tee knew it wouldn't be long. So get your boobs out and feed the lad. He's starving K looked weird in clothes when I dressed her for the first time. A nice weird though

Took DD#1 and her american friend out to Holcombe Hill today....floria will know where I mean as it's her neck of the woods K screamed her head off when her sister and brother got in the car. She won't even look at them now. Anyone other than myself, DH or DSS is a no no and is met with howls. She wouldn't stop until they all got out of the car. What can I do? Carry only madam in the car or give people lifts and leave her at home?

Btw floria hope you're feeling better. Not seen you around so really hoping that it's not got to A

mrsb hows D been today? Any improvement? Are all the teeth through now?

bonzo pleased to hear that your mum is doing so well.

iris so it's your turn for the lurgy? It's bad enough being pregnant let alone pregnant and ill. Get well thoughts sent your way

I'm making cards tonight if everyone will give me an hour on my own. Which they won't.

jeanjeannie · 18/06/2009 19:19

Evening all.

iris sorry to hear you've been so poorly Before I forget - I had a REALLY weird dream...and YOU featured in it I know, I know...it gets odder. I dreamed that I had to replace Ken Bruce on Radio 2...and apparently the person who was to be my 'sidekick' was you! I woke up all of a fluster because you'd got there and I'd missed my train and time was running out...and I didn't know what you looked like...Oh, I was all confused at 5.45am this morning Thing is - I don't really listen to Ken Bruce. I think it t'was your brush with fame that's done it.

jw I'm sending you card vibes. Have you visited the Arts and Crafts thread on MN for inspiration? What cards are you making....any occasion?

I may attack the kitchen tonight with the steam cleaner and the swarfega - feels so grubby I'm surprised that the council haven't come round and sealed it off with tape.

heron22 · 18/06/2009 19:27

hi all, i broke my medela swing pump! actually it is not mine, it is on loan from a friend . i am such a klutz! dropped it and now it will not release. it pumps but no release so my nipple just keeps getting sucked in. not sure if my explanation is right. i really hope that it can be repaired! or i am up for 80 quid! DH says he can fix it, he will open it up he says. not sure if i should let him do it!

anyone know what i can do?

so now on the last night of our hols, i am sitting here, hand expressing

tee great to hear Adam is doing well and will be home soon!

johnworf · 18/06/2009 19:54

heron sorry dear. I can offer no help on fixing breast pumps. Hopefully your DH can sort it - men are usually good at that sort of thing

JJ not visited the A&C area of MN but shall do when I get a minute. I've made a b'day card for SiL's foster child whose b'day it is tomorrow...she's 11. I'm still halfway through DH's Father's Day card.

DSS is really confused as to why my name isn't on the FDC. I had to explain it's because DH is not my father. So he wanted to know when it was 'wives day'. I said that would be on our anniversary when it's then husband and wife day - but just for me and his dad. He pondered over this and I think he took some of it. You can never tell though

Pouring with rain here. Think the heating might go on tonight.

Did anyone read about the baby who was almost snatched from under it's mums nose in hospital? Blimey.

The ginger one from Girls Aloud looks bloody awful. If thin is fashionable, then I'll stay semi fat thanks.

tee any news on a coming out date for Adam?

iris66 · 18/06/2009 21:00

jj - I'm touched that you were subconsciously thinking of me and pleased that anyone was going to replace Ken Bruce - I can't abide that man's voice!

jw - I had a similar conversation with DH when we first had DS1 - he couldn't see why he had to buy me a card from DS1 (I think he thought I should wait until DS could cycle to the shop & pay for it himself!!!) I think DH & your DSS may be from similar stables, so to speak

heron - bad luck with the pump & hope DH can fix it (sing the Bob the Builder theme to him - it may inspire )

ermintrude - hope your lot enjoyed their meatballs but I've clearly led a very sheltered life - what's Pad Thai?

DH cooked a huge fry up tonight (and I managed to resist the thickly buttered bread too - a first!)which was just lovely, but I'm starting to consider everything I eat with regard to how it'll come up again hey ho.

