Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

Tablets tee it was the only way for me in the end - all other heartburn remedies made me want to vomit...and I did!

Yes jw centre parc in Nottingham...tis very popular. And to think that I thought Centre Parcs were a middle class Butlins... Apparently I am very wrong!

The extra hour threw the girls too...both went to bed at gone 8pm - very late for them. Plus Iris didn't have her nap today as DP's Brother and girlfriend were over as he helped with the concreting in the garden....she was way too excited for a nap.

Loving your stuff from the M*P sale...especially like the black necklace...like I say...you can't go wrong with black!

I shall join tee in a winge. I banged my head till I saw stars earlier this evening and I've got a nasty, white puss-filed spot on my eyelid...Grrrrr

mrsboogie · 29/03/2009 21:50

ooh yes good idea jj a mass booking of centre parcs for MN's finest old biddies and their sprogs

/sings let's all meet up in the year 2010

johnworf · 29/03/2009 22:03

that sounds like the cue for a song mrsb.

I take it you're referring to my older DD there mrsb? Yeah, she'd be pretty if she hadn't had tattoos drawn all over her Anyway, what can you do with 'em when they grow up. Nowt is the short answer.

Black's the new black as you said JJ. OOoh concreting. And a puss filled eyelid. You don't half rock today

You are indeed very wrong for thinking they're posh Butlins. For one you need a second mortgage to go there. Apparently you don't need to do all the activities (according to DD#1). She said you can go in the dome with the LO's (free) or ride around on your bike (very good I'm told). I want SPA, SPA and more facials, pedicures and massages than you can shake a stick at. Cheapest one though is £50 for an hours basic massage. Fark. I better get saving

ermintrude13 · 29/03/2009 22:06

Quick newsflash: I am unblocked but sure there's more to come. Still getting pain. Glad I'm seeing mw tomorrow

And ladymac someone said they'd rather have an induction than a sweep - not I, I had a sweep when DS was 10 days late and it was extremely painful because of my 'ripe' cervix, but I had a huge show less than 24 hours later and gave birth 5.5 hours after that so I was extremely grateful to avoid the horrors of induction. Every single induced woman I know has had forceps or ventouse and I couldn't bear it. Am going to talk to mw about it tomorrow.

Off to take more syrup of figs. sorry not to catch up properly.

ladymac · 29/03/2009 22:11

mrsb really sorry that little D is having a horrible time of it with his teeth. My dd1 was awful when every one of hers came through, luckily none of the others have been so bad. In this house we refer to the little teething sachets as baby coke Not sure it helps with the pain of teething but I think it can help when they're out of sorts. Sounds like you've got nothing to lose at the mo so I'd give them a try. Also if Calpol is not working how about trying baby Nurofen?

jw I especially like the bracelet you bought. I haven't bought anything for myself for ages. Waiting until after I give birth and have dropped a few pounds before I treat myself. Which probably means I'll hit the shops sometime next January.

johnworf · 29/03/2009 22:18

ermintrude I've been induced twice; once on DD#1 and again on DS#1. I had forceps with DD#1 but I think that was more to do with the epidural as I couldn't feel anything to push. I didn't have any such messing about with DS#1 and he came out of his own accord. Not sure if it's because I had a bucket fanny by then.

Awww ladymac. You don't have to lose weight to wear a bracelet....do you?

johnworf · 29/03/2009 22:20

Meant to say mrsb hope that D is feeling better very soon. It must be awful the pain of teething. I just used Calpol and Bonjella first time around. Guess nothing much has changed in the intervening years or is there some new fangled process you have to go through for teething these days?

On the premise that marshmallows have no fat in them I've just eaten almost 2 bags of them. I really wanna puke. Gah. Serves me right

ladymac · 29/03/2009 22:22

I had 2 sweeps last time and I didn't find them that bad. Like you ermintrude I will do whatever it takes to avoid being induced. Went into labour shortly after the 2nd one.

Had a curry on friday night and sex on saturday morning but baby obviously not ready to make an appearance yet. Just more Braxton Hicks. Will keep trying though cos it's fun

mrsboogie · 29/03/2009 22:54

yep I'd second the induction is vile opinion. I'd nearly prefer an elective cs.

