Will echo ermintrude on the leading to divorce with an unerected tent! I remember aruging the first time we put it up in MiL's garden After that you get into a rhythm where you know which job is yours and which is his

I've never pinged back with any of mine. Instead I've remained looking pregnant for several months (some would argue, years). I think that my skin lacks elasticity which is why I have a lot of stretch marks, I've torn on 3/4 of my children but I don't have many lines or wrinkles on my face. Swings and roundabouts eh?

johnworf · 09/06/2009 11:26

I have never camped in Dorset but I have a friend who lives in Poundbury. What an odd place it is (thanks to Prince Charles?). The coast down there though is stunning.

maltesers · 09/06/2009 11:38

Good luck you older mums who are about to have your babies. I am 50 (dont look a day over 40) and i have 3 kids, 21 ds, 18 dd and 8 yr old ds. HELLO everyone in the older category !!

jeanjeannie · 09/06/2009 12:03

Old is the new young Maltesers

jw rather no lines on my face everytime. That's what people see - unless you wander around the town like one of those bad dreams where you realise you've got your sweater on but no pants and undies

Mmmm, we'll be watching the CD tonight...but to be honest I can't see where or how we're going to get chance to put it up before going Oh well, MIL will be there when we arrive - she'll probably be able to do it with one hand while putting the kettle on with the other!

iris I rather thought you may be one of those women who snaps back into shape...MMMMmm, you've got that look about you; slinky but with a bump!

Jo jingles went really well - we were with the nice lady today who totally understands Iris's need to get up and wander and talk to random strangers!!

iris66 · 09/06/2009 12:53

Hi maltesers - I'm 42 with a DD 20, (DSSs 16 & 15 don't live with us)DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 19mths. I'm due to have DD2 somewhere around 6th July (or mid June if I have my way ) Did I see on the other thread that you're just about to move? Where to?

jj - sorry pg just makes me a size smaller each time. Before the boys I was a more normal 14/16 top and 12/14 bottoms. No arse makes it very uncomfortable to sit down BTW!!

glad that Iris had a better time at music but TBH I'd be shocked if anyone had an issue with children getting up and wandering!!

johnworf · 09/06/2009 14:38

iris you have probably told us all this before but I'm sorry I forgot. Didn't realise you had older ones as well and you're a step mum too

JJ glad the scary clown wasn't so scary this time. Phew! You're a brave woman putting the tent up when you get there. Hope the wind stops for you and makes it a bit easier

heron22 · 09/06/2009 15:08

hi ladies, started drinking tea made from aniseed and fenugreek. got the herbs from nealsyard and it is supposed to increase
breast milk supply. any of you tried it?

grey wet day here. hope the weather clears up for the weekend!

hi maltesers

jeanjeannie · 09/06/2009 15:36

Afternoon all. Gosh I'm lack-lustre today; no sparkle - all grey

iris hope you're feeling perkier and the lurgy hasn't taken hold too badly.

jw I think we may need relationship councelling after the errection of the tent

heron I had a go with the Neal's Yard stuff - gosh I stank - it seeped through my pores!! Actually the only thing I found to increase supply was putting baby to boobs more or pumping. Just think it's that supply and demand thing....and tbh it's blinkin relentless!!! I think someone may have already mentioned the BF guru Tiktok over on the BF board. They're good for info. Good luck

Just checked the weather - apparently Sat is a scorcher....please, please don't let it rain at the weekend - two kids...a tent...WAH!!

