Yet ANOTHER thread. Like it says - those of you who've waved bye bye to 39 come and say Hi to us instead.

We think that 40 is the new 20, cyber cake is the new weight-watchers and older mums rock

So, if you fit that description come and play with us. We like cake, gossip an occasional luke warm debate and a good moan! Oh and we're also very friendly and supportive!

OK everyone.....take it away x

It's been a long time since I've had to think what to call my foofoo to another...but I guess I'll be doing it in a couple of years with Katherine. Problem with having 2 boys and living in a male dominated house - until now

LOL @ burlesque star! Yes it does.

JJ the horny cats in the garden? Or were they horny pussies? I'm turning into Sid James today. Sorry that they woke everyone up. I would have had to go out and either throw something at them or shoo them away. Mind you, our dog was scratching the kitchen door to come out at 5am but ignored him and thought the kitchen would have a nice surprise waiting for me this morning.....however, proved me wrong. He's off for a hair cut and a bath this week as he's looking like a matted old rug with legs

Taken my first poop pill this morning and waiting for the effects to kick in. I've only had porridge with water so shouldn't be too much. Obviously have to rethink my food intake so probably go off to the shops later (wearing a nappy no doubt).

duchesse · 24/02/2009 09:35

Morning ladies- I can't keep up with this thread!

Well, 15+ weeks now, and I reached for my husband's trousers this morning for the first time. Perfect fit...at the moment (he's only a couple or three inches taller than me), although I can see that I may just need to invest in some maternity wear within a couple of weeks. My own trousers were feeling a little constricted of late, especially by evening.

hedgepig · 24/02/2009 09:35

morning how are the bowels JW?
DS1 has taken to calling his wily his peanuts I'm not sure if this is someone at school saying penis which he heard wrong and repeated or if one of the boys in his class actually calls his willy peanuts, how sweet

we are off to try baby yoga this morning heavens only know what that entails, but I have to get out of the house.

ermintrude13 · 24/02/2009 09:46

Morning all

Duchesse we do chat a lot, don't we? When you said you reached for your husband's trousers I thought you meant to take them off him, rather than put them on you. But at 15 wks maybe that's the last thing on your mind . I've inherited lots of my sisters' mat clothes but on the June thread people were recommending H&M and New Look as good places for cheap comfy maternity wear. I'm off to buy bras tomorrow, having waved goodbye to 34C and already being on 36D. Gulp.

hedgepig my boy says peanuts sometimes too. I think it's a mixture of penis and nuts, both of which he knows. It does sound cute.

JW do you think the pills might be placebos that work on fear? You're so worried you'll cack your keks that you're on porridge and water and a low-fat diet. So you'll lose weight anyway and put it down to the tablets. Hey, I think I've just had a marvellous money-spinning idea... . Hope your shopping trip is without incident..

Tee2072 · 24/02/2009 09:55

Is it just me that is worried that JW may start 'giving birth' to cute little fat things with legs as she takes this stuff?

Duchesse I have purchased all my maternity wear from New Look and H&M, as ermintrude said. Fully kitted out for very little money. Oh and some £5 cotton t-shirts from M&S three sizes too big!

Have a nice day all!

jeanjeannie · 24/02/2009 10:02

Isn't it even 10.30am yet! Gawd, this morning is dragging and the milkman hasn't arrived YET...no milk

duchesse I see you're shunning maternity fashion in favour of man's pants - excellent!

jw nice description of your hound! My grandad used to keep dropping toffees onto his sheepdog - poor old Trixie used to have great lumps of fur scissored out of her where he'd give up prizing them out in favour of a good chop! Hope your bum doesn't leak

hedepig I know how you feel - I'd go to Baby bingo at the moment if I thought we'd leave the house with a purpose! Enjoy watching babies do The Warrior and The Cobra

johnworf · 24/02/2009 10:10

hahahahaha. No need to worry ladies. GP said that if you cheat and eat food with fat in it then you'll poo your pants. Apparently if you use it as directed, you won't. No incontinence here as yet so we'll see.

ermintrude I do believe that they aren't placebo's reading the booklet that came with them. The pooing is a side effect of the fat in your gut. The pills inhibit fat binding so body just expels it out. And yes, it works on the premiss that you'll only eat low fat and yes, you'll lose weight. It's that simple! And if you want to look at it one way, the pooing your pants is your punishment - in a funny, or not so funny, kind of way. But, your body just won't absorb it.

Oh it's Tuesday. I've got all the pancake ingredients although I hate actually making the damn things. What a faff. On the upside it's Mistresses and Holby tonight.

