Morning all

alana and sydney here's what a baby nest is - www.amby.co.uk/ I'd never heard of one either but came across it on mumsnet as one of their best buys so checked it out. Bought one off eBay for £80 (ouch) but only because I can then sell it again after for the same amount.
I got taken in by all the recommendations both on the website and mumsnet about how babies sleep better and longer in the night in them. My ds took until he was 8 months to sleep through, so will try anything!
Who knows, the baby might hate it and I'll go back to a moses basket but I thought I'd give it a try and they look soooo cute!!

sydney yay on your holiday man!! Glad you can still go as would have been such a shame. As for DH's job, these things have a habit of sorting themselves out post baby - as a first time dad he will have no real concept of how his world is going to change so his thoughts on being away from home for long lengths of time might well change too. 2 months away from your child can mean missing all sorts of milestones - which can make you rethink things big time.
If things stay the same, then you will cope wonderfully - the trials of this pg have prepared you well for that and you've risen to them beautifully.

becks thought it was you but didn't like to say! hang in there and fingers crossed all is well. You are much more fertile after being pg or a m/c so it's quite common. I fell pg immediately afterwards a m/c and know others that have too. Hope your stay here is a long one

Waves to everyone else - sorry if I've missed anyone's news but I'm on the next page now so can't remember the details!!

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 18/06/2009 11:57

scarlotti just popped on to say good luck today xxx

And good news on the cat front 2 builders found him quite far away, having seen one of the leaflets, and brought him home last night! He's a bit thin, but none the worse for it - he seems very pleased to be home.

Will post to everyone else later - her ladyship is demanding attention!

scarlotti · 18/06/2009 13:34

Crunch thanks, it's tomorrow but you're forgiven Glad to hear the cat has made it home, poor dab must have been starving.

cornflakegirl · 18/06/2009 13:35

Excellent news Crunch! Now you can go back to gazing adoringly at Polly

mumface · 18/06/2009 20:03

Looks like we may have an early one here at 36+5 woke up with crampy tummy & brown discharge this morning,so went in to hospital to get checked out.
Midwife said it looks like a show.About an hour ago my mucus plug just came out. My last 2 came within 1-2 days of this happening.Hoping to hold on til 37 weeks but just had 2 painful contractions 5 mins apart.

scarlotti · 18/06/2009 20:11

Ooh, mumface thinking of you and hoping all goes well albeit a bit early.
My dd was born at 36+4 and was perfectly fine - just smaller which to be honest was very welcome!! She's now nearly 15 and a straight A student who loves life.

Enjoy the excitement of it all

sydneysuze · 18/06/2009 20:47

Wow! Good luck Mumface ! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly for you.

Scarlotti thanks for your lovely comments. Fair brought a tear to my eye. Best of luck with the scan tomorrow. Also thanks for nesting vibes - have just been hoovering!

Who else has one tomorrow? Pregbrain fog is clouding my (usually bang on ) memory but I had a feeling we had two Friday scans ...

Crunch hooray for the return of the wanderer! Am sure he's just reminding you to pay attention to him now Polly's here . I once had a cat who would fake illness just to get Carnation milk ....

alana39 · 18/06/2009 21:04

Ah, I have seen one of those Scarlotti but didn't know what it was called. Had a look but it says it helps prevent flat head, and as I and DS2 have completely flat backs of head this might make the baby look like they weren't mine . Interesting though, and will think about it seriously because neither of mine slept through for over 6 months either. Good luck with tomorrow's scan.

Mumface how exciting!

scarlotti · 19/06/2009 08:51

Morning all

Thanks for all the good luck wishes, am excited and terrified at the same time!

alana I hadn't heard of them before either, and it was purely all the comments about babies sleeping for hours on end at just a few weeks that made me give it a go. Might be complete rubbish for all I know! One reviewer said she had to wake the baby up to feed it!!
Surely that's just nirvana?!!

mumface hoping no news is good news for you

sydney not too much hoovering now, maybe a spot of baby vest folding though...!

cornflakegirl · 19/06/2009 09:52

Mumface - how's it going?

Scarlotti - good luck for today. The hammock looks cool! Although I would like to point out that I often had to wake DS to feed him when he was little. Nothing to do with a hammock, just a mixture of jaundice and inherited laziness!

jungleju · 19/06/2009 09:53

hi all had 2 prev mc and a ectopic followed by a baby boy so there is light at end of tunnel had another mc last month and now preg again so worried more so this time there is no getting used to that worried feeling awaiting a scan date soon i hope!

becks130 · 19/06/2009 10:39

Morning all,

Just wanted to pop in to say good luck to scarlotti let us know how you get on x

cornflakegirl · 19/06/2009 11:29

Hi jungleju - welcome to the thread - hope you have a long stay!

ashleighbeee · 19/06/2009 11:38

Scarlotti Good luck today, I cannot wait for you to get back and tell us how it went!!