Tabitha8 · 09/06/2009 15:43

Hello ladies. Did I get that wrong? From Tee's description, I had a spinal, not an epidural - it was done with a needle. It was lovely, whatever it was. I nearly blacked out as my blood pressure crashed quite quickly, but that wasn't a problem as I had a drip in my hand and I was quickly brought round again.
As for the feeling in the legs, my legs were moving about again after about 2 hours and I was up and about within 7 hours. I could feel my legs during the op, but couldn't make my toes move. Quite comical, really. Something to take my mind off all the pushing and shoving that was going on. After the op, the surgeon passed the sweeties round. Cake would've been nice.

jeanjeannie · 09/06/2009 16:20

OOoo, tabitha I'm not sure - sounds like a spinal but mine lasted ages and it was the hospital's policy to keep in bed all night and only move the following day...Mmmmm, mysterious

You had sweets Mind you - my surgeon cut off all the old nasty scar tissue - thus giving me a small tummy tuck...ah, only a woman surgeon would've done that...hahah she actually asked me while I was on the table if I'd like the old scar tidying up

How is life with tinytab? How is DH....all googey-eyed and paternal? Has he done the nappies yet?!

johnworf · 09/06/2009 16:21

heron I had fenugreek tablets from Holland & Barratt. Worked but the smell came through your pores as JJ said. Fabulous in summer and also when on a hot, stuffy NICU. I smelt like a good old fashioned Asian wife

Fingers crossed for good weather JJ in the tent. The weather can really make or break a camping weekend.

Tabitha8 · 09/06/2009 16:24

Ooo, yes, DH has sorted as many nappies as I have. You'd think he'd done all this before. He's become an expert and a doting daddy.
Wish I'd had a tummy tuck - I can't believe the bump that has been left behind. At least my belly button has gone back inside where it belongs.
Still pumping and feeding. I doubled my output yesterday, so things are looking good.

Stormfly · 09/06/2009 16:49

Tabitha - double output is brilliant. (I am taking notes in case I need to do it this time round.)

iris66 - hello! hope you get over the lurgy quickly. (I am 42 with dd 11 and ds 8). I did come on here briefly a few months ago but have been lurking and skulking around with morning (all day) sickness for a while. Seems to be better now though - had 16 week appt today and heard the heartbeat. Sounded like a galloping pony - and I had thought it was a dolphin in there from all the flipping it's doing.

Fingers crossed for onehitwonder - can't wait to hear.

heron22 · 09/06/2009 16:59

oh goody i cant wait to start stinking!
actually, last night, when DH came home, he said whats that gorgeous smell? smells like someone cooked a really nice curry! and i go, it wasnt me, i havent even made dinner. then it occured to me that it was the smell of aniseed and fenugreek tea he was talking about!

tab good to hear your bfeeding is going well. how many days is baby Benjamin now?

Tabitha8 · 09/06/2009 17:41

Heron Benjamin is now 8 days old. Gaining weight now. Probably end up huge. I wonder how I am meant to know when to give up the formula.

johnworf · 09/06/2009 18:08

tabitha really pleased that all is going well with Benjamin. Can't believe he's already over a week old!

tee come in tee. I know it's almost your last day sans bebe but we require your whereabouts I bet you're looking for fluff under the cot or plumping up pillows or something of that ilk. You enjoy it dear.

I've just bought a second-hand Micralite Fastfold from Ebay. In good cond etc. Going to pick it up tomorrow. It's just for throwing in the boot as the Silver X is really heavy to get in and out. Anyone had one and if so, any good? (bit late now as I've bought it but would be interested). Gonna have a quick look on the MN's reviews.........

Tee2072 · 09/06/2009 18:33

I'm here, I'm here!!

Actually I had a lovely 2.5 hour nap, then a 2.5 hour bath and now I am heading out to dinner with DH in a few minutes! I'll be on a bit tomorrow, but most likely not too much as still a few things to do before I head to hospital!

Oh I also had a lovely phone call with my mum, who is awaiting news of gender so she can go right out and buy out the Carter's outlet store by her house!! She also tells me that all of her friends, some of whom I have never met, are sending things along with her! She claims that the baby has 1.5 suitcases all of its own!! Might need a bigger bureau!

tab great news on the BFing front. I would stop formula, but that's me.