Off to be creative myself now (something in the air tonight?)as I bought some Cath Kidston oilcloth which arrived yesterday(multicoloured stars) to make covers for our kitchen chairs (cream linen but currently with very tasteful black bin liners sellotaped over them to childproof )so I need to get cracking and make a template tonight so I can do all the cutting and sewing over the weekend. Kirsty Allsop eat your heart out!

jeanjeannie · 18/06/2009 21:19

heron whooooops! My dp trod on the handle of mine and snapped it - so I got another off ebay - sorry, that's not much help I know.

iris I get confused by Terry and Ken....I know one's from Ireland and the other from Scotland but they sound the blinkin same to me!
This is Pad Thai Yum yum...MMmmmmmm...nice

COr yes, you have come over all Kirsty Allsop haven't you...ah, of course...it's your nesting urge it's coming out Cath Kidston flavour!

jw my DP will get a handmade card courtesy of something like CBeebies magazine....!! Well, you gotta make it look as though a LO did it! Actually I've got a great hand painting Iris did the other day - I'll slice that up too.

The ginger in Girls Aloud just looks odd and miserable. I bet she'd have the same scowly old mush if she was fat too.

Went scouring in the estate agents today in Marlow...you know...window shopping and I totaly fell in love with THIS! It's weird as i rarely have a 'pull' on a property but I saw it in the window and considered buying a lottery ticket. Odd thing is - I showed it DP and it's 2 doors down from a lovely client of his and it's the same house he was telling me about almost a year ago and how he thought it was gorgeous. See - it's fate runs off to Costcutters to get a Lotto ticket

johnworf · 18/06/2009 21:35

JJ I'm starting on another card for DH as the original one was just 'orrible once the glue had set. I'm planning an acetate window on this one to a nice shot of the two LO's together. But, took the pic tonight and it's crap so will have to get them tomorrow. Best get my skates on. Need to pick up his darts tomorrow to go with his board. I can see all the kids lining up on the ockie on Sunday...praps a small tournament forming........all out war when quibbling over some small, obscure darts rule.....someone getting a dart in their head....think I'll just get the boggle out instead.

That house looks fab. £925k though? Not even close to my league. I might scrape together enough for the garage on its own.

Those £25 million winners aren't that far from me geographically. Financially; a million miles away (25 million to be precise). Gah.

iris your oilcloth sounds lovely. I'm a huge fan of oilcloth. I've currently got 2 tablecloths and some bibs made of the stuff. It's like living through the war in our house.

jeanjeannie · 18/06/2009 21:54

Hahahahahah jw it's A MILLION, SQUILLION, TRILLION...GOOGLE away from what I could ever hope to afford It just looks like a very loved, days-gone-by kinda place that i could imagine being in

Are you putting DH's picture onto the dart board..?

Tee2072 · 18/06/2009 22:00

Evening all!

Well, Adam breastfed, eventually, for about 10 - 15 minutes, so that's good! Apparently he hated the lovely lacey Hot Milk bra I was wearing, as he whined until I got frustrated with it being in the way and whipped it off (we were in a rooming in room!) and then he settled right down to it!

JW no word yet on coming home day. Tomorrow is 24 hours of sucking/feeding tube with just sucking starting tonight. He needs to be sucking for 48 hours. I am hoping I can room in on Saturday and bring him home Sunday, but it might be Monday.

iris sorry you had the lurgy. I hope you feel better now.

JJ now that's an odd dream...

heron sorry to hear about the pump! Hope DH can fix it.

ermintrude13 · 18/06/2009 22:04

We've finished watching season 1 of The Wire. DH says I'll have to have the baby now cos otherwise we'll have nothing to do of an evening...

What's all this Ken Bruce/Terry Wogan stuff? JJ, are you a R2 listener? And fancy trying to drag poor Iris into your sick fantasies . That house looks large - think of the heating and be glad it's out of your league .

JW and iris I'm v impressed with your home made cards/chair covers. Being fairly cack-handed myself, I tell people that DD has wrapped their presents when in fact I've tried my very best to do it neatly .

