Hello

Have ds 1 called Cassius and expecting number 2 don't know sex yet but would love a little girl (although don't tell people that!)

I taught a little girl named tabitha, once. She was darling! At first, it reminded me of the tv series "bewitched" It's a cute name and I have fond memories of my time with her Being a teacher limits a lot of name possibilities for me, unfortunately (seems that certain names just bring bad karma!)

Meeow

constancereader · 08/08/2008 21:27

I love it and would have chosen it if my dh had not objected.

He says it is a name for a cat, but what does he know?

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 21:27

Tabitha is beautiful

controlfreakyagain · 08/08/2008 21:28

definitely a name for a cat only imo....

MrsMattie · 08/08/2008 21:28

Tabby is such a silly name that even though I think Tabitha is quite nice I wouldn't risk it in case it got shortened.

cthea · 08/08/2008 21:29

Not too keen on Tabitha.

WallOfSilence · 08/08/2008 21:30

It's a cats name.

fishie · 08/08/2008 21:30

tabitha/tabby is lovely.

mrsmattie i hope you will now rename yourself Mrs Matilda.

pinktree · 08/08/2008 21:31

Thanks for your opinions! I suppose I don't mind the references to cats as I love them although we can't have any as DH is allergic!

why is it a cat's name? Never heard that before! O think of that cute little girl on "bewitched".

Kitsilano · 08/08/2008 21:36

I love it. Was on our list but dh not keen

snickersnack · 08/08/2008 21:38

I love Tabitha. Have two friends called Tabitha - one is a Tabby (not keen), the other always Tabitha. Very very pretty.

FeelingLucky · 08/08/2008 21:39

dh says teh only tabitha he knows is a famous french porn star called tabitha cash

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/08/2008 21:49

There was a thread (or two) on this recently in baby names, so you may want to search there for more opinions.

Perfectly possible not to be shortened to Tabby. In fact, mine rarely gets shortened at all, but only to Tab or Tabs when it does.

Lilliput · 08/08/2008 21:50

It's from Beatrix Potter's Tom Kitten, his mother is called Tabitha Twitchit

star6 · 08/08/2008 21:54

ohhh of course! How could I forget that?

LittleMissBliss · 08/08/2008 21:56

I know a Tabitha, she gets called Tabs for short, but she is mainly just Tabitha.

It really suits her! I like it. She's English rose, so her name is fitting i think!

LittleMissBliss · 08/08/2008 22:02

an English rose. To be honest you'll get lots of people that say it's a cats name.

Holly is a bush
Leon is a Lion
Noel is christmas
Amber is a stone

Most names will link to something! Even if it's just a person we dislike, so we'd never in a million years use that name. Though to others its a perfectly lovely name! I hope you get your little girl! fingers crossed

pinktree · 08/08/2008 22:05

Thank you littlemissbliss

I just want something not as unusual as my little boy although I've met a few Cassius' where I live!

but nothing too popular/common

I love Esme but it seems there are an awful lot of those!

Like Amber now too!

Quite like Tuesday if she happens to be a girl and is born on that day.

But how on earth would you shorten it?! :O

SaintDeliasprotegee · 08/08/2008 22:12

I love it. DH said NO.
