Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Afternoon all.

Lilibet now that looks very nice indeed-and I think taking a mate is probably the best idea - they can moan together!

tee I went up - from a 34b - to a 36F I'm now back to a 34dd - and i'm thrilled But the band size was in my case....too much CAKE!!

jw Oh - I saw that little girl and I thought of you and K. It's weird - I looked at that piccie and then looked at your pics of K and it hardly seems possible to believe where she's come from. Such a sad sorry- I'm sure she's a little fighter though and will come through.

How's weaning going BTW? Have to say it's really half-hearted here. Weaning Verity has not been my greatest parenting moment to date She's still very milk-based!

Mind you - we have today changed the car seat - she's completely grown out of her little seat and we weighed her this morning.....in old money she's almost 2 stone

A long, dreary afternoon but I've got a proper cake tin now....so baked cheescake here we come .......*runs to hide in shame....

johnworf · 17/01/2009 15:13

lilibet that place looks lovely. Very envious as I'd love to go somewhere like that. We always did camping in france with my older 3 when they were younger and we've taken friends too. Although they do make friends easily in those places

I unlocked the boxing this morning. Boy does it hurt your arms. Only tried it twice as yet but I'll give it the thumbs up.

Yeah it does seem weird looking at those pics that was K a few months ago. Actually she weighed 1/2 a lb less than that wee lassie when she was born Still, she'll do fine I'm sure with her daddy. It's very sad though all the same.

Wow JJ Verity surely is a little porker! We've begun weaning again under HV's instructions. K likes the pureed muck on the spoon so far. It's just the day after when the bum explodes! Just doing mid day meal so far. Don't want to overload her.

Btw did I say when my HV rocked up last week she wanted to do K's 8 month development check? No way hosè! She would surely have failed it. Just got K's 8 month hearing test appointment through this morning for begining of Feb. Can't believe she'll really be 8 months by then. I'm still going off her corrected age and I forget

Enjoy your cheesecake. Just had a handful of raisins and thought it was xmas again! ha ha

jeanjeannie · 17/01/2009 15:26

Eight months check????? Huh? God I hate all these checks - no wonder there are threads on MN along the lines of..."Is my 7 mnth old behind because he doesn't say 10 words and clap to Ba Ba Black sheep..." Actually, we've not had one check yet...? Think that's because we've been lazy about going to see the HV...eek!

Oh wow - I sooo have Wii envy

Tee2072 · 17/01/2009 16:03

lilibet that looks lovely.

jj I agree that there are way to many checks. I can see myself skipping a few!

The wii does sound fun. Maybe I'll get one, after I give birth.

johnworf · 17/01/2009 16:17

Yeah but she's nowhere near 8 months development wise. She's not even quite 8 months actual age yet...so she's really jumping the gun. Mebbe she wants to do it really early to ensure she fails it?

I must say that I'm in love with the Wii Fit. I do at least 30 minutes a day on it. I've now unlocked Super Hula! which is bleeding hard on the old hips (might need a hip replacement op at this rate). Actually when you hula on the board I reckon it'd give you good stamina for up on top sex. Just need to gather some extra energy at bedtime now

tee the Wii Fit doesn't just have work outs on it...there's yoga too which I'm loving but ooooooh it hurts! I'm finding muscles that have lay dormant for 25 years

Anyone read the PND article on DM website? Reckons it's down to lack of family support. Suppose in my case when I had it years ago that could have been the case. I didn't get any support at all but then again, who does these days?

Just looking at Kate Moss' party shenanigans. Crikey! Stags heads. Pig on a spit. And the b/f in the back of the car with a fag dangling out of his mouth. What was that saying about money, class and buying? Oh, I forget now....

jeanjeannie · 17/01/2009 16:25

Ah - Kate Moss..." you can take the girl outta Croydon - but you can't take Croydon outta the girl" Amazing - if she was a council estate bird she'd have the social workers crawling all over her!

I was gonna say - it's not even 8 months yet!!
Well, according to the internet - baby development sites - Verity is way behind. She can't roll over yet - shows no desire to do so and still HATES being on her front - she wails like a banshee. Do I look bovered? I think she's spending all her energy on her mind - algebra and the like

I've done 20 mins on stepper while DP's out pricing up a job. [smug emoticon] Not sure I can be a*sed to make cheesecake - well, that's 2 inches on the hips wiped off!!

hedgepig · 17/01/2009 16:48

JW i am intrigued what they would do when K failed anyway given that she will catch up eventually?
Interesting article on PND although it looks a bit like to Tories trying to make "family values" political gain out of it. I don't think it is a simple as one thing causing PNDthere were a lot of things going into the melting pot for my PND.

Tee you band size will go up as your rib cage moves out to accommodate the baby. Your cup size will go up more at the end as you milk comes in. But you band size will go down after you have had the baby so you need to take that into account with nursing bras.

