That's fab mrsb!! And weight loss can go either way. You either lose gobs the first weeks, which are usually water and come back, or you lose nothing. Everyone is different!

I just told you know who at June thread that she was beating a dead horse and to leave the damn animal alone already! I'd bet she doesn't understand.

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 13:02

she'll probably demand scientific proof that the horse is dead or else you will have to retract your statement and admit you made it up tee

johnworf · 12/01/2009 13:25

Ok here is what happened........cue spooky music....

I put K's repeat prescription in last Wednesday for her formula milk. 48 hours is the notice the GP surgery requires so I figured from Weds to following Monday was ample.

I went to collect this morning and receptionist told me it had not been done. This was because I'd ordered 6 times and after that I had to see the GP to get it updated on the computer. I told her that a) I had no milk. thanks very much. What were they going to do about it after I gave them plenty of time b) On no accounts was I bringing my child with chronic lung disease to sit in a waiting room full of people who were coughing and spluttering and c) no wonder the poor chap in front of me had to wait until next Thursday to see a doctor as I, and others like me were clogging up the system.

With that she told me that a doctor would be phoning me this afternoon. I told her that was lovely and in the meantime my daughter had no milk. And off I went on my merry way.

DH went up to the surgery after we got back from hospital also to no avail.

Excellent news mrsb on the nursery front.

JJ you obviously tempted fate getting the size 12's down. Put them back and get them out again next week when they least suspect it

So there you have it. Doctors not phoned yet but DH insists he handles it. If I answer it I will most probably get struck off their list as I fully intend to tell them what I think of them (again).

Oh btw, I do have milk. I have lots of cartons stored up in the nuclear bunker in case of emergency. Good job isn't it or we'd have one very starving, unhappy baby.

lilibet · 12/01/2009 13:29

Hello everyone.

What a lot of chat over the weeeknd!!

We went to see Slumdog Millionaire yesterday and it was very, very good. I do think that they are marketing it wrongly tho' - it has an awful lot of violence in it (it isn't a 15 for nothing), and about a third of it is subtitled Hindi. Luckily I knew what I was going to see but I think it could be a shock if you aren't expecing that.

I have decided that it is much harder to diet if you're a veggie (I'm preparing my excuses here!), if you eat out, or go round to a mate's chances are you will be eating cheese. We went to a party on Saturday, there was lasagne, chilli and hot pot for the carnivores and the most gorgeous roquefort and onion tart for me and dh. Pastry and cheese . It was very good

Dd and I are ahving a bit of a competition on the Hula Hooping. I had done 1764 on the 6 minute routine, but she has bettered me with over 1900!! She is 25 years younger tho'!

BonzoDoodah · 12/01/2009 13:31

jw - stupid ruddy surgery - gnash grumble. What a load of beurocracy. Surely that can see the exception is milk not medicines and so will be on a longer term use than say painkillers? Grrrrr.

Ermintrude - EEK! Is that man a sait or his wife the witch from hell??? How utterly unreasonable can you get?
I didn't expect my hubby to get up unless he woke up and wanted to help (like changing nappy). What's the point of two people being awake in the night if one will do? Especially if one has to drive and work the next day?

What I was trying to tell my friend about the night feeding is that the first few times she'll wake hubby up - but after that his body will realise it's normal noise and he'll stay asleep. Then She and the baby can get back to sleep better afterwards having not been so disturbed. Ah well -- I'll leave them to it. Sigh.

BonzoDoodah · 12/01/2009 13:36

I have to tell you all about my little sweetie this morning ...

I'm weaning DD now - almost completely off BF evenings but mornings are tough as first thing in the morning she wants a cuddle and a feed. She was crying for mummy this morning so hubby brought her into our room and she started doing all the "feed me" hand signs.
I ignored her and tried to distract her but she kept saying "mummy peeese ... peeese mummy peeese " and flapping her hand.
I felt like a horrible moo.

Anyway she suddenly perked up and started pointing across the room. So she climbed off the bed and went over to by the wardrobe and then started hauling the L-shaped breastfeeding pillow out of the corner. I haven't used it in about 4 months so was covered in all sorts of stuff being stored junk.
She heaved and hauled until it came out of the corner and then brought it over to me nodding saying "yes! peeease mummy" "yes"
And then shoved it onto my knee and put her head onto it.
how sweet is the girl??? I nearly cried.

Tee2072 · 12/01/2009 13:43

JW I would have been livid. How utterly stupid of the surgery.

Awwww bonzo! She wants a feed!

jeanjeannie · 12/01/2009 13:44

JW WHOAH....WRONG!!!!!!

We had our Nutri-prem on an 'arrangement' on the computer system...saying basically that paediatrician request for milk for two years over-rides GP! GP would phone every 4 months to see there was no change and on we'd go!

tee I'm thrilled weight loss can go either way - but I think jw is right in my case - I was tempting fate looking at my lovely pre-baby clothes

Right - onto the stepper. Oh if only I had a Wii.....or Davina

jeanjeannie · 12/01/2009 13:51

Forgot to say mrsB that's FAB news about the nursery!!!

Hi bonzo oh Lordy that is soooooo utterly sweet! Good to see someone else has a breastfeeding pillow like mine!!!

I'm sorry lilibet nice try....but NO! No veggies allowed to cry into their (full-fat) lasagne here Oh - glad you told me about slumdog - fancy seeing that but DP needs to be warned about language - he hates swearing! He's soooo sensitive for a builder!

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 13:53

awww bonzo how on earth do you resist that??

Kate Winslett - v Gwynnie yes but made me laugh when she "forgot" Angelina - Angelina's gritted smile was funny.

jw FFS! What on earth is the point of making you take up a GP's slot totally unnecessarily? ridiculous.

