I presume you had given it a good wash before you put it in the sterilizer. If so your little man will be fine. There's been quite a lot on MN on sterilizing and whether it's actually necessary, especially if you put the bottles in the dishwasher.

mrsboogie · 29/09/2008 16:58

no not really - just kind of swilled it out under the tap and rinsed it to make sure all the milk was gone...not like it went through the dishwasher or anything. hmmmm...

johnworf · 29/09/2008 18:29

mrsb don't worry about it. DH gave K a bottle that had been sat on the side for 2 hours - at least! They'll come to no harm. As long as you pick off the curdled crust, they're fine Think of all the mums you see pick up a babies dummy and stick it in their mouth and then in LO's. Makes me want to vomit personally but LO's are ok with it.

Well done ladymac! So glad to hear that things are going great and LO is growing like he/she should. Onwards and outwards from now on

Have just been given long list of 'things I need' from DS#1 who is moving into his new apartment (note, not a flat like we all had) with his GF on Weds. He's so excited...so much so that he's even deemed to be seen out shopping with his old ma for things he needs. I'm so honoured

They're already dropping hints about potential christmas presents. DD#1 was round tonight and mentioned she needs a new widescreen tv. mrsb tell them all...this will be you lot in another 15 years time!

Couple of new pics of 'The Boss' for your delictation. Merp

rosebury · 29/09/2008 18:42

hello ladies sorry for not being on for such a long time but have been lurking but posting on ante natal thread but it is so busy at the moment as we are all due in october i am due this week and will try to get back to this thread again soon hopefully with news of birth.

take care ladies.

hedgepig · 29/09/2008 19:44

fabby news ladymac you can have a relax and stat spreading the news.
big waves to rosebury I can't keep up with the Oct thread at the moment every time I look there are 2 new pages.
Hosp OK I have a 40+12 date booked for a induction - breaking waters and see if anything happens sort of thing, he did mention they may consider a drip but I really don't want to go there. No mention of age or the need for extra monitoring. I feel a bit weird having a deadline of this but I suppose it has to happen one way or another. The SHO had a bit of a delve up my nether regions and I have had grumbles all afternoon so maybe something will happen in the next day or so.

rosebury · 29/09/2008 20:13

labour vibes to you hedgepig are you finding things as tough as the rest of us oct ladies good luck hope to hear good news soon.

jeanjeannie · 29/09/2008 20:41

Blimey it's been busy today - barely had chance to read it all. Been one of those days - like wading through treacle

Firstly ladymac FANTASTIC news - you must be thrilled Waiting for those results is so stressful - I'm so pleased for you.

re: Phil & Teds. Firstly, you're not going to love it the same way you do your Bugaboo!! I still have mine and use it lots - especially if it's just verity and me - I pop the car seat on the wheels. Good points: Slim. Easy to put up & fold. Good over terrain - gets over bumps and curbs well. Easy to fold down the main seat really flat but only of use if one child is using.
bad points Very heavy. baby sling only good for a few months (don't bother with carry coccoon very small!)Zero space to hang a bag off handle. Back seat not great.

Basically there's loads of choice for twins but very little in the market that I could find to cover different ages. I reckon the P&T is the best. Ours is Orange - just like the Bugaboo......and Iris's hair

hedgepig I seriously think you should start looking back through posts on 'Pregnancy' and get some top tips for bringing the little monkey out to meet its people!! Mind you - if you've got the rumbles you've probably been poked around so much and inadvertantly had 'a sweep' That probably WAS your induction

johnworf I need a huge tv too...while you're at it Only cos I want a Wii and bugger all point with our little telly. I'm teaching Iris to say to her dad the moment he walks through the door..."Daddy, Daddy I want a pony and I want one NOW"

Gorgeous pic of Pricess K - loads of hair too! She looks tres regal.

mrsboogie I'm sure a non-sterilised bottle once in a while will be fine. I'm amazed that the Americans don't sterilise anything - I mean they are usually so cautious.

