Happy christmas everyone - we are all packed and will be off after lunch, I will probably not get on t'internet for a few days so have a great time. Big waves and a few party poppers winging their way to you.

johnworf · 24/12/2008 12:38

Bye hedgepig hope you and the family have a good one and don't have too much egg nog!

Wondered where you'd got to mrsb. Hadn't realised you'd been galivanting.

OMFG the order I placed last night with Thorntons arrived today!!! Woot and huzzah! I've already tucked into the viennese truffles....at this rate I'll be unable to walk by boxing day and will probably be Mrs Creosote by New Years Day....ahem

jeanjeannie · 24/12/2008 14:36

I sometimes think DH would like me to go away and leave him Fray Bentos pies more often, he truly loves them. Makes his appreciation of my culinary efforts somewhat suspect...

I'd best be off, open a new box of mince pies for Santa to put with his sherry, leave out a carrot for his red-nosed friend and work out how to stuff all these things into the DC's stockings. I always loved my stocking best even though it was just full of daft things.

JW, Viennese truffles are my favourite continental; now might be the time to snaffle a couple from the box I bought for us in the 'threefer'. Hope you have fun munching through the rest- give K a lick, that'll start her on baby-led weaning - and that you have a lovely restful gluttonous bad telly day tomorrow.

And a very happy Christmas to one and all!

Tee2072 · 24/12/2008 21:39

Just popped on to say:

HAPPY CHRISTMAS everyone!

johnworf · 26/12/2008 07:47

Hope you all you ladies had a good one. I'm starting to resemble a thornton's chocolate. All I need is a label stuck to me to let you know what I contain (I'm a soft centre but DH would say I'm a hard nut).

Katherine looked at her pile of presents and then cried for her bottle. Totally not bothered by all the fuss. Not seen DSS since y'day morning. I think he's stuck to his Xbox.

DH making suggestive advances all day. It's that time of year again. I had to remind him what happened last time he did this at the same time last year..........

ermintrude13 · 26/12/2008 09:19

Morning all, (JW, looks like it might just be me and thee till all the festive revellers return from their visits).

I ate so much actual food that I didn't have room for ONE chocolate - most disappointing. But it was strangely good to feel sick because of something other than pregnancy nausea! And there are lots and lots of pies, biscuits and choccies to work through over the next few days and weeks .

I'm glad young Katherine's priorities remained food over presents, quite right too. Next year she'll be chucking all the gifts aside to play with the wrappings and the year after that she'll have got her big bro to write her list out for her, starting with Playstation, I-phone, laptop, every incarnation of Barbie that's ever been made. etc etc. The indifferent to consumerism stage is so short; treasure it!

Was your DH making subtle advances like Jim on the Royle family last night? Now there's an attractive prospect. We watched it with the in-laws who had never seen it before and FIL was clearly put out with the number of 'shites' and 'arses', which cheered me up no end. Ho ho ho, just another day and night before I wave them off and we can get on with slobbing out en famille .

mrsboogie · 26/12/2008 12:09

I'm still here too ladies - just buried under a pile of Thorntons' boxes

Nice day yesterday - Mr D got a similar load of pressies to K I'd imagine but they remain all piled up nicely in his toybox neglected by sticky little hands. One pressie that did arouse much hilarity was my sister's gift of a bouncy door swing - we put him in it last night and looked so much like a tiny faintly bemused stripey clad pantomine fairy pirhouetting about on his tippy toes. Me and OH did laff!

Watched the Royle Family too - didn't twig at first at the sudden change in Denise till I realised that the fairly lights everywhere etc - were meant to look like Nigella's house in the cookery prog.

Off to OH's parents' today where a visiting grandma will no doubt snatch D greedily from my grasp as soon as I walk in the door. Everyone else hovers uncertainly before asking if they can have a hold - great grandmas do not stand on ceremony in this matter I have found.

Haha jw yes it is that time of year again - I have already said to OH that we took no precautions again on the 28th we could have another one at exactly the same time again next year.

