MrsB I agree, I'm just going to use it for reassurance when I'm genuinely concerned, rather than all the time. I read that about babies not liking it - don't want mine to come out in a foul mood with me...

We've had a morning of dull administrative duties, went and registered as bone fide german visitors in some faceless bureaucratic office and then tried to work out what the ticket on our car could mean - it's made up of the longest words you can imagine and apparently it means we need to get get ourselves a little round green sticker. Got my felt tips and sticky-back plastic out now...

More importantly, I've got my certificate that entitles me to endless maternity care here plus free yoga

jeanjeannie · 06/04/2009 15:50

hello all, we're all thoroughly 'parked' out! Verity is wailing as she's over-tired and eaten too much!

ermintrude greetings! I love a good wedding with plenty of food! No one worries about DP's ex-wife .....she lives in Boston (the US not Lincolnshire!) plus there were no children, so that's probably why. She's very tall and thin - quite nervy....so we're clearly complete opposites

peachy I don't think you're daft - it's nice to get reassurance. Neither of my girls kicked much - except in the evening when they 'rumbled' around! Am very of the yoga - paid a fortune for mine!

mrsB roll on home time...you're amazing...don't know how you're doing it. *offers out HUGE pat on the back

Anyhow...it's PICTURE TIME! Yes, check out my profile to see what Iris got up to after she's had her nap. Not sure Social Services would approve but she enjoyed it. And scroll down to see the bonkers bunnies FIL bought round yesterday. I ask you - where the heck are we going to put these....??? x

johnworf · 06/04/2009 16:13

LMFAO JJ!!!

I'm appalled! You could at least have got Iris her own hard hat!

And as for Verity, she always seems to have that intense look about her. She's very serious isn't she? The rabbit is very scary though...praps she's planning an escape route from it. Hope you're not going to put that bunny in their bedroom. They'd never sleep

Did JRJ thrust the bunny upon the girls and boom 'THERE YA GO YA LITTLE RASCALS. NOW BE ORF WITH YA'? If not, then I have images of him doing so.

olema5 · 06/04/2009 16:14

just want to say hi and i am new to this, i am 43 years old with 3 grown up children, i have also got a 6 yr old from my marriage now and am due to have another baby on the 24th April, which is definately my last one...

mrsboogie · 06/04/2009 16:14

Oh wow jj fab photos! That digger thing looks like fun - wouldn't mind a go on that meself!
Love V's face in the bunny pic too.

Not hometime yet for me. Not til 6. And people are eating CAKE here - how rude!

johnworf · 06/04/2009 16:15

Btw, meant to say, loving the dungarees. I see what you mean about them being a bit on the sexy side That's a compliment to OH btw and you can tell him so

peachyfox · 06/04/2009 16:17

Hey Olema and welcome!

Tee2072 · 06/04/2009 16:21

Welcome olema!

OMG JJ that is hysterical! I do think she needs a hardhat though. Maybe with Bob the Builder on it?

And that bunny? scary!! peachy I am also about the yoga. I haven't been able to go at all due to stupid class times. The only one available meets at 5pm on Tuesdays. Um, hello, what about working mummies to be?!?!?

Here's a link to an article from saturday's Times about 'natural' CS.

Thought it was interesting.

Tee2072 · 06/04/2009 16:36

That's really interesting JW. I don't know how I'd feel about being able to see myself cut open, although the article seems to indicate that the baby blocks that view.

I may try to discuss with my OB/Midwife if CS becomes inevitable with me. Right now I still have a 50/50 chance!!

Tabitha8 · 06/04/2009 17:30

Welcome Olema and congrats on the impending birth.
Peachy I bought a doppler and used it when I needed to - when all had gone quiet for too long. It's all about sanity, methinks.
I've heard of a natural cs before - bet they don't offer them in many hospitals, though. I shall ask my midwife.
Any news on Ladymac or have I missed something already?

jeanjeannie · 06/04/2009 18:00

Welcome olema nice to have you along and CONGRATS! Gosh, you're really close now - how you feeling? Very large and cumbersome I imagine

jw hahahah - that's Verity's happy, relaxed face Mmmm, she does indeed always look like she's adding up 2 large numbers in photos but in RL she's a shrieky, happy soul!

