The old thread was getting impossibly slow on my computer, so decided that it was time to create a new one with hopefully Rah and Ready joining us, and with a whole new due date list.....

so MrsM, Momwi - come and start the list and hopefully Rah and Ready will come here now too!!!!!

I am so excited that the temp buddies are back together again, can you tell?!?!?!?

Hi all

City good to hear from you. Hope all is well apart fromhaving to work.

Not sure whether itold you all that was having toby's hearing checked as still saying nothing but they said nothing wrong with his hearing apart from having a coke currently. Hopefully with summer coming his colds will dry up and he'll start forming more words (any words would be a start!!!).

Right must get some stuff done. DH is away again this week and really feeling it. Only got 3 weeks when gets back before he's moving. . My fault though I knew what I was marrying into!!

Greedy great news on the work situation. I'm sure it will work outfine. At least you know you'll be stillnliving there!!

I need to get some enthusiam back for my reflexology course. It is finding the time to study which I'm finding hard and getting other people to give me their feet to practise on

hi there

fettle- Dex can only say 'mummy' properly- which he says about a million times a day- about everything! Otherwise he just grunts a lot. my HV said dont worry until they are 2.
I'm sure Toby will start babbling away soon.

greedy- so you selling your current house? Or starting a property empire? Hope the new work premises go well- where are they? Good location?

I am thinking about doing an NCT antenatal training course- it takes 2 years and then you can run your own antenatal courses. I need to contact my local NCT about funding first- but I'm actually getting quite excited about the idea (was sent the training blurb already).

BTW did I say we have got chickens? Three of the pesky blighters pooing all over my garden! Dex loves them!

Right lots of love to all- gotta go find DS1 he is out playing football somewhere...

greedygreedyguzzler · 20/05/2009 18:12

honey - we were thinking about moving house, but the house we like is owned by an alcoholic who has been in prison and the house is a complete state and anyway we put in an offer last week and havent heard anything back, so i guess she isnt that bothered about selling. it seemed like a good plan but i dont think it will actually happen.
my new work premises are quite good. hoping to have my own little complementary health clinic. found all the therapists, but lots of problems with the lease at the moment so not sure what is happening. its all very stressful and its all i can think about at the mo.

being an nct teacher sounds great!! one of my friends does it actually and one of the mums in ellis' class and i think they both said its hard work doing the training but they love it now. good luck! you will be great at it im sure.

home alone AGAIN tonight!!! dh is in slovakia of all places. feel like a single mum sometimes!

better go and bath my filthy children anyway!

t'ra!!!

p.s. my sis has got a lovely big bump now!!!! she is 27 wks already!!!

fettle · 20/05/2009 20:11

greedy - your clinic sounds great. Hope the lease sorts itself out. I'd like to do something like that if I qualify!!!

Ps I'm feeling like a single mum at mo too. Really font know how they cope. Suppose ihave to get used to it again. Luckily DH home tom eve for at least 3 weeks before he goes again.

Honey - thanks for reassurance re toby talking. I think he is being compared to a very clear articulate elder sister who was speaking by 14 months!

Xxx

honeyapple · 20/05/2009 20:11

thanks greedy . I am going to send an email to my local NCT tonight about it- strike while the irons hot! Or else it will be another 'idea' that never gets anywhere...

I've had a really sh*t evening tonight with DS1 (on my own again too). He makes me so cross- find it really hard to stay calm and end up saying something horrid to him . He wanted to go out and play but I said he couldnt until he had done his homework- so then he does this really rubbish bit of work as quick as possible just so he can go out- I say it's not good enough and he's not going out until he does it properly- anyway it all desended into shouting and door slamming and object throwing (him not me!) Feel like he doesnt respect me and dont know what to do about it! Ah you lucky ladies with only small wee babies to worry about!
Dex is a breeze in comparision! Give me 10 toddlers for one grumpy 10 year old any day!

x

honeyapple · 20/05/2009 20:13

crossed with you fettle- my DD was also talking loads by this age- never mind!

fettle · 20/05/2009 20:19

Crossed honey! I have days like that with DD. Normally when had long tiring day. Say some awful things to her. Cue lots of screaming and crying by both of us!!! Don't blame yourself. Especially if DH is away. Not fun being on your own and you have to cope with everything so bound to be more intolerant. What I tell myself but doesn't male me feel any less guilty about it all later! I really have to remember that she is only 5 still and it us not her fault daddy is away. I expect so much from her when it is just us as toby needs me more

Oops gone on. Given in to drinking on my own and think I poured too much rum in. Feel quite squiffy!!