No chance! (ahem not yet anyway)

johnworf · 26/12/2008 15:37

hahahahaha mrsb. It's DH's b'day again on Sunday - same day I conceived last year! No chance. I'll be sleeping on the sofa and out of his grasps until that day has surely passed.

I'm still to finish off watching the Royle Family as half way through I gave up the ghost and retired to my bed chamber...well and truly knackered. We put together DSS's football table together (those with the plastic men stuck to a metal bar that you twizzle around to get the ping pong ball in the goal). Gawd...after much plumber language and huffing and puffing we did it Anyhoo, in bed by 10.30pm with the octopus but I feigned a comalike state.

K slept through like a good girl and goes down without much of a fight around 10.30pm in the evening.

No visitors here and not missing them at all when I'm reminded of ermintrude's in laws.

K loves her gymini though and I've hung allsorts from the arch and now it's like something from the Krypton Factor. Hehe.

Love the sound of D's bouncy contraption. Good job you haven't got a dog or other kids that run through the house causing the bouncy type thingy to twirl around madly with him still in it!

Only another box of Thornton's chocolate's to work my way through....come on ermintrude you're letting the side down old girl I'm even eating them for breakfast now Ain't xmas fab?

Just ordered many many clothes off Amazon for myself. It's my present to myself seeing as DH couldn't be arsed getting me anything apart from toothbrush which I ordered Btw, I thoroughly recommend the Sonicare toothbrush to anyone...it's brilliant!

Ilovechristmas · 26/12/2008 16:04

Hi All, Im not sure if I am in the right thread, Ive posted on one, but wanted to hear from similar aged yummy mummys I have been feeling very nauseas for about a 5 weeks, told my OH that I felt pg about 2 weeks ago, only to start bleeding that night! I didnt lose anything and the bleeding stopped abruptly 2 days later. Nothing since apart from nausea getting worse, stomach very bloated. The only thing I didnt get but has started now, is my boobies hadnt changed. Did several hpt all negative as was the drs. I spoke to the practice nurse on tuesday and they are testing my blood for allsorts of things, but having read some things on here, I have also asked for a pg test. Thing is I am ancient (the oldest on here I think (blush) at 47!! Any advice, similar stories etc most welcome. If I am in the wrong thread, I do apologise and perhaps someone could point me in the right direction? I should point out I have kids already the eldest being 21. Thank you and Happy Christmas to allxxx

johnworf · 26/12/2008 17:04

Ilovechristmas not sure really about your symptoms. If you've done HPT and the doc's done one and still negative then not sure what to suggest. How long past your LMP did you test and are your periods regular? If not, then I can only think that it's either too soon to test and so giving a false negative or that you aren't.

I don't think 47 is ancient but I'm wondering if any of the health care people have mentioned it might be the menopause to you.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully the doc will get to the bottom of it very soon.

Ilovechristmas · 26/12/2008 17:22

Hi johnworf, I havent had the blood test results yet, will get them wednesday hopefully and yes, I have asked them to check for menopause although my periods are still monthly. I dont know when my last period was though, I think it was around mid november. I suffered nausea very early on with all my pregnancies and now my boobies are filling out. Smells and tastes are also a problem, coffee makes me urge big time!! xx

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 27/12/2008 10:28

Hi All
Hope you all have had a fab christmas..Alex had a great day, we all took festive excess to the n'th degree and are still living on the left overs (diet starts on Jan 5th)~Hope to be back more regularly in the New Year.
Ilovechristmascan't help much with the symptoms but can reassure you that if you are pg 47 is not too old...my pal had her now 2.5yr old just before her 48th birthday and is now trying for another at 50!...Hope the tests bring the result you are hoping for on Weds.

Ilovechristmas · 27/12/2008 11:59

Crikey Floria, your friend is remarkable!! I am not worried if I am, more worried if I am not as I will be thinking what on earth can make me feel like this! My nausea wasn't too bad on xmas day, which was good (probably because I just kept eating and eating lol). I have promised myself a healthy eating day today, but may have to get the kids to hide the mince pies - I love mince pies and hate the day they put them out on the shelf I wish you friend well and thanks for the reply it is really appreciated xx

Tee2072 · 27/12/2008 13:19

Hi all

Safely back from the parents in law. I do love them but man was it time to head home!