Yes jw I meant the elder beautiful daughter rather than the younger- her centre parcs (I think) pics popped up on my fb. Saw the tats yes, but she is still gorgeous
Nothing has changed its still Calpol and Bonjella but I will get some baby coke - I remember you talking about that ladymac

Tee2072 · 30/03/2009 07:55

Morning all.

Well, managed to choke down a couple of Gaviscon tablets and had an okay night. I really need to learn to fall back to sleep after getting up for the loo, so I can do the same after getting up to feed baby, rather than staying for at least an hour after. Any tips on that one?

ermintrude glad your feeling at least a bit better. Hope the MW can help today!

mrsb hope Mr D's teeth break through soon. Not a very well designed system, me thinks.

JJ I hope your head and eye are okay soon! Sounds painful.

JW that many marshmallows would make me very ill. But I don't really like marshmallows unless they are melted over an open fire!

Off to work, I'll catch up again later!

johnworf · 30/03/2009 10:02

tee think you need a word in your MW's shell like.

JJ did they manage to scrape all the barnacles off this morning?

mrsb won't convey your compliments to DD#1 as she's vain enough! Just can't pass a mirror.....sigh. Hoping you had more luck with sleep and Mr D last night.

I'm on a forced marshmallow embargo today. You can get too much of a good thing. Apparently

Enjoying this week as DSS finishes for 2 weeks on Friday. We're at cardiology appointment early tomorrow morning, which I'm dreading. Unless they jump in the air and say 'hurrah, it's closed up all by itself', then I'll be wringing my hands as they give me a date for the procedure.

Kaz1967 · 30/03/2009 13:13

Hello everyone still around have not got the concentration to read much, hope everyone is ok

Entered Kez in the cow and gate happy baby competition could she could do with some votes just type in Kezzy she is crawling

www.happiestbabiesuk.co.uk/happiestbabies/view

ps I will obviously vote for any of the cute babies from here who are also entered

jeanjeannie · 30/03/2009 13:26

Morning / afternoon all.

jw yes, she did indeed scrape off the barnacles....and fished out a few things I'd lost up there a few years ago...bracelet, a sock, old handbag and two bits of lego Such a non-event really, not even on my back for a minute....so, not even chance for a rest!

tee if someone gives you the magic code for the ability to go back to sleep after a loo trip then pass it over to me please....I've still not cracked it

ladymac Curry AND Sex all in 48 hours...blimey, I'm Hope sweep was fun and nowt has dropped out yet

I loathe marshmallow........UGH! I think it relates to the jelly dislike...it's a textural thing...Eeewwwwww

Been to playgroup this morning, there was much moaning about lack of primary schools...five out of 12 mums hadn't got ANY of their three choices Apparently the lack of schools (as they closed loads of the small ones in 2000) has reached crisis point....eeek! Turns out Bucks has the worst record for parental choice....as there is non - you're just lucky if you get a place at all!!! Hands in pockets for us by the looks of things....*looks round for stuff to ebay to start a fund!

OP posts:
johnworf · 30/03/2009 13:48

Bet those 2 bits of lego came in handy It comes to something when you go for a smear just to get a sneaky lie down - and fail to do so.

Finally opened K's child trust fund today - she's only 10 months old. DH has been dragging feet. Nowt new there.

kaz I've voted for Kezzy.

Bit of a bugger re the schools eh? What can you do about it? Apart from move

peachyfox · 30/03/2009 13:49

Tee i'm a terrible insomniac and have been since childhood. What works for me is to get up, turning on minimum lights, eating something like a banana or oat biscuit, taking a little paracetamol (like 100g) and going back to bed. If I can be bothered I chuck some milk with honey in it in the microwave till it's warm and drink that.

Not high science I know, but I've tried all the sleeping pills around and none of them can keep me asleep past 4am.

I really feel your pain, I often feel like bludgeoning DP during the night as he sleeps so beautifully, like he was extracting every last bit of enjoyment from his slumber, with a face of such innocence it makes me want to scream.

JJ I don't know what a scrape is, but you had to lie on your back so I'm getting the idea. From all the posts of the last few days I realise I have absolutely no idea what awaits me!

jeanjeannie · 30/03/2009 15:05

peachy thankfully I just had a bog-standard smear. Nothing like making a mountain out of a molehill eh!! I too could bludgeon DP in his sleep...he'd not notice though

jw dunno what we're goin to do...either accept the school no one wants even though it's not even near us...pay....or move Out of 30 pupils new last year - 8 have already been removed by the parents and home schooled. I know a TA there and she said it's a losing battle and at just 5 the boys especially are unbelievable aggresive

Onto a lighter note... I now have to tend to wailing girls as their nap has been rudely halted by DP's pneumatic drill.....oer, they're not happy!