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 13:55

OMG lilibet your hula'ing scores!!
most I've done is about 200.

/swoons

jeanjeannie · 12/01/2009 14:15

Oh I'm feeling so left out of the Wii talk [sulking emoticon]

**Runs off to badger DP
Can I have a Wii? Can I? Can I?
Can I have a Wii? Can I? Can I?

Can I? Can I? Can I?

I promise I won't ask for anything else ever, ever, ever again......ppppllleeeeeeeeeeasse!

hedgepig · 12/01/2009 14:18

JW I had to smile at your Drs it SO reminds me of the time my bosses Drs receptionist tried to pull the same trick on her, she is a insulin dependent diabetic so when they refused to give her a repet prescn for insulin because she hadn't seem the GP for 6 month (her care is manage by the hosp not the GP) we could overhear her on the phone "So, you are telling me you are refusing to give insulin to a insulin dependent diabetic......" it was a joy to listen to as she cut them to threads . Hopefully your Drs will see sense.

MrsB please don't be dispondent, you have stated to change your eating habit which is the important thing as that will see you through in the long term.

O is really niggly today, most unlike him. Calpol helped a bit but it has worn off and he can't have any more yet.

Tee2072 · 12/01/2009 14:21

Oh, thanks for reminding me, hedgepig. I received a letter from my GPs surgery asking me to come in for a diabetes check, although I have explained, twice, that I am pregnant and seeing a specialist every two weeks and it would be a waist of time to come in now. I have to call and tell them again.

loganberry12 · 12/01/2009 14:23

Hi there just wondering if this is all normal? This is my 5 baby with a huge gap my yongest is 13ears. I am feeling so ill im 7 weeks pregnant . I have no energy at all and im so tired i seem to be sleeping most the time i can. I work full time and have a job where im standing on my feet all day but ive been off work for 3 days and still im knackered. Every day things like getting dressed even seem too much. Everything aches my stomach is painful and my back and i feel so sick all day long. Im constipated to top it all. Is this normal or should i worry? My past pregnancys where plain sailing with none of these symptoms.

hedgepig · 12/01/2009 14:32

Loganberry is was so knackered and scik in the early weeks of this pregnancy and I have a desk job. I was going to bed at 6:30 quite a lot. I thought it was different to my previous pg, but DH thought I was the same just erased it from my memory, so maybe that is a bit to do with it. The aches and pains could be all the ligaments loosening (it starts pretty early) but may be wort checking with your mw or Dr. It sounds a bit like a virus too, so maybe you are just ill?

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 14:38

jw you've gone and done it now - am going mad in Lakeland. Have put the rum truffles into my basket and taken them out again...

ladymac · 12/01/2009 14:46

Hi loganberry poor you. I'm also pregnant with my 5th, not a big gap this time but have a 10 year gap between the 3rd and 4th. I felt so tired from the word go last time around, it didn't help that I wasn't sleeping properly at night. I had no sickness but did have lots of ligament pain last time and this time. It might be worth mentioning all this to your dr. hedgepig might be right that you're actually suffering from something that isn't pregnancy related!

Can I be forward and ask how old you are? And also wish you good luck!

ladymac · 12/01/2009 15:04

Thanks johnworf I was about to do a Lakeland order, have recently had the new catalogue and seen a few things I needed.

Not sure if I'm nesting early but I'm in full on baking mode at the mo. Apologies to all dieters out there but I got Rachel Allen's book for xmas - it's called Bake - and I'm going through it one cake at a time. Our favourites so far are the Dutch Apple Cake and her Blondies, which are like brownies but you make them with white chocolate and peanut butter. I've also gone back to baking bread and I'd forgotten just how good home made bread tastes.

mrsboogie I don't think you should worry too much about the weight not coming off yet. You sound like you've made a terrific start and I'm convinced healthy eating and exercise are the way to go. The lbs will start to shift soon enough.

I'm 27 weeks today and so far I've put on around a stone and a half. Which is the amount I lost last year to fit in to my wedding dress. I'm fed up with people commenting on how big my bump is though. Someone at work said 'ooh, you'll never make it till April' as if a big bump equals premature labour! She tried to soften the blow by saying I didn't look pregnant from behind

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 15:36

gosh now Findus and Land of Leather gone into administration

BonzoDoodah · 12/01/2009 15:44

mrsboogie said ... bonzo how on earth do you resist that??

erm I didn't .... so much for will power from me.

loganberry - if you're on your feet all day no wonder you're shattered. It IS exhausting - I think I forgot just how much, and we're older second time round (and 3rd and 4th) so up to less ... hope you get some rest and it goes away soon.

ScottishMummy · 12/01/2009 15:45

i love findus fishfingers-my junk food of choice

mrsboogie · 12/01/2009 15:49

fishfinger sandwich mmmm...

johnworf · 12/01/2009 16:00

Apparently you can buy ready made fish finger butties as a finger food for buffets from M&S now. Jeez. It'll be pot noodles next!

Ok, milk update. DH went up there about 2pm this today and receptionist gave him prescription without 'saying a single word nor looking at him'. Picked it up from Tesco who had it in their pharmacy. I'm going to make an appointment with my GP and go through this as I'm not having to thrash this out every time she needs milk.

Sorry I've led you astray on the Lakeland spree ! Tis very good though and I love their stuff. Amongst other things I got a roasting rack which I've been after for ages.

So tomorrow is weigh in day? Have I got that right?

I'm going to get one of those big foam hands and wave it in the air like they do on Gladiators everytime another business goes bust (to the tune of Another One Bites the Dust).
