MUM41plus5 · 07/04/2009 15:12

Oh dear mrsb D not too great at the moment either and you have to get up and put your working head during the day.
sending you my sympathy, I know how you must be feeling at the moment and probably like me you're wondering whem will it end

johnworf · 07/04/2009 15:15

The pirate shorts are tres sexy! I'd get my own DH a pair but he wouldn't wear them and anyway, his hairy legs spoil the whole affair as they're like gorilla pants.

Brilliant that you managed to forage for so many easter eggs. I bet Iris is like a truffle pig but swap pig for child and truffles for chocolate

Just got back from a lovely lunch with my friend who is the sister from SCBU. Lovely catch up and sad that she's relocating to Soton to be with her lovely (young) new beau. AND they've just ordered a porche cayenne!!! How am I?!

heron tbh there's loads of great stuff out there for LO's. Much more so these days than when my older ones were little. Have a snoop on ebay. Loads of good stuff for half the price new and much of it in almost new condition. I've sold on stuff that I bought second hand and almost got what I paid for it. Yay for recycling.

olena we don't stand on ceremony here so just dive in and shout up! We're not cliquey on here so feel free to chip in with your opinion.

Now, how did we manage to lose mrsjupiter again?

johnworf · 07/04/2009 15:18

mum41 has the sickness bug hit your house and running through it like a dose of salts? I really hope that they're all back on their feet in time for at least some of the easter hols. I'm sure by next week they'll all be running around and you'll be breathing a sigh of relief ((hug))

Tee2072 · 07/04/2009 15:36

Oh no mum41! I hope everyone feels better soon.

I am officially feeling like crap. 3rd trimester is so.much.fun.

jeanjeannie · 07/04/2009 18:38

mum41 poor you ((((hugs)))) and poor rest of Mum41family Here - have one of Iris's eggs - it'll only end up with me eating it *hands over fat Dairy Milk egg Gosh, the days seem long when they're all ill - and even worse when the weather is nice. It's a slow demise infront of Cbeebies or a sob into your tea and biccies while you hear a nursery rhyme CD for the 10th time!

jw Lunch sounds fun...gosh - now you're at it. That's it - you all go off and have adult company in posh places...leaving me to snuffle around in the undergrowth with my truffle-hound of a child, grubbing about for choccy eggs with other bored-looking mothers. Pah - see if I care A Porsche...??? In this economic climate....what does the (lovely) young man do......drugs baron??

Tues eve...MMmm, what's on Tues...OOoo, Holby (perks up!) and new copy of Delicious magazine - oh well, I'm happy then! Iris isn't even contemplating bed yet as Kelvin - the man with the HUGE grab lorry is picking up all our hard core....she's thrilled!!

MUM41plus5 · 07/04/2009 18:59

Thank you for your well wishes and please keep the the good thoughts up as DT have gone to bed with another 6fl oz they have managed to keep down and DD3 has had a large glass of juice and 2 yogurts and not brought them up for over an hour now must be something in this cyber friendship after all so please let me repay you all by offering a slice of my virtual walnut and coffee buttercream cake and if not to your liking I have some old faithful lemon drizzle no one can refuse

jj hardcore??? what have I missed, last I knew you and jw were having a little harmless fun about DH in his dungarees...what kind of site is this

mrsb for what its worth I'm sending you some (((hugs))) for D, they worked for me, hope D feels better soon too!

Think after the last few days I will have fallen asleep on the sofa by 7:30 and am already in PJ's, a bit like jw and tee the other night, just to much excitment in my life

Tee2072 · 07/04/2009 19:32

The other night? I'm in my PJs at this time every night.

Glad your gang is on the mend Mum41!!

DH said the sweetest thing tonight. I got home from work and was changing and he said 'I know you feel horrible now, but in 11 weeks? The fun will begin!!' Made me go awwwww. (sounds a bit sarcastic when typed, but he meant it in a good way! Honest!)

OP posts:
johnworf · 07/04/2009 20:47

LOL tee not sure you'll see it as fun when the time comes round but nice thought from your DH all the same

Yep, I'm in PJ's as I'm typing. Usually start thinking about putting them on after tea.

JJ I'm not an official gallivanter like ermintrude. I had lunch (1 hour tops) with my friend as it'll probably be the last time I see her for a very long time It was a kind of 'now or never' so that's why I went.

I do believe he has his own business which doesn't involved drugs. It's rather more legit and it's an MOT centre. Not quite in the same league! I'm very excited for her though.

Hardcore? Did someone mention hardcore?! Grabbed my attention (runs to join Iris at the window whilst simultaneously jumping up and down and screaching along with Verity!) OOOOOOOH.

Terrible rash on my ankles I've had for past 2 days. Itches like mad. Think it's an allergic reaction.

ladymac · 07/04/2009 21:04

Hi all.