I'll tell OH, he'll be thrilled plus he's 'whippit-fit' at the moment from all this manual labour - which pleases me no end
Ahhhhhh, younger men......

tabitha yes, I was wondering about ladymac....OOOoooo, I wonder if she's popped yet?

tee I had a similar thing to that natural cs - the drapes were lowered, I saw her come out and then she was put in a towel and given to me....I was still able to use my arms ok. Not for the squeamish, but then I'm not at all. Back in 2001 had an operation on my hand and I asked to watch - it was fascinating. I had a block to part of my upper body and they were moving my fingers by pulling up the tendons...amazing!!

I think the CS being done that way helped with the BF as, by the time we were back on the ward, Verity was clamoed to me like a limpet! The pic on my profile of all of us at the hospital is about an hour after the birth!! The piece in the article is probably the next step up.

Off now to see if they make baby (Bob the Builder) hard hats!

sissy0928 · 06/04/2009 18:01

Found you ladies! Hope the weekend was great for all...not much here, met with some friends and did a bit of shopping with DD1! Had to rush and borrow #2 in the "Twilight" book series for her, didn't realize she'd obsess and stay up til 3am to finish the 1st one!! Love how she reads, though!

Jean - WHEN you get to Colorado, make sure to get up to Estes Park, it's beautiful, one of my favorite spots!

BonzoDoodah · 06/04/2009 18:13

Hi all - I managed to find you at last! No crumbs to follow though ... you all talk and talk!

Can anyone sum up what's happened in the last week for me? I can't read through 30 pages.

We had a wonderful time on holiday in Tenerife. M loved the sand but hated the sea - too cold so scared her. But we all had a wonderfull chilled time - few photos added to profile to show how M has grown while we've been away.

johnworf · 06/04/2009 22:19

Fab piccies bonzo and welcome back to the fold Glad to hear you had a good break and LO is looking very grown up and girly

Just got home from marathon session around Ikea. I'm frazzled and all I can say is thank goodness for the Doblo as we managed to fill it with what seems like a whole floor. Lordy. I had half of one of DD#1's meatballs and it was divine and I was left wanting more but resisted.

I'm now looking at one of my spoils (I didn't go shopping for me but ended up spending almost £50 ). I got one of those tea lights holders and I have 7 lovely smelly ones in there. DH said it's a fire hazard and I'm to throw it away immediately. He can go jump.

Where are you mrsb? How has your first day gone?

ladymac please radio in. We've lost you on the radio.

Welcome all new ladies We're going to have to revise the list again at this rate!

Glad you found the article interesting. I thought it was a splendid idea.

JJ can I request a signed photo of your OH in said dungarees looking buff. Pretty please? Tis a fair swap for PS7 methinks

peachyfox · 06/04/2009 23:02

JJ loved the pics. What is it about men and heavy machinery?

jeanjeannie · 07/04/2009 08:02

Morning ladies...a WHOLE night's sleep YAY!

Bonzo so pleased you had a lovely time AND WOW - M really has shot up - look at her - all girlie and grown up!

jw A signed photo is indeed yours and yes, I think it is more than a fair swap for PS7!! WOuld you like him posing....or 'doing manly things' ?!

OOooo, I'd love an IKEA shopping trip. I just enjoy gazing at all the stuff and marvel at just how lovely you can make a teeny little room. And how they're always laid out as though a dinner party is about to commence.
I fancy their fish and chips today. Would like some more kids storage for Verity - she's already swamped under her own weight in toys.

Egg hunt on the Rye today if it doesn't rain.

Tee2072 · 07/04/2009 09:14

Good morning all!

bonzo lovely piccies!