Nct training sounds gd. If I'd heard if it before starting my course I would have seriously thought about it!

Xxx

Chooster · 21/05/2009 13:02

Great to hear that so many on here are getting on and doing new things - it really gets me thinking! Great idea about the NCT course honey - you'd be great at it and LOADs of experience to share. And I'd LOVE to donate my feet to your training fettle! Are you finding more time to get your work done? Fingers crossed your plans work out greedy? Having your own practice would be brilliant . I'd love to do something else... Being an IT project manager was never on my list of ambitions when I was a teenager . But it just pays too well to leave proactively. Bring on those redundancies .

I know DS1 is only 5 (5 last Tuesday!) but I also get cross (irrationally cross) sometimes. It really upsets me because he really is such a lovely sensitive boy but he does have 5yr old tendancies and doesn't listen, picks on his brother etc... And if I'm not in the mood I find it really hard sometimes to keep my temper in check. Hope DS1 comes round and he gets a bit easier to be around Honey.

Right, need to go and try to sort things for the party bags for DS1's party on Sunday...

By the way, re: speaking. Theo has been really slow for speaking (even slower than Max) but very recently he's really taken to it and says really random things now, he's probably got about 30 words. He's probably still behind girls of the same age but he's catching up.

iamamummy · 21/05/2009 13:26

hello ladies

so many of you are on your own without your dhs! i dont think i could actually cope more than one night on my own, ds is constantly demanding and always wants attention, playing with, feeding etc etc but i really enjoy it its just night work mixed with all of that takes its toll!

greedy - i hope the new practice sorts itself out for you.

honey - so of you having chickens!! i would love to have a few in my garden but dp point blank refuses so i made him settle for a guinea pig good for you going for the NCT course!

fettle - shame i am not closer as i would happily put my name down on your client list - i LOVE having reflexology!

chooster - hope maxs party goes well, i am having a big birthday bash at my house in 3 weeks for myself and starting to wonder if it was a big mistake - so much to do and soooo many people coming!

all ok here, oscar has started using his fork and spoon and amazingly he is coping very well with minimal mess! he can even manage spaghetti hoops!! im so proud of the way he is progressing lately he seems to understand so much and takes so much in. i ask him to get me a bag of crisps and he does, fetch his shoes, pick up something - my own personal slave ....im so cruel!!

seaside72 · 21/05/2009 22:45

Hi all

I'll be joining the single mums club the week after next too. DH going abroad for work again-I have to say I am fine with a few days but when it gets to being more than 5/6 days it is really hard but I guess you just have to get on with it don't you?! Actually I find myself going to bed at about 9.30pm when I am alone as the evenings just seem to long and I need the sleep to deal with Cassius 24/7

Well done Oscar for using his spoon and fork - Cassius is only just mastering the spoon and it is VERY messy! He cannot seem to get it to his mouth without turning it upside down so the only meals that work are sticky ones!

As for talking - I am not sure we have any "words" yet but he does nod and say "yeh" when I ask him questions. He is a brilliant slave as well He knows how to close the fridge door, get his shoes and socks, take anything to Daddy in his office, get a book, get a teddy etc etc. It's great fun! He is 16 months now mad isn't it?!

greedy - your new practice sounds fantastic - how exciting sounds like quite a big expansion!

I think I can be the same re being a cross mummy honey & Chooster I have to say I am quite impatient and cannot tolerate whinging but sometimes I feel really guilty for being so unsympathetic?

Good luck with the NCT honeyapple - i reckon you will be perfect for that

fettle - my friend is a speech therapist specialising in kids and her own DS2 did not start speaking/saying anything recognisable until he was 2 - she was not worried about it in the slightest, even though her DS1 had verbal diaorrhea by the time he was 14 months. She said it is very common for 2nd children to speak much later as they have their siblings to communicate for them/ their world is set up already iykwim?

