Hi All

Popping in as this had slipped off my threads I'm on and it popped up in active convos so thought I'd say hello !

Herby - 37 weeks . How very exciting (probably isn't for you at the moment). Gosh I had forgotten about the failed adoption. The 'Hut' seems a long time ago for which I feel very fortunate. Good luck ! Can't wait for the announcement.

Crunch - glad all is going ok with Polly.

Things here are fine - L had a bit of a cough and cold which was horrid and sleep has gone completely to pot ever since (so for about 3 weeks now). Feels like having a new born again as she seems to have day and night round the wrong way a bit so am going to have to be a little tough with her I think which will be sad but am just tooo knackered. However, she's now 12 weeks and lovely when not keeping me up at night .

Lovely to read all the graduates news. Sorry to read of sad news but nice to see lots of new people on the thread.

ashleighbeee · 08/06/2009 15:45

Crunch!!! Its so fabulous to hear from you, and I cant tell you how lovely it is to hear (read) the happiness in your post. It sounds like your darling daughter Polly was the little bit of magic your H needed to see what he had in front of him. I hope that you two manage to start to be less down and more just continually up... I cannot believe Polly is a month old already! Time is flying past us. It sounds like she is a little angel!

It is lovely to see you back.. keep updating us with your news when you have a chance. Lovely hearing the crunch family update. xx

ashleighbeee · 08/06/2009 15:48

Wheely X posts! It is lovely to have an update from you too!! 12 weeks ? Again, time flies past so quickly! I hope she feels better soon and you both manage to get your sleeping patterns back!

Look at all these graduates coming back - feels like the old days xx

lal123 · 08/06/2009 15:49

Ashleigh - re being 29 weeks preg - I really can't believe that I'm over half way there now - it doesn't seem at all real. We've spent so much time worrying about this pregnancy it hasn't sunk in at all that we're going to have a new baby in 19 and a bit weeks!

20 week scan tomorrow, so have spent the last week going over all the nightmare scenarios in my head (and to be honest (and very selfish) some of the posts on MN don't help much!). Am taking the afternoon off work, to go to DDs sports day for an hour or so and then off up to the hospital. Some un-mn like hugs would be good!

ashleighbeee · 08/06/2009 16:01

Ahh Lal when was your last scan? Keeping all crossed that you're little one is smiling for you tomorrow. Congratulations on passing the 1/2 way point, doesnt it just feel like you've already been pregnant for an eternity though? I hope that your DD enjoys her sports day and all round the Lal family have an exciting day tomorrow. Make sure you update, will be thinking of you! xx

lal123 · 08/06/2009 16:17

last one was at about 12 weeks - AGES ago!! Every so often I have this moment of clarity and think "my God - we're having another baby - what on earth are we doing??????" And then luckily my mind pushes it all to the back again!

We'd thought about taking dd with us to the scan - but if anything was wrong with baby I don't know how we'd handle it.

scarlotti · 08/06/2009 20:15

Evening ladies

Quite a few posts to catch up on - will apologise now as am bound to forget some!

ashleigh almost on the single figure countdown!! Well done for getting this far

herb hoping all goes well for you in 3 weeks time. I had no idea your personal journey had been such a rocky road - makes your current 3 week countdown even sweeter

lal fingers crossed all goes well for you tomorrow, am sure all will be fine.

sydney hope dh heads home soon.

crunch great to hear from you! So glad H has finally sorted out the cbt and that Polly is turning out to be a lucky charm

wheely glad to hear L is on the mend, let's hope the sleep follows!

As for me, I'm ok. Thrush is still lingering in the background but hopefully it on it's way out. Heartburn seems to have made a reappearance in the last day or two aswell!! Sigh.
Dh is doing well though since he went to the docs about his energy levels, the pills are kicking in and life is much better. Good for me as mine will start to drop again in about 10 weeks

Hope you're all fine and dandy!

ashleighbeee · 09/06/2009 09:13

Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is okay today.

Just wanted a quick bit of advice really - the baby has been moving very very infrequently since Sunday - I usually feel him all day and all night and if ever i am worried i just lie on my side and he gives me a wallop... well since Sunday i've felt him maybe a handful of times. I have an appointment at 4.30 today with the midwife as she's at my surgery anyway and i want to avoid a trip to the hospital... Has anyone else had a bit of a slow down of movement? Should i be concerned? xx

scarlotti · 09/06/2009 10:24

ashliegh funnily enough I was going to post the exact same question today, although I'm about 11 weeks behind you.
I remember from last time that as the baby grows more towards the end then there's less movement. There is a medical count thing that they used to use, not sure if they do now, but basically it was 10 counts a day. So if baby gives you a bit of a wriggle and a kick in the morning, that's 2, then another dig or two later makes it 4 and so on. Counting them can help as you feel as though you're monitoring the situation (although you have to mark it down as you'll forget!) and it's surprising how many kicks you get in a day. the difference from previous weeks when baby had more room though feels more dramatic a drop.
Good that you have an appointment though as that will put your mind at rest.