Mumface WOWWEEE!! How's it going?

xx

scarlotti · 19/06/2009 12:11

welcome jungleju and hope you're with us for the duration.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes, I shall pop back later on with an update.

cornflake so the trick is to make sure my lazy genes get inherited ... ah, I see!

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 19/06/2009 12:31

scarlotti what's worse is that I remembered your scan was on Friday, but was convinced that yesterday was Friday. Oh dear - perhaps the sleepless nights are taking their toll after all

But this way you get two good lucks for the price of one - GOOD LUCK

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 19/06/2009 12:36

mumface how exciting! Can't wait to hear your good news - this isn't too early at all as anything from 37 weeks is really term and you're almost exactly 37. Good luck!

syd at your cat faking illness, we used to have a dog who would put on a limp when he wanted a stroke - funny how it disappeared as soon as he was bored and wanted to play

jungle welcome, hope you manage to get an early scan, it's a nerve wracking time.

Have just let my cat out for the first time, I hope he doesn't go too far

alana39 · 19/06/2009 14:22

Hi jungleju and welcome.

Is anyone else waking up ridiculously early now the sun's up at 4 something? Sleeping really badly, and there's nowhere to put feet up at work so knackered and getting swollen ankles. I know you're entitled to rest, but what do you do if the only place to have it is at a desk (no staff room, sofas are only in public bits of the building so not really any use). I am turning into such a whinger

Sydney and Crunch my DS2 is a bit like your pets - last year he woke up one morning and said he couldn't walk - and kept it up until we got to minor injuries and he saw a toy he liked. Scarily convincing for one so young - maybe he will be an actor, or a conman

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 19/06/2009 14:28

alana at your ds! And as for the sleep issue, I think I actually get more sleep now with a newborn than I did in the last 3/4 months of pregnancy Can you get a foot stool to put under your desk?

alana39 · 19/06/2009 14:41

I'll get a box, good idea Crunch. Have also just fired off mildly cross email to manager, which may achieve precisely nothing but has made me feel a bit better. Must move away from computer now before I am tempted to contact HR.

RubyF · 19/06/2009 15:17

Hi

I posted for the first time on this thread a while ago to say that I was feeling preg but scared to take the test. Well I did take it and am about 8 wks. But I m so anxious all the time after having a MMC in DEc.

Last night I also had cramps but no bleeding and have been off work today as I didn't sleep. I rand the EPU and they booked in for a scan tomorrow. I m so nervous and cannot seem to think positively.

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

cornflakegirl · 19/06/2009 15:52

Ruby - no similar experience, but I think pretty much anything can be normal at this stage. I know that the worry is horrible though - sending you hugs. It's great that you got a scan so quickly - hopefully you'll see a sticky bean.

alana39 · 19/06/2009 15:53

Hi Ruby, I had cramps for a couple of days in my second pregnancy - perhaps not as bad as yours as I get the impression they kept you awake last night? Glad you have managed to get a scan sorted so quickly. I know it's difficult to be positive, but if you're not bleeding and the cramps have passed then it is hopefully just one of those things - implantation, stretching or something. This pregnancy I had no cramps but some bleeding, having had a MMC last year - everything just seems so much more worrying after that happens, doesn't it? Finding this thread has been such a great help for me. Keeping fingers crossed for you at your scan tommorrow

Tamlin · 19/06/2009 16:47

Alana, yes, I'm waking every morning at dawn and then tossing and turning for a while. Also still having occasional nightmares about DS's birth which have resurfaced recently and are really disrupting my sleep (and then there's getting up to the loo twice a night...) I'm sorry you can't rest at work!

Ruby, good luck at the EPU!

Anyone else feel weirdly fraudulent when getting congratulations? I still have a bizarre desire to say 'Shush, you'll jinx it!'

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 19/06/2009 18:21

Just popping in to see if scarlotti is back yet... still sending "good luck" vibes x

Ruby I had some cramps this time - and am now holding dd in my arms. If they're increasing in intensity and coming really regularly then it's worth going to the EPU just to get it checked out - but otherwise we all get cramps and strange pains (I'm sure our bodies do it just to panic us!).

Fingers crossed for your scan, I hope it helps put your mind at rest. I don't think I was able to think positively at all until after my 20 week scan (which was my 3rd scan). But it does get better, honest.

Tamlin yes! Even in the 3rd trimester I had to bite back the words "we'll see" and "hope so" in reply to all the "baby's nearly here!" comments.

alana hope the box helps