I am totally kna**ed I took B to a bowling party this morning, the music was so loud . It was my friends 8yr olds party and I got ended up helping (with O slung over my shoulder) since I was staying (not enough time to go home & back), I am rather pissed off with my mate as she didn't even say thank you. But will I say anything to her ..of course not cos I am British . I also told of one of the girls at the party because she kept pushing the frame thing you roll the balls down in the path of the other children, and now I feel guilty because I was a bit too sharp with her and made her cry ... what and old bag I am

jeanjeannie · 17/01/2009 17:38

Oh hedgepig you nasty, frighting lady and yes, terribly British. I know that feeling. Since Xmas I've not housed one playdate and guess what.....no-one else has offered

Just read the PND thing. Have to say, I was lucky but I remember those day-three-blues kicking in and two weeks on still being there. I did have family help but for me it felt like a total hormonal saturation plus the difficulty/lack of supply/stress over Breast feeding (or rather no being able to) really made things worse. In fact I think the pressure on me to BF (my pressure and social) made me deeply miserale and sad However - with Verity - nothing - not even the day-3 blues. I'm sure if I'd have an zero support over those first few weeks it would have been quite hard to shake off.

Didn't make the cheesecake and better still DP has offered to cook

hedgepig · 17/01/2009 18:48

interesting JJ are you missing the playdates?

jeanjeannie · 17/01/2009 20:22

I am missing the playdates hedgepig and, if I'm honest, I enjoy doing them BUT I think people were assuming they were going to happen It's all part of my (half-hearted) campaign to learn to say NO!

hedgepig · 17/01/2009 20:31

can't you invite yourself around to other peoples because of all the building work going on at you house? It is really cheeky them expection to come to yours all the time

BonzoDoodah · 17/01/2009 21:25

[snivelling at new article on baby Aya .... wipes face with sleeve]

lillibet - that holiday looks fab - hope taking a pal works out.

You've all tempted me to go get on the wii now so I just might ... By the way did I mention that my (odd) dad calls it a Why-Eye (In a Geordie accent) ... it amuses him I suppose.

hedgepig · 17/01/2009 21:44

that's actually quite funny Bonzo

hedgepig · 17/01/2009 21:44

or maybe I am over tired

johnworf · 17/01/2009 22:17

JJ me and DH were discussing us not having other people's kids around as no way will I have them here while K is still quarantined. He thinks that DSS is missing out but guess what?? All the mums know our situation and NOT ONE...yep, not one has offered to have DSS around to theirs. So come the summer they can all piss off when they're stuck and have to work. He thinks I'm being too harsh and that DSS is missing out but as I pointed out, I'm not a child minder when they feel like it and I think I've got enough going on as it is.

Well done to you for you sticking to your guns and it's horrid I think that no one else offers.

hedgepig shame on the woman who had the party for having no manners....

........now I must be tired as I'm starting to sound like the Daily Mail

hedgepig as JJ pointed out, I'm really not that bothered about K getting to milestones as she isn't regarding Verity. They'll do it in their own good time and come the time to go to school they'll be doing pretty much what all the other children will be doing

ermintrude13 · 18/01/2009 14:21

V sad to hear of so many non-mutual playdates and teatime visits - but glad I'm not the only one who sometimes wonders whether anyone else would bother if I didn't. It seems such an obviously good thing to do to take it in turns and then everyone benefits.

Anyway, I'm recovering from the fab wedding of an extremely well-off couple of friends. I only had one glass of champagne despite there being TWO champers receptions - one either side of the ceremony - and half a glass of red with the lovely meal. Then a huge firework display and then the best surprise ever: bride and groom took to the floor at the disco and a backing singer from the live band started going 'ba ba-ba baaa baaa' and we all thought - Aw, True by Spandau Ballet, how sweet - and then the lead singer turned around and lo! it was Tony Hadley. Everyone screamed like girls, including the men, and they played a whole set including Gold and that Barricades one, some more eighties (bit weird to hear him sing Rio by Duran!), Killers, all sorts. Brilliant fun!

I don't think I'll tell anyone on the June thread - mostly too young to know what I'm on about. But you girls will understand. . I have to say, he's wearing well.

Off to B&Q and Sainsbury's to bring us down to earth now.

jeanjeannie · 18/01/2009 15:02

ermintrude that's sooooooo cool!!!! How funny. The newly weds may be minted but they've clearly not lost their sense of style They say money can't buy you love - but, hey, it can buy you the remnants of Spandau Ballet....

jw blimey - send DSS down here...he can play with the cement mixer - the cat - Iris.....he'll have a ball. I know, I can't believe how poor-spirited people are when it comes to kids They just can't put themselves out. Have to say - I'm amazed at how lack-lustre and easily inconvienienced many parents are. So many I know can barely be bothered to do more than one thing a day!! No energy some folk - I'm only just beginning to realise this. OOooo, they won't make old bones as my Nan used to say about lazy, mean people!!

