Dh jsut sent me this - I've always loved Eddie Izzard anyway.

bless him

ermintrude13 · 09/01/2009 15:57

Awww, lovely Eddie Izzard! When I was running a theatre company we sub-let some office space to Comedy Store people and one of them had a meeting with Eddie. He, they and I all got in the lift, then he pressed the button with his (quite bitten but nicely pink-nail-varnished) finger and it jammed and wouldn't work.. "Eddie Izzard broke our lift!" I said, in what I thought was a jokey mock-horro sort of way, but he looked terrified and ran out of the building saying "Sorry, sorry." I've felt guilty ever since.

Tee2072 · 09/01/2009 16:04

Hi all!

Sorry been MIA today. Have spent the last two days working on a bugger of a brochure for work. If boss makes one more change, might have to kill him. Slowly. With a spoon.

Sorry about all the lack of sleep for everyone. Haven't been sleeping too well myself this week.

Hope everyone has a lovely restful weekend! We're spending it clearing what will be the baby's room, as landlord has agreed to remove single bed in there and it is buried under a mountain of stuff!

Oh noes, I'm losing a whole storage room!

mrsboogie · 09/01/2009 16:17

oh great, so you told the landlord tee? and presumably he was ok about it all (or you wouldn't be clearing the room) one think you don't have to worry about!

Eddie Izzard is fab! and even more so now!

ladymac your diet advice is sound - its what I am trying to do eat normal amounts but leave out the potatoes, rice, pasta and bread so that there are no excess carbs to be converted to fat - of course there are carbs in veg and fruit but less so.

jeanjeannie · 09/01/2009 17:51

Evening all. ladymac cool diet advice and sounds like it works too! I've just got a load of clothes down from the loft - I can almost get in them - so they are my target! Liver and bacon for dinner tonight - I'm partial to my offal!!

tee yes, what is the official word from le Landlord - does he now the the baby situation? Losing a storage room yet gaining a small cuddly mammal

Love Eddie Izzard. When I lived in London I used to see him about all the time - usually wearing something with a feminine touch about it. My fave outfit was his grey suit with dark pink stilettos poking out of the bottom!

Knackered after play date today - but DP is cooking my offal....I'm thrilled. Wonder if liver is fattening???

mrsboogie · 09/01/2009 17:53

don't think it is jj

Tee2072 · 09/01/2009 17:55

Yes, landlord knows about baby, doesn't seem to care! Whew!

jeanjeannie · 09/01/2009 18:16

WOW - that's fab - TWO bits of good news....tee's landlord is cool about the baby AND Liver isn't fattening!!! HUGE celebrations are in order.....*offal for all those wot want it!

ermintrude13 · 09/01/2009 20:06

Hurrah for Tee's landlord!
Boo for not being able to join you in the liverfest till after this baby is born!

LEO pate is a good way to use liver - my grandad used to cook it and we thought it was a wartime thing but now think he must have remembered it from the Jewish orphanage in which he spent his first 15 yrs but never told anybody about...

You gently fry the liver and onion, add chopped hard boiled egg and whizz it to a coarse pate. Cheap, nutritious, delicious.... but I bet JJ is having hers panfried with marsala

Tee2072 · 09/01/2009 20:13

ermintrude that is my Jewish Grandmother's recipe to a T. Except that make sure you fry the liver and onion in chicken fat! Makes it soooo yummy!

jeanjeannie · 09/01/2009 21:40

Ah - liver was gorgeous. Panfried...why yes!! Not with marsala though but with pancetta and onions

OOOoooo, that pate sounds gorgeous. I think me and Jewish cuisine would get along very well indeed. My dad was bought up in the east end of London in the 20s and he's very adept at making pickled herring and salt beef; recipes that he learned from his Jewish friend's parents. Cor, I just fancy a bit of pickled herring.......and NO, I'm not preggie

mrsboogie · 09/01/2009 22:20

I hate liver - except chicken livers. We had chicken Jalfrezi -and I had no rice or naan - just curry.

Better than nowt I s'pose

Tee2072 · 10/01/2009 08:44

Morning.

Actually mrsb I was investigating curry/Indian food when I went on insulin to see if I could still eat it and most of it is very low fat, low carb, if you're sensible about the rice. And having a bit of rice and na'an won't kill you!

The only exception (and I am not sure what is in Jalfrezi) are the ones made with coconut milk which is like the highest fat milk in the universe!

jeanjeannie · 10/01/2009 09:20

Morning.

Well, may I recommend the curry I had the other night? T'was gorgeous - Bangalore chicken...MMMmmm. Basically it's chicken with lashings of mint, corriander and spinach...OOoo, it was lovely - no fatty gee or coconut milk

Well, tonight ladies I have....*drum roll.....
A NIGHT OUT Off to Henley to celebrate a friend's birthday. Be nice too as this time last year on his birthday we found out that he and his wife had been trying for over two years to have a baby - and there was me - 13 years older on baby number 2! But now they are finally expecting and their LO is due 2 weeks before Verity's first birthday. So I think it'll all be very jolly. Oh and it's tapas - so I can pick carefully!

Plus (does the excitment ever stop?) we're off to a two year old's birthday party.

So what is everyone up to this cold and foggy morning?

Tee2072 · 10/01/2009 09:28

That sounds fun JJ. Me, I am the big party animal who is going grocery shopping and to boots. And then I may round out my fun filled day by cleaning the bathrooms.

I know you're all jealous.

johnworf · 10/01/2009 09:33

ah feckin' hell. This stoopid laptop just ate my rather long post. Again. Sighs.

