Hello everyone - yet another thread. I'm expecting a call anyday soon from ITV - as I imagine we'll be prime candidates for taking over the Loose Women slot when they need a break

So, for anyone interested in joining in with us - just jump in and say Hi - we don't bite - unless you're disguised as a chocolate sponge cake

Ladies..................Take it away

Tee2072 · 27/03/2009 20:17

Apparently due to Child Protection laws, mrsb. Which makes no sense, since the original story was everywhere.

jeanjeannie · 27/03/2009 20:42

Evening all. Not had chance to log on today and then when I tried MN wouldn't opened on my browser I think it's a bit scared of Mozilla at times - just got a load of HTML coding!!

mrsB FIRST TOOTH!!! Awwwww...piccie, piccie - we need a piccie!!

peachy that red robe thing sounds a hoot....sorry but I'd have had to stiffle a laugh. And what's this about staying in bed for a week?! Wow - I don't think i'd have wanted it after the birth....but hell, I'd LOVE it now

Well, DP is still here - not at the lakes with the boys. I felt crap last night - girls were howling for the best part of it and I was monumentally sick too. He decided it wasn't fair to leave me with them as they were both feeling rough and I clearly wasn't perky.

jw I think you on the piano and myself on the flute....all we need is a ukalele playing sex-bomb and we've got ourselves a sort of MN version of Some Like it Hot

OP posts:
johnworf · 27/03/2009 20:54

haha JJ The mental imagery!

Glad to hear the OH took some pity on you and the girls and stayed at home to look after you all. And there was me, sat by the side of the M6 for hours! DD#1 is in the Lakes as we speak and I know for a fact the weather is awful so he's saved himself a cold and wet weekend

K's grizzling in her cot as I type. I really hope she's not caught the cold off DSS (another cold ) I dunno what to do about keeping him away from her.

We're supposed to be off to Blue Planet aquarium tomorrow but if the weather is pants, then the girls won't be playing out. I was hoping to get an hour in at cheshire oaks shopping outlet but hey ho. I did however pick up some fab bargains from Mamas & Papas today. They've got a sale on and the clothes were half price. Marvellous.

Stormfly · 27/03/2009 21:26

Thanks everyone for all your welcomes. I have printed out the list before it disappears into the ether (fast thread this!) so thanks for that too. Haven't told friends or dcs yet so it is nice to have people to share it with.

mrsboogie · 27/03/2009 22:06

evening all

jj glad your OH took pity and stayed - that bug seems to last an awful long time

will deffo take a piccie of the tooth and post!

jw what can you do? its not possible to completely prevent the spread of viruses in the home - you'd drive yourself bonkers trying. All you can do is the obvious - hand washing and not coughing and sneezing around her.

stormfly yep - this thread is a fast mover although we have actually been a bit quieter than usual the last couple of days. Good to have you with us

peachyfox at your doctor - but sounds fab at the same time. This lying in bed for a week thing? best idea I ever heard!!

johnworf · 28/03/2009 07:45

When I had DD#1, I wasn't allowed to be discharged from hospital for 7 days afterwards. They pretty much did everything for her and the first night after she was born, they automatically put her in the nursery and fed her (I woke up and panicked as no baby). I think if you had a CS you had to stay in 10 days. They also provided everything for the baby; nappies, talc, some strange powder to dry up the umbilicus, nighties etc). By the time I had DS#1 3 years later, it'd all gone and they kicked you out as soon as possible. No wonder the NHS was in a bad way but strangely, it was really nice too

K woke during the night last night - unheard of here. Not sure if it's her teeth but she's also sniffling today. Could be a cold or could be a combo of the teeth and cold. She seems ok in herself this morning and she had her milk as usual. May not go out today just in case and keep her home in the warm

Just waiting for the Next online sale to start. Nothing much I want but I've seen a nice going out dress (yes, a laugh, as when do I go anywhere?) that's half price.

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 07:45

Morning all!

peachy your doctor sounds like a trip! And enjoy your week in bed!

JW I agree with mrsb. Unless you're going to wrap her in plastic (like the boy in the bubble!) she is going to be exposed to germs. I think you are doing a fab job keeping her safe!

JJ glad DH stayed home. Sounds like you could use the help! Hope everyone is feeling better today.

Today I am for sure going to buy shoes! And now I have to get to Spec Savers and get the nose piece on my glasses replaced. Weirdly, DH lost the nose piece on his glasses last weekend!

johnworf · 28/03/2009 08:40

Well I'm certainly not going to wrap her in plastic tee however, getting DSS to wash his hands when his blown his nose all over them would help I think I'm on a loop. I keep saying the sames things over and over to him to no avail. I feel a rant coming on today

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 08:51

You rant away JW!!