Bad night - Verity awake most of it and Iris threw up all over her bed at 3am Me and DP are moving about in a dream world we're so tired! Verity is also doing that thing where they wail for food and only want a bit....grrrr...!

mrsboogie · 18/01/2009 15:04

oh ermintrude am so

hedgepig · 18/01/2009 15:31

we have just been for a lovely walk and pub lunch (I had chips bad bad bad). It was nice to get out after a morning of DH grumping around looking for his password to the tax return web sit (he did not find it)

ermintrude what a fab wedding it sounds, and you have the advantage of not being hung over today .

JJ poor you and GP with no sleep we are a bit similar here today I seem to recall that 3 months was when It really got hard not having a whole nights sleep last time with Ben.

Tee2072 · 18/01/2009 16:02

ermintrude that is sooo cool! Yeah, don't bother mentioning it on June thread, they'd all probably go 'spandau who?!?'

oh JJ that so sucks. Poor Iris and Verity. And you and DH! Hope tonight is better.

Our big sleeping issue seems to be one of us snoring our heads off and waking the other, mostly me waking DH. All part of the joy of pregnancy I guess!

johnworf · 18/01/2009 16:24

Blimey ermintrude that's really cool. Beats some middle aged medalion man with 'Dave's Disco' down the side of his stuff sounding like Peter Kay doing the 'taxi for Janet' talk over the music! Don't think I've ever been to a super posh wedding like that.

JJ sorry to hear that the girls aren't 100%. Poor Verity. Thought you'd cracked it on the sleep front as well. Is Iris going to be ok or is it a passing 24 hour bug?

hedgepig I wouldn't sweat the chips dear. Much more relaxing to have some rather than feel deprived on a nice family day out

Nothing as exciting here at Worf Towers as in ermintrude's world! Been food shopping this morning which was pretty much the highlight of the day. K's just gobbled up a bowl of slop for her dad. No doubt it'll appear tomorrow up her back DH and DSS went to the park and played football in the biting wind but the girls had the good sense to stay in where it's warm

Finally convinced DH to buy the organic box delivered and now he's priced it up against Sainsbogs and I've done the 'helping the local economy' job on him, he's agreed. Off to spend some money

jeanjeannie · 18/01/2009 20:17

Evening all. WAH!!!! Verity is refusing to do anything but wail and be held - she's had 1 hr sleep since 6am this morning

ermintrude how old was your LO when you tried a bit of controlled crying? If I stuff a nipple (mine, not a bottle or dummy) into her mouth she'll drop off immediately....only to wake about 50 mins later. However, as it is - she's screaming until she makes herself sick! I've clearly got to break that nipple/sleep thing - which I thought I'd done

hedgepig good on you for getting out and making the most of the day. We've all got cabin fever here. I'm sure the lovely walk off-set the chips

Night Night.....

hedgepig · 18/01/2009 20:40

(((HUGS))) JJ ......only 1 hrs sleep she must be overtired. I find it so weird how if they don't sleep enough they get overtired and then can't sleep. hope you get some sleep soon

johnworf · 18/01/2009 20:47

Agree with hedgepig that she's overtired. Sending you lots of sleep wishes for the coming night to all of you. Don't know how you're keeping going on so little sleep though

xx

ermintrude13 · 18/01/2009 22:10

This was the couple whose wedding list was a request for online donations to their 2 favourite charities - what a relief, can you imagine buying something for people who can afford that impressive a 'do'?! It was nice to wake up feeling tired but not hung over.

hedgepig forget the chips, the walk will have helped start working them off.

JJ sorry to hear about the sleep problems, it's the worse thing after a LO being poorly. I imposed the dreaded but thankfully effective cc on my limpet-like DD when she was 8 months old. I'd tried dummies but it was the nipple or nothing and those hourly wakings for another suckle - all night long - really take it out of you . Don't know how long I'd have persevered if it hadn't worked after 3 days, but my goodness, life improved for all of us once it did!

Tee lol at you and DH snoring each other awake. Wait till you've got a baby piglet snuffling in there with you; you'll be able to blame him/her

JW who are you using for your organic box? i go through phases of using them for a few months and then having to have a month or so off to recover from the Ready, Steady, Cook aspect of it - I have to be really in a creative mood to rustle something up with red cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli and a pile of jerusalem artichokes - and then get it down DC's necks! I like Abel and Cole because you can ban things you hate, but there are loads of local - and therefore worthier - box schemes I'm working my way through.

And meant to say, Bonzo, 'why-eye' sounds a lot less daft than 'wee'. I assume Nintendo did some market research on the name and decided that the UK would just have to put up with children nagging 'Mum, I really want a wee'. Like Ikea don't think we'll raise an eyebrow at shelving called things like Spunk and Bra...