Heron good luck with the hand expressing; I was never very good at that. There's a woman on the June thread who had her baby earlier this month and has got more than 20 x 4oz bags of milk which just dripped out of one side whilst she was feeding on the other . Apparently she was the same with DC1 for the first few weeks and then it settles down, but pretty impressive!

Tee2072 · 18/06/2009 22:06

erm who is that? The wonder expresser, I mean...I must have missed it on the thread!

mrsboogie · 18/06/2009 22:14

If its nice houses yer yer after ladies here'sone

good news tee on the bfing!! not long now.

haven't been on here tonight as have been getting through a big pile of ironing. I recently took up ironing to keep my mind off eating...

/looks askance at self

johnworf · 18/06/2009 22:16

tee excellent news that Adam is getting the hang of the feeding lark. Hopefully it'll be Saturday rather than sunday that you room in. Crap you have to go back into hospital but at least it's for a reason. Btw I didn't sleep a wink when I roomed in. I was far too excited about the prospect of finally getting K home. I just lay there looking at her all night Fast forward a week and I was still wide awake looking at her thinking 'go to sleep little baby, please'.

Shame on you ermintrude blaming your poor DD on your ham fisted attempts. Shocking Anyway, that baby should have been born yesterday. Can you have a word please?

I have R2 on in the car and sometime in the kitchen for Tezza. I like the sound of Ken Bruce but he looks like a squirrel. It's always the way isn't it?

johnworf · 18/06/2009 22:18

mrsb that's hard core...the ironing part I mean.

Heyyyyyyyyyy that link to the house is MY house! I wish. If only I had some money......

goes off to look down the back of the sofa for pennies and a new house

Tee2072 · 19/06/2009 08:42

Good morning all!

JW Check old handbags as well. I always seem to find a tenner when I do that.

erm...baby? ::flees:: (I am thinking I will lose all the pregnancy weight fleeing from erm's wrath)

Adam took bottles all night long. No more feeding tube!! My mother and I were just discussing that he looks different from just a week ago. I think he may have lost up to a pound, but they haven't weighed him recently.

I have very high hopes that he will be home on Sunday. Just in time for Father's Day!!

johnworf · 19/06/2009 08:50

te that's fantastic news. Just saw the new pics on Flickr. Oh I noticed that they put a cannula in his head. That was something I put my foot firmly down about. I told them anywhere but never on her head. You're a brave woman, or maybe I'm just a shouty, picky one.

Anyway, that'd be the most perfect father's day present for your DH wouldn't it? I'm sure now he's feeding it's just a matter of hours, not days

johnworf · 19/06/2009 08:51

Btw, I think he's def got a look of your DH.

Tee2072 · 19/06/2009 09:21

JW by the time I knew about the cannula in his head? It was in! They mentioned it briefly in passing, saying it might need to be done, but never said anything else about it until it was in! It didn't hurt him. And now he has a punk haircut!!

ermintrude13 · 19/06/2009 09:37

Tee I think it was LittleSarah who was the wonder dairy. . Can't bear to think about canulas in baby's head. I know that with my neice her veins kept collapsing after a day or two so they were putting lines in all over the place [shudder].

mrsb that house looks beeyootiful, but do what I do whenever I start lusting after gorgeous properties - and tell yourself 'Well, it's very nice but it's a bit near the road'. Drives DH mad when he points out glorious converted barns and warehouses on holiday and that's invariably my response .

JW R2 is the new R1 isn't it? I can't bear to listen to R1 now, all that R&B stuff, yuk. lol @ Ken Bruce's squirrel-like features. I was devastated when I saw Eddie Mair - talk about a face for radio.

Right, off to listen to Jarvis's new midlife crisis album. Although I always thought that French woman he married couldn't possibly be good enough for him, I'd hoped they'd stay together for the children. (look, most of my teenage years were spent ni 1980s Sheffield; I've always loved Jarvis and I can't help it.)

l8rs.

BonzoDoodah · 19/06/2009 11:13

Tee brilliant news about Adam feeding ... hope he's home soon. It will be lovely!