So today for me, I have a funny ache in my bump/tummy. Almost like I've been for a big slap up meal and my tummy is stretched. Am sure it's all normal and just stretching pains but it does feel odd!
Limited movement for me but I suspect that's down to baby being so small still. Do any of you ladies further on from me remember when you start to get movement a lot of the time?

herbaceous · 09/06/2009 10:52

Movement, eh. It's a right mind-fuck. I started feeling Cromwell about 18 weeks ? it felt like he was tapping my insides with a tiny hammer ? and carried on feeling him every day from then on. But it would vary enormously - some days he never seemed to stop, and other days I'd be doing the whole cold drink, lying down, wobbling my belly from side to side, etc business. It would seem he was just having a quiet day, and the next day would be full of beans again.

He still does it now. Sunday he was pretty quiet, then yesterday shifting about so much it was really rather uncomfortable. Ah, there he goes again - pressing really hard on my bladder. Oof.

cornflakegirl · 09/06/2009 11:03

Crunch - good to see you! I'm really pleased that H sorted out his CBT. Can't believe Polly is a month old already - where did that time go?!

Lal - hugs to you. Completely know what you mean about not taking DD to the scan - we didn't take DS for exactly the same reason. Even though by 20 weeks the chances of problems are really low it still didn't feel like it. I was pretty much holding my breath until the sonographer said everything was looking okay. Hope everything goes well for you this afternoon - and enjoy sports day (assuming it's not rained off!).

Scarlotti - great news about your DH too! Although I'm jealous that you have energy at the moment - I've had none the whole way through. I'm getting the whole "feeling really full of baby" thing a lot too. Have been vaguely wondering if it's Braxton Hicks related. With DS I had really obvious BH - if I walked into town slightly too fast, my bump went really hard. But this time I haven't had any really obvious tightenings, so I'm wondering if they're manifesting in a different way...

Ash - I don't think we're close enough to the end yet for fewer movements to be due to lack of space. I do get days when the baby moves more than others though. I'm sure that your little one is fine, given that he is still moving around. But definitely a good idea to mention it to the midwife, given how much he was moving around before.

scarlotti · 09/06/2009 14:07

herb thanks - good old paranoia never goes. Since my post I've had a few odd spurts - I suspect this one is a joker like it's Dad

cornflake interesting you say about the BH, I had some odd tightening type feelings but figured I was way too soon for any BH. I suspect it's more likely to be stretching and what not, but there is definitely the odd sensation now and again. Maybe given this is no.3 my body just likes to show that it remembers what to do - it certainly showed it remembered how to expand rapidly at the beginning
Thankfully this past week my bump is more pronounced now so the rest of me looks less podgy

ashleighbeee · 09/06/2009 14:17

Hi Ladies, thanks for all the replies - I've had a couple of prods since this morning but not any kicks as such. I am sure he's fine as he's definitely moved, but I am still a worry head. I am pleased that others worry too - Scarlotti sounds like you've just got a little trickster in there.. Up until Sunday, I felt the baby move every hour... thank you for your info though, it has helped me relax a bit as my bump doesnt appear to have grown so he must be running out of space in there. I am sure your bump looks lovely by the way and not at all podgy!!

Lal thinking of you today, hope that the scan is lovely.

herb and cornflake thank you for responding. just counting down the minutes until i get to leave and see the m/w! I am just rreeeeaaaalllyyyy hoping she doesnt think i am wasting her time/make me feel like i am wasting her time.x x

alana39 · 09/06/2009 16:00

Ashleigh hope all goes well / has gone well at midwife, with my other 2 I did find the level of movement could be variable and perhaps your baby is just bouncing around when you're doing other stuff and you don't really notice.

Scarlotti I don't think you're too early for BH, I'm sure I've been having the odd one for the last week or two and I don't really remember getting them with the last 2 pgs. Bump goes tight, if I'm lying down then it seems to move up a bit and just feels a bit wierd. It's your scan tomorrow isn't it? Hope it goes well.

Lal I know what you mean about worst case scenarios, my 20 week scan is Friday and have just forced myself not to look at any other threads as there's bound to be something there that is very unlikely to happen to me but I'll only add it to my list of things to worry about

Finally a question - has anyone else had hip pain / discomfort? When I lie down on my side the side I've been lying on aches, and if I've been sitting down for a while then start walking then it's quite uncomfortable until I get going.

cornflakegirl · 09/06/2009 16:26

Alana - I get that too - also a fair bit of pelvic pain, so I have self-diagnosed as SPD. (Told midwife that I thought I had SPD, and she didn't even query the symptoms. I have got a physio appointment in a few weeks though). Could yours be SPD, or whatever the other one with similar initials is? (I know this isn't your first time, so apologies if this is grandma sucking eggs - I didn't have anything similar with DS, so wasn't expecting it.)

rainbowdays · 09/06/2009 17:40

Just a quick update: I am no further forward with knowing what is going on. I have not miscarried yet, but still threatened or certain according to the foolhardy doctor who says the pregnancy sac has shrunk (what do they know about anything!). So in limbo for a while longer. Bleeding stopped and cramps normal pregnancy level. So who knows what is going on, I certainly don't.

cornflakegirl · 09/06/2009 17:51

That's so crap rainbowdays - sending you hugs Have you got another scan scheduled?

rainbowdays · 09/06/2009 18:53

Nope no more scans scheduled, just the blood tests 48hours between tests to look at hcg levels, as the doc suggested it might be ectopic , not sure what leads them to think that when they can see the sac in the uterus!

alana39 · 09/06/2009 19:28

Rainbowdays sorry to see you are still in limbo with this. Hope you get an answer soon.

