Oral sex during pregnancy

MuffyMiffyMandy · 07/07/2008 19:45

I wish I'd had the confidence not to name change for this, but here goes...

Is it ok to receive oral during pregnancy?

I've abstained for 2 pregnancies because of some vague fear that somehow air could enter the MuffyMiffy area and hence the womb and damage the baby.

Is this mental or actually scientifically based on hard (hur) evidence of some kind?

Genuinely would like to know, as I'm currently pg with no 3.

Yes it's ok to receive oral during pregnancy. In fact i would tell your partner it is positively beneficial to the health of the baby

its totally fine but wtf ist he muffymiffy all about? lololol

lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 19:49

afaik, it's perfectly fine, however as a bit of a prude I'm not a fan of it if I'm feeling anything less than "straight from the shower" fresh , so the additional whiffiness that pregnancy brings puts me right off.

LynetteScavo · 07/07/2008 19:49

Unless you do it in some really strange way air won't enter any where to damage the baby.

(wondering if I've been missing out on something all these years )

lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 19:50

lol fio...and how did the friend of a friend's brother's uncle's mate know that MMM tasted any different from usual

lulumama · 07/07/2008 19:53

your uterus is sealed by a thick mucus plug in the cervix, the baby itself is in two layers of membrane and lots of fluid within the uterus

you cannot get air in there, even with the most enthusiastic action !!

have you not had regular penetrative sex in your pregnancies for the same reason?

if not, then your logic is totally warped

sex in pregnancy can be much more satisfying and intense due to all teh extra blood flow

MuffyMiffyMandy · 07/07/2008 19:53

LOL.

I thought I read it somewhere.

Maybe I'm getting mixed up (with WHAT though?).

I'd better go and have a shower

I think you can die if you have sex immediately after giving birth. Aparently air can get in to your system and travel to your heart. I heard it happened to one woman who had sex 3 days after giving birth.

Ate · 07/07/2008 20:13

I know a woman who had sex within four days of her first birth and everything was fine and dandy. Not even the semen killed her, let alone air!

Should women not bathe afterwards in case bath water gets into their system and kills them?

beckmo · 07/07/2008 20:17

Air in your system going straight to your heart after sex?Lol!That reminded me of the playground myth of chewing gum sticking to your heart if you swallowed it... and is about as credible!

MuffyMiffyMandy · 07/07/2008 20:19

Maybe oral sex after childbirth risks some dire health thingy?

It'd be a brave man who'd be up for that a couple of days post-birth though.

beckmo · 07/07/2008 20:23

Too true MMM. And sex 4 days after childbirth Ate?Why?!

FabioTheWhisperingCat · 07/07/2008 20:23

You will not over inflate your baby from oral sex in pregnancy. That's not how it works. You're thinking of blow jobs.

lackaDAISYcal · 07/07/2008 20:27

why would you even be remotely inclined to have sex four days after giving birth?....and the mess.....eew I was still feeling less than enthusiastic four months after!!!

Sazisi · 07/07/2008 20:27

I remember hearing or reading something somewhere that it's dangerous for a person to blow into your vagina, because an air bubble may get into the bloodstream and reach your heart.
Don't know if there's any truth in this, might be an urban myth, and nothiung to do with pregnancy..but maybe that's where you got the notion?

georgiemama · 07/07/2008 20:27

Please could someone explain this oral sex technique that involves ai being blown up the fanjo, because I think my DH has been doing it wrong.

MuffyMiffyMandy · 07/07/2008 20:29

ROFL at Fabio

i was pregnant in a jacuzzi with a gynacologist (yes, really) and he said it was fine - the chance of an air bubble getting up and in were miniscule.

flossish · 07/07/2008 20:32

is that how I ended up with a 10 and a half pound baby? Bugger. Thats a lot of air. Why didn't someone on MN tell me!

thud< at sex 4 days PP. Could sex that quickly still be very effective? After all that stretching I mean??!! How quickly does it all go back to normal??? sex after the normal six week has always been still painful for me. Perhaps the correct way to go about it is to keep dilating the area.... like you do after a male to female sex change...

MuffyMiffyMandy · 07/07/2008 20:33

Yes Sazisi that is IT

So how could I relax during cunnilingus knowing that at any moment a small air bubble can ascend my pipess and tubes and kill me?

I mean partner has to breathe down there, and what if said breathe was a biggy, or worse he coughs or sneezes?

OP posts:
flossish · 07/07/2008 20:37

get him a snorkel

flossish · 07/07/2008 20:38

a nasal type one though as otherwise it would defeat the object a little.