Maybe you could 'add' it to his routine? I know you have said that routine is very important to someone with Aspergers (which I have no idea how to spell). So could you make it a routine that when he wants to be near K he has to wash his hands first?

I don't know if that would work!

jeanjeannie · 28/03/2009 09:10

Morning all. Yee haaaa-mouse pad is working. Along with not being able to get MN, DP dropped salsa over mouse pad and it's been in chaos for days!!

Crappy night again. I shan't moan, I can can feel all your eyes rolling....and I don't blame you

jw I think you should wrap her in plastic. I can see K now - in her fetching cling film jumpsuit based on a Baby Dior number and for going out I think you should vacuum pack her..... All in pink and lime green....obviously!

tee have fun shoe buying. My feet are like fat pasties since having the girls.

stormfly HELLO! COngrats and lovely to have you along. I did say 'Hello' in my previous post but when I looked it (along with other paragraphs) had gone... So apologies!

Oh, what to do today? Weather is rubbish and because we've all been so ill I can't bear to stay in another moment..

OP posts:
heron22 · 28/03/2009 09:12

hi all, is there any truth in drinking guiness or stout will increase milk production?

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 09:45

I don't know if its true heron but it might be fun to find out!

JJ eyes are not rolling. Just sending you lots of sympathy and empathy! And prayers for a healthy week!

mrsboogie · 28/03/2009 09:52

jj my sympathies

well a god night's sleep was had here Mr D only woke once between 8pm and 8am! probably the best ever.

But today he is deeply miserable and grizzly and his poor auntie is coming to see him after not seeing him for ages. Oh well.

tee Mission New Shoes is Go!

morning to everyone else!

heron22 · 28/03/2009 10:03

hi tee, ur right, it will be fun trying

mrsboogie, wow, waking once only!

the weather is so rubbish here too! i really want to go out for a walk. DS1 says he is staying in all day! DH wants to go back to sleep!

when is the Next online sale?

peachyfox · 28/03/2009 10:06

Morning everyone! I'm having a lovely ersatz London morning eating toast and peanut butter and listening to R4 over the Internet. Quite feel like I'm home. I had a pretty big nights sleep (sorry JJ I know how it feels not to) after getting pretty overwrought last night and am feeling outrageously happy to be pregnant.

Tee i hope you find fab shoes - shopping is . I have to buy a non-stick frying pan and sheets which is much less glamorous.

Yesterday I got fined ?40 on the tube because I hadn't got a ticket. I didn't understand the machine so just got on the train, silly me. The ticket inspector shouted at me but in German, which was a big mistake if he wanted to put his point across. I went a bought a pregnancy skirt in H&M to cheer myself up. Way to budget girl!

stormfly big hello!

MrsB that tooth is a tiny but perfectly formed milestone. Yes, pic please.

johnworf · 28/03/2009 10:16

Next sale started this morning heron

I think it's official grizzle day for everyone - Mr D, JJ, K, myself, all jump aboard the grizzle express

Ouch @ ticket peachy.

K has found that she can rip paper up, and it's a small snack to boot. So much fun and so much paper to rip And mummy's new specs are great to pull off her face too - especially if you can get a handful of hair with the other hand.

FloriaTosca · 28/03/2009 10:26

stormfly hello and welcome
heron Dont know if stout increasing milk production is true (but tee is right it would be fun finding out)but we used to give it to our dog when she was in whelp and feeding her huge litter for the vitamins. I think that fenugreek is supposed to increase milk production.
mrsb Wow! a new tooth and a half decent nights sleep..sorry he is grizzly this morning could another tooth be about to make an appearance?
Tee have a wonderful shoe shopping spree
JJ defiantely no eye rolling here either...I wish I knew of something to help..I hope everything clears up very soon.
JW the piano tuners wassort of right..in that if a young child hears scales on an out of tune piano they learn the wrong relationships between the notes. Snap on the instrument playing...I started on cello and then bassoon and was finally forced to learn piano so play that extremely badlyI let Alex bash away on my electric piano to his hearts content but my old upright is so badly out of tune it is locked up...if he shows interest early I will start teaching him the basics myself...

Tabitha8 · 28/03/2009 11:02

Thanks Ermintrude. The Rubella box on my maternity notes is blank. Hmm. I'll ask next week if that means no immunity and what the risks are now, at 30 weeks' pg.
Triggles I didn't even know that MMR had been around that long. Crikey.

heron22 · 28/03/2009 11:38

will check out Next and be drinking stout while at it

have to go out and brave this weather, need to do grocery shopping!

I need SUMMER! when is it coming???

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 11:50

heron the sun just shone here for about 3 mins, I hope that wasn't the summer! are you having problems with you milk? or just fancy some stout?

