when i had my first baby i added a baby item a week to my usual shopping...

that was usually tolietries like baby bath, nappies, wipes bottles etc. loads of stuff never got used, or i bought too many of one size nappy.

this time (4th baby), so far all i have added is one small pack of nappies, a cup and a pack of napisan.

think i'll be adding napisan everyweek to build up a stock of the stuff. 20 boxes should last how long....?

am planning on washables again, the disposables are for the first few days when i'm disorganised.

lol I did that when expecting dd1 had so many nappies (and I bought newborn,size 2&3 just in case I had a huge baby )

with dd2 everything came out of the loft around 6months pg got washed and put in nursery, cleaned the steriliser and bought some new bottles and new coming home outfit and that was it (although I did wander around mothercare etc in my lunch hour looking at boys stuff just in case they got the sex wrong!)

thats the same. this is dd4 (if they have read the scan right, will ask them to recheck it in a month at next scan) so will be up in the loft as soon as i have the chest of drawers sorted to get some space in there for baby stuff.

I have spent the last 2 weeks emptying ours, freecycled, ebayed and last lot to be boot faired this weekend, all thats left is 2 boxes with wedding pics etc in, each of the dd's memory boxes, 3 suitcases and big box of photos and xmas decs I didnt realis how much we had up there!!

a friend gave me the idea of buying a £10 or £20 gift card everytime we go for a big shop at the grocery store - a way of saving up for nappies, wipes...etc so when baby arrives, costs of that stuff doesnt seem so overwhelming because money has already been spent - gift cards just waiting to be used. We've collected quite a few already.

Whenever we do a shop I add a pack of nappies, or tin of formula & so on - just find it helps to spread the cost!!

Also as we do our shop in Tesco been adding thigs like vests, babygros too!!

This is my second so although I have bought some new stuff, alot has been used before so it's more washing than buying lol. I have about 2 packs of disposable nappies but will be using reusables that I already have from ds when I get organised so there's not that much to buy. Will be breastfeeding again aswell so that works out cheaper.

Can't you swap the napisan for something a bit more friendly?

I had stockpiles with DD1

Now with DD3 due in 2 days I have one packs of nappies (size one and two) and have bought one extra pack of wipes for my bag thats about it.

Still don't have a pram but have a couple of slings and the moses basket is ready. Drawers of clothes sorted too.

I think by the time you get to 3 or 4 you know exactly what you need.

My MIL bought me 4 huge bottles of baby shampoo when DS was born. They lasted until DS was at school (by which time I also had DD using the shampoo as well).

pmsl with the shampoo bozza - I think I had the same! (I'm still using the shampoo I got in my bounty pack for ds2 when he was born - he is one in a couple of weeks )

I am 20 weeks pg now and since about 12 weeks i've been doing the same! I have the "baby list" saved on my laptop and i try to clear 2 things a week. like maybe baby monitors and a cot blanket, lol. Next week, another cot blanket and a pack of babygrows, lol. It has really helped me! Although im 20 weeks, with a long way to go and have pretty much kitted myself out! Havent bought the cot yet, will do so on 9th Aug (when im 25 wks!) then it'll just be bits and pieces like the nappies etc. DP thinks im strange!

I'm at 24 weeks and starting to think I should be doing this 'one a week' thing, or October's going to be a nightmare!

(Plus father in law has just offered to buy a couple of things, so need to think what's best )

am saving dd's playschool money over the summer hols and splurging around the 20 week mark in september, should have about 400 euros saved.

just need a few wraps and some babygros but i want new nappies, a baby swing and possibly a pram

thank god i've found this thread! thought it was just me "stockpileing".

with DS i bought nappies an wipes to cover me over my mat leave so i wouldnt have to fork out when on a reduced income. have started to do the same this time(huggies wipes have been on special offer in boots). surprisingly, i managed to buy enough for about 8 months and it certainly helped when on SMP.

this time have got some nappies, wipes, formula and sudocrem but really need to get my act together as this blue bump is due to make an appearance in 7 weeks and i havent washed all the bits i've got down from the loft!

am planning to go into the loft tonight to get the clothes down. i have a feeling ineed to buy vests so will add a 7pack when shopping.

i have gone through the drawers and found 11 baby nightdresses though. and sent my sister to Gap to buy baby socks for me when she was on holiday.

Dry pail

So much easier, no need for nasty napisan and no yukky smelly water.

i never knew napisan was nasty.

i usually dry pail but some things do need soaking.

The sun will get out the stains and tbh if the nappies are washed and clean an odd stain really doesn't matter.

lol... you'll have 4 kids to cope with misdee..... time to become a nappy slut if ever there was one.

you can always take the stained ones out of circulation every now and again and give them a soak (ecover laundry bleach is very good btw)

Rumour has it it will appear at least once before the end of the year.
