Aw, Puff

You're not too old, you can use secondhand things and babies are tiny weeny things that live in shoeboxes. Promise.

Fimbo · 22/04/2005 22:56

How old are you?

JanH · 22/04/2005 22:58

We were too old (41 and 40) and too broke (3 other kids) and our house was too small too, but we did it anyway. (Does this help at all?)

moondog · 22/04/2005 22:58

I've got loads of baby crap you can have Puff......

PuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2005 22:59

40 next week.....I know, I know ......it's not really too old. But the whole idea is mad and crazy for us. Still doesn't stop me secretly thinking about it though .

Gah - posts crossed - was of course referring to Moondog's post about baby crap!!!

moondog · 22/04/2005 22:59

And remember..b/feeding is free!!! Do it for about 18 years and you'll barely spend a penny more in Tesco. (Moondog ducks and runs for cover.)

NB it was me that was 41 - when he was born I was 4 days off 42

PuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2005 23:02

lol HM .

It really would be a mad thing to do and we can't, but I really needed to say it!

Dh would have gone for another too I think, if space and cash allowed.

How many children do you have, Puff?

And how are your eyes?

Fimbo · 22/04/2005 23:04

We ooed and ahhed for so long that I have ended up with a 5.5yr age gap between mine, also had a dd first time and wanted another, but was blessed with a son, its strange but I couldn't imagine myself with 2 girls now!! Bonded with my gorgeous boy straight away (dh was secretly scared I was going to be disappointed). Guess what I am trying to say is, if you want it, go for it.

bossykate · 22/04/2005 23:04

so will we be reading coy messages from you on one of the due in ... threads soon?

actually, i know exactly what you mean

wordsmith · 22/04/2005 23:04

I had precisely these thoughts about 20 months ago (I was just turning 41) so we decided to stop trying for a second child.... too late! DS2 celebrated his first birthday 2 weeks ago

I was too old, we were too broke, the house is a bit small, but - kids keep you young, there's always an overdraft and credit cards, and the boys share a bedroom. And I can honestly say that having DS2 was the second best thing we ever did (after having DS1). If you want another child go for it, let's face it you'll never have enough money or a big enough house!! (But you will one day be too old - you're certainly not now!)

zaphod · 22/04/2005 23:09

i agree completely with Wordsmith.

puff, we have 5 kids and we couldn't afford and didn't have the space for any of them. Now shut up and make like a rabbit

PuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2005 23:11

We have 2 boys - 4 and 21 months.

I think I'm having a "sh*t, I'm hitting 40" moment!

HM - haven't made appt with optician yet - hope to get round to it next week.

You must be quite near me - and near Thomcat, in that case!

SueW · 22/04/2005 23:14

I know someone who is expecting her eighth and lives in a very average 3 bed semi. Is your house really too small? Theirs doesn't seem crowded, believe it or not.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2005 23:16

Eight???????? Wow and here's me worry beading about a third!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 22/04/2005 23:19

Ok. I've been easily convinced by you lot that the age, space and money issues can be tossed aside .