In essence, JJ have a fab night out. I'm sure you'll try your best

No plans here for the weekend apart from the usual round of cleaning, cooking, washing etc etc. No complaints and pleased that life is back to normal after the festive upset.

DSS at his mother's this weekend so house is lovely and quiet as K and DH are still snoozing.

Been and done the Tesco run this morning at 7am so another job to cross off the list

Managed to pick up some nice Molo tops y'day so got K some little joggers to go with them. Do you find problems with trousers JJ with the nappies? Jeans won't go near her (but I'm not sure I like babies in jeans anyway) and the joggers just about squeeze around her bulk. I mostly put her in a babygro and a cardi these days but I'm trying top and pants for a change.

ermintrude13 · 10/01/2009 10:24

Helloo

DH has just taken DS to footie practice while I force DD to do her homework. We have got her sullen agreement that now is the best time to do it, since this afternoon she has tap, we're all going out to see DH's latest play (he's a theatre director) this evening and then she has a football match tomorrow morning. But by 'eck it takes some enforcement. Had a quick check over the maths in case she asks me about it - but luckily it's just prime and square numbers so within my grasp

Tomato-based curries made with 1tbs veg oil for 4 servings can be v low-cal and low-fat. Chickpeas or black-eyed beans are nice and filling, padded out with cauliflower, peas etc. Not quite as lush as a ghee-rich creamy spicy sauce, but nice all the same, and veg and bean-based dishes form the basis of lots of vegetarian Indian stuff. There must be a Hindi cookbook on the market. For my dinner last night I had a huge peppered rump steak cooked medium-rare, aubergines slathered in pesto and baked with garlic and tomatoes (that's nice on its own) and grilled mushrooms. Have decided that since I'm throwing up every night again I may as well enjoy it on the way down . Oh, and half a glass of red, which I really enjoyed.

V impressed with your early supermarket sweep JW. Have fun shopping Tee, and JJ enjoy both your social events today!

mrsboogie · 10/01/2009 10:27

mornin all

Another late one here as Mr D went to bed late and after a 3am feel slept til 9.30. It's sleep - I don't care what time I get it!

yes tee curry isn't bad at all if you don't go down the takeaway route. I'm off the rice and naan until I see if this approach makes me lose weight - if it works I will go down the moderation route later. If I haven't lost weight when I weigh myself next I will go bonkers as I have been unbelievably disciplined this week.

jw I used to hate jeans on babies too - thought it looked all wrong with a big bulky nappy arse and short legs but they actually look fine on D because ahem. disposable nappies are very thin nowadays so it looks fine. I only put them on him when we re going out though - its baby grows all the way the rest of the time.

Nothing happening here today - catching up on housework that didn't get done when Daddy was at work all week. Just how we like it!

Enjoy your night out jj you deserve it!

jeanjeannie · 10/01/2009 11:18

Well, we should be at the party but no....Iris (having been shrieking half the night) has retired to bed!

jw wow am also impressed by your supermarket venture this morning.

I'm not big on jeans for babies. Reusable nappies aside they just seem so hard and unyeilding. Personally I'm of the babygrow and cardi combo. No mess, easy to change and when you go out all you've got to take is one piece of clothing, as if they have an accident the cardi rarely gets soiled. Otherwise it's two-size larger leggings and popper vests...for posh outtings!

ermintrude you're scaring me....prime and square numbers....???? I'm afraid my maths stops at basic multiplication. I'm going to call on DP for numerical homework - and I'll do the 'fluffy' stuff
Hope your DHs play is good - I'm sure it is!
Am laughing at you enjoying your meal on the way down as it's going to come back up....sorry!

ermintrude13 · 10/01/2009 11:23

JJ, sorry you missed the party. This maths is only Y6 stuff! Am waiting with dread for Pi, binary, and simultaneous equations, all of which I had forgotten - will def hand over to DH then. But just to refresh your memory:

Square numbers - a figure which is made up of a smaller number multiplied by itself eg. 4 is a sq number of 2. Or 7 is the square of 49.

Prime numbers can only be divided by 1 and themselves. 2, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19 etc.

Maybe you can go over it with Iris when she awakes. Never too young to start .

My DS had some v soft elasticated Gap jeans when he was about 6 months but usually they're too scratchy and rigid to be good on a baby with a nappy!

mrsboogie · 10/01/2009 11:32

D's jeans are from Next and are v soft.

ermintrude can we have a quick tutorial on calculus please? - I've forgotten more than I ever knew on that one!

Tee2072 · 10/01/2009 11:37

Yikes! Helping with homework. Glad I won't have to do that for a bit!

Good days shopping, food in to last until Monday. Now I think I'll be lazy the rest of the day...well, maybe give bathrooms a wipe!

Yes JW I am very impressed with the 7am shop. I used to do stuff like that when I lived in California, but around here, nothing is opened that early! Part of city centre living!

Sorry you missed the party JJ. I hope Iris is better now.

jeanjeannie · 10/01/2009 11:43

Hahahaha ermintrude why Thank-you!!

DP (a maths boffin) has just come in and demonstrated square and cube numbers with Verity's toy bricks

mrsboogie · 10/01/2009 12:54

ladies - how do we find each other on facebook without writing our names on here? Have decided to resurrect my facebook which I suspended after a terribly embarrassing incident.

jeanjeannie · 10/01/2009 13:41

Do we not just look up mrsB? Is that not your real name

I think we (I have jw & hedgepig on mine) sort of coded our email addresses on MN and then sent our real names on email.

Oh the girls are sooooo shouty and it's soooo foggy and cold And there's nowt on the telly
