I have jsut received an e mail from Ds2's football manager.

They are bag packing in the town centre Morrisons on CHRISTMAS EVE

10am - 3pm one adult per child!!!!!!!!

Has the man no brains?

jeanjeannie · 18/12/2008 09:58

Morning all.

lilibet hello sweet, was wondering where you were! Does Morrisons realise what its let itself in for!!!! And thanks for the teenage horror story - I'm putting my fingers in my ears and going La la la la la - I can't hear you Poor you.

mrsB OMG - that's shooting round. Bless you. Is it not extendable? It seems so young - gosh, but I suppose the creche is on site so it's not like he's miles away.

jw Do you develop a bottomless purse as they get older? Or do you just have to work 4x as hard to keep them. MMmmm, not looking forward to that either. So - they become teenages (nasty) THEN they just get nice again but need money

Dinner went well last night - although I was on my last legs when we finished. And Iris fell out of bed (first time) last night - much shouting but she did hit the 'crash mat' so no harm done!!

ermintrude13 · 18/12/2008 09:58

lilibet, you didn't have anything else planned for that time on Christmas Eve did you? . i love footie managers and scout leaders - they're so caught up in their (very worthy and useful and impressive) voluntary activities that they become sort of other-worldly....

lilibet · 18/12/2008 10:01

This football manager has four sons and the eldest three all have teams that he manages . I manages ds1's team for a year and know the work that one team creates but he really does need to think these things through.

How are you Ermintrude - still being sick?

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 10:13

mornin all

Oooh I am so tired I feel like I can't focus my eyes. We had a v restless whingy night with D - probably due to the jabs - think I got 2 hrs sleep. Calpol no benefit whatsoever.

jw I was still at school when I fell pg with my DS1 and went straight onto benefits while pregnant and after he was born for a couple of years. I'm quite sure I wouldn't have minded in the least if I'd had to leave him and go to work or anywhere else - not that I ever got the chance!!. Appreciate everything so much more now that I am old and wise I don't now if I'd want to stay at home permanently but definitely until he was one if I could!

lilibet at the man thinking you can devote your whole Christmas Eve!

OP posts:
johnworf · 18/12/2008 10:52

lilibet tell him you are otherwise engaged and cannot possibly get out of it. What a numpty he is. Can't you tell it's a man that's made those arrangements? Men have nothing better to do around christmas do they?

mrsb seems we were both youngsters when we had our first ones. It feels really different when you have a baby when you're older, don't you think? Jebus, I sound like I just didn't care when I had DD#1 but I think your outlook on life at 20 is very different to when you're 40.

Any chance you can work at home for a couple of days a week or go back part time?

JJ I am afraid to tell you that yes, they do permanently have their hand held out for money once they reach the age of fashion/boys/girls/cars/going out/music/techonology. Personally I do work hard and give them what I can to help out. I don't help out DD#1 as much as the boys though as she works full time and has her own place and lives with her b/f but I've bought her interview suits and things along those lines in the past.

All I can say about teenage behaviour is.........do you remember when you were one? Well if you do, there is your answer! They're still awkward, moody, secretive, arrogant, know it alls, etc etc etc

johnworf · 18/12/2008 10:53

mrsb meant to say, really sorry to hear that Darragh has been off due to his jabs. Hopefully he'll be more perkier today

We have DSS to hospital tomorrow for tooth out under general. Not looking forward to the after bit but I'm hoping he'll cope well with it. He's a bit scared about it all today. Poor dear

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 11:04

don't blame him jw I'd be scared shitless myself if I was having that done! poor lad - at least he's got Christmas to look forward to in a few days.

Yeah jw - its not that you cared less of loved them less first time around but I think being so young you are very blase about things - less well informed and therefore less worried about all the things that can go wrong. So you take a lot for granted and just breeze along happily. Thoughts about cot death and childhood illnesses never entered my head back then.

hedgepig · 18/12/2008 11:19

Morning yawnnn O was up snuffling for what seemed like most of the night, he has a bit of a sniffle the poor little mite.

Also went to my work Christmas do last night it was nice to see everyone, but I didn't get back until 1/2 11 so I am a bit tired.
Also realized my night vision is not what it was as I was driving home, I must go to the optician in the new year.

MrB boo to mid Feb, have you got a confirmed nursery place?

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 11:22

lilibet so good to see you! And at least he waited until he was 12, my 8 year old niece was put in Time Out for the first time since she was about 3 last week for not minding, talking back and rolling her eyes at her mother! Her little sister was shocked because she has never seen big sister go into time out ever!! My SIL called me, wondering how much worse this was going to get!

I am having a strange morning. I ordered a Decaff Latte for my staff meeting this morning, but I have a feeling it wasn't Decaff! I haven't had caffeine in so long, I'm practically shaking from one! ME! The x-caffeine addict! I think the baby got a bit of a jolt!

Also, how come no one tells you that sneezing hurts when you're pregnant? My whole office keeps hearing 'achoo OUCH'!!!

hedgepig · 18/12/2008 11:31

Tee what on earth is hurting?

lilibet · 18/12/2008 11:33

Tee your scan photos were great. It's a real lump in the throat moment.

