New one! Thought I would make my mark!

X Posts cornflake my midwife did say about the 10 movements a day as there are so many reasons for the movements becoming more infrequent. He's actually done about 25 today already.. just being a little tinker yesterday/day before I think!

xx

cornflakegirl · 10/06/2009 11:05

Excellent - I'm glad your midwife is so lovely - and that the baby is playing ball again!

ashleighbeee · 10/06/2009 11:40

Thanks cornflake why are things so blinkin stressful all the way through?! You'd think it'd go - have sex, get pregnant, have baby... no inbetween stress and worries x

scarlotti · 10/06/2009 13:22

ash how funny that she'd asked! Sorry to hear your moving saga is dragging on, I think these situations just do. When I bought my last house the money took 3 days to transfer around completion and dd and I had to stay at a friends house

Both of my dc's have been born into houses where lots of work/upheaval has been going on. Thought this one might be different but I suspect the dates will work out that we're moving into rented around the day the baby is due!! The move to family will be when baby is around 9 months so hopefully more straightforward but I suspect not!!

cornflake had no idea if the 10 a day thing was still mentioned, but it had been around when dd and ds were born and there's 11 years between them so figured it would at least be something remotely scientific to concentrate on.
I think sometimes we get movement and don't realise, which then adds to any paranoia!

ashleighbeee · 10/06/2009 16:56

Scarlotti Our house discussion earlier must have prompted someone, somewhere to pull their finger out - we have a provisional completion date of the 26th June!!! Our solicitors are trying to change it to next Friday, so heres to that!!!!

I imagine, in your scenario, your DH, DD & DS can get you out of old house into rented house and back from hospital all without you lifting a finger seriously though, I did begin to have visions of moving mid labour... I suppose as long as your waters dont go on the rented carpet and mine on our brand new ones on our first step into the houses, we'll be just fine xx

sydneysuze · 10/06/2009 17:35

Hello favourite mumsnetters !

Not had much time to post lately as have BIL and his girlfriend to stay. Been lurking a bit though!

Blondie how was EPU on Monday? I hope all went OK as we haven?t heard from you since then.

Crunch fantastic to hear your news, especially that your DH is organising his CBT ? that?s a real breakthrough. Polly must be a good influence. Funny you were talking about missing this thread ? I have been wondering about whether we might need a post-natal knicker checkers? one for a while ?..

Scarlotti glad to hear your H is also behaving in a more D-like fashion. Well done! And I bet you don?t look podgy at all. I however have been lamenting the loss of any kind of gap between the top of my thighs for quite some time now?. Will it ever return????? Good luck with your move too ? quite exciting all this extended nesting going on.

Wheely cannot believe Lara is a 3 month old! Hope her sleep patterns are sorting themselves out.

Lal congrats on the pink flavoured and very successful 20 week scan .

Ash oh you poor duck worrying about all this movement lark ? I?m sure that is the next thing we?re all going to fret about in fact, once all the earlier milestones and scans are out of the way. I think it?s incredibly hard to judge as you can miss so many movements due to baby?s position / busy-ness of day / placenta / size of lunch
Just phone your midwife if ever you are worried I reckon, and keep remembering just how far you?ve come. Hope the move all comes together as soon as possible too so you can get settled.

Alana hope you haven?t got SPD ? have you tried those special sleeping on your left side pillows? Think they are called Dream Genies or something similar. Am considering getting one myself?.

Cornflake great advice re the established patterns etc ? I have anterior placenta and was worried I wouldn?t be able to measure movements on a scale of how many times per day etc. But noting patterns like type, strength and timing I can definitely do! So far LittleSyd seems to get v.active after I eat fish so clearly going to be a brainiac but also likes disco dancing around between 11 and 1am, which does not bode well for her teenage years I fear

Things with me are OK ? all fine with LittleSyd I think, but it is looking seriously doubtful that DH will be home in time for Cornwall trip, so that?s my little holiday out the window . And am looking after his bro and girlfriend while he?s away so I?m afraid dark thoughts have been circulating about my future time stuck at home w LittleSyd while DH swans about Madacascar filming monkeys with Kate sodding Humble or similar ?..

Waves to everyone else - how are things out there lurkers?

Tamlin · 11/06/2009 13:28

I'm still waiting on the anomaly scan to officially add myself to the list. I'm feeling lo moving all the time and am surprised at how close I already feel to him/her - not feeling DS until 22 weeks or so, I don't remember really bonding with him until the third trimester. I really, really do desperately hope that there is nothing wrong...

