Oh the dentist is evil!

Now - Madonna....ooer er! Well, me thinks a metal breast plate is what I'm missing in my wardrobe... She looks OK in those pics - but very, very hard, as though her skin has lost all its plumpness and softeness. Her hair looks very dry too. Wouldn't say no to her thighs

Is her boyfriend called Jesus?

mrsb Oh no, I couldn't be doing with a mooncup - I couldn't get the hang of a diaphram and that just looks like a mini version! Plus, it's got a hemp-wearing, lentil-munching kinda name and that also puts me off. Feel I should have a seventies kaftan on and two plaits in my hair I know if I stepped out wearing one it'd be an embarrassing incident just waiting to happen!

No snow!

mrsboogie · 19/01/2009 16:29

yeah that's how I feel about it too jj

FloriaTosca · 19/01/2009 17:13

Oh Wow! That wedding ermintrude!I've been to some classy dos myself in the past but none spent their money on having that sort of fun (all string quartets and harpists )...we tried to get a Commitments tribute band for ours but they were already booked

I'll add my vote for the sonicare too...I've had one for 3 yrs now and not needed a hygenist appointment ever since (and keep old brush heads for cleaning your`diamond jewellry..nothing brings the sparkle back like it!)

sympathy to those not getting sleep`.. three weeks of teething now has got me looking twice my age!...laryngitis doesnt help either...cough medicines and throat pastilles wont help the weight loss either will they?
got to go ...whinging toddler

jeanjeannie · 19/01/2009 20:01

OOOooo Floria laryngitis sounds horrid

Unfortunately my lack of diamond jewellry means that old toothbrush heads get to work on the bathroom grouting

Having not been married, I've never thought of booking wedding entertainment. If we did it'd probably be the ukulele orchestra of Great Britain... or something of that ilk!

mrsboogie · 19/01/2009 20:08

I think I would absolutely hate to have to plan a wedding. When you see friends agonising over the choice of colour of border on place settings and which type of little box to put the party favours in eeeek . I know you don't ave to do all that malarky but...

Tee2072 · 19/01/2009 20:18

mrsb I did none of that marlarky and had a wonderful wedding. Wasn't too expensive either!

Heartburn has hit with a vengeance tonight. Someone kill me, k?

jeanjeannie · 19/01/2009 20:27

OOoooo tee that was the one thing i suffered from really badly - it's vile

I went to GP (wish I'd gone much sooner) and I got Zantac on prescription. Not called that via the GP but the same thing. SO much nicer than Gaviscon. I found yoghurt helped....although not much.

Hahahah mrsB I'm sooo perplexed by friends who get all het-up over stuff like place settings etc....I find my eyes glaze over and think...it's ONE day of your life....HOW MUCH £££££ !!!!

johnworf · 19/01/2009 20:35

My wedding probably cost under £500 or maybe less. It was me, DH, my 3 DC and MiL and that was it! Bought nice frock from M&S, DH a suit from same place, kitted out the DC and booked a very nice meal for afterwards. DSS didn't want to come as we might kiss and kissing is yucky! Didn't want to force the matter what with the Aspergers etc.

Anyway, there was no fuss (which is just how we like it).

Feel exactly the same way regarding cost of weddings. There are two very swanky bridal shops close by and the dresses in the window (which, btw, do nowt for me) cost £3k How on earth can you justify that for a frock that you wear once? Don't get me started on the fiddly farty things that people insist on having.

JJ like the sound of the ukelele band

I drank a lot of milk for heartburn but downside is it ups your sugar levels. Zantac is ranitidine.

Tee2072 · 19/01/2009 20:38

Well, this is really the first time I've had the heartburn, so I think I'll wait before running to my GP!

My wedding was a bit more than £500, but I did have about 60 guests, including family from the States. My dress was no where near £3k, though! More like $500, which, at that time, was about £250. But it was still pretty frill free, i.e. M&S wedding cake, no photographer other than at the ceremony, basic flowers, like that there.

jeanjeannie · 19/01/2009 20:55

That's the one - Ranitidine....hahaha sounds like a pest control!!! Ratitidine as DP called it

I whole heartedly approved of a £500 nuptials...and frill-free frocks too!

Awww bless DSS....he's got a point....kissy, kissy, smoochy, smoochy.....yuk

johnworf · 19/01/2009 21:00

Zantac is available over the counter nowadays but I'd check with them that it's ok to take when pregnant - I'm pretty sure that it is.

LOL @ kissy kissy. He's not a very emotional person at all so kissing is double yuck!

