Oh meant to say, re the bra measuring...I just couldn't get mine out for fear of shame. They're so bloody saggy, like deflated balloons...I'm sure they'd howl at them as I left the shop. Anyhoo, I found a 'how to' measure your own bra size online and did it that way. Having problems though as I'm now a 36AA and I can only find 36A (but not in the mainstream bra section). I hope they don't shrivel up anymore otherwise I'll have to start wearing vests again

jeanjeannie · 05/06/2009 15:55

Hahahah - this lot probably are z-list peasants! Yes, DPs father's side are a mad bunch....eccentric...V eccentric. FIL's brother was principle ballerina (male!) of the Berlin ballet and then went onto discover and manage heavy metal band the Scorpions I mean that's not your run-of-the-mill life!

Lucky FIL is NOT in the Berlingo (phew) he's going with DP's sis who is worried the seats won't go back far enough to accomadate his bulk!

Do you think Winchester has peasants?

Yes, ermintrude what's the plan with the older kids? Turn up the TV and ignore mummy?!

Tee2072 · 05/06/2009 16:05

Afternoon all.

Just woke up from a 3 hour nap. Guess I won't be doing a lot of that soon!

JW I would totally send the card and K update. Old ladies do like that sort of thing.

JJ they do sound glam. Have fun with them.

ermintrude I used to sell bras for a living. If I acted the way that woman acted today? I'd be fired. She was so very rude to me and her attitude sucked. DH thinks I should write a letter to M&S and I just might.

ermintrude13 · 05/06/2009 17:38

Thank you for your thoughts JW. I'm 38 + 2 so really can't be expecting anything soon but am definitely ready to pop - got all the gear washed and ready, carrying v low and partially engaged, loads of Braxton Hicks but no other sign. Oh, apart from being extremely mardy

If locking DC in the attic doesn't work, that does sound like a birth plan to me JJ . My ideal - therefore this definitely won't happen - is for me to start getting contractions when DC are at school, call DH back from work, get MWs out and then present DC with their new sibling when they get back. But if that doesn't happen there are a few people who've sworn that they really won't mind us dumping DC on them at 3am. Secretly, I'm hoping it will be so quick that there's no need to even wake the kids - no need for them to go anywhere unless I have to transfer to hospital - but don't tell DH that...

It would be better if we could leave DC in bed and get someone round here if I transfer but they're all other mums who need to be at their own houses in the morning so that's not really an option.

Who knows, my evil speedy plan might work yet!

Have fun tomorrow JJ - sounds like it could be a hoot.

johnworf · 05/06/2009 17:52

ermintrude I got myself going into labour on DS#2 by weeding the patio. I think it was all the squatting down that did it. I also think that anything that makes you have a good session on the loo and thereby clearing out your bowels can set you off. I remember having tremendous diarrhoea on DS#2 that came on all by itself. Must be the body preparing a path for baby to come out.

We ended up taking the 2 we had at the time to my mums house just after midnight. They were only little and we had to get them out of bed but as you say, most other people have children of their own. You never know, if on Sunday you have a go in the garden, a curry for tea followed by rampant sex, he/she may be here by Monday lunchtime!

johnworf · 05/06/2009 17:53

Blimey. FiL's sister's car may not get his bulk in How big is he?

duchesse · 05/06/2009 18:19

ermintrude- my plan is this:
1st labour: 40 hours
2nd labour: 20 hours (1/2 the length of the first)
3rd labour: 4.5 hours (roughly 1/4 the length of the second)

Next labour should be 1/8 of the previous, ie 1/2 hour. Right?

I am planning on just sending the children up to the neighbours' while I give birth decorously, have a quick shower and recline.

