iVFtwins26 · 06/06/2026 20:45

Hi is there anyone pregnant with twins due in December this year? We did icsi ivf in March and did a double embryo transfer. Only one took but it has split, they could possibly be mono mono as we can’t see a membrane yet. Iv had 3 scans and have my NHS 12 week scan on Wednesday 10 June.
would be nice to connect with anyone in a similar timeline/situation ☺️

Hi I haven’t done IVF but I am also expecting possible mono mono twins in December. We have had two scans one at 6 weeks and one at 8 weeks and they couldn’t find the separating membrane. Next scan on 16th of June and il be 12 weeks 3 days so hoping for more clarification then 😊

Hi Nicky that is amazing news I wish you the best with your pregnancy. How are you feeling? I made the mistake of googling so much after they said it’s twins and Iv been learning about the 3 types of twins. Been stressed a lot but reaching 12 weeks feels like a huge milestone. Please stay in touch if you would like to. X

Thank you so much! Congratulations to you as well 😊 I’m up and down, I wasn’t having many symptoms till about 9 weeks now they are knocking me and the exhaustion compared to previous pregnancies is crazy. How are you feeling? I’ve definitely googled way too much but I’ve stopped now as my twin midwife was very reassuring and informative so I feel il just make myself anxious reading horror stories. I’m just waiting to get to my next scan on 16th June to see if a membrane is found then il look more into things as il know for sure what type of twins I’m having, apparently its pretty common for not to be seen at 8 weeks. Would love to keep in touch! X

My symptoms have been quite rough! The hunger was so bad in the beginning I was always starving and it was like my brain never processed that I ate food. After that went Iv had weeks of nausea and haven’t had energy to do things and can’t seem to cheer up. I have a 3 year old son and feel so guilty that I’m not in the mood to play with him etc. my first scan was at 7 weeks to check viability & second I had at 10 weeks because I was paranoid about vanishing twin syndrome & my 3rd scan was last week with my IVF doctor, he did say he thinks he can see a menbrane but he’s not 100% and after a few weeks it would show up clearer. Also I think because I googled a lot, my algorithm on my TikTok kept showing me horror stories about twins & lots of sad situations, I have to put my phone down and breathe. Has your dr mentioned anything about having c section earlier ? & thank you so much x

Nickydue2026 · 08/06/2026 08:01

Same the hunger is out of this world! I eat a full meal then half hour later I feel empty and super nauseous like I’ve not eaten all day. Seems we are having the same symptoms as the lack of energy is making me feel so guilty as well, I have older children 13 and 12 so I’m lucky in the respect of them entertaining themselves but I do feel like I’m slacking I’m the mum department right now. My first scan was 6 weeks after some spotting which they put me on progesterone twice and day after a chemical last year and my second scan was 8 weeks, both twins measure practically the same which I’m glad about as Google told me horror stories. Yes TikTok definitely pushes horror stories at me as well! I haven’t seen my consultant yet but booked in with him on 30th June but I have spoke to my twin midwife who explained a bit to me. She said if they don’t have a membrane I will need a C section and if they have one I can try a natural birth and said I can scrap my original due date of Christmas Day as they will be early. Depending on the type of twins and how they grow etc could be between 32-38 weeks. I’m also have a cervix scan at 18 weeks to check all is ok xx

iVFtwins26 · 08/06/2026 10:44

Yeah the hunger is horrible, it’s worse at night for me. Sorry about your chemical, I had one of those too in my first pregnancy and been on a lot of progesterone support. Now that I’m 12 weeks I am allowed to stop all the medications which I’m happy about, it’s nice not needing to inject anymore. Apparently with twins we might need blood thinners towards the end so maybe Clexane injections again. Oh you are very ahead with your appointments that’s so good! I met my midwife but for some reason they missed the fact I said twin pregnancy and she said I probably won’t see her much as she has to refer me to the multiples department now. So I’m still waiting to meet consultant team etc. same my due date is 19 December and I’m guessing it will be November in reality. I just pray we can make it that far without issues. I had a 3rd degree tear with my son with episitiomy and forceps I can’t imagine pushing out 2 tbh 🥲

Same I wake up 4am every night absolutely starving! I’ve been told to start taking aspirin as well from 12 weeks so need to get that sorted. I was very shocked with how quick they were with referrals etc! Looks like we are both having potential November twins, so exciting 🥰 I’m trying to stay relaxed about things but it’s difficult isn’t it! Every movement I make I’m so cautious it’s like I’ve never been pregnant before lol. My first birth was the same as yours but my second was smooth sailing so I’m trying to keep an open mind about pushing two out but at the same time I’m thinking is a C-section as calmer option as what if I can only push one out and end of needing a section anyway! Lots of decisions to be made that’s for sure x

