Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

MUM41plus5 · 28/03/2009 16:41

oopps, genuine typo but I do know thats what DH thinks I am when I'm in my sixteens, think its the added boobage does it

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 16:47

mum41 well, I used to be a 4.5 but these are a 5.5. If those shoes are the right side, I'd love to see them!! That's very sweet of you.

Excellent news on the HB ladym! That way you can be on MN the whole time.

hedgepig in the US everyone learns recorder, I think its in 3rd Grade, so around 10 years old? It was great fun and led me to the clarinet and then the oboe and the piano. I haven't played in years, though.

heron22 · 28/03/2009 16:57

hedgepig i am trying to increase my milk supply. i heard that stout helps it. i wonder if true or not? i guess i have to give it a go. i dont like the taste tho! i would prefer baileys on ice

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 19:44

Tee I think it is important for children to have a go at a musical instrument, which is why I am very frustrated with this recorder thing. In Cambs music in schools seems to have been outsourced to this organization who even sent a woodwind tutor into the school (in Jan) to drum up business and then when you express an interest they can't do anything until next Sept, so why bother sending the guy into the school if they have no capacity for lessons?? arggg
Heron I'm not sure on increasing milk supply but I remember Jj and JW discussing fennel? or was it fennelgreek? I'm sure they will be along with pearls of wisdom

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 19:48

Evening all.

So I have continued my 'Tee is a klutz while pregnant' streak by slopping red sauce out of the pot tonight and onto my bump. Cue much cursing and splashing of cold water on my bump. It isn't too bad of a burn but I scared DH to death, and myself as well!

Maybe I am the one who should be wrapped in plastic until this baby is born?

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 19:56

Ouch! Maybe a lovely mummsy apron is what you need?

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 19:58

That's a good idea hedgepig. I'll put it on the shopping list for tomorrow!!

johnworf · 28/03/2009 20:24

hedgepig it's fenugreek capsules from any health food shop. It does work. But you end up sweating out the fenugreek smell and smelling vaguely like an indian restaurant Ah well.

tee you need a bib!! Btw, I always used to burn my bump when I was ironing.

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 20:27

I have just been wibbling the web trying to find a "Mum 2 B apron" but then I found these how fab the 6th & 7th ones down the page.

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 20:28

I knew I had spelt it wrong JW

johnworf · 28/03/2009 20:28

Btw heron if your milk supply starts to go, then your GP/MW can get you some domperidone. This thread on MN gives a few viewpoints on it. It was recommended to me by neonatal staff when my milk started to go but I never had it from my GP. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/571012-has-anyone-used-domperidone-or-know-anything-a bout-it.

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 20:31

those are neat hedgepig!

jeanjeannie · 28/03/2009 20:47

Evening ladies.

heron not sure about milk supply supplements....although I did try fenugreek and as jw says....you sure will smell of it the next morning! I'm currently breastfeeding my almost 10mth old - after a failed attempt with DD1 and the only thing I can find for boosting supply is to put baby to boobies on an almost constant basis. Have to say I was shocked/horrified/amazed at just how much a breastfed baby is preoccupied by food compared to a bottle fed.....I still am Not sure there is any magic potion - it's just supply and demand....but it sure does help if you've got a baby who knows how to do it; a strong suck, good latch and a big appetite tend to make for a good supply!

mum41 awwwww, first tooth for you too - well, not you but Fraser Bless. Still waiting for Verity's top ones...but the two bottom ones gleaming away.

ladymac what fabulous news...a home birth. Gosh - how convienient - you'll be able to tell us what's going on as it happens. And then, once BabyMac is out, you can get on with the chores, perhaps pausing a while to partake of a nice cup of tea and CAKE

My legs ache - really badly. Walked into town and back (the hilly route) and I feel like I did after a half marathon Moi unfit? Nah...you're mistaking me for someone who sits infront of the TV and eats tubes of Pringles..................

peachyfox · 28/03/2009 21:26

hedgepig I love those aprons.. I want the cherry skirt one.

tee oops... you've been a bit in the wars. Baby must think it's being born into the circus what with the somersaults and rings of fire! Glad it wasn't a bad one, burns can be so nasty.

I had a massively lazy day - although I did manage to stagger out to discover our neighbourhood a bit and found a really good fishmoneger so we just had lovely salmon. Salmon's ok for us to eat isn't it?

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 21:34

yes peachy salmon is perfectly fine. In fact highly recommended!