That's my plan and I'm sticking to it. Oh, and did I mention that this baby will sleep through the night from day 1? [flying pigs]

hedgepig · 05/06/2009 18:53

Duchess there is a certain scientific logic to you plan so I am sure it will work . The thing about sleeping through the night is how you define sleeping through the night you could give it the defination 12 until 3am and then you will be eaisly sorted

Speaking of cunning birth plans I hope Tab is OK and hopefully home by now, and Ladymac how are things going??

ermintrude13 · 05/06/2009 19:07

JW I had an extremely loose bowel before both labours too - much better than having an embarrassing pooing incident during, I reckon. Maybe I should garden ferociously on Sunday. I mean, Tee's getting hers early, it's only fair isn't it?

duchesse I'm sure there must be something in that theory - particularly in them getting quicker. Last one was only 3 hours from the time I decided to call DH (who was 1.5 hours down the motorway and whose car didn't start) to the birth. So this one really could be a quick plop, all being well .

I was wondering about Tab too Hedge. Come in Tab, where are you?

Tee2072 · 05/06/2009 19:15

Yes, tab where are you? Hope everything is okay!

duchesse I think your plan sounds doable. It will definitely happen that way .

FYI all nursingbra.co.uk is having free shipping on all orders, if anyone is still in the market for some Nursing Bras!!

mrsboogie · 05/06/2009 19:22

hello all

Haven't been around as v busy at work today and v tired as D has a cold and coughed us all awake all night last night.

Haven't caught up either but I see Tab and Ladymac mentioned - have been wondering where both are - we haven't heard form ladymac in aaaages!

off for a catch up!

johnworf · 05/06/2009 20:22

Had a quick look on the birth announcements for tabitha but nothing yet.

jeanjeannie · 05/06/2009 21:03

yes, I was wondering about both tab and ladymac

duchesse that plan sound emininently 'do'able

I'm very disappointed in the new-look Gardeners' World It's SO staged and so patronising. I LOVE this programme and it's just all wrong now. I adored Monty - I even like Alan Titchmarsh....but the irritating Alys (even though she bears a passing resemblance to myself when young)really grates. God damm it. The country is falling to pieces, the cabinet is in tatters (or is it rebuilt?) Alan Sugar is set to be Prime Minister, one of the parties in the Euro election was 'The Romans: AVE!' and now, Gardeners' World has gone to pot ...WHAH!

johnworf · 05/06/2009 21:50

Didn't one of the gardeners world presenters get the boot for getting pissed up at some event?

mrsb sorry to hear that D has got a cold again Has Calpol done the trick tonight?

ladymac doesn't seem to have posted anything since she had her baby...not that I can see anyway.

jenwa · 05/06/2009 22:12

@@@@@@@@@Sory Hijaking thread to wave at hedgepig just remember you from the Oct antenatel threads, come and say hi on postnatel and let us know how you doing. Hope all is well.*@@@@@@@@@@@

Ok you can carry on now and sorry for the hijack

jeanjeannie · 05/06/2009 22:17

Awww, mrsb another cold for D Hope he gets a good night - and so do you.

Presenters on GW getting drunk I know that Diarmud got kicked off presenting Chelsea Flower show for advertising something like weedkiller!!

Night night all x

did someone just run in and out looking for *hedgepig?

mrsboogie · 05/06/2009 22:24

wasn't it something to do with her dog getting loose or something?

jw haven't given him anything.

He is being an absolute nightmare re having his nose wiped -he hates it with a passion and goes absolutely bonkers when you approach him with a tissue - screaming writhing, back arched. It's amazing. Poor OH's mum had a terrible time with it all today.

I'm sure ladymac has only posted the once.

mrsboogie · 05/06/2009 22:27

not a fan of that Diarmuid at all - terrible thick accent

Saints preserve us - I think I am coming down with the cold now.

