Come join our merry (talkative) band of ladies who lunch - feel sick - are getting fatter - sleep deprived or run off their feet with babies! Some of us suffer all of the above - while trying to retain an air of calm and mystery

All we ask is you play nicely, eat cake and indulge in the occasional gossip and moan about our ills....or anything else that we can think of.

We're like grumpy old women....only not so grumpy...

BonzoDoodah · 11/02/2009 23:40

phew almost caught up again.
You were all talking about preserving identity ... well I don't mind (want to avoid nutters so not directly linking) but if you fancy a read and a nosey at a photo of me and sprog then go tohere and I'm probably still No1 story.
Trees are still standing (for now) although I get jittery when I hear a revving noise.

Not too impressed with my photo tho' as the nice photographer man emailed me some of the photos - and the first one opened up really large so I could only see a whisp of very grey hair at the top ... thought it was DH until I zoomed out and it was ME! Eeek! Am going to have my "natural sun-kissed highlights" re-done on Saturday as a matter of urgency!

Neddie · 12/02/2009 07:27

JJ I could use Lars but their daddy already goes by that name!

johnworf · 12/02/2009 08:10

How exotic neddie!

bonzo nice to see someone I know in the local rag Think you look absolutely fine in the pic, personally. So you're a cheadle hulme wallah? That used to be my neck of the woods (kind of) I used to live in Adswood many, many, many, years ago (about 30) when it wasn't too bad a place. I do believe over the years that it's not so nice so had a lucky escape.

I'll send your regards to my trees bonzo Actually I do like them very much and it almost pained me to have one of them cut down but it just wasn't fair on the rest of the garden. It was almost complete shade in the height of summer

mrsb awaiting report and update on how young Mr D faired last night. I crossed my fingers and toes all night for you

jeanjeannie · 12/02/2009 08:58

bonzo I think you look FAB! And your DD looks gorgeous Hahaha you weren't expecting to end up in the local paper when you woke up that morning eh! Well, darn good for you and I'm getting my hair done on Sat too!

neddie ah, I polished my crystal ball yesterday - good to see it's working well! I could fancy a chap called Lars...

jw hope all goes well today with your raft of appointments. We're off to soft play place this morning and then having our elderly lady friend over.

Verity decided to snatch food off our plates last night and had two strips of roasted parsnip and a great hunk of sweet potato - so she slept quite well. Her top teeth are bothering her and munching on stuff seems to do the trick!

Oh and I got an appointment with the pre-school yesterday - may have left it too late Looks like lots of the people in the catchment have dropped private school and so this year is the first time they've been over-subscribed..Ggggrrr. We're doing the forms tomorrow as they were very open that they do work on a favoured basis if you're at the pre-school - even though it's technically illegal!!!! Oh and we were advised to put Verity down NOW - so anyone in a quandry - think about it NOW!!!

Oh yes mrsB how did it go last night? Hope you guys got some sleep

johnworf · 12/02/2009 09:16

JJ we can't put K's name down until the term before she starts. They simply won't let you! However, not sure how subscribed it is so need to check it out. If she can't go to the school of choice, then it's the local county primary where DSS goes or the jewish school up the road.....I feel they won't take her though

I'm having my hair done on Sunday ! My hairdresser is jewish so doesn't open on a Saturday. So looking forward to having a nice cut

Tee2072 · 12/02/2009 09:29

Morning all.

Had such a bad night and woke up to cold symptoms and a sinus headache. Managed to drag my ass to work, but may not be here very long.

bonzo nice pic! You're famous!

Mrsb how was your night? Hope it was better.

JW have fun at the hospital today. Hope K gets a clean bill of health and such.

JJ can I come to the soft play area today? I think I could use some soft playing.

Can I also just ask why is that on the days I feel like total crap my boss hands me 30 pages of legalise to type? If I see the word 'forthwith' or 'hereto' one more time....

ermintrude13 · 12/02/2009 09:30

bonzo you've managed exactly the right Concerned Pregnant Mother expression for that pic - I'd have done an inane smile or a big frown and looked like a nutcase. I can't see any grey, you look great!

JJ how mad that attendance at the pre-school isn't one of the factors in your favour for the primary of your choice - I'm sure that here there are some schools whereby the points in favour go: catchment, having a sibling at the school and attendance at pre-school - that's before they start choosing on the basis of what car you drive or whether your house has UPVC windows.

Must sort out hair cut and highlights, it's all getting a bit mousey here.

BonzoDoodah · 12/02/2009 09:32

jw ...Adswood 30 years ago .... I really think we'll have met! Is your email option enabled?