I see we are creeping up to 1000 posts...are we ready for some new thread titles?

johnworf · 28/12/2008 18:46

Def diet come the new year.

Off for 9am ECG appointment tomorrow. Fingers crossed ....again

Hope you're all well out there. It's my DH's b'day today.....uh oh

ermintrude13 · 28/12/2008 20:00

johnworf, did you get dh a birthday gift as wonderful and romantic as his christmas present to you?

johnworf · 28/12/2008 20:29

I got him a mug with 'I love my daddy Love Katherinexxx' with her pic on the front of it from Photobox. He LOVES it!

One happy DH...tick.

Btw, the toothbrush is fab. My teeth are really sparkly See?

ermintrude13 · 29/12/2008 09:40

I'm blinded by your smile JW! I remember the photobox conversation - that's what I did for DH last year. Good ain't they?

Taking DD on her Main Present shopping spree now - £30 to spend in the sales (mostly at H&M methinks) and lunch out in town. She's only 10 so thinks this is a fabulous and generous gift - I'll enjoy such simple gratitude while I can; it won't last long

ladymac · 29/12/2008 10:06

Hi all and is it too late to say Happy Christmas?

Elizabeth was still throwing up on the night of the 23rd, from 1am till 4. Having done 2 loads of washing during those hours I didn't feel very sleepy. So I got dressed and drove to Tesco at 4.30am. It was fab, more chiefs than indians at that time. Went back to bed with hot chocolate and biscuits feeling smug but more than a tad tired. Had to get up for my ante-natal appt which was at half nine. As it was only round the corner I left Grace in charge and as I thought, E was still asleep when I got home.

Luckily that was the end of the vomiting and although her appetite was not great she was in fine fettle for Christmas.

johnworf I am 25 weeks today and I kept thinking of you all last week, amazed that you gave birth at that time and amazed that you gave birth to such a little fighter I know that you were on your hols but how did your labour start? Remind me of the story if you feel you can.

My favourite present from DH has to be my lovely kitchen scales, a retro type affair in a gorgeous fig colour. I had asked for some but he swore he'd never buy me kitchenware as a present for fear I'd divorce him. Probably because I'd told him about a present one year from my ex, which consisted of 6 ramekins and a blow torch. Not a little culinary blow torch I have to add but a huge one I could have used for professional plumbing jobs

Tee2072 · 29/12/2008 11:06

Morning all!

So any big plans for NYE? Personally we are going to do what we always do, champers and a DVD. I hate going out because it is so crowded and expensive!

Also, for all you pregnant mummies...I received Champneys Mother to be Body wash and body butter for XMas and they are fab!!

Unfortunately, they don't seem to be available on their website, so I am still looking!

johnworf · 29/12/2008 11:27

ladymac not sure how it started. They think it was a silent urine infection. I was in bed and needed the loo and then some water squirted out and wasn't sure if it was wee wee but knew really that it was my waters. Much Benny Hill like running around ensued. Tried to stop my labout to no avail. Managed to get 1 lot of steroids into me. Midwives not done a diabetic labour before so were setting up the insulin drip and reading the instructions from a bit of paper! . Then she was born...red, shiny, baby bird-like, eyes fused, covered in hair and gave one tiny cry like a kitten before she was whisked away from me. Didn't see her again for another 3 hours and by that time she was covered in tubes, wires, ventilated etc.

Seems a lifetime ago.

Saw a tiny come into cardiology clinic this morning and couldn't believe that looking at K now she was half the size of this weeny ickle thing that was there with it's mummy.

She has her first taste of baby rice yesterday and by the look on her face, you wouldn't have been mistaken for thinking I'd actually just fed her dog poo.

johnworf · 29/12/2008 11:28

NYE will see me and DH as usual, in bed well before midnight....only woken by fireworks, quick moan about the noise and back to sleep.

Not sure what'll happen this year with K though. If they wake her up I think we'll both be out in the street like Victor Meldrew!