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 30/03/2009 17:08

Hi All sorry I havent been around again.
Yet another busy weekend...and losing an hour may not have affected Alex but it sure as hell affected me....not helped by the fact that we were at a party on Saturday night until 1.30am (adjusted to 2.30)and Alex got me up at 4am and then got up for good at 7.30[yawn]
Tee love your new shoes and bag..sorry about the indigestion..I was fortunate in that I didnt mind Gaviscon I hope your HV or GP prescribe something stronger. Can't help with the sleep much...I just did my yoga/pilates breathing and dropped off before I knew it...now I simply collapse with exhaustion.
JW like the jewellery. Did you mention another meet up on Weds or did I imagine it? If you fancy it I'm free..(got to be back for 2.00 but free until then)
JJsympathy on the schools...I'm lucky in htat we seem to have a dearth of good primary schools here...its the choice of secondarys if he doesnt get into the grammar school that is a worry but a lot can change in 10 yrs so I'm not fretting yet.
bother got to go teach....back later

ladymac · 30/03/2009 17:26

jeanjeannie sorry that you didn't get much of a rest when you had your smear, but how handy to come across an old handbag. Hope it's not too last season How are you feeling by the way? When is Iris' ENT appt? BTW, the upside of having a deaf child is that naps are not disturbed by such trifles as pneumatic drills!

My sweep was a tad uncomfortable to say the least. Think the midwife went in with a dustpan and brush rather than a broom. She says conditions down there are favourable, which is certainly what DH has always thought, and that I'm 1-2cm dilated.

The monitoring was all okay. Heart rate fine and the scan showed excellent fluid levels round the baby. Back to the day unit next tuesday but my plan is to have this baby out by then. Having another sweep on friday and of course DH will be pressed into action again. Really don't want it to come on thursday which is Elizabeth's 2nd birthday so Sod's Law it will arrive then.

Tee2072 · 30/03/2009 17:49

Afternoon all.

Totally killed coworker today when I was asked to double check something of hers and found 2 major errors. evil

Heartburn seems to have eased off. Now just bunged up, but not as badly as poor ermintrude. Hope you got some relief today!!

JJ darn, not a restful smear. But at least you know you're done for another, what is it? 3 years?

ladym I'll be sending labour thoughts your way! Although it might be nice to have both kid's birthdays on the same day...or maybe not.

kaz I think I voted! Site seemed a bit messed up, but I tried.

Good luck tomorrow morning JW.

johnworf · 30/03/2009 17:52

floria wednesday is fine so far with me. I'll confirm with you tomorrow though when we've seen the cardiologist.

I wanna move near to you floria! Schools would be great for K

ladymac you do know that baby will come on Thursday don't you? Glad all is well though

johnworf · 30/03/2009 17:52

Thanks tee!

Tabitha8 · 30/03/2009 18:07

Welcome Rachel. No one is taking any notice of my age (maybe they should?) I'm 43. Midwife said my age shouldn't cause me any problems at all. As I understand it, all placentas start to deteriorate at around week 40. I have to say, I really don't want to go past my due date. I'd like Little Tab out a couple of weeks early. I'm going to try the very hot chilli approach. Then the trampoline.
Good for you, Tee on the coworker.

sissy0928 · 30/03/2009 20:02

Hi ladies, you may be the perfect group for me for some advice?? I'll be 40 this May, and am 6 wks pg as of tomorrow... and not married this time around, but perfecty happy! How do I react when people look at me like my head fell off probably #1 because of my age, and #2 how do I respond when their 1st question is "Are you going to get married?" (If it isn't "Was this planned?")It would be nice to have a positive reaction one of these times...

Tee2072 · 30/03/2009 20:15

Hi sissy!! Congratulations!

If people look at you because of you age, tell them you know women (who are on this thread) who are 45 and have children who are babies!

I think my answer to the other questions would be a raised eyebrow and a very confused look while saying 'why is that any of your business?' With a face like this:

sissy0928 · 30/03/2009 20:37

Thank you Tee!! You made me smile, and I think that is the perfect response!! I needed that from you, so much! Love the face!