JJ Yayayaya full night sleep!

JW tell DH its only a fire hazard if he knocks it over!

As for me...not a full nights sleep, thanks to DH's knee in my bump at around 2am. I got up to move to our spare room, which woke him 'what's wrong?' 'You're kneeing me in the bump.' Exit stage left. Managed to get back to sleep fairly quickly, but beginning to think not enough room in the bed for all three of us!!

Hi jeanjeanie, sry for delay in replying, feels like i am butting in on peoples conversations!!!!!! yeh got 2 wks and 3 days not that i am counting!!! feel like a big hippo.....just another waiting game now, you would think i would be used to it by now but i am not, actually feel really nervous this time because of my age, been told everything fine though so fingers crossed......r u pregnant at the moment? if so how far gone are you? do you have any children already?

heron22 · 07/04/2009 09:46

ah finally found you lot!
like bonzo said, i cannot catch up
how is everyone? welcome to olema!
last night and the night before, i fed my LO at 11pm and he slept till 7am!
he is 12 weeks old today. and i hope this sleeping through is for keeps!
weather not so nice today, apparently lots of rain is coming our way

was hoping for a lovely sunny easter!

mrsboogie · 07/04/2009 10:45

mornin all

heron D is 28 weeks and hasn't done that once yet!

olema please don't feel that you are butting in on conversations - we are a dreadful lot of natterers and have been running through threads like nobody's business. A few of us on here jeanjeanie and myself included have given birth in the past year and have hung around like a errr badsmell an exotic fragrance contributing to the conversation. Most ladies are pg though and one ladymac is also due any second. We are currently waiting for an update from her! ahem ladymac..

No work today but the flipping buggy wheel is flat again which is so v annoying as I have no idea how to fix it.

ermintrude13 · 07/04/2009 11:03

JW and JW what's all this Readers' Husbands business, you'll get us closed down .

Bonzo lovely pics, glad you had a good time. We're off to Northumberland coast on Sat; I fear the weather won't be Tenerife-like, but we will have a bit of seaside.

heron can you please tell those of us who are expecting exactly what you did to make a 12-wk old sleep through?! Chloroform? Double-strength baby-rice in a bottle? I want to know! Good news, hope he keeps it up. .

We're going to see Ed Byrne tonight, yippee!

heron22 · 07/04/2009 11:09

Ladies, advice please?

my LO is 12 weeks old and weighs just over 7kgs. i am looking to buy him a seat or bouncer of some kind. has anyone got a beanbag? i saw it on mothercare and it looks comfy. which would be better a beanbag or bouncer?

johnworf · 07/04/2009 11:16

Blimey heron Katherine weighed in at 6.8kgs last week so you've got a right heavy weight there! I've got a Baby Bjorn bouncing chair that goes right up to the age of 3. Not sure about bean bags as I've never had one but I know that K loves to bounce (very hard) in hers

ermintrude you get out and about far too much for my liking I remember taking my older ones when they were little to Northumberland. Lovely. We stayed in a cottage just outside of Alnwick but did Seahouses, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne and all the castles along the coast there. Fab! Hope you have a great time. Don't forget to let the kids have a good runaround in the sand dunes

K's been sleeping through from around 12 weeks but no idea what happened. I take no credit for any of it.

ermintrude did you mean myself and jj as opposed to jw and jw (as that would be me, myself and I)? Basically, I've traded her some software for some semi-pornographic pictures of her OH. What's wrong with that? It's very Marxist you know

mrsboogie · 07/04/2009 11:19

D has been sitting in a bouncy chair since day one (not continuously I must stress ) and its been a godsend. I'm not sure whether you would be able to leave him unsupervised on a bean bag but with a chair you can pop out of the room or turn your back and they will be fine. I found the chair let D have a great vantage point on the room and let him feel included in whatever is going on. Plus they can be used up until they are toddlers. Probably more useful than a bean bag IMO.
