around these parts etc etc. As she so rightly pointed out, you can't make yourself like someone in that way. It's a shame because if I'd get to pick someone for her, it would have been him Ah well.............

Off to the snowboarding again today and see if they'll let the buggers in this time! Tomorrow we're off to leafy Cheshire to go and see the little church in the village where Lewis Carroll was born. The Yank wants to sketch it before he leaves on Wednesday.

JJ are you alive?????? Sunburn??? Only way I'd get burnt is from rain or wind. Did DH win anything???

Tee2072 · 22/06/2009 09:55

Morning all!

I was up when iris was but I had babe in arms and couldn't type!

We actually had a fairly decent night, with him going down around 1am and sleeping until about 4 and then back down around 6. Daddy took over at 7 and I just woke up at 9. He's had his first home bath (only baby I've ever met who hates being naked!!) and now he's having a bit of a nap before his first Home Health Visit around 11.

I never thought I'd say this, but it really is a godsend my mum being here with us. She is willing to do anything to help. And she waits for me to ask her to do so! I think we've both finally grown up. And it only took 40 years!!

erm sorry to hear your having such a rough time. It sounds pretty dire. Can't be much longer, I'm sure.

iris I was getting those same groin pulls all through my last 4 or 5 months. They are agony! I asked my MW about them, there is nothing to do for them.

JW DD may yet change her mind! DH and I were friends for about a year before we became a couple, although we didn't actually meet in person until after coupledom occurred. Friends make the best lovers, after all!

bonzo sorry to hear about your not so relaxing relaxing weekend. Hope you got some sleep last night.

JJ hope suncreamgate 2009 is being straightened out. Its (giggle) not (giggle) funny!! DAMMIT!!

Where's hedgepig? And what happened to mum41???

johnworf · 22/06/2009 10:10

tee glad that your mum is being a help to you. Lord only knows you need it in those first weeks especially after a CS too Make the most of her!

DD#1 and The Yank have been chatting for over 3 years online and this is there first meet in RL. I know she thought that just before she met him there might be something more but now it seems to have fizzled away. I had to have a word with her y'day after she told me that on a night out on Friday she told him off for trying to be centre of attention and talking about himself all of the time. I told her to have more patience and that as a guest, she must be more accommodating. I also think there's a slight cultural difference. Personally, I think he's charming but she thinks he's loud and invades her personal space. Mebbe it's because I've had an american b/f myself that I understand these minute differences...but I think she doesn't like them much

Fab news that A is sleeping well. Got quite a routing going there already! whoooo!

ermintrude13 · 22/06/2009 10:29

Ah JW, it's so nice that your DD talks to you about these things. It's a shame that her passions haven't been stirred, but better that she follows her heart rather than just lapses into a relationship because it's sort of expected. She's still young and gorgeous and there are plenty more fish in the sea etc etc.

Iris those lower ligaments take a hammering; turning over in bed is quite a palaver at the moment. Your DH's response to your squeals of pain sounds just like mine...

Tee the early sleeping patterns are just all over the place. I liked b/f because I could just have bubba in bed and feed without waking properly, like a complete slob . Although that did make getting them into their own room a bit tricky later on... But even then they'd be bright-eyed and wanting to play in the wee small hours. God, I'm going to have suitcases under my eyes - ever since DS stopped waking at 5.10 every morning, aged 3, I've slept really well and he'll be 7 in September. Gulp.

Don't worry about him not liking the bath - when they're so tiny they often don't like being naked; that happens when they're more relaxed about being in the world. We used to bath them with one of us at first so they felt more relaxed and less exposed (and it's lovely holding a little baby in the bath ). It was usually me - then I'd hand babe over to DH to deal with, top up the hot water and put in the bubbles.

johnworf · 22/06/2009 10:37

Yes, K loves her baths now but howled like a banshee when she was little. I think it's the openness they don't like. Too much exposure. Hence why A likes to be swaddled.

I know she's right following her heart. It's just the last 3 serious b/f's she had (and lived with) were dead beats. No personality, bad all round. 1st one is now gay, the second bordering alcoholic and the third (the one that she's just got rid of), doesn't work and instead deals in illicit substances. I just get the feeling that there's a pattern emerging

Tee2072 · 22/06/2009 11:03

He actually likes the bath part. He just hates coming out into the cold. He's fine once he gets a towel wrapped around him. And he hates having his nappy changed. The howls would wake the dead!!! (and did wake mummy this morning when Daddy was changing him!!)

ermintrude13 · 22/06/2009 11:17

JW and mrsjupiter and anyone else interested in prem babies, Woman's Hour has got a feature on it right now. It'll be on Listen Again for a week - it's all about the tests they do now to assess the likelihood of preterm birth and how they can prevent it.

ermintrude13 · 22/06/2009 11:30

I'm wrong, it's a special prog called 'Born Too Soon'.