Iris I hope you're feeling better soon.

jj - lovely house - but you know .... all those bricks ... and windows ... too much

Just had a very pleasant phone call with the complaints dept of John Lewis. Our Fridge Freezer has developed an interesting problem - the light wasn't going out and I found the cheese actually melted inside the fridge!! Well despite it being 2 1/2 years old (and only a 2 year guarantee) - the man on the phone was lovely and has automatically offered me a complete replacement of today's model of the same FF. Wonderful company! I see a trip to JL at lunchtime to find my new fridge. The excitement!!!!

Oh and adding a new bump pic.
(Mum home safe - phew! - thanks for all the good wishes)

morning all - day off today hurrah

got to do loads of housework - boo

have sis and her bf coming tomorrow so must catch up on a week's worth of housework.

tee fab news!! can't wait to hear he is home - hope you get a definite today

my big news is that D slept in his normal cot last night after his 1am bottle until 7am! Will have to stick at it now as it is a pain in the arse getting him out of the Amby now. and he now waves by bye whenever you take him up to bed

ermintrude how are you this fine morning?

/see, didn't mention nuffink 'bout labour

off to catch up ...

Tee2072 · 19/06/2009 11:24

Well, my calm son was obviously only calm because he was ill. Apparently he was a fuss head for his 10am feed. So glad to hear it!!

I'm off to the hospital in a bit. I am hoping to hear 'go pack a bag, stay with him tonight and bring him home tomorrow' but we'll see!

mrsboogie · 19/06/2009 11:26

yeah that's good tee he's a hungry boy!

BonzoDoodah · 19/06/2009 11:56

Hey Tee - they're all quiet for the first few days - to lull you into a sense of false well-being ... lets you bond to them before they show you their lungs ... think it makes you lesss likely to leave them out on a hillside. Sounds like he's waking up and wanting his mummy.

Talking of Mummys ... has ermintrude had her baby yet?????

mrsjupiter · 19/06/2009 12:28

Hello all. Sorry for my absence yesterday but we had an exciting event. The doctor who is essentially responsible for the fact that Eva made it came to meet her and have dinner with us.

I won't go into the details of that very long night now but basically she used to be my GP at the International SOS Clinic here and she was with us through the whole nightmare in China and in Hong Kong, and her decisions at considerable professional risk to herself ensured that Eva survived.

She went home to Australia while Eva was in hospital but she's been back in China for a visit so came to see us. It was really exciting.

There's a bonus too, I always really liked her - she's my age and is from a middle eastern background which I am too, and we have a lot of the same interests. Obviously when she was my GP we couldn't really pursue a friendship but now we're going to stay in touch so I'm really happy about that too.

So anyway, I spent all day cooking - I wanted to make a real effort as you can imagine so I made her middle eastern food, followed by a peach, apricot and almond crumble to work in the British bit. Eva didn't didn't make it easy though. For the first time ever she didn't eat breakfast or lunch and resisted napping until 2 pm by which time she's normally had two naps. Fortunately she recovered her good humour in time for my friend's arrival. Phew.

Thanks all for the support on the knitting front - it made me feel much better.

Bonzo I literally LOVE John Lewis.

Tee will keep my fingers crossed for you. How great would it be to have Adam home for Father's Day.

Iris that really is a nightmare lurgy. I can't imagine what it's been like.

JJ what a bunch of old cows at that playgroup. What's wrong with these people! Not that I'm a great expert but I thought it was unusual to find a toddler who would sit so still. Oh, and your mention of Pad Thai has caused me to order it for dinner. Should be delivered pretty soon, so thanks.

erm where's, you know....?

jw I keep forgetting to ask. I got kicked off MN before going to the UK without finding out what that lump in your neck was? I'm guessing it was nothing serious given that you've not mentioned it since but it would be good to have confirmation.

How is it possible that Ken Bruce and Jonathan Ross are on the same radio station? Doesn't make sense unless the common thread is that they are both really really annoying.

This is very long so I'm posting now.