I have been on aspirin from the beginning too was told by my IVF dr that I will probably need it the whole pregnancy. My midwife said they will put it on prescription for me. So you can get it for free. Yes November babies 🥹 feels so far away but the long days and sickness makes me feel like it’s been so many months. I’m already sore when I walk and move are you like that? My bump is big with swelling and bloating 😭 definitely hard to stay relaxed! But I am telling myself that every day that there is no bleeding or pain or is uneventful is another progressing day towards the end. Yes Iv been doing some digging and it seems a lot of women have c section for twins & it helps them to feel more in control as it’s scheduled etc. I feel like I’d rather have stitches on my belly than down there again 😭

It does feel like it’s dragging a bit as I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks 3 days 😂 yes! I have been out today and had to come home and lay down as I was so sore from walking I thought I was over thinking it so glad to hear it’s not me going crazy lol and it must be a twin thing 😂 I’m already showing as well!! I’m living in baggy T-shirts and leggings. That’s the thing with twins and being early it’s all the unknown isn’t it and not knowing what births we are having x

Oh wow that must be so wonderful and surprising to find out that early! Apparently for twins we can feel the bubbles/movements around 15 weeks so I’m eagerly awaiting for that moment 🥹

It was a shock that’s for sure! Even though we were tracking and trying it was a shock 😂 my partner said from the moment we got our positive test it was twins and he was right lol! I can’t wait to feel them I do wonder how different it will be to a single pregnancy 🥰 are you planning on finding out the gender? X

Aww that’s so cute. I always wanted twins since I was a teen and was praying the double embryo transfer would be successful for both. Then to find out one split and it’s identical, it’s such a miracle! I get so emotional every other day just thinking how shocking it is. & it makes you more scared for things to go wrong. We were just talking about gender today! My husband doesn’t want to know till birth but I can’t wait that long! I was thinking to do a private gender scan and get a cake and do that think where you blindfold and cut a slice and ask your toddler to say what colour the cake is lol. We didn’t do a gender reveal or anything for my first so I feel like this is my last chance to experience this. How about you x

OP posts:
Nickydue2026 · 08/06/2026 22:15

It really is a miracle isn’t it! Same I wake up everyday day and can’t believe this is my life now. My two older children know as we felt it was best to tell them as they started to get worried as I was ill so often so they are desperate to know the gender. I have two boys and my partner has one of each so be interesting to see what we are having 🥰 aww that’s lovely! We are going for a gender scan with my mum as she is normally at the births of all her grandchildren this is 17 & 18 for her, but with a C-section being likely so won’t be able to. After we find out we are getting the children to do a cannon for a big reveal x

Aww that sounds so lovely. Your family must all be so excited! Hope everything goes well for you. What week are you planning to do the gender scan? I didn’t realise till recently that it can be done from 15 weeks. Apparently with twins also we should get a scan every 2 weeks from 16 weeks so I’m hoping that’s true. Your mum must be so lovely. Me and my siblings have kept my mum away to be safe from her drama lol. How come your mum can’t be with you if it’s c section? Arnt we allowed 2 birth partners? X

They really are! My local place does it from 15 weeks 4 days so hoping to go around then once I’ve got my official dates after my 12 week scan. Yes my twin midwife said it’s every two weeks from 16 weeks for our type of twins which is really reassuring as any issues will definitely be picked up on. It’s only one birth partner allowed with c sections as far as I’m aware but areas may differ? I’m in Gloucestershire so we are only allowed 1 unfortunately x

Yes I’m so glad the scans are every 2 weeks. The wait between regular scans are so long! We are in Worcestershire and I just checked & it’s just 1 birth partner for us too x

Hi I just had my 12 week scan and they could see a membrane! It was so clear so they are mono Di twins. They said after 20 weeks then it’s a scan every 2 weeks. Also one of my twins has it’s organs outside of its belly so will need surgery after birth ☹️

I’m still in shock trying not to be too upset. They have referred me to fetal medicine who called me as soon as I got home and will check us tomorrow. My local hospital also said they only scan non identical twins so I won’t be able to go there. X

where have they said your fetal medicine will be? I was told I could be referred to Bristol if any extra investigation is needed so hopefully you don’t have to keep travelling too far. I’m glad they called so quickly for you and seeing you so soon xx