The one blessing is that time seems to be flying - the first trimester crept by with agonising slowness and every week seemed to take three. Once the bleeding finally stopped (at fifteen weeks!!!) time has simply flown. I can't believe I'm heading for the half-way mark next week.

scarlotti · 11/06/2009 14:32

Tamlin great news that the bleeding has finally stopped and you're doing well. We're at the same stage but I think my scan is before yours, as you had all that trouble with the hospital sorting it out.
Are you going to find out what you're having? I think we will this time.

Am excited about the scan and finding out so am hoping that will keep any worried fears at bay. No doubt on the day I'll start to worry a little more but am starting to believe that I'll actually have a baby at the end of this pg!!

ash great news on your moving date, will keep everything crossed for you.

sydney great to hear from you but that you might not make Cornwall. Nice that you have family around to keep you company at the moment. Will you and DH chat about the amount of trips away he'll do once LittleSyd is here? It's tough when they go away and you're at home with the kiddies - always feels like the rough end of the deal although I'm sure it's no picnic to be away from home and living out of a suitcase either.

Heartburn or acid reflux has now settled in Sigh. Managed to stave that off until the third trimester with ds so am not impressed at it turning up at 19 weeks this time. Milk is helping but I suspect I'll have to get some gaviscon soon too.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 12/06/2009 15:08

cornflake and alana I also had SPD, got very painful up until the last few weeks when it settled down (I'm guessing that baby descending actually stablised things somehow ). My physio was useless, but I did get some crutches for when it got so bad that I was put off going anywhere. Knowing I had the crutches to alleviate the pain really helped me get out of the house when I needed to. Hope yours doesn't get any worse.

Scarlotti oh God, the reflux! I had it so badly this time that I slept propped up on pillows for the last couple of months. I never had it with the boys. You have all my sympathy.

ashleigh hurray at getting a date for your move, fingers crossed it happens even sooner. It's such a frustrating thing having your life in the hands of solicitors and estate agents.

Tamlin so lovely hearing that you're bonding with bump. I was about 17 weeks when I really started to feel something for her (I couldn't let myself before that, and I couldn't stop myself afterwards!)

Lal girls are lovely!

Syd a postnatal thread is a very good idea. We'll have to set one up - I would hate to lose you all in the MN ether Sorry to hear about Cornwall, could you take someone else instead? Any close friends who could bridge the DH-sized gap? You deserve a holiday after looking after his bro!

Polly is still doing well. She's currently grunting like a truffle-pig in her bouncy chair - not quite awake yet. Oops, I spoke too soon, that truffle-pig is stirring!

  • is it just me who looks at her small offspring, with her large podgy belly and long spindly legs, and thinks that she looks just like a pink frog from the chest down?

...

Just me then

alana39 · 12/06/2009 19:26

Hello to everyone, 20 weeks exactly today, had scan which was all fine. Placenta anterior which explains why I've had a couple of episodes of bump moving before my very eyes but absolutely no sensation of any movements from inside, and the baby was moving all over the place but I couldn't feel a thing . Can't believe how much more relaxed I feel - actually feel like I'm going to have a baby rather than just being pot bellied. Have added myself to the list and am off to celebrate with an alcohol free beer!

Lovely to hear how happy you are with Polly, Crunch - reminds me of what I'm looking forward to.

ozbride · 12/06/2009 22:47

Hi, I am new and hoped that I can join you guys in the Knicker Checker club!! My story - was pregnant in Oct 08, very excited, told everyone and then at 7.4 weeks started miscarrying - blighted ovum. Second pregnancy was in Jan 09. My best friend and I were both due on the same day - 25th Oct. I really didn't think it would happen to me a second time but it did. This time there was a baby but at 8 weeks it only measured 6 weeks and I was 100% sure of my dates. The next week I started miscarrying. I have started taking baby asprin and double dose of folic acid and have started trying again. Fingers crossed in two weeks I hope to be pregnant again. Very scared of having another miscarriage. I am sure you all know how the magic of the first time you were pregnant never comes back again but I am trying not to loose the plot!!! My fingers are crossed for everyone here. It is good to read your stories and the successes give me hope while the sad stories give me comfort that I am not alone. I truely wish you all the best xxxx

scarlotti · 13/06/2009 08:14

alana congrats on putting yourself on the list and your scan. Am so pleased that you feel more relaxed now - enjoy the next 20 weeks

crunch lovely to see you again and glad Polly is doing well. I have pictures of DD at about 3 months and she has a neck to rival ET!! Hope things at home are still on the up.

ozbride welcome to the thread, you're in the right place. We've all been through variations of your story so can sympathise - all of us wonder how something that should be so easy and natural has the power to mess with our heads for so long, even when you finally manage to get and stay pregnant. Hope your stay with us is a long one, and fingers crossed this month does the trick

scarlotti · 13/06/2009 19:36

Evening ladies

Well, I did it .... have taken the buggy out of the box and put it up (for those who don't know, it was the one I bought on eBay for the baby I lost last year)

It feel great to have done it and every time I look over at my pram I smile. We're going to buy a new cover once we know what we're having, so there will be a little bit that was also bought for this little one.

