Just curious for a little bit of fun! Me and partner like the names Isabel &, Isabella for a girl. What's everyones thought? Like I said just a bit of fun, it won't influence our decision I'm just curious! 😊 Also we don't know the sex but we are struggling for boy names

Isabella definitely

ToKittyornottoKitty · 04/10/2026 08:06

I prefer Isobel

Puhpuhpuhpuh · 04/10/2026 08:09

Definitely Isabel or Isobel.
The frillier names are a bit dated these days.

AlloftheTime · 04/10/2026 08:10

Isabel

lljkk · 04/10/2026 08:15

They are all nice.

TurningPointe · 04/10/2026 08:16

Isobel

Summerlovingtheraspberries · 04/10/2026 08:16

Both absolutely lovely.
If pushed I’d say Isobel and spelt that way.

Lemieux7 · 04/10/2026 08:17

I have an Isabella - I think it’s a lovely name.

MCF86 · 04/10/2026 08:23

I've seen Isobel or Isabelle but not Isabel so that looks odd to me, but I'd get used to it quickly once I knew one (based on the number of times I've privately judged a name but ended up loving it once I knew the child!)
I think I prefer it to Isabella but not so much I could say I have a strong opinion.

Lifeispeach · 04/10/2026 08:25

Isabella is lovely.

Isabel reminds me of old ladies 🫣

10kstepsaday · 04/10/2026 08:43

Either way they will get called the opposite by mistake constantly 😅

Speaking from experience!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 04/10/2026 08:44

Isabella.

I know 2 Bella’s that are Isobel’s, so it absolutely doesn’t need to be Izzy. And Izzy is obviously a potential nick name for both too

Isabella I think.
In DCs primary school years (they are now 18 and 16) the number of Isabelles and Isabellas was stunning, if faced with a random girl there seemed to be a 50 per cent chance she was either called Isabella/Isabelle or Amelia, or had a sister with one of those names (I used to go in and help with reading). Maybe it has calmed down a bit now!

Felixthewonderdog · 04/10/2026 09:39

Where do you live?

if SE, go for Isabella. The accent just cant cope with words ending in L

PaulBaker · 04/10/2026 09:40

We had an Isabel 2 weeks ago.

Sounds like a very weird school

Isobel. Isabella is very pretty but has become overused. No reason why Isobel can't be shortened to Belle or Bella. Actually I think Belle makes a nice change from Bella.

theretheirtheyre2026 · 04/10/2026 10:57

ds26 was going to be Isabella if he was a girl.

GrumpyPanda · 04/10/2026 11:21

Isabelle.

Shinyandnew1 · 04/10/2026 11:23

100% Isobel spelling though.

MrsApplepants · 04/10/2026 11:44

Isobel/ Isabella, Olivia and Amelia. Default girls names. About two thirds of each of my daughter (17) and niece (6) classes are called one of these three names. Nice names but the overwhelming popularity would make me steer clear of using one of them.
