Today, 2 weeks after start of heavy bleeding, have just done a repeat pregnancy test to check had returned to negative and it came up pretty strongly positive.
I don't feel pregnant at all, but last few nights had a bit of heartburn which is a bit unusual.
I know I need a scan but any other tales, my goodness I really bled heavily, dark blood, lots of it and tissue {shock], I just can't believe there is anything left to make a bfp

Maybe you didn't ahve a m/c at all or maybe you m/c a twin? I know someone this happened too. Go to your EPU today and get hecked out so you know either way. Good luck. x

And I think, if I had been pregnant a week, it should have taken a week for the bhcg to reduce down again if i had had an early mc, and it has been 2 weeks so it must be positive rather than a residual positive from the mc
I will dig out my clearblue test at home when I get back from work
Thanks everyone, I can't believe this, I really don't think it can possibly mean I am pregnant

Hi Darrell - was just wondering where you were yesterday

No advice I'm afraid - just wanted to wish you good luck - keep us posted !

Pinkjenny · 21/11/2008 10:40

Hi Darrell - I bled pretty heavily from 5 - 8 weeks, and the reason was never detected.

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 10:42

Hi jools1, good to see you, had to give up on ttc boards, it was too difficult after the first mc, let alone the second, think I will ask the knicker checkers for advice

Hi DR, really have my fingers crossed for you that things work out, my sister is one of those who had such a serious bleed at 5 weeks the doctor told her there was no hope, but she still went on to have a lovely boy (assumed it was twins then too). However, don't want to get you down, but I was advised to wait 3 weeks for a BFN (I miscarried on Monday).

Jools1 · 21/11/2008 10:49

I think hormone levels can vary enormously - the EPU did a test for me 48 hours after the mc started and said it was only barely positive.

I need to test again soon to confirm BFN, but just can't quite bring myself to do so

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 10:50

Oh lionstar it is heartbreakingly crap isn't it, i can't bear being pregnant knowing i might bleed
Thanks, yes I shouldn't get my hopes up as after last miscarriage went back to negative really quickly ie within a week
Yes , I think is better to be negative, I will assume worse case scenario and assume is residual positive

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 10:52

Jools
Yes i remember first mc, bleeding started and test was barely positive on the first day of the bleeding.
God only knows.... the nightmare continues....won't tell DH, he can;t bear the not knowing

I had a heavier, more painful, than normal 'period' at four weeks. That bleed is now a two and a half year old. Do not lose heart, but please do request that you get referred for an immediate scan to let you know one way or another.

Good luck.

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 10:58

LilRWG, thankyou
Am trying to get scan but feel fraud

OP posts:
LilRedWG · 21/11/2008 11:52

You are not a fraud - you need to know if ytou are pregnant or if something has gone wrong. Please make sure you are listened to.

LilRedWG · 21/11/2008 11:53

I also bled at 15 weeks and 26 - and she still made it.

rainbowdays · 21/11/2008 12:06

DarrellRivers - hope you get your scan soon. I think that there are only four possibilities, 1) you not fully miscarried, if you have retained some tissue this can give a positive and will need to be dealt with due to risk of infection. 2) you possibly just had a bleed like happens in many pregnancies, and the pregnancy has continued as normal. 3) you miscarried a twin or 4) you had a miscarriage but are pregnant again with another new pregancy already (this happened to me).

Due to the first possibility that I mentioned here you really do NEED a scan now. please don't feel like a fraud, if you have to wait for a scan, then please get them to do blood test today and another in 48hours to look at hcg levels. I hope that you get good news, please come back and let us know how things turn out.

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 12:20

Private scan place really very crap but EPU were lovely (can't believe how much better they were than the private place)
I referred myself and have scan monday, they were fully booked today and medically I know it can wait until monday so am happy with monday appt as no pain and no bleeding at the moment
Will do clear blue test tomorrow am
Thankyou everyone

Good luck. Take it easy this weekend. x

BlameItOnTheBogey · 21/11/2008 12:30

Good luck. I have massive bright red bleeding for two weeks when 5 weeks pregnant. Assumed, because it was new blood and tissue etc, that that was the end of the pregnancy. My DS is six months tomorrow and currently squirming abut on his gym as I type. It really isn't definitely all over yet.

dan39 · 21/11/2008 12:32

Just to add to stories, I had a big bleed with lumpy bits in at six weeks, was convinced it was mc and went to doc who sent me for scan to check it was 'all gone' and I had a 7 week old bean with a hb - I am now 29 weeks. It was an extra chorioric haemmorage (SP??) - which was a tear on the womb wall that did not affect the bean. So bleeding while needs to be checked is not always bad. I had had a mmc the month before so was utterly convinced it was gone.

Good luck getting thru the weekend, and with the scan on Monday - and yes I can heartily recommend the Kicker Checkers thread, they have kept me (sort of) sane for the last few months!

cupcakeandtea · 21/11/2008 12:43

The exact same thing happened to me. At around 7 weeks i started bleeding on the Thurs, had a scan and could just about see a sac, bled really heavily on the Monday and passed what looked like a sac and presumed that was it. Went to the EPU and much to my complete suprise there was a heartbeat and I'm now nearly 18 weeks pg.

Nurse told me it was probably a cyst that was attached to the sac but there was so much blood I presumed I'd miscarried so you may well still be pregnant. I didn't feel pregnant at all apart from the fact my boobs were still incredibly sore.

Hope all goes ok for you.

SpangleMaker · 21/11/2008 13:31

Darrell wishing you very best of luck for the scan on Monday. Come back and tell us how you got on.

FWIW I am thinking if you mc at 5w the hcg should have gone down again pretty quickly. If it's still strongly +ve 2 weeks later surely you are in with a chance. SIL had a big bleed and was told almost certainly a mc, but she carried on with symptoms & her dd is now 18m. She thinks it was a disappearing twin.

(Also wave to Jools, hope you are ok. And Lionstar, very to hear your news)

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 14:00

Hey Spangles, lovely to see you again, how are you doing?
And yes , that 's what I think, but i daren't let my hopes get up
Thanks cupcake, dan and BIOTB for your lovely tales
Time will tell

nearly 17w & so far so good, fingers crossed!

Really hope it works out for you

DarrellRivers · 21/11/2008 16:44

Spangles, am very pleased for you, it's funny, the last 3 months have been so stressful I really had started to chill out properly and started to enjoy myself a bit more the last week or so.
I am going to stop doing my horrible night on calls and spend a bit more money on holidays etc.
And have a break for a few months from the TTc rollercoaster.
Now all I need to do is to stay in this 'devil may care' attitude to protect myself
I am assuming am being very optimistic booking scan and will expect to see empty sac on monday
And thanks again to anyone who has posted