BonzoDoodah · 12/02/2009 09:49

jw oh pigs bum they charge £5 to let me tell you my email address. Grrr. Ah ... [lightbulb emoticon] my full name no spaces (from the newspaper article) at hotmail uk gottit?

johnworf · 12/02/2009 09:54

aye. got it bonzo

are you on facebook?

johnworf · 12/02/2009 09:57

bonzo got a delivery failure notice so I'm obviously missing something

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 10:00

Morning

mrsb how was last night, still no word from you, hoping thats because it went that well you're all still cathing up on that long needed sleep

jw hope you don't have the icy road conditions like we have here for your jam packed day, don't like to think of anyone driving in this, walking the school run today was a little like a scene from dancing on ice
Mind you at least it covers and freezes the blo..y dog poo (does anyone else hate that) don't get me wrong I'm a former dog owner myself but please clean up after your dogs.

neddie yes, pics, very impressed I had my boys at 37 weeks 7lb 1oz and 5lb 13oz so lets hope you too have a long way to go, keep them cooking

jj I see you have Fraser as one of your favorite boys names we struggled with boys names, had 2 girls names no problem, 2 of my favorites Isobel and esme

johnworf · 12/02/2009 10:35

mum41 another fav name there for me; Isobel. Again, can't have Isobel Stell...as bad as Stella Stell and in league with aforementioned Pippa Stell.

No ice here just a light frost. Chilly outdoors and pleased that scand bonnet will cover all for our trips out this afternoon.

Am most annoyed with DH. His sister has rung twice today whilst he was busy and before he rang her back I said 'if she wants any running around done today, she can whistle as we're busy'. Guess where he is now? Clue; not here. Am furious with him.

bonzo you can find me on facebook under Lisa stell.

mrsboogie · 12/02/2009 10:40

ooohh mum41 lovely names - I have always had Isobel at the top of my list.

Well, last night was much the same as the night before night in terms of wakings but because we had gone to bed earlier than normal I feel a bit better than I did yesterday. Didn't report in sooner as I was busy stuffing the little man with baby rice and banana and doing the washing up from last night as I was too tired to do it then. I would be totally relaxed about the whole thing it but for the fact that he has recently been worse and I am back at work on Monday and I fee he really isn't getting enough calories in during the day.

Oh yes I was going to say if aby of the new ladies are on facebook do let us know as a few of us are already friends on there.

jw hope all goes well - is the jab for bronchiolitis K is having?

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 10:46

he he jw see what you mean, we quite liked Broden but with a surname of Brodie, well speaks for itself

Esme would have been pronounced as Esmay, but all irrelavant now as like buses, no boys for 17 years then 2 came along at once and definately no more on the horizon so girls names tucked away for the next life

Tee2072 · 12/02/2009 10:51

I think I've already said this, but you can find me on facebook at tee AT leyser DOT org. Regular formatting, just trying to avoid the spam bots!

duchesse · 12/02/2009 10:52

I can't believe I haven't posted on here for so long that it dropped out of my active list... What happened there? (well, apart from flooding and general bad weather and getting ready to go away for half term next week). Incidentally, what is the collective view on skiing at 14 weeks of pregnancy? Assuming that one would only be doing easy runs. I may be mad but I think I'll be fine if a little out of breath at that altitude. I am a pretty experienced skier. Again, booking the ski holiday back in September was just bound to make sure I got pregnant. I ought to market it: First, give away all baby equipment and clothes (tick, finished early October). Second, book totally unsuitable holiday (tick, finished early September).

Ah well, I can always stay tucked up next to fire in the hotel with a good book...

BonzoDoodah · 12/02/2009 10:55

jw that's coz I'm thick and it's com not uk but now due to an MSN virus work have put a blovk on hotmail so I've put my other one in my profile for half an hour

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 10:57

Ooohhh mrsb was really hoping next stage formula may have helped, poor you.
Its hard isn't it to know what to do, when my 2 older girls were weaning it was the norm to start at around 3 months, even when I had my last daughter it was the norm to start at 4 months.
we began weaning the boys at around 5 and 1/2 months and having waited that bit longer we did find that they took to it really quickly, by around 6 months they were having 2 meals a day plus a snack and for the last few weeks they have 3 meals a day.
you had D in September last year? so he would now be around 5 months, please correct me if I'm wrong there I think he will let you know what and when he needs more and probably won't be too long now, like was said earlier he will be worn out with nursery, grandparents etc and hopefully that will build up an appetite too.
I know how you feel, I just cannot function without at least 6 hours sleep, I do hope it gets easier next week

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 11:02

duchesse lucky you
All I could manage would be a little apre ski. (apre?) oh well you know what I mean

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 11:02

The food, drink and log fire

johnworf · 12/02/2009 11:07

*apres??

Picked up your email addy bonzo so will give this one a try.

duchesse · 12/02/2009 11:10

< ponces in with fancy Canadian keyboard and pedantic attitude >

après =after

après ski= after ski

MUM41plus5 · 12/02/2009 11:13

apres, yes thats the one.
Never done it let alone spell it, oh woe is me, what a sheltered life I must lead