Hope your day went ok without DP and the colic-type wind has been held at bay. Oh - I love infacol - it was fab for Iris.

rosebury keep us posted good luck and hope you're enjoying the home straight!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 29/09/2008 22:17

hello all,

well the coliciness seems to have eased and tonight we are back to normal nighttime fretting - which is just crying from 6 'til midnight rather than screaming. So that's ok infacol does seem to be the business alright

induction at 40+12 hedgepig? blimey you wouldn't want to be going much further than that at any age!

mrsboogie · 29/09/2008 23:40

ah I spoke too soon - the screaming started up again...

oh and to make matters worse I discovered today that the cat has been eating my pajamas

Keep finding small holes in my pjs - not the cheap matalan ones but the more expensive special ones. I thought the washing machine was shredding them but no - kicked the cat out of the laundry basket today only to find a quite expensive and almost new set of my bestest jammies under him with one leg full of holes - he'd been chewing them or plucking at them with his claws.

can I please go on holiday now please? ;)

hedgepig · 30/09/2008 06:18

what a strange thing for a cat to do, but cats are pretty strange animals anyway I suppose. I love PJs, DH thinks I am weird.
Good point JJ I want a big TV too if you have some spare dosh JW, what is it about young people today? The move into a place and have to have new and sparkley?? when i was a "girl" you just got 2nd hand, in fact my table still is the same one I've had for the past 15 yrs that I got 2nd hand when I 1st move into unfurnished accomodation. Must just go an get the old zimmer frame out
rosebury I'm OK just aching, can't sleep etc although once the baby is here I will be sleeping even less so I'm not sure why I want it to hurray up.

jeanjeannie · 30/09/2008 09:01

mrsboogie I feel your pain - our cat shreds everything - including the new sofa cover. You need to teach your cat to retract its claws when pouincing on quality items Yes, permission to go on holiday - I'll always sign a holiday form - i'm a soft touch like that

hedgepig I think young people suffer from the 'IKEA syndrom' where everything is new and supposedly 'cheap' We had rag rugs, hemp cushions, lava lamps and the landlord's crappy old furnishings in a like-it-or-lump-it kinda style. No wonder Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen found himself a market with us lot....we'd all been trying to rid ourselves of the interior nightmare!

Raining here May need CAKE

OP posts:
johnworf · 30/09/2008 09:20

Yah, chucking it down here but it is Manchester so brolly's are de rigeur all year round.

I hear what you say about second hand stuff. Crikey, we have the prototype G Plan dining table (made when Mr G Plan was a lad)that came with the house. I quite like second hand which is probably why I'm always on Ebay, scouting for used bargains. But, the young of today want new, unused, untouched by anyone elses hands. When I first moved into a flat (and it was a flat, not an apartment), I begged from everyone for allsorts of furniture. It looked like a room in Rising Damp by the time we'd finished

OOOh bad kitty. I vote you file it's claws down. And mrsb if you're escaping, I'm coming with ya! Just like Thelma and Louise......

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 10:16

chucking it down here too, must remind self to get that brolly attachment for the buggy.

have woken up with cystitis this morning - just realised I can't remember the last time I had a drink of water...

D woke every two hours for a feed right through the night. I did the lot cos daddy has work today but oddly he seems to be more tired (and grumpy)than me

I could swing for that cat - at least the other one chose to express his displeasure at Darragh's arrival by moving in with one of the neighbours. That's the kind of huff I like in a cat.

I think today is a double CAKE day!!

johnworf · 30/09/2008 10:59

Bloody hell mrsb. Has the bad fairy been to visit you of late? Plenty of cranberry and some cymalon methinks and a bear trap for the naughty cat

Have you noticed how grumpy the men folk get even though they do less baby work and have more sleep?

hedgepig · 30/09/2008 11:09

was raining here a 4am this morning but it has stopped now. I'm going to clean the bathroom today, that will be fun NOT.
Maybe i will make a cake or should I make curtains .................inney meeny mimey mo
MrsB can you not persuade the PJ killing cat to move out too??

