Is the 'big out front bump for a boy, low down wide bump for a girl' thing true?

We'd quite like a girl this time round - last two times were both boys and the bump was very poky out in front, iyswim.

It seems lower down and less poky out this time round - is that a sign of a girl, or just stomach muscles that have given up the fight completely?

THE myths are all a load of tosh.

With ds everyone said i was having a girl except one woman who came into my work and said. OH i see a little boy i hope everyone is knitting for you in blue.SHe said that and walked out without saying or buying anything. I was convinced it was a girl until the midwife said it was a boy!!!! I was like

I think the 'how you carry' thing is a complete load of nonsense, to be honest!

Hi Mums to be, i am new to all this, i have a 4 year old, and expecting my 2nd child 15May 09, i was wondering if there is anyway you can tell what you having, apart from a scan?

With my 1st i was all out front, but not huge till the end,and very low,one weekend of morning sickness, this time felt rough before even missed period, threw up or felt nausous every day and evening, passed around 14weeks, bump is out front, huge for 5 mths and very high up, feel bubs in ribs, and mate said its on my face to, am i carrying same sex or is it a baby girl?also does any one believe in this wedding ring thing, with thread done it twice came out a girl, did chinese gender came out girl so any advice wold be great, got scan 29th 21 weeks then, but cant wait!!!!

I was also wondering about the ring thing. There are two different ways of doing it... over your wrist (if it sways up & down the wrist, it's supposed to be a boy, across the wrist for a girl) and over your bump (ring does circles for a girl and goes across for a boy). I know two mums for whom each of these ways of predicting worked. Should mention also that the wrist one also indicates past & future babies as well...
I'm not normally into "fortune telling" (if you can call it that) as such but curiosity got the better of me. Just wondering is it all fluke or has it failed for anyone out there?

My mw says you can't tell till 38 weeks and she said small compact bump means a girl. A huge lump of a bump means a boy. She also says the speed of heartbeat isn't reliable till 38 weeks either.