I think girls become teenagers much earlier than boys. Dd is now so lovely at age 20, but I remember the rows over what she could wear when she was about 8 or 9.

I only drink about two cups of coffee a week and I can really tell when I have, I'm buzzing for ages afterwards!

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 11:38

which bit of you hurts tee? hedgepig my recent inquiries have established that the fact that I have not heard form the nursery mean we have not got a nursery place for my expected return date. I was told that they would have contacted me three months before my return was due if we had. Nice to know! So it looks like a private nursery until the work one has a place available. Am going to speak to my boss next week at our Christmas do to tell him that I intend to use all of my remaining leave by taking one day a week off for four months by which time I expect them to have made arrangements for me to work from home one day a week. Then hopefully we will only need a nursery for three days a week. The whole thing is a massive embuggerance. Really must win that lottery!

OP posts:
lilibet · 18/12/2008 11:39

Waht do you do *MrsB%?

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 11:48

mrsb and hedgpig the muscles pull across my bump and hurt when I sneeze! I looked it up in many of my pregnancy books, and this is perfectly normal!

Thanks lilibet I was pretty choked up and so was my very stoic husband! He's been great through the whole thing, but something about those particular scans seem to have brought it home for him.

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 11:52

aah right tee never had that myself

it never seems really real until you see the scan pics - especially for men for whom I imagine the whole thing never seems real until they are being elbowed in the middle of the night to get up and fetch the newborn for his feed.

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 11:56

I'm a civil servant lilibet

one of those people who the Daily Mail is today saying shouldn't still be in a job. They reckon that since the private sector is in recession we should all lose our jobs too. Plus the usual crap about gold plated pensions and big salaries. What a joke! I have to work until I am seventy and I only get a final salary pension because I get a lowly salary now!

sorry rant over.

OP posts:
lilibet · 18/12/2008 12:13

Fully sympathise - I'm an NHS clerical worker. Crap salary but they have you for life because of the pension.

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 13:03

mrsb when people say things like that I want to reply: Okay, then we'll fire all of the firemen. And Policemen. Oh and the person who cuts your benefits cheque. And what about the people who are trying to find you a job at Job Centre? Shall they also lose their job?

mrsboogie · 18/12/2008 14:09

exactly tee !

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 18/12/2008 14:21

Pension...??? what's one of them then? My first job and subsequent pension contributions went to Robert Maxwell when I was at the Daily Mirror - put me off for life!!

tee my bump muscles did that. I had a cough when I was 14 weeks with Verity and it was 'cough, splutter, eoowww!'

JW Awwww, bless your DSS, I bet he is nervous, poor thing.

I'm amazed at you lot who had babies in teens/early 20s. I was soooo immature - I'd have freaked. I didn't leave uni till 23....it was all about me, me, me!! Hats off to you. Have to say I always thought I'd be older when i had kids (not THIS old!!) just because I knew I'd be rubbish at it otherwise!! Mind you I wonder some days if I am any good at it now!

mrsB what a pain about the nursery how annoying I hope they sort you out soon.

Went to the nice playgroup this morning...but now Iris is refusing to have a nap. Me thinks she'll fall asleep later - which is sooooo annoying.

I got my calendar from Photobox - it looks fab but they sent someone elses with it. So annoyed as I can't get it back to them and onto the people in time for Xmas - that's so sad.

What shall I do this afternoon with two munchkins who have runny bums?

redtabby · 18/12/2008 14:27

Hello, may I join this thread? I am one of the real oldies, 45, and although this is not my first pregnancy it is the first that has got this far (nearly 14 weeks now). I have had three miscarriges at about 8 weeks each time. I have avoided coming on Mumsnet in this pregnancy so far because I just could not face having to tell people, as I have had to before, that I have miscarried. I have now also started afresh with a new nickname!

I remain anxious and feel panicky quite a lot of the time. I had a CVS last week, and the result was a chromosomally normal boy. I am still scared about everything! I have two teenaged stepdaughters who live with us. My hubby is rather younger than me, at just 38.

I thought thought I would check in and say hello!

Tee2072 · 18/12/2008 14:41

Hi redtabby welcome!

Glad this pregnancy seems to be sticking for you and that your CVS was good!

I hope you like CAKE, Daily Mail and BOOBIES...that's what we mostly talk about.

jeanjeannie · 18/12/2008 14:41

Redtabby - welcome to your new cyber home!! My goodness - how excited/scary/daunting etc etc! Well done you on getting this far and getting through the CVS too

There are a few 'real' oldies here. I'm a bit younger (43) but didn't have DD1 until 41 and DD2 at 42.

You'll also fit in a treat as many of us are craddlesnatchers with a younger man! My DP is 7 years younger.

Please feel free to moan, laugh, wander in and say anything random - at anytime...we all do!! SOme of us are always here others pop in and out. We all like CAKE! And cyber-cake is just soooooo healthy!

Lovely to have you around - all you've got to do now is sit back and enjoy the time when you're little package arrives

jeanjeannie · 18/12/2008 14:42

Can I just add. My house smells of Poo