No baby yet, all that sex and curry (yes, we keep trying!) hasn't done the trick. I just haven't managed to sign on much. Then when I do it takes me ages to catch up and there's no time left to post anything.

It was Elizabeth's 2nd birthday last thursday and we had a lovely party out in the garden. She really seemed to enjoy it, maybe because we'd been getting in the practice at our various groups where she'd been sung to at each one. I'd had to bake many cakes for each one, which is probably why I'd had no time to get online. So by the time it came to her actual birthday my cup cakes were perfect, with pink butter icing and sprinkles for the kids and cream cheese icing for the adults. Yum

Seem to remember people talking about insomnia at some point. I've slept very badly throughout my last 2 pregnancies and at the moment I'm lucky if I get 4 hours in total a night. If I'm laying awake at 5am I get up rather than trying to get back to sleep. I've found that it's an ideal time for baking. While things are in the oven I put some washing on and have a hot chocolate and biccies. I quite often get back into bed after that but not to sleep, just to snuggle up to DH. I try and have a rest when Elizabeth has her nap and over the last 3 or 4 weeks I've actually been dropping off when I lay down. Before that if I had a snooze it would just make me feel lethargic for the rest of the afternoon and evening. However I do go to bed at 9pm. I'm rarely asleep before 11 but at least I'm stretched out and resting.

The midwife came round on saturday at 6pm and gave me a sweep. So much more bearable when it's done in one's own bed. I did actually have a show last night so hopefully things are moving. Had my 39 week monitoring this morning at the hospital and all is fine so I had yet another sweep! The midwife said I am 2cm dilated and my cervix is soft which all sound like good signs to me. So start boiling those kettles ladies and break out the towels Will endeavour to keep you updated.

Big wave to you all and love from ladymac x

Tee2072 · 07/04/2009 21:12

Good to hear from you ladym! Signs do look promising.

::tee runs to boil water::

I have accomplished another major personal grooming chore...I cut my toenails!!! I feel so accomplished that I actually managed to reach them!

iris66 · 07/04/2009 21:17

Ahaaaa! was away at the weekend - wondered where everyone had gone .

Peachy - I'm almost jealous of your doppler -my baby doesn't seem to sleep much at all and I'm punched and kicked awake at around 2.30 everynight with no chance of sleep again until at leat 5am! It's utterly exhausting. Luckily Dh has been getting the LOs up in the morning lately and letting me lie in for a while but he's going away for 5 weeks in a fortnight so I'll be going solo and being veeeeery tired I think.

Tee - I got a cheapo "v" pillow which I've used for the last 3 pgs. One side under bump (or behind back, depending on whichever is more comfy) and the other between knees/ankles. Bliss (until the baby starts poking about!! )

DS1 has discovered the joys of unrolling tons of loo paper and flushing it down (ie blocking!) the toilet. Unblocking is not one of my top ten hobbies at the moment He's been teaching DS2 (17mths) to dive onto the sofa off the arm too - another skill to add to his arsenal of table/bookcase scaling and stair surfing.. though I'm starting to fear for my sanity more than his life so it can't be that bad!!! (I'm soo hoping this next one will be a quiet inactive girl that likes to sleep )

iris66 · 07/04/2009 21:24

wow ladymac - fingers crossed that you get your baby very soon now. Are you having him/her at home? [iris waddles/rushes off to get clean towels and whale music....] (I feel very guilty for moaning about my sleeplessness whilst you're up baking and washing!!)

mrsboogie · 07/04/2009 21:30

blimey iris 5 weeks alone with all that lot going on! we'll have to keep you supplied with cakes!

Mr D seems to be all better now thanks to whoever was asking - it was just a bt of a cough but was troublesome when he woke for his midnight feed as all the gunk had built up in his lungs and he was coughing it up. Put him between us in bed last night propped up on a pillow and once he'd stopped kicking us both in the back at the same time and yanking my hair he fell to sleep and all was well.

He is absolutely refusing to sleep tonight however which is v unlike him and its 2 hrs past his bedtime.

Was offered a third day at nursery for D so in a few weeks its three days there and two at grandmas. Mummy will be superfluous to requirements

mrsboogie · 07/04/2009 21:32

ooh ladymac sounds like definite stirrings - do keep us posted, we're all agog!

iris66 · 07/04/2009 21:42

mrsb add a few gallons of virtual wine and I may just make it Know I'm going to be in bed before 9 every night though.

jeanjeannie · 07/04/2009 21:53

Ladymac!!! HELLO!! waves furiously. Well, a show eh...AND 2cm dilated...gets out knitting needles and looks for bootie pattern. Good to see you're not slacking though and you're getting up in the dead of night to do some baking... Elizabeth's party sounds lovely - and nice weather too - how fab Well, you keep us posted old bean - I mean, feel free to give us a blow by blow account if it takes your fancy All sounds good for the home birth x

iris Woah - five weeks alone You're a brave woman! Your lads sound like a lively duo! Sounds like you need a DD like my DD1 - the aptly names 'Iris'.....she slept from 14 weeks - 10+ hours and didn't walk till she was 19 months...perfect

jw itchy, rashy ankles? Ah, I get that when the cat needs de-fleaing Little blighters leap up from the rug and dine out on anything below the knee...

tee congrats on the personal grooming achievement...*hands a trophy of silver nail clippers!