I didn't have a cake at our wedding. Never even thought about it until now. Ah well. Made up for it x 100 since then

mrsboogie · 19/01/2009 22:02

no cake?

ermintrude13 · 19/01/2009 22:34

Just done a 7-hour round trip to London for a board meeting. I was certainly bored. Am now tired and sharing the indigestion, Tee. Gaviscon works, but the fact it's like drinking peppermint-flavoured mucus doesn't help. I had to take Ranitidine with anti-histamines last year for hayfever - the doc said it helped the absorption and would cure any heartburn as a useful side effect . Didn't need it then!

I didn't realise I didn't like dentists until I had my first extraction as an adult a couple of months ago - 10 wks pregnant, anxious about everything and in agony from an abcess in a much-filled root canal. Took him 45 mins of serious pushing and pulling - I could feel his arm shaking - to get the monstrous tripod out. Bllleuuurgh.

We wed in a register office with just both sets of parents as witnesses, then had an £8 per head buffet and a barn dance in a lovely pub in Kensal Green. A theatre photographer friend took photos at the dance and then everyone came back to our house for drinking and dancing to compilation CASSETTES. It was a hundred years ago.

sarahsmudge · 20/01/2009 07:29

hi everyone, i am new here so please be gentle with me, sorry if I have put this in the wrong place. Im the wrong side of 40 and just recently I've become very broody. My youngest DD is 12 and after she was born I didn't want any more. I think about babies first thing in the morning and even when I am going to sleep at night and for some reason my boobs are doing wierd things. Can anyone help?!

Tee2072 · 20/01/2009 07:45

Morning all.

Whomever said 2nd trimester was easy, never met me. No heartburn today (so far) but really bad nausea. Is it June yet?

Welcome sarahsmudge. Not sure what kind of help you want, but there are plenty of mummies on here who have large age gaps between their children!

johnworf · 20/01/2009 08:38

Yep there are tee. 17 year gap here

johnworf · 20/01/2009 08:53

Weight loss of 1lb taking me to XX 06lbs

Tee2072 · 20/01/2009 09:04

You go JW!!!

johnworf · 20/01/2009 09:20

tee I think everyone's pregnancy is different. In general, the second trimester is the nice 3 months but obviously this isn't the case for everyone. You just have to take it as it comes.

lilibet · 20/01/2009 09:35

Weight gain of 1lb taking me back to where I started

jeanjeannie · 20/01/2009 10:02

Morning all - not weighed myself but then again I have been up half the night and i don't think i can deal with the disappointment yet. Both girls lacklustre and I'm drinking seriously strong coffee

tee nearly June dear!....tells tee* the lies she longs to hear

jw I flip my hat off to you. More weight cast aside like an out-of-work soap star. You are indeed one focused gal...I like that....I'm very

ermintrude Sounds like a cool, budget wedding! I used to live near there hundreds of years ago - Kensal Rise and Queens Park...apparently it's all very chic these days!

Oh cassettes....sigh. Happy Days.

I have awful period pain..grr. I wanted to do so much today and it's not going to happen

BonzoDoodah · 20/01/2009 10:56

Feeling VERY faint here at all your dentist stories. Yuckity Yuck! I did find that Kalms worked wonders for minor things but not an extraction. how brave/nutter are you Eph?

Not sure about Zantac being good for being preggers - and don't buy over the counter as you get it free from the Dr and get the right stuff. I was drinking a 500ml bottle of Gaviscon a fortnight with last preg. The Aniseed flavour is a nice alternative to the mint (for a while) until swallowing aniseed flavoured snot lost its glamour.

mrsboogie · 20/01/2009 11:00

hello all

2lb weight loss here bringing me to 3 in total. And bloody hard work it has been too - although no exercise on account of the dodgy shoulder.

sarahsmudge is there any reason why you can't just go ahead and try to get pregnant? What's the problem? if it's your age - well your only a spring chicken!

johnworf · 20/01/2009 11:48

Ah fecking balderdash. Doing these accounts just makes me want to stick my head in the oven How dull can you get?

Never took zantac, gaviscon or anything like that. Milk did it for me.

Well done to the movers and shakers on the weight front. Take heart lilibet that at least you haven't gained anything which is better than nothing.

JJ thought the girls would have slept like logs last night after swimming y'day. Blimey. 10/10 for stamina but 0/10 for giving mummy a break. And crapola @ period pain. Must admit don't get that since I had children. lol@out of work soap star!

Bored already with Obama tv. Yep, it's history making but do we have to have it on all day...and it's not even started yet! As DH keeps saying, 5pm is shoot the new black president time.....ooh err. Wonder if anyone will have a go?

mrsboogie · 20/01/2009 12:02

I wouldn't like to be the person in charge of his security arrangements - that's a job that'd age you rather quickly!