Peachy the Dr sounds hmmm Interesting! I like the Idea of the lady who comes to help after the birth. And your LO is due 2 days before Bs birthday.

have we heard from Ladymac lately? maybe she has had the baby?

JJ boo for feeling crap, hurrah for OH for being a splendid bloke.

well done MrD on his tooth

visitors just arrived, got to go

Tee2072 · 28/03/2009 12:36

Back from the great shoe shopping expedition!

These are the shoes. Not the sexiest shoes I've ever bought but very very comfortable and not too ugly! However, my feet went up a size. I knew this could happen during pregnancy, but all of my old shoes still fit, so not sure what's up with that.

Also, today Clark's is having 20% off handbags, so I got this handbag.

I really like the service in Clark's. I will shop there again.

ladymac · 28/03/2009 12:46

Hi all.

No baby here yet, still 2 weeks to go, but I'm having Braxton Hicks like they're going out of fashion and have been madly nesting which is why I've not popped in to say hello.

Very happy because last friday I saw the consultant and she agreed to me having a home birth. Met one of the home birth midwives at the same appt then another one came to the house last saturday to 'book me in'. I thought she'd want to see the bedroom so was down on my hands and knees dusting the skirting board before she arrived and also cleaned the bathroom till it sparkled. DH did the 2 loos. Of course, she didn't want to look around at all. I felt like taking her to show her what a lovely clean bedroom I had after all that effort

I tick all the boxes for home birth except the one that says 'parity 4 or less'. This means I have a increased risk of haemorrhaging after the birth so the consultant has noted it as a contra indication on my notes.

Met more of the home birth team on wednesday at a drop-in session they run in the cafe at a local park. So now I've met 3 out of the 5 midwives in the team. Am going in on monday to the day unit for an hour's monitoring and a scan to make sure the amniotic fluid levels are good. It's also been recommended that I have a sweep then too as my consultant isn't keen on me going much past 40 weeks. Which is fine by me as I'm more than ready to get this baby out. I've been sleeping so badly because of the double whammy of B Hicks and weeing (baby engaged last friday afternoon) and most nights I'm lucky if I get 4 hours. My friend did remind me that Maggie Thatcher ran the country on 4 hours kip a night. No wonder she left it in such a mess.

Have to dash as off to a friend's dd's 2nd party in a while. Big wave to you all from ladymac xx

johnworf · 28/03/2009 14:05

ladymac it's come around so quick your due date. Probably not for you but it has for me From what you've said, does that mean if I had another baby (I can't tell you how many miles tall the letters of the word 'if' would be, but it'd go above clouds), then I'd be risk of bleeding too? Another reason for me to not have another methinks. Anyway, here's hoping that LO makes a safe appearance very soon....at least to inspect the nice clean skirting boards!

Thanks floria for the piano info. I knew I hadn't dreamt it. Can't believe we've had almost parallel lives (musically speaking).

tee I'm a huge Clarks fan so thumbs up to both your choices.

I'm aching all over today so I'm going to flop on the sofa and rest my old, weary bones.

hedgepig · 28/03/2009 15:01

glad you are OK Ladymac and good news on the HB, LOL @ the cleaning I'm sure mws see so many houses in different states they are immune to anything but the worst hovel.

Nice shoes Tee, I like Clarks but the don't do many size 9 so I can't often get anything to fit.

Ermintrude I am impressed with the compulsory recorder lessons at your DCs school. Here I have been trying to get B into the lessons run at school and he can't start until next September! I'm sure he will have forgotten he expressed an interest by then.

MUM41plus5 · 28/03/2009 16:35

jw I remember my mum saying when she had all her children (at home apart from me ) she wasn't aloud to get out of bed and the baby had to remain in a nightshirt similar to the ones they have for babies now in hospital for a week...sounds good to me

omg jj I couldn't imagine anyone on here would roll their eyes at anothers misfortunes

tee glad you had a good shop what size shoe are you? I have a very very comfortable pair of Kangaroos, similar to the ones you have just purchased but not a full shoe over the bridge and are white and brown with a velcro cross over strap (very discreet velcro you'd never know), very handy for loosening as the feet swell, I only had them for the last month or two of my prgnancy and are hardly worn, and were great for the summer days out walking, would be a shame for them not to get used now they are too big, maybe I could put a pic on my profile and if you wanted could post them to you?

mrsb Frasers first tooth came through a few days ago, seemed to take forever but his second is already breaking through so keep an eye out for D's second

miserable weather here too, just taken a 30 mile round trip to our favourite farm shop for cheeses and delicious horseradish jam to have with crackers and wine for tonight, oh dear I said my fourteens yesterday, will be my sexteens soon