Awww mrsB don't be daft...at least he won't give you that look that Iris sometimes gives me...as much to say "oh gawd, you again!"

Verity is yowling - she also didn't go to bed till late. It's going to be a long night.

duchesse · 07/04/2009 23:28

Well, how exciting- nearly a new baby on the thread... Good luck Ladymac!

Stormfly · 08/04/2009 08:07

iris66 - ah, those sofa gymnastics sound very familiar, my two are still doing flips, jumps, and somersaults on the furniture. I am thinking of training this one to be more sedate and civilised when it arrives. Am currently re-reading Laura Ingalls Wilder and amazed at the properness of their behaviour - definately what I am aiming for this time round. Hopefully this will rub off on the whole family until I only need to give a look of gentle concern and the dcs will apologise for contradicting each other.

Triggles · 08/04/2009 08:18

Ladymac sounds promising! you must be quite excited!!!

stormfly lol - a look of gentle concern! as opposed to my normal exasperated "would you PLEASE stop jumping on the sofa"

duchesse · 08/04/2009 08:19

stormfly- pmsl. Am determined not to allow this one to behave as badly as its siblings do at times. Am also going to ensure it uses its musical genes to get into the cathedral school and thereafter get scholarships to cut school fees. Will also not be a shy, hiding behind legs instead of saying hello to people sort of little tyke like its siblings were. In short, am living in lala land.

Still, am really really hoping for a slightly more sedate one than its older brother though. Realised yesterday he ticks nearly all known symptoms of ADHD- ah well, he's nearly 16 and is delightful on the whole, so it's survivable...

johnworf · 08/04/2009 08:21

Morning ladies!

Great to hear things are afoot ladymac. Good luck with impending birth. Btw, I'm sure that I've been told along the way, that once you've had a baby your cervix never closes and it can be 1-2cms 'dilated' before labour starts. Did I dream that or is it true?

This rash on my ankles is driving me to distraction. I'm waking in the night now to have mad scratching sessions. These aren't flea bites though. I know what those are and plus, I've just put Frontline on the dog so I can't even blame him. I think I know what the culprit is. I ate half a bag of jelly beans on Sunday and I think the chemicals for the colouring has caused an allergic reaction. I've had this from time to time over the years. The rash has subsided but the itch is terrible.

Ok weigh in for the week. This weeks loss is 2lbs. 11lbs to go until I'm within normal BMI. Ok, it's the upper limit for normal BMI but still, I'll have arrived.

Think we're off to Blue Planet today as I've promised and promised DSS. Need to get hold of floria but no answer from her phone y'day. I'll never get cake at this rate

heron22 · 08/04/2009 08:29

ladymac good luck sounds like things are moving along

looked at my belly last night and thought that they look like pre-preg, so tried on jeans this morning. still a tad tight, buttons wont do up unless i squeeze myself till go blue in face. so put on more loose pair. another few kgs to go.

so hard to do though! was hankering for chocolate last night. but did not have any in the house, so that was good

have a good day everyone, the rain has stopped and the sun is shining!

Stormfly · 08/04/2009 08:38

duchesse - excellent plan you have there for the confident sprog with the musical genes! I hear Radio 3 are about to start Handel week so turn up the volume. Lol at Lala land! I find it a happy place to be and am staying there as long as possible!

jw - seriously impressed on the weight loss. Hope the jelly beans calm down today.

duchesse · 08/04/2009 08:52

Oh, and it'll be tidy! And will do its homework with no trouble...

Tee2072 · 08/04/2009 09:43

Morning all!

duchesse I am living in lala land with you! DH and I were just discussing the other night how the baby will never cry, sleep on demand, eat what we give it and never rebel! Its such a nice land where we live, isn't it?

JW go you on 2 more lbs gone! I hope I have your willpower after baby comes.

stormfly I remember my nieces bouncing on my mother's sofa and my mother saying, in stern Granny voice 'We do not jump on Grandma's sofa!' The girls just smiled and she melted and let them continue!!

JJ thanks for the trophy! I do feel very girly today. Even wearing a dress!! [Tee wonders if she should confess that she is wearing the dress because she hasn't been arsed to wash any other work clothes?] Did I say that out loud?

I am really hating this trimester, ladies. I ache all over, can't sleep, wee every 10 minutes and just in general feel bleurghy. 5.5 weeks and I am on leave, THANK GOD!