I have just got some new toddler instruction manuals from Amazon as I am feeling a bit lost with discipline etc - "Bringing up Boys" is really interesting.

lovely to see cityangel [waves]

hope you have a fab holiday ready

Lottie - hope all is well and you have not been rootling what is your due date?? I am sure you must be Jan - we love our Jan babies here !!

Hope MrsMc is doing well.

Hi everyone else I have missed, off to bed now

MrsMcJnr · 23/05/2009 22:32

Hey ladies sorry for being AWOL so long. All fine here, 38+2 and measuring big but panicking as DH has had a tummy bug for a week and is very run down, baby better not arrive for at least a week!

Rainbowdays ? congratulations on that lovely rollercoaster again thanks for helping me with the Strep B worries too

Chooster ? so you did get my email how are you?

Lottie ? fabulous news

Scorpio ? you too

Greedy, Ready, Honeyapple, IamMummy, Fettle, Seaside ? how are you all???

honeyapple · 24/05/2009 12:08

mrs- blimey can't believe you are so close to meeting baby number 2! Hope DH is better soon and doesnt pass it on to you. How big was DS when he was born? I think it is pretty normal for subsequent babies to be bigger. DD was- but also she was easier to push out! Good luck x

seaside- good to hear from you. x

greedygreedyguzzler · 24/05/2009 21:07

oh my god mrs! cant believe how close you are!! seems like only yesterday that you were ttc no.1 and thinking you were never going to be a mum! now you will be a mother of two! good luck with everything. hope xavier gets better soon.

honey - i am dreading the children getting older because i know i will have some real battles with them too. dont tell me boys are bad too! i always thought boys were so much easier than girls, i was relying on ellis being no problem and then having my battles with the girls! if it makes you feel any better, i think that is the first time i have ever heard you really moan about any of your children, so you are obviously doing something right. i feel like i do nothing but moan about how much they drive me mad!

where is bodders by the way!!??

greedygreedyguzzler · 24/05/2009 21:17

sorry mrs! misread your post. hope dh gets better soon!

Chooster · 25/05/2009 15:00

Hi! Yeah, got your mail MrsMc - its on my work e-mail and I've been too busy to sit and do a nice long reply when I'm in the office . I will do it this week though - should be a bit quieter, especially now DS1's parties are over with. He had his main party with his nursery pals yesterday and it went really really well. It was at a farm that has trampolines, sand pits, tractor rides, soft play... oh and animals! . The weather was just perfect for us and the boys had a great time, although keeping track of 14 boys (and 1 girl!) was a bit taxing. Even though most of the mums stayed, it still felt lke herding sheep.

How is DH now MrsMc? Hope he's doing better!?

Hi everyone, going to head off and make a start on the thank you cards - Thanks for Max's card by the way Mrs!).

Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday

RahRah1 · 25/05/2009 22:48

Hi all

Thought I would pop on and say hello!

35+4 weeks here.

Mrs wow ur a couple of weeks ahead of me... hope you hang in there for your dh to feel better.

My husband is now on a drinking ban after two drinking sessions this weekend alone. He fell asleep yesterday and I could not wake him for love nor money! Useless! would not of been impressed if I had gone into labour!

Im 3/5ths engaged now, so hopefully she is all in place for a nice delivery.

I go for a CTG every Tues and Fri now, so being monitored closely.

Tried reading through the thread but Ive missed loads... hubbie is pestering me too, so better go... Lots of love to everyone

XXXXX

honeyapple · 26/05/2009 10:33

rahrah- great to hear from you- so happy- wow really near to holding your baby

rainbowdays · 26/05/2009 17:47

Rah - I hope you have a better success on your dh's drinking ban than I did!!!! When I was 38 weeks with dd, my dh and his parents (then living next door to us) went out for the evening. I had been out painting an old cot earlier in the day, I was feeling great, did not recognise the nesting taking place! I told them, dh was not to drink and to keep his phone near and switched on. Guess what, about two hours later contractions started...... I decided to ring and get them all back only to find my dh's phone out of action...... arggg...... In between the next contractions I tried to locate the telephone number of the place they had all gone to, only to ring and wait for them to be called...... there was no response...... argggg again, all alone with a 15month old asleep, neighbours too far to get too or away. Just trying to decide what to do when the car with my parents-in-law and dh turned up. To say I put them into shock is an understatement. My FIL was left with the 15month old, while my MIL had to drive us (as dh had been drinking!) to the hospital. DD took another 4 days before she dained to actually arrive, but it was an interesting weekend.