Am starting to feel much more positive about this little one now - but am really hoping I'm not tempting fate with the scan coming next Friday. Last time I relaxed into the pregnancy, we lost the baby just a few days later.

sydneysuze · 13/06/2009 22:34

Oh wow Scarlotti well done with the pram! That?s great to hear you sounding so happy and pregnant . Remember, this is a new and different pregnancy, with as good a chance as any other ... repeat at will..... Good luck for scan on Friday, did you say you are going to ask the flavour? Any ideas which you think you?re having?

I have, for the very first time at 26 weeks, taken the plunge and bought a grand total of 6 muslin squares and a multi-pack of vests for LittleSyd and believe me, I dithered over the keyboard for about half an hour before I did that! So bizarre. Not normally given to any moments of doubt when it comes to shopping (more?s the pity) but this baby stuff just pushes my paranoia buttons. I?ve visions of sending friends and neighbours out to pick up stuff after she?s born

Welcome Ozbride do not worry, we have all been there and you are most definitely not alone. I took the baby aspirin for the first 12 weeks too. Fingers crossed for a happy time weeing on a stick in fortnight?s time for you! And where are you from then? [sticky beak emoticon]. Could be a bit of an Anzac thing going on here with me, Tamlin and now you! Better break out the Lamingtons....

Tamlin congrats on making it to the 20 week mark this week! When will you have your scan then? Have you and MrTamlin sent that ace letter to the hospital yet? Hope all?s ok with you. At least now the bleeding has stopped for you.

Crunch you are not alone with the frog thing! I found a letter from my dad describing me after I was born and he said I looked just like a frog with a big belly and long bandy legs always bent and waving around. Charming! I?m sorry to report that DH is definitely now stuck in Greenland til the end of June. That?ll make it the best part of 2 months he?ll have been away, and it is looking extremely unlikely we can change the Cornwall trip time. I?m still hoping though ....

Alana all the best mums-to-be have anterior placentas I reckon . Congrats on a good scan and on adding yourself to the list!

Blondieminx I really hope you?re on holiday or too busy to post or something ? am concerned as we haven?t heard from you since your EPU appointment last Monday. Hope all?s ok with you.

Herb how you holding up? You?re on the home stretch now.....

to Ashleigh, Cornflake, Gently, Lola and everyone else in Knicker Checker Land. I tell you what, I have been thinking lately about just how much I appreciate all of you on this thread ? you are such a comfort to an emotional / freaked out / paranoid knicker checker like me! Hope you?re all having lovely weekends.

ozbride · 14/06/2009 09:56

Scarlotti - Thanks for the welcome and what a big step you have taken, it is nice for you to add something different to the pram, I can't wait to find out what you are having.

Sydneysuze - Hi, first things first I better confess - I am not a true Oz I live in Northern Ireland but went to Oz Xmas 2007 to get married in Byron Bay, I am now officially obsessed with the place!! Visited Sydney too, and Gold Coast, Brisbane, Whitsundays, Hayman. Do you still live there? You mentioned you took baby aspirin, did you take it before conception? I have been taking it for a couple of weeks now but I am slightly worried as I have now read it can prevent implantation - flip sake do knicker checkers ever stop worrying!!!!??? It is so true what you said that this thread gives so much support. How far on are you now? Congrats on taking the next step with the muslin squares and vests xx

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 14/06/2009 14:30

oz there's always something to worry about - it's incredible. Welcome to the thread, I hope you get some good news in a couple of weeks, I'll have my fingers crossed for you.

syd I'm not alone then with the frog-thing Sorry to hear about your dh, very unfair to have to put up with that on top of everything. Great news on the muslin front though

scarlotti your pram post makes me smile. My object was the birthpool. Ordering that at about 28 weeks was my final acceptance that there really was a chance that there was going to be a baby at the end of this I'll be thinking about you on Friday: I predict a... hmm... tricky one... but I reckon you're having a boy (let's see if my winning streak continues)

alana that's brilliant news. And just to keep the guessing going, I'm predicting a girl for you Great to see you on the list - it's getting beautifully long now

We're having a minor disaster here as our cat has gone missing. Knowing his love for jumping into people's cars I'm going to put his picture on my profile in case he turns up somewhere random in the UK

I really hope he comes home soon, I've been completely neglecting him (what with the froggy-baby creature taking up all my time baby-gazing) so feel all guilty. He's never been gone this long before.

scarlotti · 14/06/2009 20:02

Evening ladies

Thanks for the lovely posts re my pram - it was a big step but one in the right direction. Have also got a baby nest from eBay so am obviously on a roll

sydney sorry to hear dh won't be back for a while yet, hope you can delay your Cornwall trip.

crunch hope you find your cat soon and the dc's aren't too sad he's gone.
As to your prediction ... don't know if I feel like I'm having anything specific. I think if pushed I'd prefer a girl but another boy would still be great obviously!