DSS is bouncing around wanting his Xbox back on ...I think it'll be back to school tomorrow

Duchesse is it first up, best dressed in your house? Hope your OH doesn't have to make do with your skirts while you have his pants on

johnworf · 24/02/2009 10:12

tee funny you should mention giving birth to cute little fat things with legs......I did actually produce a baby poop when having my 3rd baby. Baby Presses on your back passage as it comes down. I kept shouting 'what is it, what is it?' Meaning a boy or a girl. My ExH said, it's a shit. I think I delivered DS#2 crying with shame

ladymac · 24/02/2009 10:15

jj you need our milkman, who delivers our milk at 4am. Unfortunately I'm often awake to hear him.

Does anyone know if Ranitidine is the only drug for acid reflux you can be given during pregnancy? I'm feeling very low this morning as I had another terrible night with this awful heartburn. I ate nothing after 8pm last night but the acid was still burning at 3am. Trying to sleep sitting up but then I slide down the bed and wake with acid in my mouth and a crick in my neck

Don't really want to waddle to my GP only to be told there's no safe alternative. It doesn't seem to make a difference what I eat either. I got it severely yesterday morning after eating one weetabix and milk.

ladymac · 24/02/2009 10:23

Sorry jw, I'm trying not to laugh at all this poo talk but I just can't help it. Hope you'll be going out in a Tena Lady just in case. Pooing in labour is very common, lots of my friends have done it. Think my bowels are fortunately empty by the pushing stage as one of the first signs of labour for me each time has been having to run to the loo 4 or 5 times with what I shall politely describe as loose motions.

hedgepig · 24/02/2009 10:28

Ladymac i was topping up the Ranitidine with rennies which seemed to work for me.

jeanjeannie · 24/02/2009 10:29

ladymac I had severe heartburn - blood - the lot Ranitidine did work for me and the first GP I saw wouldn't prescribe it - t'was the consultant that finally did. She said it was the only thing as it was the strongest. It's also what they give you before a c-section to calm the acid in the stomach before the op.

HOWEVER....is there a trigger food? For me it was anything wheaty - so bread, pasta etc whereas milk/yoghurt calmed it and that helped the Ranitidine work better. I know milk sends people two ways - good or bad - maybe the weetabix milk combo simply is too much for the drugs to over-ride.

How many are you taking? Make sure you do the full dose. Poor you - it's horrific.

No where's my milk?

OP posts:
ladymac · 24/02/2009 10:31

Thanks hedgepig I tried that the night before last but the Rennies didn't touch it.

mrsboogie · 24/02/2009 10:37

mornin all

jw how indelicate of your XH! tsk. I'm sure the Xenical takes a few days to kick in so there should be no accidents today - also takes a few days to wear off so you can't give yourself little holiday and except to get away with eating a tub of ice cream!

well, nursery is just the best thing ever - Mr D slept soundly for most of the night - we till had the early morning harrumphing but he went back to sleep 'til about 8am.

I just rang the Child Benefit office asking why it has taken 6 months without a word - absolutely no further on after a very unhelpful conversation with a singularly unco-operative young lady. Six months? so what? you'll get it whenever, was the general thrust of the conversation.

ladymac · 24/02/2009 10:38

jj I am wondering about the wheat as I had a particularly wheaty day yesterday - weetabix, a sandwich for lunch and pasta for supper. I had Special K this morning which I think is wheat and rice and it's not so bad. Supposed to be having pancakes later. Not sure I can cook them for everybody else and not have any myself!

ladymac · 24/02/2009 10:40

I'm taking one in the morning and one in the evening - think they're 150mg. It's the recommended dose anyway.

jeanjeannie · 24/02/2009 10:59

ladymac I found cutting out the trigger food before I was going to bed the best thing - seemed to give my body a chance to get through the following day - as i just had to have pasta - but only during the day and not at night.

Maybe try cutting back on the wheat - at least at night...might give you a break.

mrsB WHAH! What is it with people who work in child benefit/tax benefit offices? Keep on plugging away. Ours came through without me even thinking about it particularly. Anyway that's not the point - you can't get your child trust fund money till that comes through and you're technically losing out on an investment - or not as the current finacial situation would have it!

STILL no milk....grrrrrrrr [fuming emoticon]

OP posts:
johnworf · 24/02/2009 11:01

mrsb glad to hear that D had a good sleep - and so did mummy and daddy

Yes, my exH really did say that which is one of the many reasons he's now my ex

Child Benefit office. HMmmmmmm. Obviously got an influx of untrained monkeys doing the clerical work. Really annoys me. Although when I claimed for DLA they were fab and the payment and paperwork went through in a matter of days. C Benefit is notoriously p**s poor though. Still, 6 months is pushing it way too far imho.

ladymac it's sounding to me like the wheat you've been eating that's causing the heartburn. No idea what's best for it though. Sorry dear.

mrsboogie · 24/02/2009 11:25

sorry ladymac I can't help either - a gaviscon tablet sorted me out - never had anything as bad as what you describe

yeah - OH keeps asking me about the child trust thing which is why I have been chasing Child Benefits. Thing is, nothing could be more straightforward, no issues wrt nationality or anything like that. Its only a question of inputting data on a spreadsheet - once they have his birth cert they know its genuine. In the past I can recall reading abut benefit fraudsters putting in multiple claims for non existent children - just by simply making a phone call and no birth certs or anything - how come it takes six months for one genuine claim to be processed? Its a good job I'm not some single mum depending on it to buy a buggy or a cot!

rant over.