Cornflakegirl thanks for that, I don't really know anything about it as never had anything similar. I was thinking it might be, well not SPD exactly, but something similar elsewhere in the pelvis. Still have about a year before next midwife visit but will ask her if physio might help if it doesn't get better.

lal123 · 09/06/2009 19:42

rainbow - sorry that you're going through all this - hopefully you'll know more soon.

well...scan went wonderfully, everything where it should be and we're having another girl!!!!

I'm finally starting to let myself believe that we're having a baby - how scary!

Doc was lovely - explained everything, and the scan wsa really detailed. Baby was moving about, not that I can feel much! Its made me a bit more calm about not feeling to much movement at the minute.

Can finally breathe a bit easier again.

scarlotti · 09/06/2009 21:07

lal a girl!! congratulations! Am so pleased it all went so well and you feel a little more relaxed now.

alana nope, my scan is on the 19th so another 10 days away yet. Wish it was tomorrow though! Sorry to hear you're suffering a bit, hope it gets easier.
Am like you in that I have my scan soon but no mw appt in the near future - think my next one is in about 10 weeks

rainbowdays am sorry you're having such a tough time and fingers crossed you get some answers soon. Thinking of you.

ashleighbeee · 10/06/2009 08:57

Morning ladies,

Well the midwife was very helpful yesterday and doppled me - head is still firmly down, she said that might be why i am having fewer movements - she suggested going over the the Day Assessment Unit but it was closing at 5 and the Delivery Unit was option number two, but literally on that bed and on the way home he was kicking and squirming away.. so we have decided to wait, I hope that she isnt angry with me next time i go though... .. Do you think its okay now that he's been awake a lot and have felt movement to wait and see what happens? Or should i be heading down there anyway?

lal CONGRATS on having another lovely girl. I am pleased everything went well.

Rainbow sorry to hear you're still waiting, I hope that things are clearer soon.

xx

scarlotti · 10/06/2009 10:20

Ashleigh great that your mw doppled you! I think everything sounds fine personally, so don't think you need to head to the day unit or anything unless you're worried. Sounds to me like it was a quieter day for him, and if his head is down then it makes sense that he'd move a little less.
According to that kick chart thing, you should feel 10 movements a day - not many when you think about it so maybe bear that in mind for the days when you're a bit worried.

How are the house plans coming along? Do you have a moving day yet?

We're probably going to sell ours too - planning to move back to family next summer so thinking getting the house sold and then renting for 6 months here might be the best way. Moving window is tight as it's between GCSE's and the next stage for DD, so a window of about 6-8 weeks probably!! Nothing like doing it all at once eh!

cornflakegirl · 10/06/2009 10:47

Ash / Scarlotti - not trying to scaremonger at all, but I don't think they really use the 10 movements a day thing any more - I think it's more about generally noticing the pattern of movements and contacting your midwife if there's a pronounced change. So, I'd go with what your midwife recommends, and also what your instincts tell you. If the midwife isn't worried, maybe give the baby a couple of days to see if this is just a new pattern?

Rainbow - it's really tough when the professionals don't seem to know what's going on. I hope the next appointment is more useful. Look after yourself.

Alana - might be worth phoning the midwife to ask for a physio referral? If might take a while to get an appointment.

Lal - fab news!

ashleighbeee · 10/06/2009 10:57

Scarlotti The midwife asked if i'd had my "10 a day" haha, I had been counting from that morning too and i hit a lot higher, but i was just worried as it had been more frequent previously... she was lovely though and told me never to feel like i was wasting anyone's time.

As for the house move, well it would just appear that we have chosen the worst group of professionals, from the mortgage adviser to solicitors! They finally recieved all our money on Monday (deposit) so should have had a moving date yesterday - but after speaking to them this morning it has come to light that no one actually bothered to phone mortgage provider/vendor's solicitors etc! Hopefully that will be done today, sigh, and we'll have a moving date!! It definitely sounds useful to be in rented accomodation by the time you want to look to buy though, you'll be in such a good position and it means that you'll be able to move much more quickly. We will all definitely have to be in touch then, just so you can tell me how successful your move was, how quick and efficient everyone was, and how you were in your new house 6 weeks from offer.. We're doing it all at once too - we'll be less than 10 weeks away from having our first newborn baby and in a new house. Arrrrrghhhh xx
