TMI but farts entering vagina

WifeofGeek · 29/03/2009 20:02

When I farted before it bubbled up into my vagina, being 19 weeks pregnant I worry is this like being blown into wilst having oral sex. I know it is dangerous but it this different as it wasn't forced in? Even though it was rather alot of wind!

i'm afraid i have to join the other brave ladies in admitting this has been happening to me since ds2 was born 7 weeks ago

it's a horrible sensation

hobgoblin..... i can barely sit down 2 days after birth!

me23 · 05/04/2009 19:45

this thread has made me lol with you all not at you!esp hecate's description as I must confess it happens to me too, only in the last few weeks and my dd is nearly 4 it's such a weird feeling.

Baisey · 06/04/2009 15:23

Yes that happened to me with my last pregnancy, weird feeling, was because I was sat down on computer chair and was wearing tightish jeans, didnt worry me though.

2 days... 2 DAYS? bloody hell fire... I could barely pee 2 days after giving birth and I had no tearing or any other problems!
2 days... shakes head nutter. lol.

mosschops30 · 06/04/2009 15:30

Ha ha this happens to me, I secretly giggle about it, dh thinks its digusting because when it comes out its then like a fanny fart and sounds like one too

theyoungvisiter · 06/04/2009 15:44

good lord, I hope next time I have to ask a personal question on here I don't get a bunch of unqualified know-it-alls telling me I must be making it up and then bitching about taking the piss . l

Let's hope you all get a more sympathetic audience next time you have a worry.

Wifeofgeek I know exactly what you mean - I've only had it since my second birth and it's going away with pelvic floor exercises so I think squeezing is the answer! I'm not a doctor but I'm pretty sure it's not dangerous - I think the danger would only be if there was sufficient air at sufficient pressure to go right up into your uterus - not likely with a fart but just about possible if someone was blowing into you I guess, hence the warnings about oral sex.

And DSM what on earth do you mean "that's ridiculous". of course it's not ridiculous - if you're sitting in a particular way it's perfectly possible and you can feel the air entering the vagina in the same way you can feel a penis going in there. Your vagina isn't an enormous open cave you know (at least mine isn't!) - the sides normally touch each other and if air gets forced in there you can feel something is there.

bamboobutton · 06/04/2009 15:44

i think dsm suffers from the same thing as my DH: " i've never experienced it, so it doesn't exist!" syndrome.

OP, this happens to me too! usually when i am sat with my legs crossed.

Baisey · 06/04/2009 15:52

I think this is great. It only takes one person to mention something rather embarrassing and all of a sudden we find out its actually not as rare as we think, we should start a club. (sniggers as she tries to think of a name)

WifeofGeek · 06/04/2009 16:42

So looks like I'm not alone.
Maybe fanny farts anon group

Poppet45 · 06/04/2009 17:53

And last but not least it isn't AIR anyway, even if people do politely refer to it as wind.
It's methane, which I'm fairly sure can't cause an air embolism.
Whatever it is it's got to be a sign from god that you need to up those kegels...

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/04/2009 18:14

Look, I'm sorry but

'It just scoots along and ripples about in your flaps'

made me laugh so much that I experienced uncomfortable double-hole flatulence and I'm quite heavily pregnant doncha know.

It could be dangerous!!!

Oh bugger .

And.....and....and...and....sex 2 days after giving birth? Why? How?

theyoungvisiter · 06/04/2009 20:41

Poppet - surely an air embolism is just a bubble of gas in an artery - I can't see why it would matter what kind of gas it was. It would still be dangerous if it was a large enough bubble. Why would methane be any less of a risk?

I agree it's a very remote risk - but I don't think it's any more irrational to worry about it than lots of the other irrational thoughts that crop up when you're pregnant.

theyoungvisiter · 06/04/2009 20:42

sex 2 days after giving birth - now agree THAT is irrational!

mammapiggy · 06/04/2009 21:45

right thats it im never going to fart again after reading this

op - pg women have been farting for millions of years so try not to worry too much
this is the kind of totally irrational thing that used to worry me when pg so i do sympathise!

hobgoblin - 2 days????????? there are no words

Cazzaben · 07/04/2009 01:58

So am I right in thinking its dangerous even if your not pregnant??

When we have it doggie I get fannie farts quite a bit... Maybe we're doing it wrong?
PMSL though... I know it can be serious but I have to laugh (not in a take the piss kind of way though) Just reading it is making me wet myself... I need Tenna lady ultra mini now HAHAHAHA!!!

Just think what would happen if you had the runs[grin!!!!! Now that would be bad

MumOfBaby · 07/04/2009 08:15

I have only read 1st two pages, but just wanted to say this happens to me too. More so since I had DS (nasty tear, lots of sewing and some bits 'left over' so to speak). Please don't feel silly for asking. I worry about the same thing. I think if you 'fanny fart' it back out, you'll be ok. Sorry for the TMI and lack of tact.

And I heard the same thing about some people blow into fannys during oral and it can kill you or something.

Poppet45 · 07/04/2009 09:18

Young visitor - it would matter what the molecule of gas was as some compounds will be able to cross the barrier of the lungs via the capillaries and some won't. I don't think the body has an affinity for collecting up methane, in fact I suspect it would be unable to cross over, so it's very unlikely to reach the lungs and cause an embolism.

Cazzaben · 07/04/2009 21:31

My sis just admitted that it has happened to her. She's not pregnant and has not ever had a baby... So just goes to show it can happen to anyone... Still wondering bout the runs though

Still PMSL at 'It just scoots along and ripples about in your' Goodness... that... is... hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Cazzaben · 07/04/2009 21:31

sorry forgot to add 'flaps' in there still LOL

Swedes · 07/04/2009 21:33

Were you airborne at any stage?

mammapiggy · 07/04/2009 21:49

oh deary me, whenever i am feeling down i just think of this thread and suddenly i am walking around laughing to myself and the dc's are asking me what i am laughing at!

just to clarify i am totally not taking the mickey here but honestly youve got to laugh haven't you!

i am sure there are some definite contenders for quote of the week in this thread there are some corkers LOL!

cazzaben i agree - 'scoots along and ripples in your flaps' omg my sides are aching from laughing!

Willsmum1 · 20/11/2011 21:24

This happens to me too. Quite weird but funny. These posts had me in stitches - thanks ladies and hope noone is worried anymore x

TheWonderfulFanny · 20/11/2011 21:32

No idea why this got revived but so glad it did Grin

mamaoftwobeautifulboys · 20/11/2011 21:33

To try and avoid it happening I lift my butt upwards but makes my hubby pull a disgusted face .......... he was at the business end during both births and now this fart diversion thing happens -I am sure he will stop fancying me shortly, hahaha x

effingwotsits · 20/11/2011 21:37

Oooh I sometimes have scooting flap farts! Didn't know it could be down to having a fanny like the beyeux tapestry. Now it all makes sense....

effingwotsits · 20/11/2011 21:39

Just woke ds up laughing at "double hole flatulence"!
