Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of really premature rutured membranes ?

My waters went on monday as a result of an infection i picked up having an emergency stitch put in last week.

Babys fine and the stitch is still holding, i've not gone in to labour but obviously this is a grim situation and we're likely to lose our baby boy.

I'm on some wacking great antibiotics which are making me feel hideous but i have been discharged from hospital, there is nothing mroe they can do there apparently so i am home on bedrest praying babys lungs develop and he stays put for a few more weeks to at least give him a chance.

Does anyone know anyne who has been though this ?

Oh I've lurked and lurked but can do so no more.

26 weeks is very good.

Spatone btw is fabulous- make them prescribe it as it is pricey. Ferrous sulphate tablets, oh God I'm having flashbacks. Evil things.

WorzselMincepieYummage · 19/12/2008 17:19

I dont know what to say really except thank you all.. i keep welling up about the support i've recieved in this post but whenever i say thankyou it just sounds so trivial and like its not quite enough.

I SO appreciate it, there are not enough words in my head to get it all out properly but i really do

Your all lovely, and your mums and friends are too

Fingers crossed for 27 weeks, and big healthy lungs !

WorzselMincepieYummage · 19/12/2008 17:20

( and a non constipating prescription )

sticksantaupyourchimney · 19/12/2008 17:21

I've watched this thread on and off too: Good luck Worzel and bump! In 20 years time you'll probably be embarrassing a strapping great 6'foot bloke by reading out this thread to him .

jeanjeannie · 19/12/2008 21:01

Big congratulations for the big 26 weeks mark

I am a big lurker I try not to post when I know nothing that can help - but if a kind message keeps up positive then I will be back with lots more positive vibes and (looks about sheepishly)

A couple of mums on my pre-natal thread took spatone and said it really helped a lot.

heverhoney1 · 21/12/2008 14:40

Worzel - I am another lurker on here and just wanted to say I am so pleased you got to 26 weeks. It seems an age since we were all praying for the 24 week mark! I hope that little one stays comfy and cosey through xmas and new year and we will all be willing you to move on and make the 30 week mark xxxx

LenniEd · 21/12/2008 21:34

TheHopefullyAndTheIvy · 23/12/2008 20:23

Just dropping over to wish you all the best - you've done so fantastically to get this far in your pregnancy, and your LO is being given the best possible chance.

ChristmasFlower · 23/12/2008 22:29

no experience of what you're going through, can't begin to imagine, you've done so well though, just hope Baby W stays put for a bit longer!!

WorzselMincepieYummage · 23/12/2008 22:39

Well i'll give you my update from today, sorry i have not posted in days but i dont want to drag everyone down with my tales of woe or make anyone worry so i have kind of debunked off to the premature baby forum, sorry if i have neglected you

I had a scan this morning,i'm 26+4. No measurable pools and he's still breech with his bum in my pelvis so i'd hazard a guess that whatever he's weeing out is coming straight out of me and down the loo .. obviously a boy, only a boy could be so blimmin awkward. He's 2lb though which seems massive !

We had a tour of the NICU and they were lovely. it all seems very good and the good news is they take babies over 26 weeks so provided they have a cot we wont need to be transfered out which will make our lives easier. We also had a chat with somne kinf of half Dr, i dont know what she was maybe a Nurse Specialist but she knew her stuff. She said the prognosis wasnt as bad as we were told, babies do do a lot better if they have fluid but we know that already and there is nothing i can do about the fact ours doesnt have any. She said its not all doom and gloom and babies can do fine so we're clinging on to that !

Had the bloods, my pulse is still high but they don't seem bothered by it really.

Went home and started looking forward to a mince pie, becks alcohol free beer and present wraping session and the phone rings - it's my MW, Great! CRP whatever that is is raised so i have an infection somewhere and need to go in, talk on the phone of delivering me .. panic stations .

Get to hosp for the 2nd time today and do a urine sample which is full of nastyness so its a UTI which is good i think, started trimethroprim and have to go back in tomorrow for repeat bloods and if the anti'bs are not improving it then baby's
gonna have his eviction notice served and will be delivered tomorrow or Christmas Day presumably by c section if not [fpray] then its back to waiting. If i have an infection in my womb then he's better out than in.. i am ready now, mentally prepared so to speak but another couple of weeks would be nice.

busy, busy day.. i am nackered now !

I hope your all prepared for the big day and your little ones are not driving you barmy.. mine is !

((((hugs))))

EffiePerine · 23/12/2008 22:50

Worzel: have been lurking but wanted to respond to your update: will be thinking of you tomorrow . 26 weeks is a great milestone to have got to.

heverhoney1 · 24/12/2008 00:03

Thinking of you worzel! Positive thoughts about it being a UTI and baby can hang on inside for a little bit longer. If not I hope a storey of a neighbours 24 week preemie being let home last week gives you some hope xxx

ChocolateEclair · 24/12/2008 08:59

worzel - I have been lurking and praying for you and your lo since I first noticed the thread. My EDD is 2 days behind you and I cannot even begin to imagine the horror of my waters breaking so early. You are coping really well, even if you don't feel like you are.

You have had a massive achievment getting to 26 weeks - a real milestone - and hoping baby stays put a little longer - every day counts right? 2 lb is a good weight I think for 26 + 4 .

If baby does arrive over xmas everyone on here will be with you, and the NICU people sound like they really know what they're doing.

Keeping you in my thoughts - STAY POSITIVE!!!
CE xxx

CaptainKarvol · 24/12/2008 10:00

Hi Worzel, my fingers are firmly crossed for you and baby W.

I hope it's just a UTI, but whatever happens now your NICU sounds great, and 26 weeks is a fantastic achievement.

26+5 today - that's almost 27 weeks!
