I'm curious to hear other people's experiences. Did you notice any symptoms before getting a positive pregnancy test, and what were they?

I think I just had sore boobs and then when my period was late I “investigated” the area and there was clear-white discharge rather than blood. That’s when I took the test and it was positive!

Unbearably sore and sensitive boobs (bra was painful to wear, couldn't even bear the sheet touching them in bed) and severe lower back ache (to the point I was almost crying after walking round Tesco doing the weekly shop). This was very different to my usual period cramps which were always at the front. Honestly such strong physical symptoms that I was certain I was pregnant. This was very early on, well before I could have got a positive test. And in fact I did test and it was negative during this time. After five or so days these symptoms subsided and then I just got this dull ache, more like period pain, just as I was due on (I have short cycles so this would still have been early-ish for most people), and thought maybe I'd been going mad. Tested that day and it was positive. Turned out it was twins, and I do wonder if that played a part in getting such strong early symptoms.

My tastebuds changed. Hated the smell of barbecues, tomato sauce, Cornish pasties and didn’t want to drink wine.

Boreded · 16/06/2026 12:08

Sore boobs, and I put ketchup on tuna and at it straight from a can lol

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 16/06/2026 12:09

I had a very faint metallic taste in my mouth.

I had a very faint metallic taste in my mouth.

I had that as well.

moonbugsnug · 16/06/2026 12:41

I had a weird twinge like butterfly feeling in the very early days. Sore prickly nipples and went off my coffee.

scrivette · 16/06/2026 12:45

Sore boobs were the very first sign, then going off of tea.

Meadowfinch · 16/06/2026 12:46

Feeling tired.

I was 44.5 and felt absolutely exhausted. My periods had been on/off for a while so there wasn't any change there. I just felt shattered. I eventually went to the GP because I thought my thyroid was playing up.

I was wrong. I was also 14 weeks by that time. 😁

CheeseWisely · 16/06/2026 12:50

I cried at an advert in the cinema before I knew I was pregnant. I am not a crier generally.

AnnieApples · 16/06/2026 12:52

I never had a single sign apart from no period. So I was always in denial until my first scan.

sunshinebelieve · 16/06/2026 12:55

Predictable mild nausea every day from mid afternoon. That was a week before AF was due

Bringyourfoldingchair · 16/06/2026 12:56

I had hyperemesis so I couldn’t keep anything down and thought I was dying. Also sore boobs and heartburn (not sure how I didn’t know exactly what was going on!).

AutisticLass2026 · 16/06/2026 12:58

Metallic taste with every single pregnancy

LimeFish · 16/06/2026 12:59

Metallic taste in my mouth, just a bit. Did a test and it was negative but then did another test a week later and it was positive, so was a very early sign I think! Didn't always have regular periods so wasn't clear when to test - though the second test I was guessing I should probably have started a period by then which is why I tested again.

Andtheworldwentwhite · 16/06/2026 13:00

I walked up the stairs and nearly fell down as I went really dizzy. Took a test that day.

BareBelliedSneetch · 16/06/2026 13:05

Falling asleep in the middle of the of the afternoon for a week. And then realising I’d completely gone off tea. Tested positive that afternoon.

Periperi2025 · 16/06/2026 13:06

Belching and metallic taste, turned into relentless nausea from 5 weeks, then vomiting at about 6 or 7 weeks and never went away completely until birth.

CokeinBottles · 16/06/2026 13:06

Boobs and rage.

CaptainCabinets · 16/06/2026 13:09

I had a tingle in my boobs, was supposed to be going out for cocktails and lunch with my sister and cousins so thought I’d better do a test ‘just in case’ and it was a glowing positive.

FaceTimed my sister (from the toilet!) in shock and she met me off the train with another test. We then went for celebratory mocktails Grin

CointreauVersial · 16/06/2026 13:12

Weird metallic taste.

Twasasurprise · 16/06/2026 13:16

Veins in boobs were more visible and got bigger and sore. This was before my period was due in each pregnancy.

Delladuck · 16/06/2026 13:16

i felt so sick 24/7

i thought i had a bug but it didn't fade away after a few days

certain smells made it worse-i couldn't walk past the swimming baths or takeaways without dry heaving

if i walked behind someone smoking,i'd be throwing up in the gutter behind them and i still cant bear the smell of coffee as that was one of the worst smells

it was that strong, there was no need to take a test

this went on 24/7 until the moment i gave birth with all my pregnancies

Pistachiocake · 16/06/2026 13:17

As well as obvious ones like sore boobs, slight stomach swelling whihch GP said is because pregnancy hormones make you slightly constipated, tiredness, slight nausea...cellulite.
Cellulite is one people don't tend to talk about, but with all my pregnancies, it appeared as soon as I was pregnant, and reduced a week after my first birth.
The next 2 pregnancies, more defined cellulite appeared each time even before any other symptoms.

comoatoupeira · 16/06/2026 13:17

Thrush. Never usually get it