Boo!

Sorry i've been AWOL so long...just been throwing myself back into work a bit lately, and as I haven't got any child-care, I have to do it all while Isla is napping and in the evenings, hence not much MN time. I've also started doing a stained glass blog, which seems to take up all my computer time.

I was with my friend whose little boy has the same birthday as Isla today, which made me think about Ready - as I know her due date is also the 9th July - which is what prompted me to post to see how she, and all the other expectant mummies on here are doing... just had a quick scan and see that Mrs is down to her last couple of weeks! Eeek, so exciting!

Any other gossip to report? Anyone else got up the duff since I was last here - Greedy have you gone for no. 4 yet?!

Not much else to report here...Nelly enjoying school and doing well, Isla is a little poppet...can't believe she's going to be 2 in a few weeks!

Hope everyone is well and happy... will try and be a more regular visitor from now on! xx

Bodkin · 26/05/2009 20:08

Ahem, wrong blog address - I've just sent you off to some completely random person...

this is me

RahRah1 · 26/05/2009 21:46

Rainbow... just read ur message to my husband hoping it might strike a cord! I would not of been happy at ur Dh! plus my husband acts like such a burk when he is drunk! Don't think they would be too impressed in the labor ward!

Hello to everyone!!

seaside72 · 26/05/2009 21:58

Yay - Rah - you visited us! So glad to hear all is well and you are getting regular monitoring - do you have a date set yet? (I seem to remember you had talked about being induced early sorry if I have got that totally wrong ) You realise you will have to make sure someone comes on here and tells us the news asap

Can't believe you are so close MrsMc! Hope DH is better asap. You must keep us posted too

Bodders - love your blog and esp LOVE that font of your title - I want it!!! In fact just a general, smarmy "loving your work" would prob be appropriate

Gotta go as have a gaggle of toddlers coming over tomorrow for a play date and need to do some cleaning!

PS Anyone seen/heard from babylove recently?

honeyapple · 27/05/2009 10:02

hi bodders- oooh your blog has made me want to make something! Love the stained glass with the picture of the lttle girl- how do you do it? Draw on the glass? Print something onto the glass? Very cool.

iamamummy · 28/05/2009 13:01

hello ladies

had a terrible week here! SIL asked me to help her with a job last friday so i dropped oscar off at the sitters and made my way, only to smash into a van a couple of miles from the job i was totally distraught! we were in queing traffic and it was stop start for a few miles and i just dont know what happened after that. my car is a mess at the front however the van i hit had a couple of scratches. a house nearby was lovely and took me in and comforted me and then a relative arrived to take me to hospital to be checked and luckily all was ok with baby. other than that all is well

mrs - lovely to hear from you, i hope dh is getting better and is on top form for dd birth!

bodders - i am loving your blog! and i adore your work - i asked dp if we could squeeze some stained glass in somewhere in our extension but i got a swift NO!

rah - lovely to hear from you, cant wait to hear the news of your baby girls arrival!

seaside - hope cassius's playdate went well? i held a daytime NCT homebirth meeting at my house when oscar was 5 months and it was typical of my luck that it was the biggest turnout for months, toddlers, babies and mummies everywhere - i could not chill out i was constantly on guard as they were all little monkeys and into everything!!

housework is calling, love to all xx

greedygreedyguzzler · 28/05/2009 21:32

hello all!

rah lovely to hear from you! cant wait to hear all these birth stories that will be coming up soon. cant believe you are so close now either!

babylove spends all her time on facebook, whoever asked about her, and she seems absolutely fine!!

bodders - good to see you too! i am going to look at your blog in a minute!

been very quiet here the past few days. ellis and kiki went to stay with my mum and dad for 2 nights and i really missed them! the days are so long when its just me and marcy! and im never sure what to do to keep her entertained and fill the days when its just us. the other two do a great jo of entertaining her when they are around and i think i only appreciate that when they're not here!

anyway............off to drink more wine.......oh, sorry, iamamummy.....hope you're ok now...