I see this Gail Trimble person reckons she is getting all the criticism because she is female - think she might have a point. Saw her last night on UC and she didn't seem at all arrogant or smug to me. As she said herself it doesn't make her a genius - she's just very good at retaining and recalling facts.

MUM41plus5 · 24/02/2009 12:01

Morining, how are we all ?

mrsb excellent on the sleep front

ladymac I suffered with terrible heartburn and reflux too, I also took copious amounts of gaviscon and I agree with jj about the milk, it's different for everyone, but in all my pregnancies I drank a gallon more milk than I would ever dream of normally, just craved it, unfortunatly it had to be full fat but I did find a very large glass before bed and when the heartburn kicked in did make a difference perhaps not for long but as I'm sure you know, every little helps, how long do you have till baby's born?

Gail Trimble hey did you see the discussion on tv this morning.... apparently clever women are less likely to find a husband.... opinion though is thats because they are too clever to do something so dumb as get married
Says it all really, I'm on my third

johnworf · 24/02/2009 12:47

lol@mum41 ! Love your husband comment

I saw UC last night and was expecting more than I got. Not sure what all the fuss was about.

Apparently Jade is ready to go to heaven. Didn't see her with her new hubby though in any of the pics.

Lordy, what has happened to Judy Finnigan over the past 20 years? She's aged so badly. She looks years older than her 60 years.

ermintrude13 · 24/02/2009 12:50

JW still LOL @ both your poo stories. My friend took her DH and best friend into her first labour(would any of youse take a friend in?) and was straining and panting and rocking on all fours while DH talked to her and BF massaged her back. She felt something happening and asked BF to look to see if the baby was coming. The BF looked, then whispered something to the MW who came along and said - Let's give you a little wipe down, shall we? and she realised she'd pooed and was still apologising to BF when the actual baby came out..

ladymac I'm still on the Gaviscon liquid. Foul but does the trick for me. Remegel tablets aren't bad but not as strong as Ranatidine. I find milky drinks etc. increase my catarrh and make vomiting more likely . Don't know what to suggest I'm afraid.

mrsb never had a prob with Child Benefit, came through about a month or 2 after each birth. The woman you spoke to sounds absolutely rubbish - as you say, how hard a job is it to fill in a few details on a databse?

I know someone who works in Internal Fraud at HMRC (there's a lot of it about) and one guy had changed the CB details of hundreds of women so that their records had all their DC's birth dates and their addresses on but HIS bank account number. It's all automated, so every month loads of peoples' CB was being paid to him and it took months of people complaining about not getting it before they caught him. Apparently that can't happen again...

MUM41 LOL@ the intelligent women avoiding marriage. They could have a point

jeanjeannie · 24/02/2009 12:55

mum41 I must be a blinkin genius - I've never been married

I quite liked old Trimble - she's the sort of gal I like to have on a pub quiz team. She's sort of a more boffin version of the people on The Eggheads. Thing is - can she do the weekly shop, cross the road and change a nappy? Pah - there's no substitute for common sense! I noticed one article was keen to point out she does have a Boyfriend! What's the betting she'll end up presenting something about history on one of those marginally interesting Open Uni programmes? She reminds me of a younger, slighty better looking version of that Nun - Wendy something or other...

mrsB do they still have D's original birth cert then? Have they sent all that back? Bunch of loons the lot of them.

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 24/02/2009 13:15

no they sent it back after abut a week jj - I rang once before after about three months and they said "oh yeah its on the system here - we'll get back to yu if we need any more info" three months later she said the same thing. It's outrageous, it really is. It is quite simply a matter of putting him on a database and setting up a bacs payment and whatever fraud checks they do Shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks. There can't be that many babies being born that there is a six month backlog. Think I'm going to have to complain.

Clearly I am also a genius as I have never been married either! Not that you'd know it form some of the blokes I have been with

MUM41plus5 · 24/02/2009 13:17

ermintrude Aahh, I said clever, not intelligent, there is a difference apparently and I much prefer the other theory... its because men prefer intelligent women as opposed to clever so not so put out I'm on number three just wish I hadn't waited till number three before choosing an intelligent husband

mrs is there an ombudsman or another way of getting your cb looked into?