BonzoDoodah · 28/03/2009 23:37

Hi All
sitting here recovering from mammoth shopping day picking up last-minute holiday stuff ...sunglasses, sun screen ... giant knickers from M&S - ah sexy! Heading upstairs to pack in a mo ... woo hoo jetting off to warmer climates tomorrow ... fingers crossed for no rain in Tenerife!

Cirque-du-soleil was fantastic! If it comes around to near any of you I'd highly recommend it. Amazing. This was fantastic - I want one!

Anyway - hope you all are well and that you leave me a trail of breadcrumbs to follow to the next thread when I come back.

BonzoDoodah · 28/03/2009 23:46

heron meant to say - Hi and I don't know why you're worrying about increasing your milk supply (I mean the reason why - not being critical) but the main thing is you need to be getting the baby to feed and feed - as JJ said - get that baby sucking and that stimulates the milk production like nothing else. And try not to "top up" the baby with formula as that will tell your boobs that baby is getting enough as baby won't be feeding as much as they need. (If you need to top up then maybe you could try pumping some milk at other times to get the milk supply going). Good luck with it all. BF is really rewarding if you can do it.

heron22 · 29/03/2009 08:13

about my milksupply, my LO is a big baby, 98th centile, so he eats big too. he has 4 daytime feeds, ie, 7am to 7pm. and 1 night feed. of the daytime feeds, he has 2 breastmilk feeds and the other 2 is SMA. the night feed is SMA.

i will ask GP about domperidone.

the clock has moved forward ! one extra hour of daylight! yipee!

had a funny dream last night, me stomping my feet and saying i want summer now!

we are going back home to australia in jan next year. we have been here for nearly 7 yrs now for DH's work. i am going to miss london for many reasons. but not the weather!

i had my 2 children here so this country will always be special to me
so looking forward to going home though! so this coming winter will be our last one here and then we go to an australian summer!

nice sunny day today

heron22 · 29/03/2009 08:25

bonzo you're not being critical at all . i agree that BF is rewarding. i am doing more for DS2 than i ever did with DS1. it is a lovely feeling knowing that my LO is getting the best milk for him!

johnworf · 29/03/2009 09:01

heron22 as Bonzo said, it might actually be the top up feeds of SMA that are scuppering your supply. Maybe put LO to the breast inbetween feeds to get your supply up.

Hadn't realised you were from down under heron

Beautiful day here with blue skies and a frost. I'm doing the usual today of sunday lunch, picking up (big) children etc etc. I've even remembered to change all of the clocks by an hour

bonzo meant to say I'm really I'd love a holiday now but when I sit down and think of all the stuff we'd need to take then I soon go off it. Def having a holiday (or two) next year though

If the gossips are to be believed, is there another little shrek Rooney on the way?

heron22 · 29/03/2009 09:07

i have moved laptop and breast pump to kitchen and it is so much better. they used to be in the living room and when DS is watching kids tv, i would be watching kids tv too! which is ok for 10 mins!

dont know why i did not think of this before?!

has anyone seen the tv show called dirty sexy money? it is good and a lot of fun!

heron22 · 29/03/2009 09:09

is colleen pregnant?

MUM41plus5 · 29/03/2009 09:29

Morning all
Lovely day here too, blue sky and sunshine, I use my mobile phone as my clock at night and have been knocking an hour off to see what time the boys are waking, wasn't till I came downstairs and realised the clock down here was an hour slower so mobile had automatically gone forward an hour meaning boys had an extra hour of sleep

bonzo sounds lovely, you have a great time I'm with jw the thought of everything needed to take, would need a holiday after the holiday

Tee they are a british size 5, will get a pic up sometime today.

jj our neighbours are in their sixtees and are running the London marathon this year, DH was telling me they were saying for training they run around 19 miles at the weekends and around 7 miles 3 times a week, DH felt very ashamed as he maybe gets the pushbike out twice a year and I walk the school run every day which is about half an hour round trip twice a day so I guess we're not exactly high up there in the fitness stakes either

Ladies....an honest answer now please, we are about to have croissants (have I spelt that correctly ) and would like to know would I be a very bad mother indeed if I was to give DT who are a week off 9 months a little piece of plain croissant ?

heron22 · 29/03/2009 09:51

mum a small piece wont do any harm

MUM41plus5 · 29/03/2009 09:53

Oh dear, too late, I succumed and they had a very small piece, around the size of a fifty pence piece, pre buttering of course ok, burn me at the stake
