Lully I'm completely with you. I'm 11+6 and have my first scan on the day after tomorrow. Totally paranoid and worried, especially after reading about poor Tinker3

What can we do to take our minds off it??

LullyMummaOfOne · 15/12/2008 14:11

I know its such sad news about Tinker3, hope she is ok.

Well I have a 2.5yr old DS who keeps me busy but whilst im at work he is not here to take my mind off it. My working day feels much longer with this worry.

Think i will have an early night, if i can sleep that is!

And I would say stay away from all pregnancy programmes on telly to keep your mind off things - have you seen how much there has been on about having babies recently? Crazy! Or am I just over sensitive to it at the moment

This is my first pregnancy so no DS's or DD's to keep me busy in the evenings... yet! It's tough to concentrate at work (combination of just thinking about it and also MS, yuck) and then the evenings seem so slow.

I hope it all goes well for you tomorrow - let us know! x

Thasnk Feb08, i will keep you posted. x

Hi Lully I'm a bit late joining in this thread I know but I feel exactly the same. My scan is a week tomorrow (24th), I'm sooooo excited to see my baby on the screen but I'm also terrified of being told that there's nothing there!
Let us know how it goes xxx

heverhoney1 · 16/12/2008 12:41

Just wanted to say good luck I am sure all will be fine. Be sure to tell your sonographer how worried you are. I did and she was FANTASTIC she found the heartbeat really quickly and explained everything as she went along. I cant praise her more than I do!!

feb80 · 16/12/2008 16:02

Eeek I am getting anxious about my scan tomorrow afternoon Lully - any news? Have been thinking of you today...

lastboxoftampons · 16/12/2008 17:26

Hope your scan went well, Lully I just wanted to pop on and say I had a mmc in March of this year at 11+4 (fetus measured 7 weeks). I'm currently 8+4 and had a reassurance scan this morning and all is looking well. While it's not the 12 week and I know that even after this there are no guarantees, I just wanted to add a positive story! Best of luck to you all having scans soon!

feb80 · 16/12/2008 17:32

Thanks Lastbox. Your name makes me chuckle every time!

lastboxoftampons · 16/12/2008 17:37

Pleasure!
My name was an attempt to keep me positive throughout TTC, but I went through A LOT of "last boxes" before finding out about this little one!

herbaceous · 16/12/2008 17:52

I too have my 12-week scan tomorrow. I had one at 10+3, and all was well, but this hasn't stopped me worrying. I did once have a good scan at 10 weeks, and by 12 weeks it had died, so I'm terrified it's going to happen again.

BTW, what happened to tinker? Do I want to know?

LullyMummaOfOne · 17/12/2008 09:40

Hi Ladies, thanks so much for the nice messages. My scan went really well yesterday, they found the heartbeat amost righ away and i saw my bean jumping around, waving and looking very active. My scan made me 12 weeks 5 days yesterday so i guess i am 13 weeks tomorrow with a due date of June 25th!!

Good luck for all those who are waiting for scans, keep me posted with all the good news xx

I am so pleased for you Lully! Congratulations. Hope mine goes as well this afternoon. x

lastboxoftampons · 17/12/2008 10:14

Lully!
Wonderful news! So pleased for you! Congratulations on your little jumping bean! Guess what? You're going to have a baby!

Feb80 and Herby Best of luck today! I'll be thinking of you both. Please come back and report! {{{{{{good scan vibes}}}}}

herbaceous · 17/12/2008 11:56

Hi there

My scan too was great! Lots of jumping, waving, and even lying back with his arms behind his head!

I also had the nuchal fold test, which was on the high side of normal, but I have to wait for the results of the blood test to know if I'm going to need amnio, etc. Next thing to worry about!

lastboxoftampons · 17/12/2008 11:59

Herby
Well done, you!
So pleased for you, that's absolutely wonderful news!!!!!!
Try not to worry about the nuchal fold. It's not diagnostic, and the chances of everything being fine are very very good.

Is it real now?

LullyMummaOfOne · 17/12/2008 13:28

Great news herbaceous! How come they told you the Nuchak fold was low??

The sonographer told me yesterday that they cant say anything about the fluid at the back of the neck by measurements alone. There are a number of factors to consider before they class you as either high risk or low risk.

Try not to worry, easier said than done i know!!

herbaceous · 17/12/2008 13:32

Thanks girls... Apparently if the measurement had been 3mm I'd have been offered CVS straight away, as I'm already high-risk being 43, but it was 2.6mm. I am trying not to worry, but naturally have been doing nothing but googling since I got back to the office!

But now I've seem him/her grooving around, I don't think I could bear to terminate him. I might have amnio, which is safer, just to put my mind at rest, but may well go through the pregnancy whatever the result...

LullyMummaOfOne · 17/12/2008 13:35

I hope you get the result we would all love to see. keep us posted with any news & please stay away from google!! Its our worst enemy!!

herbaceous · 17/12/2008 14:11

Also, (s)he's got a nasal bone, which is a v good sign. Apparently 75% of DS babies have no nasal bone at this stage...

feb80 · 17/12/2008 18:19

Glad all went well herbaceous. Thanks for the good scan vibes Lastbox, looks like they worked... it was wonderful to see proof that my morning sickness wasn't imaginary and that there is a happy and healthy baby 'in there'. He or she even waved and sucked his or her thumb, amazing!

LullyMummaOfOne · 18/12/2008 12:48

Great news Feb80!! Its very exciting now the news is out!! My work have been very quiet since i told them!!

lastboxoftampons · 18/12/2008 13:03

Congrats Feb80 Glad my vibes helped you! That's such wonderful news.

Question for you guys - Did you tell your jobs straight away after your 12 week scan or did you wait until 14 weeks when you were out of your first trimester? I'm not sure I could wait another two weeks!

LullyMummaOfOne · 18/12/2008 14:05

Lastbox, i told my boss when i was 10 weeks as i needed to take time off for bloods & my scan but once i had my scan on Tuesday i came into work on Wed with a big smile on my face and the picture in my hand!! I coulnt wait to tell people!