Only 5 more days to wait to find out!!

becks130 · 15/06/2009 13:43

Hi All,

Can I join?? I had a mmc 8 weeks ago and got my BFP last wednesday!!

I am VERY happy about it but I also fear mc again.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 15/06/2009 13:52

becks welcome to the loveliest thread in the world. A huge congratulations on your BFP, I hope your stay here is long and uneventful

scarlotti a baby nest too! There's no stopping you now As for the flavour, I did say it was a tricky one, so I might change my mind about that prediction shortly (in fact today I'm thinking you're having a girly, so much for my superhuman power!). I'll try to get a final prediction for you by Thursday (as it would be cheating giving you a prediction after your scan results )

No sign of the cat yet. I've got posters up everywhere and had a call saying someone saw him on Saturday, but having driven around where they saw him he's clearly moved on I'm beginning to really worry about him now. All the neighbours are looking out for him too which makes me appreciate just how friendly and lovely this place is.

blondieminx · 15/06/2009 18:26

Hi all

Just a quickie to say I am still hanging in there but have had major internet probs -thanks BT - so haven't been able to get on here in ages.

Hope to be back for a proper catch up soon but all is well (touch wood) and my stomach is expanding by the day - want to wait till mid-July to tell work but am sure they'll twig before then tbh!

Hope everything is alright with everyone and that there are happy bumps all round.

alana39 · 15/06/2009 20:19

Great news Blondieminx, hope you get your internet problem sorted soon.

Welcome Becks, you are in the right place.

Crunch - is there any method to your predictions? Currently have several of the other mums in DS1's class telling me what I'm having, since he told his teacher the news and she got him to stand up and tell the class.

Now starting to look at pushchairs (having trashed 3 in the last 6 years, feel this is the one new thing I must get for this baby) but it doesn't get any easier, still have no idea. If anyone can recommend any good websites that have a really wide range would be very welcome - have looked in a large Mothercare and Mamas and Papas but still trying to find ones I like that don't include car seat (have several of those sitting in the garage!). Also don't want to spend too much now I'm faced with another year off work and I don't have parent / in laws wanting to buy the big things as presents anymore! It feels nice to be able to relax a little bit and start to think about things the baby will need - spurred into action a bit by Scarlotti's news I think

becks130 · 16/06/2009 09:03

Morning all,

I spoke to my Dr yesterday who put my mind at ease, he has said that I'm not at any higher risk of miscarriage than anyone else which is good He's going to arrange a dating scan for next week as I have no idea how far gone I am as I didn't have a period after the mmc.

The Dr has said that all I need to do is take things easy and thats all I can do, does anyone have any other advise? Is it normal to be this nervous????

Have a lovely day everybody and I hope your all enjoying the lovely sunshine

cornflakegirl · 16/06/2009 09:38

becks - it's entirely normal to be this nervous - just read back over the thread if you need evidence

Good news about the dating scan - most of us seem to be on tenterhooks from one scan to the next - let us know when you have a date so we can keep everything crossed for you.

alana - you've had 3 pushchairs, and you still want advice on what to buy?! Just get a Maclaren!

scarlotti · 16/06/2009 10:01

morning all

blondieminx lovely to hear from you and glad you're still hanging in here with us

becks welcome and good luck with your dating scan. The first 12 weeks is the hardest I think so just take each day at a time.

alana what sort of pushchair are you after? One from birth that lies flat or can you use a current one for those first few months? We bought ours on eBay which saved us a fortune so that might be an option.

I seem to have started nesting - and at 19.5 weeks this seems absurd!! Not sure if it's just an increase in wanting to get the house tidy or is baby related. Thinking about it, I had thought that I could sort things once we knew what we're having, which hopefully will be this Friday, so maybe that's what it is. Poor DH is being nagged into sorting out all his clothes as he's a bit of a messy bugger - maybe it's not such a bad thing then after all

How's everyone else today? Left work at lunch yesterday as was feeling a bit rough. A nap sorted me out, but then made me realise how nice it woudl be to work part time instead of full time...... anyone got a winning lottery ticket or a 'pay off your mortgage plan' going spare?!

becks130 · 16/06/2009 10:43

I forgot to ask earlier, has anyone tried acupuncture? I thought I might give it a try to calm my nerves.