Okay, must be off. Speak to you all soon!!!

johnworf · 09/06/2009 18:41

2.5 hour bath??? I'm thinking of prunes now for some reason Have a fab last supper with DH LOL@ your mum and her luggage. Hope she doesn't get stopped by customs and have to open her holiday luggage of onesies, teddies and cute little bootees! That'd be interesting...........

Don't worry about us tomorrow (like you would anyway), but just give your DH strict instructions to post to us, even if it's on FB then someone can relay on here. Here's his list:

What you had
How you and baby are
What he/she weighed
How it all went
How you're feeling
When you're coming out

Print this off for him and he can use it as a template when he's ringing everyone up too!

Have fun tonight dear xxxxx

iris66 · 09/06/2009 18:42

heron - that tea sounds disgusting!! lol at your DH's reaction to it though

I managed to inadvertently get DH into a major panic earlier by revealing that the baby's head's now engaged He had to go straight into work (until 9 tonight) when I got back from the MW but stopped off on route at a neighbours to ask her to keep an eye on me He's phoned 3 times since too. Am feeling very mean and PMSL at his panic (though, to be fair, he's never known spontaneous labour before as his 2 were CS and our 2 were inductions) I have told him that with second/subsequent pgs the head can pop in and out for weeks but he's clearly taking that with a huge pinch of salt. I'll be chuckling all night I think

iris66 · 09/06/2009 18:49

Have a great night Tee - we'll all be sitting here thinking of you with bated breath tomorrow (and sending fluffy vibes ) good luck!

ermintrude13 · 09/06/2009 19:16

Yes, Tee, hope tomorrow is a lovely day for you and that the CS goes well the next morning . Thank you JW for such sensible DH directions

Tabitha if baby B is gaining weight now and your milk is going well there's no harm reducing the bottle feeds gradually over a few days - check with MW if in any doubt, but unless you want to mix feed the sooner he can be on just breast milk the better for your supply.

Iris my DH is unimpressed by 3/5 head engaged, even a week away from due date. He'll be out till late 3 times this week and just insists he'll have his phone on vibrate near his inner thigh

Mmmm fenugreek. Last used it in a Delia lamb and cocounut curry which was so rich I nearly popped (but absolutely delicious).

Neddie · 09/06/2009 19:51

Iris July 6th not long now- I was born on the 5th July and it's a lovely time of year to have your birthday! The children are still at school so parties are great and can usually be held in the garden (no mess indoors).

JJ have a nice camping trip, Dorset is lovely I was born in Poole and lived near Bournemouth for about 20 years- there are lots of lovely beaches etc (and cream teas with Dorset apple cake yum yum)

So pleased your milk production is up Tabitha and baby can probably come off formula at anytime I would have thought.

I don't know about Jules Oliver but I don't think I'll be pinging back anytime soon- I'll be gathering up my belly like an old parachute after these come out.

Good luck Tee (I'm not sure whether you should say that or break a leg... perhaps break waters is more apt!)

johnworf · 09/06/2009 20:11

I'm 6th July. Lots of crabby cancerians on here

Neddie · 09/06/2009 20:18

Funny that -didn't you say we had things in common when you read my profile (except horses)[smile)

jeanjeannie · 09/06/2009 20:19

tee that sounds a wonderful way to spend your last day of in-house freedom Oh Wow - you're mum is going to need an entourage just to help her get the bags through customs!! You have a gorgeous night tonight and I think the list from jw is a fabulous idea for your DH!

jw am of the microlite, I love those things!

tabitha sounds like you guys have got this baby malarky totally sorted - milk supply going well, belly button back in place AND DH has been changing nappies...most excellent Personally I'd slack off on the formula and offer extra boobie if he's still slapping his gums and sticking his tongue out...sorry, I'm not very scientific, but you know what I mean...when they get that funny look on their faces like they're ferreting around for food!!!

Am eating Oreos....someone stop me...purlease!