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 11:12

yep they are on my shopping list jw

I have indeed noticed that phenomenon 'tis most odd. perhaps its that all that sleeping under the duvet with pillows over their heads affects the quality of their sleep? something should be done!! poor the menfolk...

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 11:18

oh i wish hedgepig he barely sets foot outside the door, does oscar - he'd be too scared he might miss an opportunity to eat something . I have no idea how he manages to do his toileting business - he is always indoors. There's not a chance of him buggering off.

sigh...

hedgepig · 30/09/2008 11:31

given that at least he didn't poo on your PJs

I think the trouble with chaps is if they don't get up in the night they get disturbed sleep but not the adrenalin fix of sorting out the baby. So the only answer is for your DHs to do all the baby care in the night it will make them feel better, honest

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 11:33

you might have something there hedgepig

jeanjeannie · 30/09/2008 13:06

OOo mrsboogie a naughty cat, wee wee pains AND a sleepy DP - it's all gone a bit Pete Tong

hedgepig CAKE....bake the cake...you may need something yummy should you go into labour BTW I DO hope you and your DH have started the frolicking regime

Verity woke up every 2 hours from 11.30pm onwards last night - and fed like a sumo wrestler....what's that all about? I'm shagged. Hope that's nowt more than a growth spurt

Friends are coming this afternoon...one of them has a 20 mth old...who speaks in sentances, puts complex shapes into their relevant holes, reads numbers from 1-20 and can make a cat from play dough. Feel like I should post this is the 'am I being unreasonable' thread....but AIBU to not want to indulge this LO in her amazing abilities and force her to play with things that normal kids of that age play with...??!!

Happy Jewish New year....Oh and according to our neighbours - only one day left till you can stuff your face with food during the day If you're none of the above religious persuassions ....then, as you were. There, that's my religious tolerance and understanding done for the year

OP posts:
johnworf · 30/09/2008 13:24

Happy Rosh Hashanah and all that too. A lot of DH's friends are jewish - the ones he plays bridge with. Not sure why a lot of jewish people play bridge but they do. Oh btw, DH is not jewish. He's a abstainer and an unbeliever if that is possible

JJ I'd put the precocious little thing in the cupboard under the stairs and tell her you're playing the Harry Potter game. Or perhaps I am just evil

OOOh bad Verity. Mummy will be knackered out now. DH actually did the 4am feed this morning as I didn't even hear poor K crying. I can hardly have words with him regards this if I'm as guilty too

hedgepig. Hmm decisions, decisions. I'd go for the cake option as curtains do not taste very nice

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 14:11

definitely go for cake hedgepig - curtains are rubbish with a nice cup of tea

love the new pics jw K has beautiful eyes - are they brown?

johnworf · 30/09/2008 14:43

mrsb I think they're very dark blue at the mo but I'm sure that'll change as I have hazel and DH has deep brown. Perhaps they've already changed and I've just not noticed. Bad mother I am!

Btw she's got her dad's eyes. Everyone says so and I think so too.

mrsboogie · 30/09/2008 14:51

they def look brown there - perhaps the brown pigment is starting to come through now..

awww we have same situation - mine are blue and OH's are brown and D's are really dark blue - we think his will go brown also. He has his daddy's eyes too. Was first thing everyone noticed about him as soon as he'd popped (been hauled) out.

johnworf · 30/09/2008 16:42

lol@mrsb. Don't most babies look like their daddy to stop the dads from wandering off or questioning paternity? Some caveman-type instinct apparently. I wish someone would tell Jeremy Kyle and his magic DNA tests!

Btw, if my A-level biology serves me right, brown eyes are dominant over blue aren't they?
