Thought I would make a thread for those due in March 2027, I joined a thread for my previous rainbow pregnancy in 2022 and I found it so helpful. I found out this week that I am pregnant with my second rainbow baby, after losing my first baby at 29 weeks. I am feeling incredibly anxious, more so than in my first pregnancy after my loss. Wishing everyone a smooth pregnancy ahead 🤞🏼

@Quentina me! I’m having hot flushes 🥵

Hopefulmama21 · 04/08/2026 19:46

@Quentina @SilverSprings510 I've had the fan pointing directly at me every night 😆🥵

The only time I don't feel crap is when I'm stuffing my face, and we get married in October so I'm already dreading the photos 🤣

I feel a bit embarrassed saying this, as pregnancy is so natural, but I'm really struggling to work with the nausea and brain fog. My brain just isn't functioning! I WFH so I don't understand how people in other professions work at all during first trimester 🙈 Does anyone else feel the same?

SilverSprings510 · 05/08/2026 13:57

I’ve caved already and bought a pregnancy pillow. My hips were killing last night!

Same here, eating little and often is the only way I can keep the nausea at bay. Crispy things like chicken and grapes are especially good! I WFH too and honestly feel like my brain has fallen out?! So hard not being able to tell work just yet, very conscious I appear to be dropping the ball 😅

Exactly this!!! It's so embarrassing when I'm on a call and can't recall basic information 😬 I'm also in a new contract... I've known I was pregnant for almost half my time with the company! Decided I'm going to tell my manager next week at 9 weeks. She's lovely, and a mum, so I figure she'll at least be understanding! Have you tried frozen grapes?! 😋

The company I work for is having a huge restructure at the moment, and I'm absolutely terrified! Every Friday another 2-4 people 'disappear' & comms are awful, so it's really worrying. I'm unsure whether telling them I'm pregnant will put me more in the firing line or not? I know legally there are protections... I just know how cut throat the company is & that they'd likely see me as a 'sunk cost' while on enhanced mat leave.

Interested to hear what other non-first time mums who've been on mat leave before would make of my situation?

Frozen grapes sound lovely! Running to the freezer currently 😂

I think it really depends on the company. I would have told mine because they're very by the book and would be scared of a tribunal, so it would have given me more protection. However in yours people disappearing every week doesn't sound like a proper legal redundancy process (you would need all job roles with title x to be told they're at risk of redundancy and then a 45 day discussion period). I assume it's more a of a negotiated exit where they say, here's x settlement agreement take it or leave it. So in your case I'd be tempted not to say anything if you think it would put you in the firing line, as if you don't take it I assume they'd just try and manage you out.

Urgh I'm sorry, that sounds so tough. I'm a first timer so not sure I can add anything... I'd like to think it would give you protection but that's probably wishful thinking! Is it worth speaking to ACAS?

Frozen grapes are AMAZING.

lmattmum93 · 06/08/2026 06:56

Hi, not commented before but I’m due around 12th March with my 2nd.

Thought I would though as I’m in HR so kinda my area! Difficult as if you don’t tell them you have 0 protection, if you do, they still could make your redundant, but legally things like being given priority for other suitable roles exist and if challenged would have to be able to demonstrate you’ve not been chosen because your pregnant too so your always in a stronger position to ‘fight’ it compared to those who aren’t and have a lot more rights. If it’s all hush hush I doubt they are following full redundancy procedure and possibly just doing settlement agreements to save the agro of it, legally if your letting more than 20 people go through redundancy in 90 Days it’s collective and much stricter rules to follow.

greenshirt06 · 06/08/2026 09:06

Thankyou for your kind words of advice everyone and congratulations @lmattmum93 !

Negotiated exit/ settlement is definitely what’s been going on. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place as I can’t even leave, as I wouldn’t qualify for statutory mat pay anywhere else now. Very stressed! Really looking forward to my first scan next week, though. Fingers crossed all is well in there

That’s actually a good thing, even if they called you in to have the settlement talk that’s not the actual redundancy process. So if you told them during that meeting your pregnant your pregnancy protection kick in as soon as you do so then if they wanted to try redundancy instead, you have all the legal protection in place then for that process which does make it a lot harder! I will stop spamming the group with HR stuff but just wanted to try to reassure, within HR we usually say if they are pregnant don’t touch them it’s not worth the risk!

Very exciting with the first scan soon!

Thankyou so much- I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet & tell them sooner rather than later... trusting that they're not as shady as they have been as an employer!

Oh me too - I'm in maternity leggings because I can't fit my bloat in any other clothes 🤣 I've got constant nausea and brain fog too. Are you worried people will realise you're pregnant because of the bloat?? Currently due the day before you (based on a my second early scan on Monday because I'm impatient!!)x

NMac25 · 07/08/2026 08:25

Hi guys, hope you are all well this morning, bit iffy myself so I'm distracting myself by throwing a wee introduction 😅

I'm 31 and a first timer, Lmp has my due date as 12th March, reassurance scan at 7+2 said I was only 6+1 and has me due on 21st, so who knows...

Not sure if anyone else had a scary 1st scan that showed them a good chunk behind (I was expecting a heartbeat and saw only a yolk sac 😩). I was convinced it had stopped developing but it's been 11 days since that scan, my symptoms haven't really plateaued and no bleeding. So I'm uhm, nauseously optimistic?

Another scan booked for next Saturday to check for growth🤞x

Yes I’m really worried people are noticing with the bloat 🤣 but I’m hoping because I lost weight a few months ago they’re just thinking I’ve put it back on haha! X

Hi I’m 31 and also a first timer! I booked in for a reassurance scan too I thought I would have been bang on 8 weeks from my LMP date but they measured me at 7 weeks 3 days putting my due date at 16th March when I worked out 11th March but then 3 days later I had a scan at the EPU because I had spotting (all ok though they think irritation from the internal scan) and they measured me and said due date 13th march so baby must have grew in that 3 days. I’m trying to not go off it much until I have my 12 week scan on the 27th but hoping it dates me earlier rather than later 🤣 how are you feeling with it being your first time also? x

Congratulations and welcome to all the new joiners 🥰 I have sent PMs to all those who asked for the WhatsApp link recently. @Bluesclues1 for some reason it wouldn’t let me PM you the link, have you managed to get onto the WhatsApp yet? If not I will try again 😊

Hi please could you dm me so I can join the WhatsApp group? Thankyou xx

Ah lovely! Must be quite a relief to hear baby is growing 🥹

As for being a first timer, I'm excited, but also a little emotionally low this past week. I can't tell if I'm just exhausted, feeling lonely in keeping it secret or just overly anxious about the next scan. I imagine a delicious cocktail of all three 🤷‍♀️

How are you feeling yourself? X

Yes I’m exhausted I was asleep from 8:30 last night 🤣 hoping your scan goes well tomorrow & your baby has grew nicely 🫶🏻 I felt disappointed with my first scan because I expected to see more from thinking I was further from going off my period dates. I’ve had so much cramping which I didn’t even realise was a pregnancy symptom! Keep us updated on your scan tomorrow 💛💛