/sigh

jenwa · 05/06/2009 22:28

whoops... meant Hijacking

Sorry, I spied her name and thought I would give her a wave hoping she is doing well.

iris66 · 06/06/2009 07:07

morning all - I've been awake since 3am so not a happy bunny, especially given the long day ahead. I'm hoping to get my head down for a couple of hours when everyone's up though which may reduce my black eyes DS1 went face first into the back step yesterday and split his lip really badly - blood absolutley everywhere. I plonked DS2 into his high chair to deal with it and somehow managed to gouge his eye with one of the wooden spoons he was playing with but thankfully both were ok within a few minutes (bar the mopping up of the kitchen which looked like a massacre had taken place ) I didn't manage to take any photos to put up during my trying on session (sorry) but wore some heeled shoes - only for about 1/2 hour that almost embedded themselves into my feet and gave me awful calf cramp!! I'm just going to have to wear flip flops tonight and hope nobody looks too closely

jj - great news about iris! you must be so relieved. The "definately different" bit made me - she's clearly ploughing all her energies into being brilliantly brainy

duchesse - I like your plan I'd never looked into any correllation between labour times before. Stangely enough my labours were 11hrs, 5 hrs 30 and 2hrs 40 so I'm hoping for something around the 1hr 20 mark

mrsb - hope you didn't have too bad a night of it last night. DS2 has yet another cold too and was streaming all day yesterday. Thankfully his sleep wasn't affected.

Tee - M&S seem to be either great or pants IMO - you can never tell. Have you tried Bravissimobtw?

ermintrude I de-greyed my hair yesterday (still got a bloody Dot Cotton hairdo though aaagggh ) so also feel ok for when this LO comes. IKWYM about the low bump. I sat playing cards on the floor (legs akimbo) with DS2 yesterday and when I got up it felt like everything was going to fall out (John Wayne eat your heat out )

It's rainy and miserable here - looks set for the day according to the forecast (note to self - remember brolly later!) and I've got an overwhelming urge for bacon butties so I'm off to raid the fridge. have good ones all

johnworf · 06/06/2009 07:34

Oh iris. Doesn't sound like a great night, coupled with DS and LO having their little accidents too

Im still laughting at your Dot Cotton hair-do though!

I remember the heavy between the legs feeling too. Always thought that when I'd had a wee then half my insides would be hanging down into the pan for all to see

mrsb K also hates the tissue or anything else that wipes the nose. Screams the place down even though she has snot meeting the usual drool In fact, she's getting a real attitude personality coming through now and I can see there'll be no getting her to do things she doesn't want to. Marvellous. I thought we'd at least get until the age of 12 before she started that caper.

Here's the [[http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2009/05/15/naughtyculture-115875-21360471/ Gardeners World article She got drunk and abused someone, something about her dogs being loose but they were actually locked in her car

jeanjeannie · 06/06/2009 08:44

mrsB crikey girl - you guys are having it bad I'm so sorry. I know we were all lurgy-ridden for ages here - it's no fun.

iris have a lovely time tonight and flip flops are totally acceptable footwear for the chic lady-about-town. Am pmsl@Dot Cotton hair And split lips are hellish - they really do look spill SO much blood.

Righty ho - we're also stopping off at the zoo en route..."daddy's taking us to the zoo today, zoo today, zoo today" Iris wants to see a tiger - one that doesn't come to tea and drink all daddy's beer

johnworf · 06/06/2009 08:55

JJ have fun in rainy Winchester! The zoo will be fun too and hope that the tigers come out to play with their umbrellas (just realised it could be nice down south )

Sorry, I buggered up the link on my last post. Here it is.

iris66 · 06/06/2009 09:05

going back to bed now but remembered that I was supposed to say hi to everyone from wonderwitch. She said she's maxed out preparing for her move but is ok and sends her love.

Hope to see some good news from Tab when I get back

jj hope the tigers come out for Iris

nighty night

Tee2072 · 06/06/2009 09:11

morning all.

JJ enjoy the zoo! I wish Iris lots of tigers.

iris I hope you get some more sleep.

mrsb I hope everyone is feeling a bit better today. Colds suck!

I am off to do some last minute shopping with the pack mule DH in tow. And then the next 3 days will be intense nesting. And then baby will be here!!
