Feel embarrassed to ring MW - but feel a bit odd and have a wet undercarriage (!) POSS TMI IN OP

Last night I felt "damp" down below - wasn't overly hot but had been coughing a lot so assumed I'd peed myself a bit (!) - didn't smell at all though.

This morning, just done school run and on the walk back I realised that my trousers felt damp between my legs - got home, again no smell, trousers are damp but not wet IYKWIM (same with knickers) but I feel very wet inside.

God sorry this really is TMI

Should I ring the MW? I never had this with other two pgs.

There is no gush of water or anything, just feels damp - PJs were dry this morning

wasabipeanut · 25/09/2008 09:34

What is your EDD?

wasabipeanut · 25/09/2008 09:35

I had a slow leak of waters - could be this if you are nearly due? Could also be general, erm, discharge!

Is it liquidy? Clear?

IdrisTheDragon · 25/09/2008 09:35

How pregnant are you? I can't remember.

You could have more discharge than normal, or it could be that you are leaking something or other.

I probably would ring the MW if it were me

NorbertDentressangle · 25/09/2008 09:36

Firstly, well done on the use of the term undercarriage in the title -made me lol!

Secondly, how far along are you? You are quite far along aren't you IIRC? It could be a slow leak of waters or could be increased discharge (ugh, hate that word).

My waters went with a gush so there was no mistaking it but I have heard of women having a very, very gradual release

LadySanders · 25/09/2008 09:37

i had a slow leak too for several days before waters broke.

frankbestfriend · 25/09/2008 09:37

Could it be your waters going?

Mine went with a very slow leak which came after a huge coughing fit.

berolina · 25/09/2008 09:37

do get checked out. I had a couple of worrying incidents similar to this with ds2. All was fine (discharge can increase a lot in pg) but better safe than sorry and peace of mind is important.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:38

Am 35 weeks today - supposed to be at work in 5 minutes (40 min drive away!) but I came home and fretted instead.

I'll give her a ring, thanks all

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:39

wasabi - can't really describe it as its just a general feeling of dampness rather than a cup of the stuff IYKWIM

OP posts:
frankbestfriend · 25/09/2008 09:39

Let us know how you get on, MG.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:42

can't get through now

DH is out of range on his mobile phone ALL DAY ffs - didn't think I'd need to ensure I can get hold of him at this stage (overdue with both others).

I will witter nonsense on here while I wait for MW to get off the blardy phone.

Prob should ring work as well!

Get it checked out, I had similar feeling on Sunday, and they told me to come straight to hospital to check if waters had gone. Was 38 weeks.

Everything was fine, BUT they did hook me up to a monitor and check the waters. Basically they did a speculum exam and asked me to cough, and said if the speculum filled with water then obviously waters had gone. Didn't in my case!

I'm group b strep + and was told if waters had gone the baby would have to be born that day; I would imagine you would have a little longer if not.

Glad I checked though ....

Ebb · 25/09/2008 09:47

My waters went a bit like this at 38 wks. I was coughing and thought I'd wet myself. I didn't have any contractions and rang the maternity ward and was told to come in for a trace to make sure all was well. Baby was fine and my contractions started a few hours later. If you can't get through to your midwife, ring the maternity unit.

georgimama · 25/09/2008 09:50

Why do you feel embarrassed?

If you can't get hold of the MW within the next hour I would ring the delivery suite at the hospital for advice (even if you aren't planning on hospital delivery) you seriously need to get checked out - may be nothing at all but not worth the risk).

Doesn't the MW team have an emergency bleeper you can try?

TippiShagpile · 25/09/2008 09:51

Do you have any discomfort? Do you think you might have a bladder infection? If so, get yourself to your GP right away and get some anti bs.

I had a bladder infection at 34 weeks which I ignored (thought it was general discomfort from being v pregnant) and it irrited my womb lining and I haemorraghed and went into premature labour. Hideous.

I don't mean to scare you MamaG but I wish someone had told me to get to the GP. I had no idea a bladder infection could be so problematic.

Hope you are ok.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:51

Shit don't say that Ebb! I have NOTHING ready

No baby vests
Nothiong to give birth in
No maternity PJs
No nursing bras
No pads
No breast pads

OMG OMG OMG panic panic

I'm going to feel such a cock tonight when I slink onto thread and say "tis discharge" aren't I?

OP posts:
pooka · 25/09/2008 09:51

Put a pad in your knickers so you can get a better idea about what the discharge/dampness is.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:53

I don't think I have a water infection - weeing is normal (for 35 weeks pg!) and no pain or discomfort

HAve had strong BH and diarrhoea today (again, TMI)

I changed my trousers and the new pair aren't wet

OP posts:
MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:54

I'm doing that panic skim reading thing where you miss things

I feel embarrassed because I should be an old hand at this pg malarky by now (third child!) and the fact that its probably nothing - I can't say "oh its my first I'm just making sure" < strained grin

berolina · 25/09/2008 09:55

ohoh MamaG, diarrhoea sounds a bit labour-ish (IME)

get checked. Good luck.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 09:56

don't say that!

OP posts:
frankbestfriend · 25/09/2008 09:57

MamaG, I got through at least 20 pairs of knickers with my slow leak before my contractions started.
Have you anyone else who could be on standby? A parent or sibling? Maybe someone could actually go and physically contact your dh.

orangehead · 25/09/2008 09:57

Hope all ok mamag. Dont worry about not being ready, if it is that time (but might not be) thats what friends/husbands and 24 hrs tescos are for
